location. This is the Bishop's Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators and business leaders have to say.

00:01:07 - 00:01:52 | Speaker 1:

My name is Natarika, Terry LaMille and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

It's Mojo in the morning. I got to tell you guys, I am, I'm just not getting it, man. I might be of just that different generation, but, you know, I think I'm a rational human being when it comes to things.

00:02:44 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 2:

Irrational human being or rational?

00:02:46 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 5:

I'm a rational. I am a rational human being. um so i won't say who the person is because if i do it will probably cost the radio station some money so i'm on the the phone with excuse me sorry on the phone with a uh a client of this radio station and they say to me uh okay well call me back but text me before you call and i said okay and I go why and they said well I want you to just text me before you call and I go why would I have to text you before I call I why don't I just call you know I'm going to be doing it I said it's like 10 minutes I'm going to do it and they're like no just text me before you call and then they hung up the phone and I hung up the phone I was like kind of a little salty because I was driving so I was like you know not that I don't text and drive I do I hate to admit that and it's stupid I don't I know that but I'm thinking isn't that doing the same thing that's like call me hang up the phone and then call me right back no he's right or she it was a she oh she's right yes so but why is she right first off first off you sound like my son because I was having this I got so home I got home I was so so cranky I was telling somebody else I selling Jeff Sackwell on the phone the same thing I'm like have you ever heard of this text me before and Jeff's like isn't that stupid he goes girls will say that to me sometimes like you know it is the same thing

00:04:17 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 4:

as if you're gonna come over and knock on the door text or call first and say you're coming

00:04:21 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 2:

oh well I 100% agree with that I think the text before you call though is relevant if I like I would say that to you if I needed to make sure that I was in a quiet space and away from people

00:04:36 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

to talk to you but I basically was telling I was telling him 10 minutes I'm calling you right back you know 10 minutes 10 minutes and and i get the whole quiet space thing that's fine megan your analogy is wrong is it because it's so good you can't argue it it's wrong because what you said was truth i'd rather have somebody contact me before they walk over come over and just ring my doorbell

00:05:00 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 3:

Because I want to have forewarning. But you already know that that's going on. Call me old-fashioned, or maybe I have clearly clumsy thumbs. But if I have a choice between texting or making a phone call to converse with somebody, I choose to actually make the phone call and just call them.

00:05:21 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 4:

That's fine and dandy. They just want to be prepared and make sure that they're available for the conversation. Even if you say 10 minutes, anything happens. Yeah, that's true. They just want to make sure they're available.

00:05:32 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 1:

See, I think it's unnecessary. If you said, hey, I'm going to call you this afternoon, then I could understand her saying, okay, just text before you call. But you literally gave the exact amount of time.

00:05:45 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 4:

I know. Even in those situations, I've had moments where it's been a job. Like somebody was calling me for a job interview.

00:05:52 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 1:

Oh, you don't want to be on the show anymore?

00:05:54 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 4:

No, no, no. Like this is, no, it's not that. 10 minutes can go extremely quickly. Like, you can look at your phone, and it'd be 1 o'clock, and then you know the job is at 1 o'clock.

00:06:03 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 3:

Then you'd set the timer on your phone.

00:06:07 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 4:

No, that's ridiculous. I'm not setting a timer for you to call me back.

00:06:09 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 3:

All right, here's the thing. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548 is our telephone number. Or if you want to text me before you call, you can text 95500. I want to know what you think about this. The whole idea, like, what is the phone thing that drives you crazy?

00:06:25 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 4:

Like for, I'm sorry, for example, we have dirty on a 30. We have time for things that we never are on time for. So you say, I'm going to call you in 10 minutes. That's like saying we're going to do the dirty at 30. It never happens.

00:06:39 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 3:

I am on time for nothing on the show, but for everything that deals with the monetary values. And, and, and I want, I want you to know that I, I am a regular, I'd rather just text you. Okay. I am fine with that. You just said you would rather call. No, I said I would rather do the one thing. I would do that one thing. Hold on a second. Is there another Wes in this world, or do I know only one Wes? I think I know only one Wes.

00:07:09 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 5:

This is your Wes.

00:07:10 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 6:

Why are you calling for this topic? Because I'm driving to work. Shannon, what do you hate that I do after I call you?

00:07:21 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 1:

you say hey just tried to call you didn't you didn't answer and i'm like i see that you i have

00:07:29 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 6:

a missed call from you yeah i hate that anybody who says but give the courtesy text before you call why is it not okay to send the courtesy hey called you after because i see that i have a missed call but yeah not as different wait wait but to mojo's point you don't have to do any of it if She just puts up the phone. That's true, too.

00:07:49 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 3:

So wait, so are you saying that Shannon...

00:07:51 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 1:

Don't side with him. Shannon doesn't... No, no, no.

00:07:53 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 3:

I actually am half-sided with him, too. Wes, you're saying that Shannon never picks up your phone calls. That's not true. She does the thing, too.

00:08:00 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 5:

She busts me like crazy. I do not.

00:08:03 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 3:

I do not. She has on her phone message, leave me a text, because I would rather have a text than have you...

00:08:09 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 1:

I'm not going to listen to your voicemail. She won't listen to the voicemails. I flat out say it. Send me a text.

00:08:12 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 3:

She's as bad listening to voicemails as Megan is looking at a text.

00:08:15 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I won't look at a text. And I'm not going to pick up your call, so just don't contact me. Leave me alone.

00:08:21 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 3:

Do you know that I have a special ring for Chelsea? Because when it rings, I know I've got to pick this damn thing up.

00:08:26 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 1:

Do you have a special ring for me, Wesley?

00:08:29 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 5:

I do not, but I did have one for my ex-wife for a while. Wait.

00:08:33 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

Why did you say that? Oh, so she got a phone ring. You did not have to say that.

00:08:40 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 3:

Hey, Wes.

00:08:41 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 1:

Not answering any phone calls from you today.

00:08:42 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 3:

I saw you and Shannon were out somewhere yesterday on Shannon's story. Did she pick out your outfit or agreed to that outfit?

00:08:50 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 6:

I didn't. I hate you guys.

00:08:54 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 3:

What's up, Nick? How you doing?

00:08:57 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 2:

Good. How are you?

00:08:58 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 3:

Good. What's going on?

00:09:00 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 2:

So, I mean, I understand your frustration, but I actually probably going to get yelled at when I come to work today, but every single time I send an email to my boss, I have to send him a text letting him know that I sent him an email. And before I call him, I have to send him a text message asking him if it's okay for him to talk. The second one I get. Your little client situation, fuck it up. But the second one I get.

00:09:29 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 3:

I understand. The second one is okay. Hey, do you got a second to talk? The first one, that boss is an a-hole.

00:09:37 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 2:

I'm not going to make any comments on that one.

00:09:38 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 4:

I did not confirm nor did not.

00:09:41 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 3:

Candice, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:09:44 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 6:

So it sounds like to me that someone's irresponsible with their time. Is this not a professional relationship?

00:09:50 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 3:

It is.

00:09:51 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 6:

Like, are we not all adults here?

00:09:53 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 3:

Yes.

00:09:53 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 6:

Oh, you're on schedule all day? Oh, hello. Hello. What are you talking about? Why are you calling us out? Because, no, I'm saying that this is a professional relationship. In my place of business, I am on time. But, like, if I'm going to a friend's house and I'm going to be late, yeah, I'm going to call him and be like, hey, I'm going to be late. Sorry, I'm not a breath. I'm moving wood. But, no, like.

00:10:20 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 3:

What are you doing? Wait, what are you doing? Are you on a treadmill or what are you doing?

00:10:25 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 6:

No, I have a wood stove in my house. and well somebody has to get the wood into the house so oh you're moving wood i'm so jealous of you and your wood stove that's a you that's oh my god please no it's so exhausting uh what's

00:10:41 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 5:

up marissa hi how are you hi i was just saying i hate when people call me and then they don't leave a voicemail and then i'm clearly busy so i'll shoot them a text and say hey what's up i'm busy and then they do just get ghosted for like an hour i hate that is by the way that is actually

00:11:00 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 3:

a bad thing too when they because you want to make sure that there's they're okay and all they have they just called you why can't they just say no nothing important tony travato our boss is great at if you call him he'll say hey i'm on a call call you call you right back i do appreciate that um i realize i'm the jerk that doesn't answer him back and say okay sometimes so that so that I at least show it. But you're right, though. If you do that, you're being caring about them, and if they don't answer you back, they're not caring back. What's up, Judy? Hello. What's up? What's going on?

00:11:33 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 6:

Nothing. I was just saying, like, if I'm going to tell you, text me before you call me, it's because I want to make sure I'm not around my boyfriend or my husband. Oh.

00:11:42 - 00:11:43 | Unknown:

Oh.

00:11:43 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 2:

I'm not in business, or are you getting yourself into your boyfriend or husband? Oh, wait a second. Boyfriend or husband?

00:11:50 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 3:

I like this. War of the Roses in moments. Shelby, what's up?

00:11:56 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 7:

Hi.

00:11:57 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 3:

Hi.

00:12:00 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 7:

I just wanted to let you guys know I love you guys. I listen to you every morning. I'm a bus driver. We love you, too. Thank you. I listen to you on my bus, but I just wanted to call because I personally hate talking on the phone. So if I text you.

00:12:18 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 3:

She's talking to us.

00:12:19 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 7:

on the phone right now but she hates talking on the phone well i i've talked to you guys obviously thank you that's flattering like my like my grandfather for example he will like i'll text him something and he'll call me immediately and i'm like oh like i texted you for a reason he's

00:12:37 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 3:

00:12:41 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 7:

00:12:47 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 3:

for him but yeah if anything just text me we love you shelby thank you for the call uh eric what

00:12:53 - 00:13:12 | Speaker 8:

did you want to say hey uh so the whole beginning of the thing is it's because the monetary gains is a radio station right so the client relationship yes all right client service man i don't care if you got a text before you call or if they want you to take them out to lunch or anything

00:13:12 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 3:

you're right gotta do it man listen i gotta protect those advertisers i don't want those guys going over to the scumbags across the street you know exactly gotta keep them right now i mean

00:13:20 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 8:

honestly i'm over personally i'm with you like i really don't i'll call you yeah no i and i agree

00:13:27 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 3:

and listen and it's a and it's a and it's a long-term advertiser and we love them so much but

00:13:32 - 00:13:48 | Speaker 4:

zachariah what's up zachariah yo yo yo mojo and the team so yo what do they expect what do they expect. You're going to send them a text, right? You're like, hey, I'm calling, and boom, you call. Do they even read the text? That's true.

00:13:49 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 3:

That's actually a really good thing. Do I have to wait to call them before they reply? But then you'd have to text again

00:13:54 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 2:

when you actually call.

00:13:56 - 00:13:59 | Speaker 3:

That's true. That's too much. Zach, you bring up a very good point.

00:13:59 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 2:
