This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:22 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 2:

My name is Natarika Terry LaMille and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school. But Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection. That I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and

00:02:04 - 00:02:15 | Speaker 1:

show them that they're here to help us. Ready to make your own Bishop statement? Visit bishop.edu today and start building your tomorrow at Bishop State Community College. It's Mojo in the Morning

show phone numbers 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 megan has cried two times already on the show

00:02:23 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 3:

we're gonna make it the trifecta no no no no no and i really think the other one was just back-to-back bad time that was just emotional can't do something serious after a b&e break it's just no yeah that was Frankie Angel um i did cry the other day though and it was very very bad And I'd like to set this up by acknowledging, before I even tell you this whole story, I understand I should not have cried. That's actually the whole point of this story is the very small, minuscule thing that just set you over the edge. But I had a really long day a couple of days ago, and I was just, you know, doing things later than I expected. You ever have an expectation of your time, like, at least I'll be home by like 5 o'clock, even if it's a long day, and I can still get some dinner. and it was looking like I wasn't going to get home until 8 30 ish. And then I hit some really severe downtown Detroit traffic and a drive that would normally take me about four to five minutes took roughly an hour. And I was just stuck and really at the end of my rope. And I was sitting at a light and there are cops everywhere directing traffic because this congestion is so bad. and I'm sitting in the middle of an intersection and there's nowhere for me to go. There are people everywhere. There are cars everywhere. I cannot move forward. And this cop walks up to my window, which I'm like starting to roll down. And he was like, move your GD vehicle. And I literally, oh, dead serious, dead serious. And I'm looking around and I'm like,

00:03:59 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 7:

I think he's talking to me.

00:04:03 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 3:

At this point, I cannot move my vehicle. And I would really like to be able to move my vehicle. Like, there's nothing I want more in this moment than to be able to move, sir.

00:04:14 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 7:

What did he do?

00:04:16 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 3:

He just walked away and started yelling at other people. Oh, he didn't even stop and like console you. No, he did not care. He looked at me like, that's a weird reaction to that. And I was just.

00:04:26 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 7:

It's one of those traffic cops, huh? Like the guys that are in the middle of traffic.

00:04:29 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 3:

Yes, just sitting in my car crying. people are walking by my car looking at me like is she okay i don't really care we still gotta go we gotta place it to be nobody's having thankfully nobody is stopping but i can't move my car and i realize this cop just told me to move because there's a big traffic jam and it just i couldn't

00:04:46 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

stop sobbing in my car this actually could be a very funny i mean this could be a funny topic not a sad topic so we're not gonna make megan cry no no no i want it to be funny here's here's the topic what is the most like out of the the

00:05:00 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 2:

normal thing that made you cry what was it that made you cry like you're having one of those days and then finally something just set it off and for megan's case it was the cop just yelling at her to move and uh and she just had her had her point at that what was yours 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 lydia can you go through phone lines and get some really funny ones for us i can try

00:05:23 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 4:

you can't do it to me lydia you okay before jingle ball i am stressed can you but what boy what what would make you cry

00:05:34 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 2:

lydia everything makes me cry you know that i know but what would make what would like today like if if tony travato said to you hey lydia let's do three more wishes today no i'll throw up that'll make me throw up it's very stressful to put together these wishes um i had one the other

00:05:52 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 5:

day you know those days that you just like like this is my to to-do list for today we all do this in the studio we write these dang to-do lists and after the show we're so tired and the only thing i want to do is take a nap but i usually have a bunch of crap that i need to get done before the kids get home from school and it was so stupid but the last thing on my list was to go to whole foods because my kids all four of them only like whole foods frozen pizza oh i go to whole foods And I stock up. I usually get like four, five, six of them. I go and there's only one kind they like, the four cheese. They have zero. I literally could feel the frog in my throat for me. And I go to the checkout with my other crap. I'm like, I am literally about to cry over a $5.99 frozen pizza. But that was my day.

00:06:37 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 2:

If you just got another pizza, they would not recognize it?

00:06:42 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 5:

It is not the same. It is this one specific. It's the yellow cardboard box, the just cheese, and that just did me in.

00:06:50 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 2:

What is the craziest thing that made you cry the most emotional time of your life? And if you missed any of Megan crying earlier this morning, it's going to be in promos. You'll see it. You'll hear it on the air. She has a heart. The woman has a, maybe it's the holidays that's setting you up. Maybe that's what it is.

00:07:07 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 5:

Maybe I just, um, it's making you feel emotional. People knowing that I have feelings.

00:07:14 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 2:

I think it's wonderful. Hate it. We love your feelings. Bojo in the morning. Hi, Cindy. Hi. Hey, Cindy. What was the craziest thing that made you cry?

00:07:24 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 4:

I don't know if it was crazy. On one of the Sat Tuesdays, it's like six years ago, but I was like six months pregnant and we were going to my friend's house to enjoy our poochki for the day. And I was debating of what flavor I was going to have. I told my husband, well, maybe I'll have custard or whatever. And I said, well, maybe I'll have two, one for me and one for the baby. And then that turned into a whole discussion that that was, like, too much for the baby. And I pulled myself together. We got to our friend's house. And the husband goes, okay, well, what flavor do you want? And I just broke down in a full-on meltdown in tears. And this poor guy had no idea the whole discussion had been passed by.

00:08:08 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 2:

By the way, you don't ever, ever let a pregnant woman go without whatever she wants to eat, even if it's two poonskis, because she is feeding that baby. And the worst is, Cindy, if you go to the bakery to go get them, and the bakery goes, we're all out of poonskis.

00:08:25 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 4:

Niagara Falls. Oh, my God. That would have been even worse, probably. Oh, my God. And, by the way, first time, long time. Poonski on the phone.

00:08:35 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 2:

We love you. Thanks, Cindy.

00:08:37 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 4:

I love you listening to you every morning. I'm usually a podcast listener, so I love catching you live.

00:08:42 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that's awesome. And then you get to participate like you just did, which is pretty cool. And tell your friends. Giuseppe. Okay. Hello. Giuseppe.

00:08:52 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 3:

Hello. I want to start by saying first time, long time as well.

00:08:56 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 1:

Giuseppe. Hello. Giuseppe.

00:09:01 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 2:

Giuseppe, what made you cry? What's the craziest thing? Go ahead.

00:09:06 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 3:

So I had a long day at work. It was I was usually I start at nine and at eight p.m. And, you know, they made me stay longer and I had to drop off a customer at their house. And when I dropped them off, they just gave me, you know, two little like snacks. And it just I don't know. Once they left, that was it was just tears.

00:09:28 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 2:

Wait. So you dropped off a customer and they were, hey, we're going to feed this guy. And that nice gesture got you all balled up.

00:09:39 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, it was like, it was like happy tears. But like at the same time, I was like, I didn't want to stay long to drop this guy off.

00:09:46 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 2:

Oh, you didn't want to stay. So you were crying because you were upset. The guy was trying to give you something nice, a nice gesture. But you were like, oh, buddy, I got to get to my next call.

00:09:59 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Giuseppe.

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 2:

What service do you have? I don't even know. I don't want to say because they're probably an advertiser. Shauna, are you there?

00:10:07 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 5:

Hi, I'm here.

00:10:08 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 2:

Shauna, question for you. Is it alcohol related?

00:10:13 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 5:

It is alcohol related. I love it.

00:10:16 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 2:

This is going to be good. Alcohol makes me cry.

00:10:20 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 5:

Oh, well, I wish I was drinking at the time, but I wasn't drinking. What was it? I had, yesterday was my mom's birthday. I had just got off work. I put together a gift of all of her favorite things, including a big bottle of rum, a half-gallon bottle. And as I was walking to her house from my car, all of a sudden the bag dropped. The booze went everywhere, all over, like, the raisin that I got her and everything. And it was either the cake was going to fall or the bag. And, yeah, the bag fell.

00:10:56 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 2:

So you lost. What was it that you lost? What was in the bag?

00:10:59 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 5:

It was a bottle of Bacardi in there, some Raisin Dats. Some Raisin Dats. No.

00:11:04 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 2:

Not the Raisin Dats. Raisin Dats used to go so hard. Oh, my God. I love Raisin Dats.

00:11:08 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 5:

The lotion was all good.

00:11:09 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 2:

Lotion.

00:11:09 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 5:

And all of that was all good. But, like, yeah.

00:11:12 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 2:

You know what I would have done? I would have given up the cake for the Bacardi.

00:11:15 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:11:16 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 2:

You know? Everybody can eat it. They can whip off the whipped cream off the side of the little plastic container that the cake was in. You would have been fine.

00:11:26 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 5:

I was a mess. And this was yesterday. Do me a favor.

00:11:29 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 2:

Go see my buddy Louie at the Brass Mug in Livonia, and he'll get you a bottle of Bacardi on Mojo. I'll put it on my bill, okay?

00:11:36 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 5:

All right.

00:11:37 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 2:

Thanks, Mojo. We love you. Love you. Take care of yourself. What's up, Tracy? How are you? You know what, Tracy? I'm doing good, but I got to be honest with you. The pausing that listeners have been giving me on the phone lines today are going to make me cry.

00:11:52 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 3:

That's annoying.

00:11:53 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 2:

There's a lot of people that when we're like, hey, how you doing? And they're like, five seconds, three, four, two, one. Oh, good. How are you doing? I don't know if it's already.

00:12:00 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 3:

Well, I just really have to think about their answer.

00:12:02 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 2:

That could be. You know what? It's Monday. What's going on? What makes you cry?

00:12:07 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 3:

A few years ago, I left an appointment that was pretty emotional. And so I was driving to visit some family or friends. And I was like, all I want is to go to this fast food place. I don't know if I'm allowed to say it. Sure. So what to talk about. All I wanted was a breakfast contract. Like, that's it. And a Mountain Dew. Like, I just want this to make me happy. And they were no longer serving breakfast. No. Okay, that is the worst. I feel that one. I started bawling, and I had to, like, pull out of the line because I couldn't even think of what else I could possibly order because that was all I wanted. Oh, I can't believe they would do that to you.

00:12:47 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 1:

All these places, it should be the same. All day, you should be able to get breakfast. Correct. It's all the same stuff anyway. I have tears.

00:12:55 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 3:

You can't make one? Come on.

00:12:56 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 2:

By the way, Taco Bell doesn't run out of anything Because you know why? Taco Bell has the same ingredients In all their stuff Breakfast lunch or dinner, right?

00:13:07 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 4:

Yes, please applaud me on that one

00:13:08 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 1:

Everything on the menu Yeah, come on I want that tone to play every time I talk Do you know we drove past a Taco Bell the other day And my kids go, what is that place? I'm like, I am the worst mother ever I've never taken my children to Taco Bell.

00:13:27 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 2:

You take your daughter for a seedy massage, but you don't take her to Taco Bell.

00:13:31 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 1:

It's not seedy. It was just a little different.

00:13:33 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 2:

You need to take her to Taco Bell. She'll love it.

00:13:36 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 1:

I know.

00:13:36 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 2:

Make her taste buds enjoy that. They'll get off of Whole Foods pizza. I'm telling you. It's healthier for her. There's a lot of protein in Taco Bell.

00:13:44 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 5:

Take my candina menu.

00:13:46 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 2:

What's going on, Jamie? Hi.

00:13:48 - 00:13:49 | Speaker 4:

Hi. Morning.

00:13:49 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 2:

What's happening?

00:13:50 - 00:14:07 | Speaker 4:

Well, I think I could top the last caller, but when I was pregnant, I was looking in the refrigerator for a spatula and stayed on the kitchen floor for 20 minutes after I think that the spatula was in my left hand. Oh, no. I would lose it.

00:14:09 - 00:14:19 | Speaker 2:

I've done that before with my phone. I was holding my phone, literally talking on the phone, and I lost my phone. I can't wait. And the person that's on the phone goes, hey, I think you're calling me on the phone.

00:14:20 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 4:

That's my daily life, okay?

00:14:22 - 00:14:22 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:14:22 - 00:14:27 | Speaker 4:

Or they'll be like, let me call your phone to help you find it. And I'm like, okay, call it.

00:14:29 - 00:14:36 | Speaker 2:

Rhonda, what's going on? Rhonda, we're talking about how Megan had a day from hell and the simplest thing made her cry. What makes you cry?

00:14:38 - 00:14:40 | Speaker 3:

It's Wanda, but it's okay mostly.

00:14:40 - 00:14:45 | Speaker 4:

Oh, no, you're going to get me. It's okay.

00:14:47 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 2:

No. I got two and a half hours sleep last night. Wanda, I apologize.

00:15:00 - 00:15:03 | Speaker 3:

She could care less.

00:15:03 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 9:

I'm crying. Go ahead. Yes.

00:15:06 - 00:15:25 | Speaker 3:

So today, I get annoyed. My dog pees on my Christmas tree. That son of a bitch. Every year. It's just the one little branch. And now I have like two dogs. So when one dog goes to pee, he'll go behind him and do the same thing. And I clean up. I hate it. I'm constantly cleaning up. I'm so tired.

00:15:25 - 00:15:49 | Speaker 9:

Chelsea yells at me because I yell at the dogs like they're my children. And she's like, they don't understand what you're saying, but they look right at me as they're peeing right on the kitchen table or they pee up my kid or my kids, my kids pee on the kitchen table. My, my dogs, they, the, the, the, whatever the heck, the leg of the kitchen table, they like to pee.

00:15:49 - 00:15:51 | Speaker 2:

I thought you meant they got up on the kitchen table and peed.

00:15:51 - 00:16:03 | Speaker 9:

No, if they did that, if they did that, I would beat their ass. I would be like, get off there. But yeah, Wanda, I get what you're saying. And thank you for calling in and letting us get it off your chest. Hopefully it worked, right?

00:16:04 - 00:16:08 | Speaker 10:

A little bit, yeah. Mojo, do you have the one about the horse?

00:16:08 - 00:16:10 | Speaker 9:

No, nobody on the phone lines.

00:16:10 - 00:16:18 | Speaker 10:

Okay, I got to tell you, my favorite text we got was, I'm pregnant, and I cried the other day because I saw a horse alone in a field, and it was raining, and I thought it was lonely.

00:16:21 - 00:16:26 | Speaker 9:

That's hysterical. That person has to be in, like, Metamora or something. I feel like that's where all the horse people are.

00:16:27 - 00:16:30 | Speaker 10:

Metamora. It was in 419, so somewhere in the Toledo area.

00:16:30 - 00:16:37 | Speaker 9:

Okay. Well, that's beautiful. Hold on. This is a good one. Shelby, are you there?

00:16:38 - 00:16:42 | Speaker 11:

Hi, I am. First time long time. Hey, Shelby on the phone.

00:16:44 - 00:16:46 | Speaker 9:

Last one on this one. What made you cry?

00:16:47 - 00:17:09 | Speaker 11:

Okay. So, I'm very uncoordinated, but despite that, I really wanted to try going to a Zumba class. So, I tried to have a good attitude. I showed up, and I accidentally kicked someone in the leg, but she had a prosthetic leg. Oh, my God. Oh, God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I literally was so embarrassed, and I haven't done Zumba again.

00:17:11 - 00:17:16 | Speaker 9:

By the way, did the prosthetic come off, or did it feel like you hit a piece of wood or something?

00:17:17 - 00:17:20 | Speaker 11:

It felt really hard, and she ended up telling me after the class.

00:17:20 - 00:17:21 | Speaker 9:

Oh, no.

00:17:21 - 00:17:22 | Speaker 11:

I mean, the good news is it didn't hurt her, right?

00:17:22 - 00:17:23 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, that's right.

00:17:23 - 00:17:25 | Speaker 11:

Oh, my God. You know what? That is so true.

00:17:25 - 00:17:29 | Speaker 9:

Yeah. See, there's a bright spot to everything. Thank you for the call, Shelby.

00:17:30 - 00:17:56 | Speaker 7:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. You go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college As a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.
