We've all seen the headlines. Florida man wrestles alligator in a tuxedo or Florida man sues after finding toenails in his ice cream.

00:01:09 - 00:01:13 | Speaker 5:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

00:01:14 - 00:01:15 | Speaker 3:

Hey, I'm Frankie P.

00:01:15 - 00:01:20 | Speaker 5:

And I'm Amelia. On our podcast, Hidden Florida and Beyond, we're going beneath the surface of the sunshine state.

00:01:20 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 9:

From interviews with real people who make Florida weird. I'm pulling it up, and as I'm pulling it up, I see an arm. Stop it. Come down.

00:01:28 - 00:01:36 | Speaker 5:

to deep dives into the stories you didn't know you were looking for. Hey, give it up for Mark Wahlberg on the podcast today. It's more than just a meme, it's a lifestyle.

Hidden Florida and Beyond with Mark Wahlberg, May 21st.

00:01:47 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 4:

I'm Mungesha Tikalur and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:02:06 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:02:12 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 4:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:02:18 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 10:

This now sounds like it would be one hell of a party. what is the largest door dash order that you have ever done shannon might have witnessed the largest in metro detroit well and it is it involves you you're you you and the kids it

00:02:34 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 8:

wasn't even a party it was a it was a play date so lucy's in fourth grade and she got invited to a friend's house yesterday um and so she went to this friend's house on the bus after school which was always like the best thing ever yeah you had that note that you got to get off on a different bus stop anyway um so she goes to her friend's house and her her girlfriend had a few little girls over and she has two brothers and he had some friends over as well props to this mom who i know very well she is the best mom in the whole entire world because she had a lot of kids at her house yesterday so i went with smith to go pick up lucy from this play date and when i got there the mom was like oh my gosh can you guys hang around for a little bit i just got door dash and the kids you know can lucy stay and eat for a second and i was like yeah okay that's fine so smith and i went inside took off our coats and you know we were hanging out in her kitchen the door dash order arrives it's from mcdonald's okay hell yeah the order was 300 chicken mcnuggets and 20 orders of fries. Jesus Christ.

00:03:50 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 10:

Ba-da-ba-ba-ba.

00:03:52 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 8:

You guys, I have never seen 300 chicken nuggets. And what she did, what the mom did was she took them all, and I was helping her do this, she took them all out of, like, the boxes and the bags and put them in one large, like, the family puke bowl.

00:04:07 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Do you know what I mean?

00:04:08 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 8:

Like, one of those big party bowls, and you just kept dumping chicken nuggets in there for all of the kids to come and grab. And I was like, oh, my God. Like, I didn't even know that you could DoorDash that.

00:04:17 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 10:

That McDonald's eats you. It was like a bowl of chips. Yeah. But it was chicken.

00:04:23 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 8:

I actually took a picture of it, I think. And also, I've done this, but I had consumed something before the order. And I tried to... Obviously, these were fourth graders. They did not. Well, that was a big DoorDash order.

00:04:37 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 10:

That we know of. Half of you are high right now. I'm like, Megan, I've done that before, too. It isn't weird to say this, but I don't like eating McDonald's unless I get it out of my own wrapper.

00:04:52 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 1:

No, that is wild.

00:04:55 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 10:

I one time went to a Purdy and they...

00:05:00 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 2:

had mcdonald's as a joke it was like hey we're gonna have a party everybody come on over we're gonna you know everybody we show up there and they did this similar where they went to mcdonald's they bought a bunch of food and it was just laid out on plates and everybody can go up there and grab a big mac or quarter pounder or whatever it might be and honestly i was kind of taken back by it i wanted i like with nuggets or as you called them nuggies weren't you weren't you the nuggy lady or i love calling them nuggies um i would think that the kids would be like wanting them in their little four-pack or whatever it is.

00:05:31 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 5:

They didn't get a choice.

00:05:32 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 2:

No, I don't.

00:05:32 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 5:

I feel like the mom's done this before because as soon as she got the order, she's talking to me like it was no big deal. She just kept dumping them into the bowl.

00:05:38 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 2:

And I was like...

00:05:39 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 3:

And she knew exactly what bowl was going to fit 300 nuggets. 300 nuggets. I was going to ask if they all came in, but I bet they just came in separate boxes. I thought there was like one big box for 300 nuggets.

00:05:48 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 2:

If you work at a McDonald's and a DoorDash order comes for 300 nuggets, do you go, oh, right?

00:05:56 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 1:

last time i did this they wouldn't even start my order until we paid because they thought i was going to drive off because the last time i ordered about 150 nuggets they were like nope you can come through and you can pay for everything yeah and then and then we'll start

00:06:12 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 2:

come up to the window and not only are we gonna make you pay we're also gonna take your temperature and have you talk to ronald's psychiatrist you have to do the math

00:06:22 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 3:

when you order that many nuggets like is it a six piece divided by 300 and you got to do that or

00:06:26 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 1:

do you say i need 300 nuggets no they sell them in 40 packs yeah and then around the super bowl

00:06:32 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 2:

i think they even do how many 40 packs is 300 nuggets go i i um by the way i'll at the end of the show at 10 30 i'll give you the answer because that's about where i'll get it um how so how many orders of fries do you have to get with that 20 so 20

00:06:53 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 5:

she dumped those into another big bowl

00:06:55 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 2:

wow

00:06:56 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 5:

wait did she

00:06:59 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 2:

get ketchup packages or did she use her own ketchup because McDonald's ketchup is better than ketchup

00:07:03 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 5:

no there were ketchup packages but I thought to myself god I need to step up

00:07:07 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 2:

my play date game because I'm not doing that you know what's funny all I keep thinking of right now is was McDonald's a little stingy when it came to giving you the sauces that you need they're like oh 300 nuggets here you go Here's three sweet and sours. What? What? Make it work. Remember how they did that at one point? Remember? They may not be as bad as they used to be.

00:07:30 - 00:07:32 | Speaker 5:

Rationing the sauces. Remember that?

00:07:32 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 2:

They would not. Like, you'd go to McDonald's and you'd get, like, I'd like a kid's meal. And can I get, like, five extra sauces? And they're like, no.

00:07:38 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:07:38 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 2:

We can't do that anymore. It doesn't happen.

00:07:40 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 5:

Well, they actually didn't give any sweet and sours. And the only reason I know that is because that's Smith's favorite. And he was like, Mom, they only have barbecue sauce and ketchup. I'm like, Smith, shut up. We're not even supposed to be eating here. No, he's right.

00:07:50 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 2:

By the way, that's a brave mom to have barbecue sauce and ketchup running around her house with kids. Alex, how are you doing?

00:07:59 - 00:08:00 | Unknown:

Good morning.

00:08:00 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 2:

What's going on? Did that sound like a dream come true, 300 nuggets?

00:08:04 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 4:

I've ordered 100 before, and I told the counter to take their time. That way they can get everybody else out as they cook time.

00:08:12 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 2:

Really? What were you ordering 100 for? Was it another one of those hanging out?

00:08:17 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 4:

pretty much was it me and like four or five other friends

00:08:26 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 2:

four or five other friends with a hundred nuggets were you able to finish them all man that's a lot of nuggets

00:08:34 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 5:

you threw away nuggets

00:08:36 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 2:

yes you don't have to throw them away you could keep them for a year out of the refrigerator and they still taste the same quick question When you do 100 nuggets, what's the reaction of them when you're ordering that? Are they shocked?

00:08:52 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 4:

They're a little shocked. They're telling me, are you kidding?

00:08:55 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 2:

Wow. And do you make sure that every, like, is every nugget of the 100 nuggets, do they taste good? Or does, like, a couple of the nuggets not get cooked properly?

00:09:06 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 4:

Towards the end, they start getting colder and colder and colder. Oh.

00:09:09 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 2:

Okay. All right.

00:09:11 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 5:

There are good nuggies and bad nuggies. Everybody knows this. Some of the nuggies are a little slimy sometimes.

00:09:16 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 1:

Never order during peak ordering time.

00:09:18 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 2:

Alex, how old are you?

00:09:20 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 1:

I'll be 28.

00:09:22 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 2:

Call them Nuggies. Until you're at least like 50 years old. And then at that point, you can't call them Nuggies anymore.

00:09:29 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

I like Dino Nuggets better.

00:09:31 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I love a good Dino Nuggie. I got a whole pack of them in my fridge right now. But can we talk about something? Let's talk about shrinkflation when it came to Dino Nuggies. Because those got super expensive and the bags got smaller. Yeah, they're like $17 a bag.

00:09:45 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, wow. I'm very passionate about my dino nuggies. I will say this, dino nuggies, and then I used to love, well, I love waffle fries, so don't get me, and tater tots. You put tater tots on a mat.

00:10:00 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 7:

menu all over tater tots sonic tater tots are the best but my favorite was smiley fries from buffalo wild wings they used to have smiley fries and they were it was like a cushiony like potato

00:10:10 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 8:

it was delicious only bad fry i don't know how you did it but you picked the only bad why would you say that that hurts my feelings they're only barely crispy on the outside and the middle is sometimes lukewarm and then they're like grainy no i like it um the largest order that i had ever

00:10:29 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 7:

done in my life was a taco bell order for a night like megan and kevin have talked about you know partying a little too much um and the largest order that i had was 225 of taco bell which taco bell that's hard and this was by the way this is not like inflationary times this was like non-inflationary times and um it was i ordered so many tacos and so many bean burritos i by the way i lived off of bean burritos when i first got into radio and i wasn't making any money at all bean burritos were the savior for me i would just grab like a bean burrito and that would be my

00:11:03 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 9:

lunch every day so good see my thing it wasn't nuggets a group of friends and i we used to get together every sunday and we call it session sundays where we would have a little green night and everybody would pitch in yeah and we were starving this particular night and we decided to go to white castle and we literally had like a hundred burgers and we didn't have like a throw up bowl so what we did was dump them all in the middle of the floor and literally say on your mark Like you said, go. No. Everybody just grab and eat as many as you can.

00:11:31 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 7:

Did you do the same thing with the bathroom?

00:11:36 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 9:

That was a night.

00:11:37 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 7:

By the way, if you're going to order, you cannot order that many sliders because you ordered that many sliders. The smell of those.

00:11:45 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 9:

It was $0.49. You couldn't beat it. Why is it?

00:11:48 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 7:

Why is it? I'm telling you. I used to, I couldn't believe how many I used to eat back in the day.

00:11:53 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 9:

Punish them.

00:11:54 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 8:

Can I tell you something I'm not proud of, but also kind of proud of?

00:11:57 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 7:

Yes.

00:11:57 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 8:

One time I was very messed up, and I was eating my 100 chicken nuggets in my bed, and I fell asleep, and I woke up the next morning, and I had rolled over on a chicken nugget that was still warm from my body temperature, and I definitely ate it. Yes!

00:12:11 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 9:

Now that's breakfast. Breakfast in bed. I was like, mmm, look warm.

00:12:19 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 5:
