I'm Mange Shachigular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:49 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:00:54 - 00:01:00 | Speaker 4:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Mojo in the Morning Show. Kev was invited to stand up in a wedding, but it's not just any wedding. What kind of wedding is it?

00:01:44 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 6:

So this is a Nigerian, I believe it's Igbu wedding, and a Christian wedding. And I've never been to a wedding before that spanned over the course of a couple of days. This is a two-day wedding. Well, on the Friday, they're going to celebrate the Nigeria Igbo portion. And then on Saturday, they're going to do the Christian portion. So that means two different suits, two different events. The girl got to have two different dresses, two different receptions. I don't know if I'm prepared for a two-day wedding event, bro. Same date or two different dates? Same date. I was invited, so same date. Okay. But I don't know if I'm trying to do all of that.

00:02:17 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 7:

Wait, isn't it Igbo? What is it? Igbo, yeah, I believe that's, yeah. Okay, so it's an Igbo. That's Nigerian. And it's two different days. And that doesn't include also the bachelor party, the showers. They do that in it. I don't know. I ain't even had to participate in it.

00:02:34 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 6:

I'm being invited. He's a guest. Yeah, I'm a guest. Which makes it even more of a difficult decision because I really don't have any allegiance

00:02:41 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 7:

to these people. Oh, I thought I interrupted it by saying that you were standing up. I thought you were going to be in it, but no, you're just invited to it. Okay, well, that, on the other hand, that's interesting. That's just two days of parties. I always hate getting invited to destination weddings, and the destination weddings end up being multiple days.

00:02:57 - 00:03:03 | Speaker 6:

I'm good for it. That's a vacation. That's more than a wedding. That's a vacation. This one is in town here, though. It's a couple hours up north.

00:03:03 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 7:

So it's funny. Chelsea and I were invited to a bat mitzvah for the Lashes, for Ryan Lashes' daughter. Shout out to the Lashes. Madison. And there were four parties or something. How many parties were there?

00:03:15 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. It was a couple days of parties.

00:03:17 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 7:

It was in Vegas. It was in Vegas, and I said to Chelsea, I go, I don't have this many outfits.

00:03:22 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 5:

It was also amazing.

00:03:24 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 6:

But I'm going to Las Vegas, though. If I'm going somewhere, then that's a vacation.

00:03:32 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 7:

So question to Eric, we have a lot of listeners I know all over the place, but a lot of our Indian listeners, isn't it more days than two days?

00:03:40 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 5:

Yes, Indian weddings. More days? Yes, are typically more days. And as a woman, I would love to be invited to an Indian wedding one day. I would. You don't have to go with me. Why? Because you get to dress up in a beautiful sari and you can do different costume. Or not costume. It's not a costume. But they're dress. And then you can.

00:04:02 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 7:

You complain about having to find one dress to wear. And you order like 20 of them to get one dress to wear.

00:04:08 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 5:

I know. That's true.

00:04:09 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 7:

And then you end up wearing something that you already wore sometime before that you like better. Whatever.

00:04:13 - 00:04:22 | Speaker 6:

A girl can dream. Five days? What are you doing for five days? It's like programming different experiences throughout or traditions.

00:04:22 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 5:

I've never been to one. I just, I've heard about it, and I'd love to go to one.

00:04:28 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 7:

Hey, Kelly. By the way, our number is 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. If you've ever been invited to a multiple-day wedding, you'll have to call us up and talk to us about that. Is it a pain in the butt to be standing up in a multiple day? that's got to cost a lot of money for you. What's up, Kelly?

00:04:46 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 4:

Good morning. How are you guys doing?

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 7:

We're great. What's going on?

00:04:50 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 4:

I just wanted to call and tell Jeff you should absolutely go because Nigerians know how to party. And it's pronounced Ebo. Ebo.

00:04:58 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 6:

Okay.

00:04:58 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, Ebo. Not Ego.

00:05:00 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 7:

Igbo, or whatever he was saying. It's I-G-B-O, so I just say Igbo, but Igbo.

00:05:04 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 4:

No, it looks like that, but it's silent. But you might have to borrow some, you might have some Nigerian friends if you're invited to this wedding. So talk to them, get the right attire for two days, but it's worth going. Okay.

00:05:19 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 6:

They're that big of fun, huh? They're that much fun?

00:05:23 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, and there'll be a lot of dancing, so he should get ready.

00:05:26 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 6:

See, you have to understand, to me, Kelly, as much fun as it's going to be, it's a pain in the ass. And this is no offense to anybody that's invited me to their weddings, but the Chaldean weddings, they don't have multiple days. They just have long days. Like, they have a wedding that will start at 6 o'clock or 7 o'clock at night, and then it goes to, like, 4 in the morning, for God's sakes, and you don't eat dinner until midnight. Lydia, what's the longest wedding you've been to?

00:05:54 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 1:

It started at, well, we started getting ready and prepping for it at 7 a.m. And I didn't leave until 2 a.m. Oh, my God.

00:06:01 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 6:

That's a marathon. What time did you guys eat?

00:06:04 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 1:

Probably about 10.30.

00:06:05 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 6:

It's amazing how that happens.

00:06:08 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 7:

I'm sneaking food in. There's going to be some gummy bears in my suit or something.

00:06:12 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 6:

I actually think that that would be an appropriate time to door dash to a wedding. Texter here says, can't talk on the radio, but Chelsea, you'd be invited to our wedding. we're getting married and we're having a traditional indian wedding okay dream come true send me an invitation send her a one without a plus one and i ain't going to that one uh 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 is our telephone number what time of year is this like what time of year do you uh have this invite for let me look at that let me see because it's that depends too like you know winter versus summertime well it's got to be nice weather that's what he said okay so

00:06:50 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 7:

So I'm like almost literally a month away.

00:06:52 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 5:

Did you respond yet?

00:06:54 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 6:

I mean, she asked me yesterday. So I was like, I don't know. Oh, you're going to be the date of somebody? Yes. Oh, I thought it was a friend of yours. She didn't even know the people.

00:07:02 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 7:

No, yeah, exactly.

00:07:03 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 6:

That's what I'm saying. Why do you want to do that?

00:07:05 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 7:

That's why I said I don't have any allegiance.

00:07:08 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 5:

This could be fun. You have to do it.

00:07:10 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 6:

No.

00:07:11 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 7:

That's why I'm saying I don't know these people. I'm invited as a date. It's two days. It seems like a lot.

00:07:17 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 5:

But you said it's up north. Yeah, it's a few hours up. So that's kind of a vacation.

00:07:21 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 6:

Plus, is this girl somebody that you want to commit to that much time? I mean, she's super cool. You can't even commit like a week to somebody just to hang out with them here in town. How do you know that? Because you bounced in and out of a couple of different places.

00:07:35 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 7:

Look, you took three weeks of my life and just made it my whole life.

00:07:40 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 6:

Ali, what's up?

00:07:42 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 3:

What's up, Mojo? I just want to give a quick shout out to you, man. I've been listening to you for like 10 years. Oh, buddy.

00:07:46 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 6:

Thank you, man. I appreciate it. That's so nice of you. What's going on? What's going on?

00:07:50 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 3:

No problem. I'm Muslim, and we have multiple-day weddings where, like, the first day is, like, for a guy to get with his close friends and families. Okay. And they sit around, and, you know, they get together. Then the next day, that's usually from, like, 6 p.m. to, like, 3 o'clock in the morning. Oh, my God. And then, yeah, the next day is the actual wedding itself, and they're divided. So it's men on one side of the hall, and then another part of the hall is all the women.

00:08:18 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 6:

That sounds like my middle school dances. Hey, question for you. The first day where it's just guys, isn't that just a bachelor party?

00:08:27 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 3:

Pretty much, yeah. You know, everyone gets their little buzz going on, you know. Do we do a little hookah there?

00:08:34 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 6:

Do we have a little fun?

00:08:35 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, oh, for sure, man. It's like a cloud of smoke as soon as you open the door. Wait, wait, quick question.

00:08:41 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 6:

Are there any, like, ladies there? I know you said it's all good.

00:08:45 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 3:

No, man, that's what I told you. It's divided, man, both the vegetable party and the actual wedding itself.

00:08:50 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 6:

Like, not even entertainment? Like, they're not even fun?

00:08:53 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 3:

No. Sometimes they have belly dancers, yeah. Okay. Like, if you're like one of those balling families, they'll have belly dancers show up.

00:09:01 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 6:

See, now, Kev, that sounds like more fun. Like, that sounds like it would be, you know, less of a commitment than going two days with a girl up north.

00:09:09 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 7:

Well, I mean, you know, the two days could be two fun days.

00:09:13 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 6:

Oh, listen to Kev. What do you think the odds are, Ali, that Kev's going to have even any fun?

00:09:18 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 3:

Say hi or do you? You know. No, there's no bar. There's no bar. So there's no open bar. There's no alcohol.

00:09:25 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 6:

I, by the way, cannot go to a wedding that doesn't have alcohol. And I'm not a big drinker.

00:09:30 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 3:

That's why I avoid them. I'm not a big drinker.

00:09:32 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 6:

No offense to anybody that has had one of these before. But I got to have at least something inside of me.

00:09:39 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 5:

Like a flask.

00:09:40 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 6:

Can you do that, though? But what if they have no alcohol because it's a religious thing?

00:09:44 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 2:

I've done that. I mean, you know, you got some people that, hey, man, every sinner was a saint. Every saint was a sinner, right? There you go. Exactly.

00:09:51 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 6:

Ali, thanks, buddy. Appreciate your 10 years of faithfulness. Appreciate you, buddy.

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:
