This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 2:

My name is Medterica, Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

00:01:51 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 3:

Mojo in the morning show. I was watching K.P.'s story last night, and one of the girls on The Bachelor you went to school with?

00:02:28 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 4:

Yes, so I went to college with Miss Parisa, who is on the season's Bachelor, which is so cool. She's beautiful. Isn't she? Is she from Birmingham? Yeah, she is. She is probably one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

00:02:40 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 7:

You call her Miss?

00:02:42 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 4:

No, her name is Parisa. I just said Miss Parisa.

00:02:44 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 7:

Miss Parisa. I was going to say, that's kind of cool, man. That's kind of like badass as a beautiful young woman, like she is, to sit there and go, Miss Parisa. Shifte? Did you see her, Kev?

00:02:58 - 00:03:00 | Speaker 4:

Is this her right here? Parisa Marie? Oh, yeah. That's her.

00:03:00 - 00:03:00 | Unknown:

All right.

00:03:00 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 7:

She's very attractive. How cool, was it weird for you to watch her, like, first off, the guy in this, look at The Bachelor. I know, right?

00:03:08 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 4:

Well, that's the thing that I thought was so strange. Like, we got a watch party together of our sorority sisters because she was a part of my sorority we didn't have the same class so i never got to be in the actual active sorority with her but we're both alumni now and so we all got together to watch her on the first episode and it was kind of weird to see someone we know on the bachelor like kind of i mean celebrity status we were watching her instagram followers like she started at like 9 000 and she went up to like 12 thousand by the time her little appearance

00:03:40 - 00:03:44 | Speaker 7:

happened. From being on there. Yeah, she's got twelve thousand, twelve point three.

00:03:44 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, so it's crazy to see someone that you know or that you went to school with get

00:03:50 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 7:

so big. I had this happen to me.

00:03:52 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 4:

For real? Yeah.

00:03:54 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 7:

One of my actually really good buddies since grade school was one of the, was the, I think the first apprentice on that Donald Trump apprentice. For real?

00:04:02 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 4:

Bill Rancic. Isn't it weird? Yeah. It's like a weird feeling. It's like, is this

00:04:06 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 7:

real? And the wildest part was that he then took it to like the next level and then got a celebrity wife. He ended up marrying that Juliana Rancic who was on E! News Daily and stuff. See, that's how you do it. So this girl, so Parisa, which she's local and stuff. Does she still live here or no? Because I'm looking at her Instagram and it looks like she's spending a lot of time in other places.

00:04:29 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 4:

I don't know. I think from what I see on her social media, it looks like she travels and does a lot of things, but I don't know if she's living here. It says she's from Birmingham.

00:04:36 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 7:

Well, look at you, by the way. you're famous too come on kp first off you have more followers than she does you got 19.9 000 instagram followers you got millions on tiktok that's famous well i feel like my friends also

00:04:52 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

think it's weird to hear me on the radio too so it's like that same same idea seeing someone on tv and then seeing hearing somebody on a radio station

00:05:00 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 1:

into their whole life i kind of had a situation like this i was leaving i forgot where i was leaving but i was hungry and i went to mcdonald's and the person who took my order was this girl i went to high school with and i was so happy to see her because i'm like throw some more fries in the back you know you come on was she not nice to you when you were gone everybody was cool and she threw me the extra fries celebrity oh i thought you were like happy that she had to work at mcdonald's or something i was geeked you were geeked that she was mcdonald's and you got a personal connection late night shit wow that's great i uh i'm always surprised that what people do that i grew up with like i we had one guy mike gacious who is the manager of the macy's men's department by my house and i saw him when i went home for christmas holiday and i'm like i never would have thought that and then there's a couple other people like john chang i've talked about before he's like one of the biggest plastic surgeons down in miami i knew he was gonna be famous one day because he just had that thing to him you know he was like smart he went to like northwestern and then there were a couple of people like mark wood who's dead unfortunately but he but he was the guy that was kind of like the rebel guy and he ended up i think dying you

00:06:18 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 4:

know from drugs well i had a friend who lived back in uh when i lived in tampa who had someone she went to high school with become a killer like literally she found they became a serial not a serial killer but they had been accused of murdering people you don't know who you go to school with and what they're going to do what they're going to become be nice to everybody

00:06:40 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 1:

if you have a friend Shannon if you have a friend that could be like Parisa on The Bachelor or a friend that could have been a story on Dateline NBC with Keith Morrison i know you would prefer yeah oh i want a friend on date yeah um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 with kp having gone to school with this girl that's on the bachelor how about you did you have anybody that you went to school with and what did they end up doing that turned out to be something kind of interesting let me throw out anything that we just did as an example 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548 is a telephone number. Do you think we'll get an interview with her? Like if she becomes the girl? Maybe.

00:07:27 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 2:

They can't do anything while the show is currently on. I feel like, well, no, it's done taping now.

00:07:35 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 1:

Tell her that we were talking about her. And also tell, I mean, listen, we're rooting for her. We'll root for her on that. Yeah. There's so many people.

00:07:42 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 4:

We're the fights of love.

00:07:42 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 1:

There's so many people locally that go on these different shows.

00:07:47 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 4:

I had a friend go on one of these competition shows, got super drunk and told me how they finished.

00:07:52 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 1:

Oh, really? Did you keep it a secret?

00:07:55 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 4:

I did keep it a secret, but it was wild. Well, it's the same thing that happened to Taylor Hale. She was Miss Michigan USA, then she went on Big Brother and won the whole dang thing. Wow. It's crazy how you could just get on these shows and do this stuff.

00:08:09 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

Is Taylor Hale related to Jen Hale, the sports?

00:08:14 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 4:

I don't know. It's probably a common last name.

00:08:16 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 1:

Simon. No, because I think Jen comes here all the time. She comes to town, so I wondered if there was any relation. Jenny, are you there? Listener Jenny? I'm here. What's going on?

00:08:25 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 3:

Good morning. What's happening?

00:08:26 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 1:

We're talking about people you went to school with and them turning to be something.

00:08:31 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah. Yeah, so in my graduating class of 2002, I won't say the high school, but we have three murderers. That's great.

00:08:43 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 1:

What high school is this?

00:08:45 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 3:

I'll say it. South Lyon High School. And to all my South Lyon people out there, they know who they are.

00:08:51 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, shout out to the murderers. That's their mascot name. The South Lyon murderers.

00:08:58 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 3:

Oh, it's crazy, too. Some of them are just wild stories.

00:09:02 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 1:

you can look them up that's amazing god i i don't know i'd say i love that but that's uh that's kind of a cool first call what's up laurie how you doing hi how are you good laurie you cannot top the girl that just called up jenny who said that she went to school with three murderers

00:09:19 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

00:09:33 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 1:

i know i was i'm going like so really you went to school with kristin schiff

00:09:38 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

don't worry he can't get our names right to um east kentwood oh okay that's where all my

00:09:46 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 1:

cousins went what did she win with a quiche or what did she win with i don't even know

00:09:52 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

I don't remember that, but I know that she got voted off and then they did like a comeback.

00:10:00 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 6:

round where the people who got voted off had to compete against like the next person who got voted off and if they made it all the way to the top they they went to the end and got to compete with the last two contestants and then she ended up winning that's cool okay that's very cool i got

00:10:15 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 4:

a a texter here says i went to divine child with aiden hutchinson that's a cool one that's a good one will is on with us will this is a good now back to the murderers will what's up will what's

00:11:50 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

I want to know what episodes those were called. Yes. You've got to pick up seven. All right. Okay. Real quick. I'm going to grab seven. Seven after Mackenzie. Mackenzie went. Who'd you go to school with, Mackenzie?

00:12:49 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 6:

00:12:55 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 4:

Phoenix Suns. I know. Come home, Devin. Could you imagine if we could get him? Him and Kate. Oh, my God. Dan, hi. What's up? How you doing?

00:13:05 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 5:

Hi. Yeah, I went to high school with a girl who turned out to be a huge P-star.

00:13:10 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 4:

Oh. Really? No, no. A porn star. Oh, we can't say more? Yeah, you can say porn star. Okay. She's a porn star? Who is she? What's her name? Mia Khalifa?

00:13:20 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 5:

That's the only one I know. I'm not going to say her real name. Man, say her.

00:13:25 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 4:

Come on. Say her real name. It's her on the Google.

00:13:29 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 5:

00:13:33 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 6:

No applause until you tell us the name.

00:13:35 - 00:13:42 | Speaker 4:

Come on. Tell her her name in what class, graduating class, the proud graduating class of and category.

00:13:42 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 5:

I think it was class of 19, but I know I can't do the name. You don't want to do it?

00:13:47 - 00:13:51 | Speaker 4:

At Bishop State Community College, we want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:15:06 - 00:15:51 | Speaker 3:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. for me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition. Not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.
