Good morning. and welcome to the Mojo in the Morning show. It's nice to have you guys with us today. Today is Wednesday, which means we got a lot of stuff coming up today. Phone scams, senseless surveys, five lies to tell your mom. All happening this morning on the show. The prizes just got even bigger after yesterday's big Ticketmaster mess. Taylor Swift tickets. We'll talk about that in just a second and how you can win them and exactly the time that you can win them before you can buy them. I can't figure it out. Taylor Swift tickets at $7.50 just got even better because yesterday Ticketmaster effed it up for everyone. Actually, to be honest with you, I don't necessarily know if it was just Ticketmaster. Maybe it was the whole tour because the whole idea that twice as many people signed up for a pre-sale than there were tickets available probably is not a good idea. And yesterday, the Taylor Swift concert tickets went on sale for a pre-sale, and so many people were stuck online. I think all I saw on social media was the timer of how long people were on.

Or where you are in the queue.

Yeah, that was the problem with this.

Wondering why Ticketmaster's site was down on Tuesday? Bad blood between Swifties and Ticketmaster reaching a boiling point. Fans attempting to buy pre-sale tickets to Taylor's Eras tour stuck in the live event site's digital queue for hours after the site appeared to freeze. Swifties taking to social media, calling the pre-sale a nightmare. an absolute dumpster fire, and one person saying it's called the ERA's tour because if you try to log into Ticketmaster, all you get are ERA messages. Things throughout the day on Tuesday reporting delays and glitches that rendered them ticketless. Please, God, please. You can't make it.

No, what just happened?

A spokesperson for Ticketmaster telling ABC News millions of fans registered for Taylor Swift's ERA's verified fan presale with demand more than twice the number of tickets available. Then on top of that, millions more showed up to try to buy.

By the way, the interesting thing is go on TikTok and watch the TikToks that were put together by dads and moms of their kids being frustrated trying to get these tickets.

But for some, Tuesday's snafu is indicative of a bigger problem. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeting, Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly. Its merger with Live Nation should never have been approved, and they need to be reined in. Break them up. But now this morning, resale sites like StubHub have tickets listed at much higher prices. Two tickets for a Saturday show in New Jersey listed at more than $35,000 each.

Each. Each. What? $35,000. By the way, you should have your debit card, credit card, whatever you're buying it, taken away from you if you spend $70,000 on two tickets for a concert.

Millionaire parents that don't want to see their kids cry that are willing to pay. I'll pay $35,000 just so that news guy doesn't spit on me anymore when he talks.

I know. And stop with the puns. My girlfriend was trying to get tickets to the June 19th show. I don't know what city that's in. And she said that the resale tickets, $22,500 for two seats together. What?

Why June 19th? Why is she not wanting to?

Maybe she's on vacation and it was that city. I don't even know what city it is, but she texted me yesterday. She said, this is bonkers. Nosebleeds are $500 plus a seat.

Well, the crazy part about it is the Ticketmaster knew how many people signed up for presale, right? They knew how many people got the codes from Capital One and all that. So they knew how many people were signed up as verified fans and were going to try to get tickets yesterday. So then how did the system not handle those amount of people?

They crashed their servers. But the annoying part about Ticketmaster in general is the more people in line and the more demand, the more they increase the ticket prices. If they say the tickets are for sale for $125 a seat, that is a lie. If there is 10,000 people on the website trying to sign up, Those immediately go up in price based on Ticketmaster's own choices.

By the way, is it Ticketmaster or is it the artists, too, though, that are agreeing to do this? Well, it's both. It's both. Because there's no way that Ticketmaster's pocketing all this money.

They're in it together. You get a share of it. You may have heard of the great Bruce Springsteen ticket debacle, but that's where they experimented with this and realized all those boomers that wanted to see Springsteen or Paul McCartney were willing to pay more to get good seats. So they set up this algorithm in the computers based on how many people were trying to access those seats. All the problem is algorithm. Well, it's computers. They figured out this many people want tickets. We can keep raising the price because we know we'll sell them all at $4,000 each.

Well, $7.50 this morning. You listen to the Mojo in the Morning Show, and you have a better chance of winning than actually ever getting a pre-sale ticket. So I would make sure that you're listening live to us. And if you're not listening live right now in your.

You're listening to this podcast later in the day. Tomorrow morning, whatever morning it is, you've got to do it. And let me just also go on record to say this. Our jingle ball, with eight artists or nine artists on it, started at $35. I mean, I have to be honest. I think Taylor Swift is wonderful, and I think that she's mesmerizing. She is not mesmerizing to pay even $1,000 a ticket to go see a Taylor Swift concert. When you can't decide if you're going to actually have a holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving, and you're going out spending that kind of money, I'm going, oh, my God. All right. I will do this. I'll buy the concert on television. Is there any way I can just sit on my couch and the pay-per-views?

Well, she added 12 more concert dates this week because she knew it was going to be this popular.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. If I'm this artist, if I'm Taylor Swift, why not do at least two, if not three nights in every city? It's going to sell You're going to make A butt ton of money And you get to spend More time in each place They hate like Moving all of the time Spend more time In each city

I don't know Do you like that idea better Like the Harry Styles idea Of doing like Mini residencies in places Or do you think That her coming to the city And at least giving you A chance to see her I don't know I don't necessarily know I'd rather see her come to my town.

I didn't say if it was a good idea. I think she is still going to add a few more shows here and there. She's going to sprinkle them in.

She is playing the biggest venues in all the cities. She's playing Ford Field here. She's doing the place where the Giants play in New York City, like all the big places.

It's a catch-22 because when I saw Harry, he did 15 nights in one city. That's huge. In a big city, in a big stadium, that's a lot of tickets. I love that. But I also understood the privilege that I had that I could fly somewhere and stay in a hotel and take time off of work. And not everybody has that opportunity. So I think when you go to cities and you actually travel the country, it's more accessible to people. But it's also more frustrating because they're usually smaller venues in these towns. So if you're not doing multiple nights, you're just going to gouge the ticket prices anyways and price people out of going. And now it's getting to the point where I used to go to concerts all the time. Now you're picking maybe one show a year. And if you're not getting tickets to the artists that you want to go to, that can be absolutely heartbreaking.

There were summers I would go to weekly concerts, and now it's like you have to pick your one or two favorites and just save for those. But I just, going back to Ticketmaster, just cracks me up how they sent out the press release afterwards saying, this was a historically unprecedented, I'm like, no, you knew the exact amount of people that were going to sign into your servers that morning for tickets. So it was the most, it was actually very precedented.

Why don't they limit the amount of people that can sign up for a pre-sale to the amount of tickets that they have for the pre-sale? Is it because the sponsor is spending so much money for the pre-sale thing?

Well, no, it's because they want to have every possible fan. They don't want to turn it away. If they could sell out the whole venue in pre-sale, they will, and then everybody else gets shut out. They want to guarantee the fervor and excitement for these tickets. The problem is they just don't have their computers to handle them.

Also, how smart is it that they did this? Because everybody was on TikTok Live streaming their Q process. Everybody was talking about it on Twitter. we're talking about it today on the news like this is that good marketing for taylor really huge demand for her shows look at what a big superstar she i don't know i tell you what

if i if i went on tiktok and saw everybody crying and being pissed off over the fact that they couldn't get it i mean obviously people's being people are uh pushing their their anger towards ticket master but eventually the artist towards the artist when they get locked out completely

next week and realize they're all sold out and they didn't get their tickets it's going to be Those 50s are not going to blame Taylor. The best tweet I saw was, if Chick-fil-A was in charge of Ticketmaster's line, we would have had tickets in minutes.

tickets actually my daughter got them probably within 20-25 minutes oh my god so you experienced However, it crashed as soon as I was in queue to purchase my tickets. I was not able to actually check out. It crashed right when I was checking out. So I didn't get to purchase mine, but she got to purchase hers.

Well, how many tickets do you really need? There's only two of you.

Well, she was trying to buy them for her and all her friends. Now she's stuck giving two of her tickets to me and her little sister.

Well, that's nice. You know what? She should. You birthed her. You actually, you know.

And we know who's paying for them.

But I did also read somewhere that they said anybody that actually had the verified codes was still going to be able to purchase tickets at some point. I don't know how true it is. Yeah, they put out a press release.

Yeah, they said, well, try again tomorrow. And they don't realize a lot of people stayed home from work and school yesterday to try and get those tickets. So what are you going to do the next day?

That's going to actually probably screw then the on sale for everyone on Friday.

Well, it is supposed to be that Capital One pre-sale, so I don't think we're allowed for that one because they were different codes. So I'm curious to see how this is actually going to play out to all the people that still have codes that weren't able to use them.

How much were your tickets? Because we're hearing that the prices, even here, are kind of expensive for some of the seats.

She got the $89 tickets with all the fees and taxes. It came up to $140,000

She got really lucky That is by far the cheapest I've heard Where is she sitting?
