00:02:14 - 00:02:15 | Speaker 4:

All right, are you ready?

00:02:16 - 00:02:18 | Speaker 6:

You're listening to Mojo in the morning.

00:02:18 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 4:

You're a doo-doo hat.

00:02:23 - 00:02:56 | Unknown:

It's showtime. We'll be right back.

00:02:56 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 4:

good morning and welcome to the mojo in the morning show it is nice to have you here as weird walking into the building today and our fire alarm was going off i was like oh that's going to be an awkward moment going on the radio, but it's the outside building fire alarm. So, do we know, has anybody checked to see if there's everything okay here? What do you mean the outside building fire alarm? The outside building fire alarm was like going, eh, eh, eh.

00:03:38 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 9:

So does that mean there's a fire inside

00:03:39 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 4:

though, right? Well, that's what I wonder. I don't know what's going to happen,

00:03:41 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 2:

but the security guard, she was just sitting there eating her grapes, watching TikTok. I'm like, okay, it can't be that serious.

00:03:49 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 4:

As long as everybody's okay, you know what's funny is it's kind of like when somebody's car alarm goes off in a Walmart parking lot. Nobody cares. It's kind of like, you know what? Maybe that means that I can get a deal on a loaf of bread and a dozen eggs. All right. Welcome to the show. It's Mojo in the Morning. Mojo with Shannon, Megan. We got Kev, KP, Lydia, Zach, Bianca. Is she coming in today? She should. She was at Bingo yesterday. She's coming in. You're bingoing it. Also, will the sales department be coming in today? Now that... You know, today's the day you come in because tomorrow's the day you don't want to come in. If you're not going to come in, don't come in on the day that the snow's going to be out on the ground. It's the calm before the storm, you guys. The calm before they're saying six to eight inches.

00:04:39 - 00:04:53 | Speaker 1:

The breaking storm comes today! I got the sleds out and ready yesterday. I am. Really? For some reason, I'm so excited about this one. You are excited. Because Mojo said it's supposed to be big, fluffy snow. It's the good kind.

00:04:53 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

In certain areas. So there's a lot of sleet, too, they're saying. So I guess northern...

00:05:00 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 2:

More of the northern parts of the area will get that. But then if you go town, and this is for all of our listening area, Grand Rapids will get the fluffy stuff. Detroit's northern counties will get the fluffy stuff. But then south and then towards our Toledo listeners, it's going to be sleety and scary, rainy, and mixed with that. So icy. So be careful.

00:05:22 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 1:

And again, this is, I mean, the bulk of the snow is coming between 3 and 9 p.m. today. so I'm surprised both Lucy and Smith have school and extracurricular and sports stuff tonight that they're refusing to cancel so far. I double checked again late last night and they're like nope everything is on

00:05:39 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 2:

Today in Michigan it's count day That's what it is You gotta get your kid in there because your kid's worth nine grand They want that money

00:05:48 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 1:

This is late night stuff

00:05:50 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 2:

And but hey It is winter It's winter, hello Hello! It's Winto! Hello! We need to start talking to people like that. Get ready. Get ready for this. It's going to be fun, guys. Are we all excited for it? Are we treating it like Shannon is? We're pulling out the snow boots and the... I actually packed a bag. I packed a bag. Chelsea said to me, she's like, you're not going to drive in another snowstorm on your way to work. Then I go home and I go, I hate it. I can't stand moving downtown i hate that the station did this to us why did they move us to eastern market they couldn't have moved us to woodward avenue these are all the complaints i have i got one bathroom that's all i got is one bathroom one goddamn bathroom i mean valid valid i mean all those

00:06:40 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 1:

are so far have i said anything that's not legit and your drive is long like my drive is 20 minutes

00:06:45 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 2:

well i almost killed myself driving because i live in in uh west bloomfield waterford and i to drive old orchard trail which if you never have been in orchard lake like where that is it's literally a two-lane highway that if you take a sharp left you're in the water you're like you're like basically you're in orchard lake at that moment there's no railings there's nothing and the last time that drove in it was pure ice on the roads so it was just craziness on the road So, um, I don't know. How do, can I start off the morning? Can we talk, uh, let's do a little weather, uh, talk here.

00:07:22 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 1:

This is your dream. Let's do this. Kev, he wants, he has always dreamed of being a weatherman or a country.

00:07:30 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 2:

Country DJ.

00:07:31 - 00:07:32 | Speaker 1:

A country.

00:07:32 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 3:

Do you still have like seven weather apps?

00:07:34 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. I, I, I have them all. I have, uh, the best ones used to be, they used to have dark sky was a great one. Unfortunately, dark sky guy, everybody gets bought out by Google. But the best weather app right now for me has been the Weather Channel and the Fox Weather Channel. Those are the ones that I've liked the most. But I would like to, I'm not going to talk nerdy stuff like barometric pressure.

00:07:57 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 1:

I don't even know what that is. They say that. I'm like, who is waiting on the eights for the barometric pressure? Who hears that and goes, oh, now I know what's going on.

00:08:07 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 2:

What I would like to discuss, and I think that this is very important. I would like to discuss, if we can, when you have a snowstorm like this, okay, and this is, you know, for everybody reminiscing a little bit when they were kids, were you the kid that stayed in all day playing video games or did you get your ass outside and did you go out with a sled or with the lid to your garbage can? For some reason, that was always a good one to do. Or we would also do the blow-up stuff that we would use in a swimming pool. Like if you had a raft or something.

00:08:40 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 1:

That was the best.

00:08:41 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 2:

If you got on a raft on a hill over at Marsh Bank Park in West Bloomfield, you ended up in Pontiac. It was crazy. It was like you'd go so far. Did you ever see the video, the TikTok, of the dad that pushes his kid and his kid goes and then disappears into the forest? Did you ever see that one? It's one of my favorite videos ever. The dad's, like, pushing the kid down the hill. The kid goes all the way down the hill. Next thing you know, he's like, oh, boy.

00:09:05 - 00:09:06 | Unknown:

I don't. I don't.

00:09:07 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 2:

And it's like this little kid that he just stops. Do you guys remember the best sledding hills at all? No.

00:09:12 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 3:

I didn't grow up in a neighborhood that had sledding hills.

00:09:14 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

No sledding in the city?

00:09:15 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 3:

So, always, like, you used to be at my grandma's house. No, no sledding in the neighborhood.

00:09:20 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 1:

So, on Grosstiel, we would go to all the golf courses because there's, like, three golf courses down there on the island. And so, like, all your friends would be at the golf courses. You'd see everybody who wasn't in school to sled.

00:09:34 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 3:

What we did do, though, at my grandma's, we used to push all the snow. Like, when you shovel the snow and shovel the driveway, we used to make sure that when you shoveled it, you took it to a certain part that was near the porch.

00:09:45 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:09:45 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 3:

And then you would climb to, like, the top of the little porch. And then you would try to jump off the porch and act like you was jumping in the swimming pool. So, everybody would come over and do, like, cannonballs.

00:09:53 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 1:

That's so fun.

00:09:54 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that used to be the vibe. So we had two things that we would do at our house. We would do... skeetching off the back of cars, which I think, yeah, we call it skeetching. Some people call it skitching. I actually think I'm more right with this. You would take your two feet, put them on the ground, and you'd grab the bumper of the car, and then the car would drive, and you would basically, with your feet, use your feet as like a ski, and you would slide, and you'd go, and there were kids that I knew that used to go for miles. Wow. They would hold on to that thing, and it would literally, and usually you'd do it to somebody who doesn't know that you're doing it and you got to hold on like it's a freaking bull in a rodeo that was one of them and then the other one was we threw snowballs at cars we were you know kind of a deviants and then you'd hit a car you know you'd get the guy stopping trying to want to kick

00:10:42 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 1:

your ass or something my dad said back in the day he grew up in allen park and he said that when there was a storm like this they would make a ton of snowballs and they would put them in my grandma shanny's granny's basement freezer and then come july they would go access the stock and they would throw them at cars passing by on quant street isn't that great so just an idea stock

00:11:06 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 2:

up be proactive plan ahead today by the way tim murphy changed he turned into a nice guy he was like he should have been in jail when he was younger what's going on kenny how you doing morning guys how you guys doing we're getting ready are you ready for this storm apocalypse

00:11:21 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 4:

Oh, brother, listen, I'm trying to hustle and get my day over with. I ain't trying to be in my semi and stuff all day.

00:11:26 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 2:

Oh, so you driver, you a truck driver?

00:11:29 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, right now I'm at the old Palace of Auburn Hills. They're putting up a new GM plant.

00:11:35 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Hey, question for you. Those big old semi trucks that you drive, can those, are they like plows? Like, do you just get through the snow or does it struggle like our cars do?

00:11:47 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

I mean, they kind of plow through it. I mean, when I'm fully loaded, I can plow through it. But if I'm empty, it's like a flip and slide for me.

00:11:54 - 00:12:09 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I can only imagine that. It's got to be tough if somebody pulls in front of you at the last minute trying to stop that damn thing. Yeah, I'm not stopping. You're going right through them. Well, be safe out there, man. Get that work done so you can get home and just be safe and comfy at a home, okay?

00:12:09 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But real quick, hey, to all the kids out there, get out there today and make some money once it starts falling. You know, $20, $25 to the yard. Because I feel like kids aren't doing that anymore. No, they're lazy.

00:12:20 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 2:

These kids, there's no way. These kids are on video games. You think Josiah is going to get a shovel and go out there? If you told Josiah, go grab a shovel, you're going to grandma's house to shovel, what would he do? He would laugh at me. The only shoveling he'd probably do is like in VR. That's like the only shoveling. That doesn't happen. Like, honestly, you could make a ton of money when you were a kid doing this stuff. Nowadays, honestly, I bet you there are people that would pay more than $25 to shovel a driveway. What's going on, Katie? How you doing?

00:12:49 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 3:

good morning i have an app for you yes it's called what the forecast and it'll say it'll say like dirty or naughty things about the weather oh really like yeah like what what does it what

00:13:03 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 2:

does it say about today that's clean enough to say on the radio well the first one said it's

00:13:08 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 3:

totally skinny dipping weather outside and i just lied to you okay yeah yeah it's just it just kind And it looks, okay, this one, I just refresh it. It says friggin' nope. Yeah. And then it tells you what the weather is going to be. So, you know, you get to be, like, depressed that it's going to be cold and gnarly outside. But then you get to laugh about it because you're going to be in pain later anyway.

00:13:29 - 00:13:38 | Speaker 2:

Don't you know that if the TV stations, if they wanted to get ratings at all, they would do, like, a swearing weather forecast? Like, I will tell you that the fire.

00:13:38 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 3:

I would do that forecast.

00:13:39 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 2:

Do you live in Detroit?

00:13:42 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 3:

No, I live in the Lansing area. I'm one of your app listeners.

00:13:46 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 2:

I heard. Okay, so in Detroit, there's a TV station called Fox 2, and they have these weather guys. They call them the weather guys. There are two guys.

00:13:55 - 00:13:57 | Speaker 1:

It's Alan Longstreet, and who's the other guy?

00:13:57 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my gosh. Is that the Volts on there? And they do, like, bits with each other, and they're actually kind of funny. They're really funny. Actually, Fox 2 has...

00:14:05 - 00:14:06 | Speaker 3:

Did they take their clothes off?

00:14:07 - 00:14:14 | Speaker 2:

No. You know what? Honestly, I think they did a bit one time. I think they did. They were, like, male strippers or something. They would. They were pretty funny. They're those kind of guys, yeah.

00:14:14 - 00:14:15 | Speaker 3:

All right, I'll tune in.

00:14:15 - 00:14:31 | Speaker 2:

But then they also have this super hot, weekend, beautiful, long blonde hair. I don't even know what her name is either. But when she comes on with the weather, my wife literally has to, like, punch me because I'm sitting there with my mouth wide open the entire time. She's like, it's good.

00:14:31 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 3:

You know what that dynamic's missing?

00:14:33 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:14:34 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 3:

A middle-aged mom like me. There you go. Come in there and just swear and be like, get your beer out of it. Why can't we swear? There you go. More fun.

00:14:42 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 2:

I think that would be perfect. We'll do that on cable. All right? So we'll figure that out. Have a great day, Katie. Sounds great. Appreciate you listening to us. Unfortunately, I was going to say go green, but they lost last night. Oh, don't even talk about it, bro. Anthony, what's up? Hey, how's it going, guys? First time, long time.

00:15:00 - 00:15:09 | Speaker 3:

During snow days, my brother and I would go out and we would build about four foot tall penises in the middle of the road.

00:15:12 - 00:15:14 | Speaker 1:

Okay, that's hysterical.

00:15:14 - 00:15:22 | Speaker 3:

They would have to drive through them and they would be like rock hard because we'd go out at like 1 a.m. and they'd just build them up. Literally rock hard. Three or four of them in a row.

00:15:22 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 2:

They had to bust through the penis.

00:15:24 - 00:15:27 | Speaker 1:

I hope my son is not listening to this or there's going to be a penis in my yard today.

00:15:28 - 00:15:32 | Speaker 3:

That's so great. Dude, we put a lot of detail into it. Okay.

00:15:33 - 00:15:35 | Speaker 5:

Shannon, you got to get Smith doing that.

00:15:35 - 00:15:37 | Speaker 1:

I honest to God, he loves strong penises.

00:15:38 - 00:16:05 | Speaker 4:
