There's something I've been seeing on social media that I need to ask the question of our listeners. Can you give me more information? Because I sometimes feel like you guys have more information than I have. So a lot of the people who I follow are east siders of our listening area in Detroit on Channel 955. A lot of my friends live up in Shelby Township, clinton township sterling heights and there was a post that somebody put and i think i actually got the guy i think i might even follow this guy um blake newman posted this it was a picture that he saw he was driving m53 in hall road and there was a uh one you know there's obviously really tough times you know everybody's you know struggling just to pay their you know bills and and keep the lights on but he drove by at a time when there was a family out and they were uh asking for help asking for money and there's a guy that is standing right in front of them with a sign on that says fake with an arrow pointing towards them what and i wanted to ask if there's anybody that knows more information to this whole thing because I want to know how he knows it's fake or if he's just a guy that's out there just trying to cause a mess.

Trying to go viral or something. Yeah.

I saw this on everybody was sharing this particular, you know, Facebook post. And I want to know what the truth is because I drive a lot of places right down the street from the radio studios. There's a family that's out there in the heat of summer and sometimes they're out there in the rain of, you know, horrible storms. And they're out with their kids there too on the side of the road. And I see them there and I've given to them, I've gotten off that exit there on M5 to come here to the radio studios, coming, you know, from Farmington, Livonia and stuff. And I just, I have to. I don't even care if they're faking it. If the kids are there on the side of the road, I have to give them money. At one point I sit there and I think to myself, if I've got $5 or something like that in my pocket or a couple of dollars, who knows, I'm going to give it to them. I just feel bad these kids are on the side of the road and they're there. And I'm thinking there's no way that a parent would be that much of a horrible person that they would fake that and put their kids out on the road like that.

I feel like with all the Dateline specials we saw on people faking it, we are desensitized to it now. So, like, it's hard to believe. I mean, I'm with you. I don't know how you bring your kids into it and still go through with that, but it's hard to believe some of these people are out there doing that when you see all these fake stories.

But what did that guy see, if that is true and it wasn't just Photoshopped or whatever, what did that guy see this family do that made him go, this is fake, I need to save other people from, you know, giving them money or whatever?

That's what I want to know.

Nicole are you there yeah I've actually seen those people around before um me and my boyfriend were watching them and because we thought you know they're on fancy strollers they got their kids out there and you know it seems like really weird that they would have their kids

kids out there, and we actually followed them home one day, and they live in a house, they have a car, they're just trying to get money from people.

Yes, because I was curious. I've seen them everywhere. I've seen them all around the neighborhood, and I'm wondering, like, how do you go from one part of the neighborhood to another part of the neighborhood if you're claiming you need money?

tucson there was a guy that was notorious for this and they said that he would drive a mercedes so they actually had one of the tv stations follow them yeah and the guy got into a brand new beautiful mercedes and actually a car dealer at the mercedes dealership said he bought the car with cash that he was getting from these people marie what's up it's mojo in the morning

No, but I work right on Hall Road and M53 on Utica Park Boulevard, and they are out here every year. They were out here last year, and they bring their kids out in, like, 90-degree weather, and I just feel so bad for those kids. So I don't know if it's actually fake, but, I mean, it's got to be. Because you're bringing your kids out here They shouldn't be putting their kids through that And all that

These are all scams. These are all scams. I've spoken to police officers and they've run plates. Some of these guys drive in from Toledo and from past Lansing. And the police officers say they make about $450 to $500 a day because of people giving them money. There was a guy in front of the Home Depot in Brighton last summer playing the violin, hooked up to a speaker. Oh, yes. He kept playing My Heart Will Go On, the theme song from Titanic.

Yes.

And people were giving him money and taking pictures. And I went up to him when he got done, and I said, I'll give you $20 cash if you play any other song. And he wouldn't play any other song.

Yes. That was a big thing for a while. Remember, like, the last couple of summers, because there was one outside of the Trader Joe's in Bloomfield. It was a kid. Yeah. And his dad would stand there with him. It was the same thing. People got mad at me. Yep. You are such a jerk.

I said, $20 for any other song? He can play Pop Goes the Weasel. Any other song. Yeah. He had a little lamb. $20 if he plays the other song. But he wouldn't. Yeah, it's just a recording.

I will tell you this, though. I only learned Mary Had a Little Lamb when I was in the fifth grade band at St. Michael's. So, there is only one song.

Yeah, there you go. Hey, come on. Real quick, I do have to say one thing, though. There is a man off of Northwestern Highway and Orchard Lake Road. I don't know if he's still there, but he's an elderly man dressed in a really nice suit. And I'm not going to lie to you. I've given that guy money before because he's one of the nicest guys. He's very thankful when you give him money. And honestly, any guy that's going to dress up in a suit and instead of sitting around the house all day is going to go out on the streets and hold up a sign saying, I'll give them money, I don't care. I've seen signs where guys are like, why lie, I need a beer. Just be honest with you.

Yeah, I'll give them money.

You know, when Megan was talking about that facial cleanser and all that other stuff, I said, you know what, I'm going to go online, I'm going to buy a bunch of them, and then just burn them just because, you know, mess with Megan.
