Showtime!

00:01:30 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 2:

Good morning, and welcome to the Mojo in the Morning show. Get my headphones back in here. Hello, hello, welcome. Mojo and Spike Shannon here in our studio Meg and Mike in their studios And Shannon back today How are you? How are you?

00:02:07 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 3:

I am feeling a whole lot better Thank you, Jesus

00:02:10 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 2:

You sound so much better than when I called you the last few mornings

00:02:13 - 00:02:27 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, well, every time you called me You made the same joke I mean, today's Groundhog's Day And that's kind of what it felt like every time you called Because you would go, um, hello, sir Can I please talk to the lady of the house? My voice was so gone And so deep

00:02:27 - 00:02:33 | Speaker 2:

I mentioned it on the show yesterday And Spike thought of the same exact joke at the same time So we both were on the same wavelength there

00:02:33 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 1:

Programmed in the dad joke

00:02:34 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 3:

I mean my kids thought it was hysterical Anytime they wanted something they were like Mom can we have cheese

00:02:40 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 2:

Well just so you know Megan held down the fort and did a great job

00:02:47 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 3:

I love you Megan She also threatened my life And said if you ever do that to me again I will actually come to your house and kill you

00:02:54 - 00:02:56 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I did. And I meant it.

00:02:56 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 2:

What was so wrong? What was so wrong about you? I thought that you enjoyed that. You didn't like that?

00:03:02 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 4:

You think that I enjoy being in your presence? No, it's just I don't think people realize it's just so much work, and I couldn't be bothered to do anything more than is required for my job.

00:03:16 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 1:

Just the bare minimum.

00:03:18 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 4:

We keep the bar low for a reason.

00:03:21 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 2:

Well, people are, you know, I say this with the most affection I possibly can towards the listeners.

00:03:28 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 4:

Oh, okay.

00:03:29 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 2:

No, I say this to the listeners. But you guys compare everything, okay? You guys go sit there and everybody has to do that. So they all compare. So there's the people that are like, I don't like Megan doing the dirty. I don't like that. You know, it's not good. And then there are other people that will say, I like Megan doing the dirty. And I don't, you know, and they do that all the time. And the funny thing is, I always wondered with this, does this happen, like, in every job? Like, if Bob from accounting goes on vacation and Sue, who works also in accounting, takes the role of Bob in helping out, you know, with some of his duties, do the people in the office go, Sue really sucks?

00:04:12 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 1:

Right. Doug, who tells me all the time that I'm terrible. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Replace me.

00:04:19 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's right. I forgot about that. But that whole – it's just so interesting how we work in a profession. But I will say this. Okay, I do watch sports. I watch Pistons games and stuff. And sometimes it pisses me off when somebody is out. You know what I mean? Cade has been out the whole year. So it's like I haven't even watched the games because they don't even have a chance. but when they the nba does this a lot where guys get rest days like they get a day to take off so you could actually be going to a pistons versus lakers game and lebron may not play because lebron's taking a day off like he's taking and i'm like going wait a second he can't have a day off

00:05:00 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 3:

The guy only plays 52 games a year, for Christ's sake. Only. Yeah, only 52.

00:05:05 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 2:

That's it. That I understand comparing the players because they have stats and they have a way of winning or losing. I feel like if Shannon's sick, Megan knows how to do the dirty. Absolutely. But they do it to us about everything. They compare 2023 Mojo to 2008 Mojo. They compare our morning show to the other morning show across the street. It's crazy.

00:05:26 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 3:

But to do that with family, though, is bad. I don't like, you know, like a show like this. I don't know. But go ahead. What are you going to say?

00:05:31 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 5:

But I also don't think that the guys get compared as much as Shannon and I do.

00:05:34 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 3:

Oh, you wait.

00:05:35 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 5:

Wouldn't you agree, Shannon?

00:05:36 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 4:

I absolutely agree with that. And I think that it bums me out that it's like people want to pit us against each other.

00:05:44 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 5:

Well, newslash, we already hate each other. Seriously. Oh, well, well, well. Come on.

00:05:49 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 4:

I'm like really effing hate you.

00:05:50 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 5:

But I think the thing that makes us work is that we're not the same. If there were two Shannons or two Meggans on the show, you'd be like, well, why are there two of you? Like, we're intentionally different people.

00:06:03 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

Actually, that is the beauty of the show, is that everybody is slightly different, except for Megan and I are kind of like each other.

00:06:10 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 5:

We are unfortunately similar.

00:06:14 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 2:

Of all the two women on the show, I feel like you two are the most similar.

00:06:19 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 3:

You know what is kind of humorous, Like, when you kind of, like, you have things with the show, like, where somebody's in, somebody's out, and, you know, somebody does this thing. It's funny how people will pick. They know right away. Like, it's very interesting how fast they know it. And maybe it's like me with the TV news stations. Like, if I watch TV news station and, you know, Devin Skillian is not doing the 10 o'clock or the 11 o'clock news, I'm like, where is Devin? You know, stuff like that. And I sit there and I think to myself, I'm like, that's actually kind of cool. Like, it's nice that they notice that, that there's a notice of something different. Because to be perfectly honest with you, there is a show, like, a couple digits down the dial here that I guarantee you, if they weren't on and something was different, you guys probably wouldn't have even noticed. Which means, they ain't that good of a show. No offense, but, and you don't know which digits I'm talking about, which one I'm stopping at. Hit the scan button on your radio for a second, you'll figure it out.

00:07:19 - 00:07:32 | Speaker 2:

I know people that will go sit at the bar and they'll be like, oh, this or they'll be at a restaurant and they'll know the bartender. Oh, this drink wasn't made by Tony. This is made right. Like, you know, they can tell that it's not because someone has a particular style to it.

00:07:32 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 3:

That's that's actually great. Chelsea and I were going to do the same bar all summer long. And Dylan was the guy that was the bartender. And when Dylan wasn't there, Chelsea got pissed because Dylan did a heavy pour of her vodka that she liked, her orange vodka. But it would be different. You know what? Here I bring this thing up, and I think that this doesn't happen, but it happens, I guess, in a lot of things. But what's going on, Corey? Hi, Corey. Hey, Mojo.

00:07:57 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 1:

What's going on, man?

00:07:58 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 3:

Nothing much. What's happening with you?

00:08:01 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 1:

So I got a big question for you. So, like, every time you're out, nobody, like, really replaces you. Why don't you, like, let Mike get an opportunity to tell what he can do?

00:08:10 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 3:

I'm good with that. Let's talk to Tony T, and I think that would be good. And I think that Tony T is the guy that I'm fine with whatever happens as long as it doesn't require me to have to do what they call voice tracking. Because I hear these morning shows sometimes that they'll take a day off and the boss will go, yeah, just do a voice track on the thing. And then, you know.

00:08:33 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 2:

The show is recorded three days in advance.

00:08:35 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'd rather just replay old stuff that I already know it was good than sitting in a production room.

00:08:40 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 1:

Just let Mike shoot from the hip, you know. It'll be all right. I love it. It was smooth out. You got Spike there to rein it in.

00:08:47 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 3:

Although, what happened with the Slightly Messy podcast yesterday, kids? What do you mean?

00:08:52 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 5:

It's up right now. Is it up?

00:08:53 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 3:

I just posted it. When did you guys do it? When did you guys record it? What time was that? Like noon?

00:09:01 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 5:

Like noon. Okay. But I was on the phone for it.

00:09:04 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 3:

I didn't see it at all yesterday, so I was wondering about that.

00:09:06 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Remember when Mike was doing Breaking and Entering, and he was always in his car, and the Slightly Messy show was like, he was on the phone. me road tripped it. I had to do that

00:09:16 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 3:

yesterday. Oh, you did? How was that? How did it play off off the wall? It was great, but

00:09:20 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 5:

I'd love for people who listen to the Slightly Messy Show to try to guess where in the podcast I almost got in a horrific accident.

00:09:28 - 00:09:28 | Unknown:

Great.

00:09:30 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 5:

There might be random shouting of curse words. There might be random whispering of curse words. There might be screeching tires. You find out. I told her if she really

00:09:38 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 3:

wanted ratings, she would have gotten an accident. Oh my gosh. What's up, Steven? Hi, Steve. I know he's there. I can hear the sound. Hold on. Let's hear it. Let's hope Stephen doesn't get into an accident here. Stephen. Thank you.

00:09:59 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

You're so welcome.

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 2:

You're not there, Steve? Maybe his name's not Steven. Whoever's on the phone, say your name.

00:10:06 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 3:

Should we just start guessing? Tim. Charles. Ryan.

00:10:10 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 4:

Lawrence. Edgar. Jumana.

00:10:12 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 3:

Ricardo. Jumana.

00:10:14 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 2:

All right, nobody there. I saw that, Spike, you and Megan. And Megan.

00:10:23 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 4:

I had a date with the Megans yesterday.

00:10:24 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 2:

You and your girlfriend, and then Megan. Who was you with you? Your brother?

00:10:29 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 4:

My brother, yeah.

00:10:30 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 2:

You guys went to go see Beetlejuice?

00:10:33 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 4:

Yes, it was a really good show, by the way. And it just opened at the Opera House. And I like that Megan kind of forced her brother to go because I don't think he's into musicals. And this is like finally she could get him into her world because it's close. She bribed him and said, you want to go hang out with Spike? I don't even know if he knew there was a musical involved. You want to go have some beers with Spike? And then, oh, look what's across the street. Look, there's a musical. But I think he enjoyed it, though.

00:11:00 - 00:11:39 | Speaker 3:

That is exactly what happened. My brother only likes two musicals, and this will tell you exactly who he is if you're a theater person. He likes Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. Oh, yes. Anything crass. He likes Kinky Boots up. He loves Kinky Boots. It makes me so happy. So I've been telling him for forever, like, Beetlejuice is just as funny as Book of Mormon. Beetlejuice is just as fun as Kate. Like, I'm trying to pull in all these aspects. Like, you like this. You're like, my brother had no interest. He loves the movie, does not want to see the musical, did not want to do it. And I go, well, Spike wants to go. And my brother was like, all right, I'm in. What time are we going? Really?

00:11:39 - 00:11:39 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:11:40 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 2:

I did not. So your brother loves hanging out with Spike?

00:11:45 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 3:

Well, my brother literally. Who wouldn't?

00:11:46 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 4:

Why do you make that sound surprising?

00:11:48 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 3:

I'm surprised by that.

00:11:49 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 4:

What?

00:11:50 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 3:

Truly, my brother loves all of you. I think he does have a soft spot in his heart for Mike, though, especially. We have more history with Mike, though, and slappy drunkness. But my brother tells me all the time that I am his least favorite radio personality on the show. So he would rather hang out with any of you than me.

00:12:08 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 4:

That's not a lie. He tells me about all the other good radio people in Toledo. He's like, oh, you ever hear so-and-so? And he never brings up Megan.

00:12:15 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 3:

Truly, I am not my dad or my brother's favorite radio personality of all time in Toledo, in Detroit. They don't think I'm funny. I truly am the sunshine of my family's eyes. And they tell me all the time how I'm an important partner.

00:12:29 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 2:

How about sister and daughter? Are you their favorite of that?

00:12:34 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 3:

No. No.

00:12:36 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 2:

Can you win at least one of their awards that they have?

00:12:40 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 3:

No, that would be asking too much around my family. I just got to keep it all together and put a smile on my face.

00:12:46 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 2:

Where was Beetlejuice at?

00:12:47 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 4:

At the Opera House, downtown Detroit. Very cool.

00:12:50 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 3:

Which I had never been there. Beautiful venue. Oh, my God, that is gorgeous.

00:12:55 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 1:

By the way, tell your brother to get ready because Book of Mormon's here in March.

00:12:58 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 4:

Oh, hell yeah.

00:13:01 - 00:13:02 | Speaker 2:

Spike, you want to go with him?

00:13:02 - 00:13:05 | Speaker 4:

I do because I haven't seen it yet. Oh, it's so good.

00:13:05 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 2:

By the way, would he have gone without you to go and hang out with Spike?

00:13:10 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. I would have talked him into it because it's edgy or reverent. They use the F word a bunch of times on stage.

00:13:17 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 2:

That's, by the way, when you know that your family member doesn't like you when they start booking dates with your friends. Have you ever had that happen to you like before Where all of a sudden it's like your family member Is now talking more to your friends Than you know you're talking to your friends

00:13:32 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 4:

Yeah I was just talking about that last night with Chelsea When we were out to dinner Oh we didn't tell you we were out to dinner last night

00:13:37 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 1:
