American Social Casino. Happy Cinco de Mayo.

00:02:31 - 00:02:39 | Speaker 3:

With so much drama in the LBC, it's kind of hard being Snoop Dio. I feel like we need to celebrate some Cinco de Mayo.

00:02:39 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 4:

I was telling Shannon that having had worked in Arizona when I was kind of like starting my career, my radio career, Cinco de Mayo in Arizona was like how St. Patrick's Day is here. And I feel like Cinco de Mayo doesn't get as much of a celebration here as it should.

00:03:06 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 7:

I agree with you.

00:03:06 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 4:

And I think that we need to figure out a way to make it more fun because especially being a Friday, this is the thing. And I'll also be honest with you, too. I feel like I love Mexican food. Like, I feel like you, you know, that's one of those things where you can have Mexican food, you know, almost as much as you can have pizza.

00:03:29 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 7:

Oh, I agree.

00:03:30 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 4:

But I feel like there are sometimes some Mexican restaurants that will pop up and ruin it for the others. And I don't know, and I'm not going to call names out or anything like this.

00:03:40 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 7:

There was a bad one that had a few locations around here, but I think they're all closed now. Do they know what I'm talking about?

00:03:46 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 4:

If your salsa is basically tomato paste, like if your salsa could go on a pasta and kind of, you know, if you heated it up a little bit, it would be okay. It's not salsa, right? It's just not good enough to call itself salsa. And then there are those places that have, like, in the Detroit area, I love jalapenos. That's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. If every Mexican restaurant, you know, kind of, like, played up to jalapenos level, it would be okay. The world would be a better place. And then for you, Megan, you took me to a Mexican restaurant in Toledo that was basically a Mexican, you know, when you know Mexican food is good? When the restaurant is in the back of a grocery store, a Mexican grocery store.

00:04:31 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 6:

It's the day.

00:04:32 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 4:

You know, like the carnival market up here, and then what is it in Toledo?

00:04:35 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 6:

San Marcos. But as soon as you said grocery store, I know everybody in Toledo went, San Marcos. Yeah. San Marcos. Because you literally have to go through a grocery store to get to the restaurant.

00:04:43 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

It's so good. You know who I'm going to see today? Our buddy, Jimmy, who owns that Tamales truck.

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 4:

It's the best.

00:04:49 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 7:

Tres Leche Snacks.

00:04:50 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

He's great. I'm going to see him for Secret of Mayo. He needs his own restaurant, not just the truck. Oh, he does. Milk is filling in for Mike in West Michigan. You got some headphones on? Can you talk?

00:05:00 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 2:

to us real quick milk i want to know what is uh the best mexican food in in uh grand rapids

00:05:06 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 4:

uh i usually go to tacos el cunado and where is that at milk uh they have multiple locations in all over grand rapids okay how are the chips and salsa i've never had those wait a second

00:05:22 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 2:

hold on how do you go to a mexican restaurant and not have chips and salsa

00:05:27 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 4:

I usually just order it via Grubhub and get tacos or taco salad.

00:05:32 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 3:

Oh, okay.

00:05:33 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 2:

Taco salad, like the one that's in the big old crunchy bowl?

00:05:38 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 4:

Well, they actually do it in one big gigantic taco shell.

00:05:43 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 2:

Okay, see, that's the thing. You know what that is, though? No offense to you, Milk. That's like going to a steak restaurant and ordering chicken fingers. You know, you got to go for the authentic authentic. You got to go for the chili rellenos and the chimichangas or the tamales and things like that.

00:06:08 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 1:

Chimichangas have to be American, though.

00:06:11 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 2:

Chimichangas are American. Basically, it's a fried burrito. But milk, that's like going to a Chinese restaurant and not eating an egg roll. How do you go to a Mexican restaurant and not eat chips and salsa? it's just a common thing they don't even give you no it's not when i you know what happens to me when i go to a mexican restaurant i go to a mexican restaurant i eat so much chips and

00:06:36 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 4:

salsa i can't even eat my meal yeah i purposely if i go to a restaurant with chips and salsa i purposely don't eat it so i don't fill it up milk you don't look like the type of guy that does that

00:06:47 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 2:

Come on. You're telling the truth on this one here. Okay, hold on real quick. Is this Raina?

00:06:59 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 5:

Yes, you said my name right.

00:07:01 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 2:

Hi, Raina. Well, happy Cinco de Mayo to you.

00:07:05 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 5:

Thank you. I was just calling to say, also, long-time listener since I was a kid. Oh, thank you. Good friend of you, guys. You guys are my besties. You guys just don't know me.

00:07:16 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 2:

Oh, we love you.

00:07:18 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 5:

Love you, too. I was just going to say, Mega Tacos has really good food in Grand Rapids. They also don't have chips and salsa, but it's okay. You don't need to eat.

00:07:27 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 2:

They don't have chips. So they don't have chips and salsa. No. How do you call yourself a Mexican restaurant without chips and salsa?

00:07:35 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 5:

I promise you, you won't even need it once you start eating.

00:07:38 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 3:

What's going on in GR?

00:07:40 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:07:41 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, what's wrong with chips and salsa? You okay over there?

00:07:45 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 5:

We're okay. I mean, there's places, there's also Poncho Tacos, they have chips and salsa, and they're also really good.

00:07:53 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 2:

Okay. Like, am I going to find out later that chips and salsa is not really Mexican? Like, that's actually something that we Americanized, like, how they say that pizza is really not Italian?

00:08:04 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 5:

You just don't really need, like, if you go to, like, any taco stand in Mexico, they're not going to give you chips and salsa. They're just going to give you your tacos, and you're good.

00:08:12 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was going to say, when I was in Mexico City, when my sister lived in Mexico City, and I would go, there were no chips in Chelsea now.

00:08:17 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 2:

So I have to bring my own chips.

00:08:18 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, but they have a lote and that's... Yes, way better.

00:08:23 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 2:

Well, thank you for the call. What's up, Cheyenne? What's happening?

00:08:28 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 6:

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that Taqueria San Jose in Waterford has the absolute best chips in all of us.

00:08:34 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 2:

Chelsea and I ordered that on DoorDash the other night. Did you like it? Yes, I got the Trace Tacos from them and they were steak tacos.

00:08:44 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 6:

they were absolutely phenomenal the best steak tacos also yeah yes they were very very good it

00:08:49 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

was that was a new find for us because i'm telling you we've ordered from a couple of those doordash places that are in our area and pontiac and waterford and west bloomfield and there's one place that should be closed down they should actually honestly we should have the and it's not the health department because i'm sure they're clean we should honestly have the mexican police come in there and say, I'm sorry, but Taco Bell is more Mexican than this place.

00:09:15 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 3:

Have you tried Aldana's in Troy yet? That's my favorite place in the whole world. And if you're downriver, Manuel's Taco Hut, Manny's, is the best.

00:09:23 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 2:

It's good stuff.

00:09:23 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 3:

Yes.

00:09:24 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 2:

Laura, what's going on? Happy Cinco de Mayo.

00:09:27 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 7:

Hey, happy one to you too. I'm giving a shout out to Snap Taco in Lake Orion. They are giving Sagebrush Cantina a run for their money.

00:09:37 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 1:

KP, that's your neighborhood. Have you been there before? Yeah, it's literally right across from my house.

00:09:41 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 2:

Is it good?

00:09:42 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 1:

I haven't been to Snap. I only go to Sagebrush.

00:09:44 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

Sagebrush is good. That's saying a lot.

00:09:47 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 7:

Oh, it is saying a lot. Their salsa is fantastic. Their chips, they have, I mean, burritos, fajitas, and they just start serving margaritas.

00:09:59 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 6:

You better watch your back. We've got a lot of sagebrush lovers. Oh, yeah.

00:10:03 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's a really good place. Hold on a second. Joshua, or what is the Spanish version of Joshua when you took Spanish class? What did they say it was?

00:10:14 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 7:

Well, there's a couple of them, actually. But you don't remember. Yeah, I really don't remember because I wasn't the best student. Cinco de Mayo and Alexis, I'm giving a shout out. They have fresh salsa made every day. in Toledo. And if you go to San Marcos downtown that you guys are talking about, it's good. But don't go to the other ones that are in Toledo.

00:10:36 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 6:

Wrong. Wrong. Absolutely wrong. You could not be more wrong.

00:10:39 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 7:

Oh, and I go to Mexico all the time, and I'm telling you, nope, do not do it. The one that hurt me is...

00:10:47 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 6:

Get him off the phone. Wrong. I will not tolerate any San Marcos slanders on this radio station. Does this not...

00:10:55 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 7:

They whited it down. I'm sorry.

00:10:58 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 4:

They whited it down. I like that.

00:11:00 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 6:

They did it. But the one on Reynolds switched over to a different type of Mexican restaurant, and it breaks my heart, because that's the one that I always went to.

00:11:08 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 4:

Hold on a second here. Hold on. We're going to get Joshua's name here in Spanish here.

00:11:13 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 6:

Names.com.

00:11:14 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 4:

All right. All right. Here we go. Hold on.

00:11:15 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 6:

00:11:17 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 4:

Here we go. Here we go. They just did it. Joshua. It's the same. It's the same name.

00:11:25 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 8:

Joshua.

00:11:26 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 4:

00:11:48 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 8:

00:11:50 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 4:

I love it. How do you say Joshua in Spanish?

00:11:55 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 8:

You could say either Josue. Okay.

00:11:59 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 4:

Okay, or?

00:12:00 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, just Josue. Or J.

00:12:04 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 4:

So Jose or Joshua?

00:12:08 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 8:

Josue.

00:12:09 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 4:

Like the guys? Josue. Okay, Josue. All right. What's going on?

00:12:13 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 8:
