Mojo in the Morning Show. This weekend is a long weekend. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on Monday. Spike, you're off tomorrow, right? Yeah. You're taking a day off?

Right after today's show, I'm flying out to Hollywood. and taking a long weekend.

What's going on in Hollywood there? Did you get your golden ticket? Yes.

I was just cast on a show. It's called Thursday. It's a sequel to Wednesday, but much less budget. I'm actually going to visit some friends. I wanted to go out to a big concert out there. Actually, the iHeartRadio Alt-Ego concert, some good bands playing. And then while I'm out there, I'm going to see some friends, see some sites. And Meg and I wanted to get away for a weekend and just have some time with just the two of us because our holidays were relaxing, but we're with family the entire time. Like, we didn't get any time alone. So we thought it would be nice to just take a little weekend to the two of us. And she's only been out to L.A. once quickly for work and didn't really get to see the site. So there's a lot of stuff new to her. So we'll probably go to a, we might go to Jimmy Kimmel's 20th anniversary show. We might go to a couple other places.

Do you guys, so do you, cause you're a big travel guy. Do you find that, is it interesting for you now that you're in a new relationship and you have explored so many places to take her to places and to like show her around because of you've, you know, have been to these places before?

Yeah. Well, I always find new places to go. I haven't been. So even though we're going like I haven't been there in 15, 14, 15 years, but there's I mean, geez, I was there for a weekend. So I saw just about nothing. But when you go to a big city like that, like L.A., everything changes every year or two. Anyway, there's so many new things to check out. So I love it. So every time, even if we go to a city I've been to before, most of the time it's a new experience for me, too, unless there's like a favorite place. So like, for instance, I want to take her to the Sunset Strip because I love all the bars and clubs there. all the rock clubs and all the places where a lot of big celebrity huge stars got their start you know there's legendary um concert venues on the strip like the troubadour the roxy the

Whiskey A Go-Go, The Rainbow Room, where all of our major rock stars started from the 60s, 70s, and 80s all the way up to today. There's also a place I want to take her. The Whiskey is one of my favorites. That's where all the 80s and 90s hair bands and metal bands came from, like Guns N' Roses got their start there, Motley Crue, Metallica, and even some alternative bands like Pearl Jam and bands like that. So I don't know if I can go back in there, though, because about 10 years ago, our friend Chad, our old producer of the show, Chad and I were there for the American Music Awards broadcast. And we went to the whiskey one night and we got really drunk and they kicked us out and told us we were banned, that we're never allowed to go back in there. And I really want to go in there this weekend to show Meg. So I'm just going to go. And I'm like, there's no way they can remember me from like 12 years ago, right?

Oh, I don't know about that.

I don't think they can.

Oh, I don't know about God. They probably kick people out every day. I say that because, actually, it's so funny because this has to do with the Chad as well. Probably about 10 years ago, Andrew was out with a bunch of buddies, including his buddy Chad. Oh, yeah. And you've heard this story before. Yeah. And Chad was over-served, as I say, and there was some sort of altercation with him and the bartender, and they threw him out, and they said, you are never, ever welcome back here. So now it's become like a thing that they'll still try to go back in and see if they recognize Chad and get kicked out. Every single time they've tried, Chad is recognized and they throw him right out.

But they keep going back every year. This has been 12 years ago.

That's very true. That is very true.

I will bet you a venue like that that has had so many people go through it because it's the history of it. they don't have like a unless I'm wrong and they have like a bunch of people's pictures up in the front but I can't imagine

room for all the pictures I mean this is a place that like where Jimi Hendrix and the Who got their start and Van Halen Lincoln Park you know like every big band like especially on the west coast they all got their start at the whiskey so I can't imagine 12 years later they're gonna be like hey weren't you really drunk one night and heckling the band and like being sloppy on the balcony

Plus, don't you look a little different from 12 years ago?

I hope I do, yeah. Maybe. I'll wear a mustache, too. But no, I feel like I wanted, but I thought, you know, if there are any listeners that have ever been banned from a place and they're not allowed back in, I would love to hear if you ever tried to go back. If you're one of those people listening that you tried to sneak back in and maybe they recognize, maybe they don't.

No, so some of the people we're visiting actually had to leave their houses and go check into apartments the last few days and check into hotels because flooding and the power outage, but the flooding was so bad, it washed away part of the canyon and their neighborhoods and stuff, and it actually knocked out some roads, but it's sunny out there today, and they're on recovery.

I saw they're getting snow now. That's the other big thing that the West Coast is getting.

Yeah, that's further north, though, not as far as L.A.

Yeah, there was a story that was about some of the areas like towards San Francisco that now they went from all this rain to now they're going to get huge amounts of snowfall because the temperatures drop so much.

It's going to be sunny in 70. I don't want to rub it in, but sunny in 70. Oh, good. Good for you.

He and my sister got kicked out of a Denny's before.

That's a rite of passage, isn't it? I was going to say, who hasn't gotten kicked out of a Denny's?

Were you able to go back ever, or have you never tried it?

Well, I didn't go back because, like, my sister tried going back, and they immediately kicked her out, but she went back almost later. So I just never went back until about six years later. And I thought, you know, I changed, you know, appearances a little bit. And the general manager comes coming over to our table and screamed at me to get out.

I feel like Denny's puts up with everything. Like, what did you do?

That's a good question.

Well, my sister's kind of crazy, so. A fight. It was a fight. Yep. Yeah.

My favorite was trying to get moons over my hammy and to see if during the time that they cooked it, somebody actually got into an argument or a fight at another table.

Well, I went to a bar and misbehaved a little bit, and then I tried to reenter that bar about a year later, and some bars are equipped with when you enter, they take your ID and they say,

swipe it yeah uh when they did that i might they instantly said no you're flagged from and it's just like i don't know they swipe my id and instantly they're like no so they saw my picture and my info and they're like out of here i couldn't even enter it's like going through tsa

security when they swipe your uh pretty much yeah thank god i don't think they had that technology 12 years ago uh lindsey yes hi hey lindsey your dad was kicked out of a bar and what was the

reason so when they were younger my uncle my dad were in saint augustine and went to a bar and my uncle got into a fight my dad jumped in to defend him and kind of try to break it up but when the police showed up they ended up arresting my dad not my uncle and the police escorted them out of St. Augustine and told them never to come back. Wow. I admire that.

That's actually pretty impressive.

we were playing softball and afterwards we were all partying and we had about 10 people in a room and these two girls were coming down the hallway so we invited them into the room and we're partying all of a sudden there's a bang on the door and this guy comes to the door he goes is my daughter's in there and i says no i don't think so and um he looks and he goes yeah that's them okay well he gets his daughter and leaves and he comes back a few minutes later knocks on the door again i go there's no more daughters in here and he says um nope you guys got to go and i says well what are you talking about who are you he goes i own the hotel you got to go i go well we've already paid for the night we're not leaving 15 minutes later there was a big pound on the door and it was the state police and we had to leave so eight years later i go back to this hotel and i'm checking in and this elderly woman's at the desk he looks at me looks down looks at me looks down looks at me looks down i goes no you got to be kidding me she goes yeah you can't stay oh my gosh wow
