good morning oh i thought it was my time to talk oh you know i'll talk early why not i'm ready good morning welcome to the mojo in the morning show uh we got a good one for you today five lies to tell your mom's coming up and a daughter doing a five lies to tell your mom on her mother and when you guys find out where mom is where she answers this phone call I think that you're going to laugh just as hard at the visual of where she picks up the phone and it's not the bathroom okay so it's somewhere else and you will hear where she picks up the phone by listening to this particular five lies tell your mom that's coming up in uh gosh 45 minutes so just after uh seven o'clock i'm not kidding you when i say this to you i was thinking the entire time i'm like i can just picture people just giggling even before the lies are given out because of it's so obvious um your phone scam this hour senseless survey also we've got Shannon with the Dirty, a lot of big breaking Dirty news. And tickets to see Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Lil Wayne all coming up this morning here on the Mojo in the Morning Show. If you don't know this, Spike has an obsession with something. And it is an obsession that sometimes costs you a lot of money.

00:03:38 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, it's expensive. I love my Costco. I walk around Costco like Shannon walks around Target. It's a great analogy. You don't know what you need until you get there, right? You just kind of have to – I went for gas, and then I'm like, I've got to walk around the aisle.

00:03:53 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 3:

Some items you speak to you. So are you a I'll walk around it type? Yes. So you're not going – because when I go to Costco, I go on a mission of getting water and getting toilet paper and stuff like that. I don't ever just seem to find myself bored enough just to walk through it.

00:04:09 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

Sometimes I'll need something like, oh, I need vitamins or I need, you know, batteries. Most of the time I'm making an excuse. That's a lot of vitamins and a lot of batteries. Yeah, I know. Well, that's why also Meg told me stop shopping there because there's two and a half of us. You'll never run out of vitamins. We never, ever use that. I'm still using paper towels from the 2020 COVID pandemic recording. And she gets so mad at me when I go to Costco because I bring home, you know, the 96 ounce peanut M&Ms. that like who's going to eat them and then if i don't have something i need i go anyway because i think well i know i need something i just forget what it is so i'll walk every aisle and or like yesterday i just told her i'll bring home something for dinner so that was my excuse to go walking through the aisle so what i've done now since christ

00:05:00 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 1:

christmas since i saw that january bill come in and i realized how much i spent on costco recently i said i'm gonna limit myself i can't limit myself to visits because it brings me happiness it really truly is one place that makes me smile and plus everybody would miss me there they all

00:05:16 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 2:

know me by name some people go to disney world yeah things like this this is free and cheap

00:05:21 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 1:

well it's not free or cheap but um so now what i do is i say i'll go but i'm not getting a cart because if I'm not pushing a cart around, I can't fill it, and especially their giant carts that they give you. So now what I do is I could walk through Costco, but I can only buy what I can carry. How do you do that there? Because their stuff is so oversized. Well, I have to be creative, and also I have to have dexterity and strength do my curls on the weekend. So yesterday, I was walking through, and I got a speaker bar for the TV. So now I got this big, long box that I didn't think I was going to be carrying around. And that's right at the entrance to the store. So I'm carrying this thing around. Did you need a speaker bar? I didn't need a speaker bar. Well, everyone needs a speaker. I just figured the TV in the basement has horrible speakers in it. And if you're watching a game, you want better sound. So I've got that. Now, that's like a three-and-a-half-foot box walking through the aisles, trying not to clothesline any old people. And then I got two bags of chips for Super Bowl party. Where'd you put those? Well, I had one in each hand that I twisted them around my finger so I can kind of dangle them under the speaker bar. Then I got a big block of cheese for the party. Then I got, what else did I get? Oh, K-Cups, the Keurig pods. Oh, my God. That's a big box. Yeah. And then I got Meg Flowers. And so then I was at...

00:06:55 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 2:

By the way, when they sell flowers, do they sell them in bulk?

00:06:59 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 1:

No, it's just a bouquet, but it's dripping down my arm because I couldn't put it in the other arm because I had strategically Tetris-ed my other five items in that arm. This excites me so much. I just got a Costco card. I've never even really walked through the store. Oh, it's dangerous. Get ready. Because there's a whole psychological science to how they put things on the end cap and what's at eye level and what you're going to buy that you didn't know you went in for.

00:07:25 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 2:

If you can walk out of Costco, my goal is always if I can get under $100, I've won. And I've had that happen to me a couple of times, but you have to be very careful about that. You have to make sure that you – because they do make you walk through the expensive area. I never really buy electronics, though, only because I really don't – like a Sonos bar and stuff like that.

00:07:46 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 1:

Oh, you get good deals there.

00:07:47 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 2:

I watch closed captioning on my television, so I don't look at that. But, no, but that's actually a good...

00:07:53 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 1:

So it's all balanced in two arms, and there's two other items I'm not even remembering. Oh, wait, hold on.

00:07:57 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 2:

Two more items? Yeah, there was a total of nine things. Let's go through. So you got a Sonos bar, two bags of chips. A block of cheese.

00:08:04 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 1:

One, two, three, four. Flowers for Meg. Five. Yeah, there was nine things on the receipt, because I was so proud of myself that I got under ten. You said you were going to get something for dinner. I never got any... Oh, I did get, I got shaved beef in the frozen section, so I'm going to make cheesesteaks for the Phillies for the Eagles Super Bowl. Oh, that sounds good. So that's six items. Oh, I got the rolls for that, so that's seven. I'm forgetting two things.

00:08:32 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 2:

For those people that don't understand the Costco experience, when you go in, you then have to wait in a long line to check out.

00:08:44 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 1:

No, not anymore.

00:08:45 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 2:

Really? Yeah.

00:08:46 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, they put all those self-checkouts in, and it's super fast.

00:08:50 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Oh, really? Because I feel like that line sometimes goes down.

00:08:52 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

Well, I found the magic time. You have to go, like, I never go on weekends. That's a nightmare. But I figured out, because I was here until 3.30 yesterday, so I got up there at 4, filled with gas. So by the time when it was 4.15, so all the shoppers went home to start making dinner. So it was, like, empty in there, and that's the...

00:09:09 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

But you have to wait in line to go check out, okay? The line could be long or not. But then you have to also talk to...

00:09:15 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 1:

Oh, pierogies! So I got frozen pierogies. Oh, you got so excited. Oh, my God. That's eight. It scared me.

00:09:20 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 2:

On your way out, you also have to go walk by the guy that puts the Sharpie line through your thing.

00:09:25 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 1:

No, when you do the self-checkout, they'll Sharpie line it right there for you when you check out. Oh, so you don't have to. You cut this down. Yeah. Why do you have to get Sharpied? They check your, you know, to make sure you paid for everything when you walk out. Because sometimes they want to make sure there's nothing on the underside of the cart they forgot to ring up or whatever. It's another weird psychological thing they do. They really don't do anything. No, it's a weird deterrent of nothing.

00:09:48 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Caitlin, Mojo on the morning show, Spike's new technique is to just hold everything in his arms, and it sounds like he can grab just as much in his arms as he can with a cart. What's going on? A lot of people do try that.

00:10:00 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 5:

and I mean I work on the front end so I mean I see everything come through I mean you'll have people carrying things and trying to make it and then like I see people drop stuff all the time too

00:10:12 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 4:

why don't they have baskets like they have at the grocery store or Target where you can walk through with a basket

00:10:18 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 5:

I mean I think they just don't want the extra plastic as well but I mean we have plenty of boxes I've seen people grab the floor too

00:10:25 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 4:

and people carry a box around

00:10:27 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 3:

plus everything is Bulk size So you're going to fill one item With the basket The basket is going to have like one thing in it Your K-Cups No, the Chicago The K-Cups and the Chicago Mix I had 10 items

00:10:41 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 4:

You didn't say Chicago Mix

00:10:44 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, the Chicago Mix Popcorn

00:10:45 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 4:

Kaylin, which Costco do you work at In our listening area?

00:10:51 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 5:

I work at the one in Novi-Livonia area

00:10:54 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 4:

Okay, yeah, it's a good one Do you know JE? I've been there once tomorrow. Are you friends with J.E.? He works there.

00:11:01 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 5:

I believe so.

00:11:02 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. Tell him that we said hi. He's the guy that starts early in the morning because he sends me text messages at 3 a.m.

00:11:09 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 5:

I will let him know.

00:11:10 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 4:

Okay.

00:11:11 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 3:

See, here's the thing, then. I know everybody there. So then I'm walking out to my car, and Larry and everybody at the front is waving to me like, Hey, Spike. And I'm like, I can't wave. I got my hands are all full. And they're like, you'll be back next week.

00:11:26 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 4:

How do you leave without going to get a smoothie, a hot dog, or a slice of pizza from the greatest vending area?

00:11:34 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 3:

Because she was saying, you still bought just as much stuff. I said, but this is good for my diet because I couldn't put anything down. And they just added a new ice cream sundae in the last month.

00:11:46 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 4:

Really? Caitlin, tell us more. What's this ice cream sundae they got?

00:11:48 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 3:

The fudge one. The what one? The fudge sundae. I never saw. Now they have three ice cream sundaes. They used to have two.

00:11:56 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 5:

Well, we've had the fudge one before.

00:11:59 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 3:

Oh, Hagerty, fancy.

00:12:01 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 5:

So, yeah, you can get the plain one, you can get one with fudge, or you can get one with the berries on it. Yeah.

00:12:06 - 00:12:09 | Speaker 3:

So I never saw the fudge one on the menu of commerce before.

00:12:09 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 2:

I just got my Costco card from Tony, our boss, for Christmas, and I took the kids for the very first time. Oh, wow. That's a mistake, all the toys. No, they thought it was, like, the greatest day of their lives. Really? They loved it because they've never seen stuff that was that big.

00:12:26 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 3:

You want Legos, they got bodies You can fit There's a lot of women that also haven't seen things

00:12:33 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 2:

But just like the snacks They couldn't believe how big all the snacks And the candy and stuff was

00:12:39 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 4:

Oh my god Did you explain to them that people go there And buy for their candy stores Families just should be buying all that stuff

00:12:47 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 2:

Yeah I mean we got a lot of snacks We didn't get any candy But now they're asking can we go to Costco It's like a new thing

00:12:53 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 1:

Allie and I just got a Costco card We've never had a membership, never had anything. We haven't even had a chance to walk through the store yet. So we decided for Valentine's Day this weekend, we're going to go out to like a nice dinner and then go to Costco and buy each other a gift from Costco. I don't even know what's there.

00:13:07 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 2:

I love it.

00:13:08 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 3:

Caitlin, I went in your store a couple months ago for wine. I came out with a Christmas tree.

00:13:16 - 00:13:17 | Unknown:

Welcome to Costco.

00:13:17 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, welcome to Costco. Mike, there's a lot of stuff there. I'm telling you. Oh, my gosh, yeah. Go down the frozen food area. You can get like mini taquitos.

00:13:26 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 2:

You can get knockoffs of Starbucks bacon gouda sandwich. Yum, yum, yum, yum, writing this down.

00:13:31 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 4:

Delicious stuff. I would have got the lobster ravioli, but I was out of room.

00:13:34 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 6:

It's hard to get after a shift with stuff.

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, right. Carissa, what's going on?

00:13:39 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 6:

Good morning. Hi.

00:13:41 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 4:

Good morning.

00:13:41 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 6:

So I'm an avid Costco shopper. There are Facebook groups that will show you the Costco signs, and I suggest joining them unless you don't want to spend any more money. But I live in a housing cooperative There's like 20-something of us adults And we do shared food Costco's the best place for us to shop We go about every week And

00:14:05 - 00:14:11 | Speaker 3:

But you don't all go, right? Do you take turns? Because if everybody goes You start putting things in the cart That you're not supposed to get

00:14:11 - 00:14:18 | Speaker 4:

Shared food You just buy one of those large pizzas To heat up at home That thing will feed the entire community there

00:14:18 - 00:14:26 | Speaker 6:

That would probably feed just like three people because adults love to eat at this house. Really?

00:14:27 - 00:14:29 | Speaker 4:

So do you save money living in this cooperative?

00:14:30 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, it's a housing cooperative. We focus on low housing costs, which is very helpful during this time. And then we have shared food, so it gets all of your staple items. It's $90 a month, and that'll get you everything that you pretty much need except meat. You have to buy your own meat.

00:14:52 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 3:

Well, how's the sound on your TV? Because I got a $50 off sound bar. So no.

00:14:57 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 6:
