We podcast as the show goes on, so listen to us whenever you want to, wherever you want to. It's Mojo in the Morning Show. So I was told that I have to do a disclaimer at the beginning of this thing, but I think that it's gotten a little carried away right now, you parents. If you have little kids with you, and when we mean little kids, we're talking about little kids that later in life are going to probably need a little help.

00:03:33 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 7:

Turn it down.

00:03:34 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 5:

Turn the radio down.

00:03:35 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 7:

Turn it down. Yeah. I don't want to ruin it for anybody.

00:03:37 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 5:

You don't want to ruin it for anybody. But I think there are certain things that are considered to be, like, secrets from your kids. This is one of those ones where it's gotten carried away.

00:03:47 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 7:

No, I agree with you. Trust me. On behalf of all parents, please make it stop.

00:03:54 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 2:

It would almost be a service for us to ruin this surprise and stop society from making this any bigger of a thing that it already is.

00:04:02 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 7:

And you guys will vouch for me here. I get really into, I'm one of the weird parents. I love having an elf on the shelf visit our house. I love Santa Claus. The Easter bunny creeps me out, but I love Easter baskets. I love the tooth fairy. I love it all. I draw the line at the leprechaun that had to visit my house over the weekend. Okay. Did you know this was a thing?

00:04:25 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 5:

Because this is a thing. I think I knew it only because maybe a year ago you mentioned it.

00:04:30 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 7:

I mentioned it, and I said no. I put the kibosh on it. You said no to it? I said no, because both of my kids, Lucy, who's almost nine, Smith, who's five, came home last year, and they were like, oh, there's a leprechaun that's coming to our house for St. Patrick's Day. And I said, mom has never, ever had a leprechaun visit her, and we don't have a leprechaun at our house. Well, I got away with it last year. Well, this year on St. Patrick's Day, they both came home from school. Every kid in their class apparently was going to have a leprechaun.

00:05:00 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 4:

come visit them and they had to make a trap and all these things and i said guys we don't have a

00:05:06 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 1:

leprechaun and i felt like such a mean mom truly because i i do i love getting into all this stuff

00:05:16 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 4:

but i was like i you gotta you gotta put a boundary in here somewhere right and this is my

00:05:20 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 3:

boundary so this leprechaun thing just like shows up and what does it do no so you have to set a

00:05:27 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 4:

trap for the leprechaun. Okay. And then the leprechaun comes into your house and it never gets trapped. It gets, it sets off the trap and creates mischief in your house. Some people's leprechauns leave gifts and then it goes away.

00:05:43 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 3:

The trap doesn't work. So there's really no seeing a leprechaun. You don't see a leprechaun. It's not like there's an elf on. No. You don't see a leprechaun.

00:05:51 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 4:

It just, it makes mischief in your house.

00:05:52 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 2:

God, I'm glad my kids are older. No, no, no. You got one at home. Yeah, you have a little one.

00:05:56 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 4:

You got one at all. I tell Lucy Smith, we're not doing a leprechaun. You guys can set a trap, but I'm just telling you, we don't have a leprechaun that visits our house. Well, what does Wes do? My fiancee comes to my house, unbeknownst to me, by the way, with all these bags of stuff. We're making a leprechaun trap. And I'm like, you are a better man than me. And he was so excited. They built this thing and put a pulley on my dining room light. I mean, they made it this big thing.

00:06:23 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 3:

Did you know when you met him that you were going to be getting a third child?

00:06:26 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 4:

He's a third child. He's a third child, okay? So the leprechaun overnight didn't get trapped but set off the trap. He left gold glitter footprints everywhere, all over my kids' faces, all over my kitchen counter. Well, fast forward to, it is now Tuesday, March 21st. The footprints that have been left on my counter, I think he must have bought some sort of super glue, won't come off.

00:06:55 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 3:

Oh, God.

00:06:55 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 4:

So I have about 200 little gold dots that I have tried nail polish remover. I have tried Goo Gone. I have tried Oven Cleaner. My next thing that I'm going to try today is to scrape it, but I don't want to ruin my counter over this leprechaun. And here's the other thing that's happening. Smith is now absolutely terrified to go to bed because he thinks little leprechauns are going to be running around his room when he's sleeping. So now, Andrew called me the night before last, and he goes, what is going on? Why won't Smith go to bed? He keeps talking about a leprechaun, and then he's scared.

00:07:31 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God.

00:07:31 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 4:

The whole thing has backfired so bad. So, mom, we are tapped out. Moms are tapped out.

00:07:38 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 2:

No more stupid things on shelves that are watching.

00:07:40 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 4:

It is the worst peer pressure. And then you're the bad mom if everybody else in the class has a leprechaun that comes to their house, and you're not, there's no leprechaun for you.

00:07:48 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 3:

I think that this is, you know, fantasy world is fun for the kids, but I don't think that we need to have fantasy world for every holiday. Right. Like, I think there are certain... Like, St. Patrick's Day, honestly, let's let it be an adult holiday. Let's just have mom and dad drink, and that's it. You know what I mean? Kids wear green on St. Patrick's Day, that's fine, but we don't need to have all the...

00:08:10 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 4:

Andrew had Smith call me last night because he was scared to go to bed, and he's like, I'm so scared that the leprechauns are going to come to my room now at Dad's. They're going to follow me to Dad's.

00:08:18 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 3:

Oh great Wes You've now given this guy nightmares

00:08:21 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 4:

I go a big bunny walks around your house on Easter That's scarier to me

00:08:26 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

Leprechauns though seem like I would be more scared of leprechauns than a bunny

00:08:30 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 2:

There's also those horror movies that have that evil leprechaun So if you google leprechaun Sometimes the creepiest pictures come up

00:08:36 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 3:

Michelle what's up

00:08:37 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 1:

Good morning how are you guys

00:08:40 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 3:

Good Michelle

00:08:40 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 2:

We're good for now but they're going to start having turkey on a shelf And earth day tree on a switch

00:08:46 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 3:

Hey, let's not knock out turkey on a shelf. That doesn't sound bad, honestly. Do you do this, Michelle?

00:08:52 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 1:

So we have a leprechaun that visits our house every year, and my kids set a trap. There's six and four, but the trap is the cereal container you keep cereal in.

00:09:04 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 2:

Okay.

00:09:05 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 1:

So he just brings Lucky Charms every day, every St. Patrick's Day.

00:09:08 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 3:

You got a simple leprechaun.

00:09:10 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 1:

Right. He doesn't cause mischief in my house, but it all started from preschool. They set traps every day up until St. Paddy's Day, but never caught him.

00:09:20 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 3:

Should we have a conversation with preschool teachers that they need to find new lesson plans?

00:09:24 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 1:

I'm just saying it's pretty sure it's the preschool teacher's fault. I love teachers, but let me tell you, this is where it started. And we've set a trap for three years now. And every year he brings us Lucky Charms.

00:09:37 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 3:

Amazing. Well, I'll take that leprechaun. I like Lucky Charms. I love that.

00:09:40 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 4:

That leprechaun's visiting my house next year.

00:09:43 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

I'm cool with that. That's Louie the Lazy Leprechaun. He's been drinking.

00:09:46 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 3:

Lauren, what's happening? It's Mojo in the Morning Show.

00:09:48 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

Hey, good morning. Good morning. I got ambushed by my six-year-old at the kindergarten lunch when I walked in and everyone was talking about their leprechaun. My son asked me why we don't have a leprechaun.

00:10:00 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 2:

That's it. That's how it happens. It's a peer pressure.

00:10:03 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 7:

Did you tell him he has a roof over his head and warm clothes?

00:10:07 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 5:

Well, that's my big gripe with this.

00:10:10 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 3:

He just moved, and so I told him, I said, he doesn't know where we live yet. I just know what to do.

00:10:16 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, that'll buy you a year. Like somebody in 24H is Texas. We have a birthday fairy. Why do you parents want to continue with this stuff that takes the credit away from you for all the wonderful things you do for your children? And guess what?

00:10:29 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 7:

Your kids go to therapy later in life, and they hate you.

00:10:32 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 5:

Yes. You're stressing them out because there's always some magical creature spying on them. Yeah. Why don't you just say, we're the parents. We bought you the birthday gifts, not a birthday fairy.

00:10:41 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 2:

Honestly, you just said birthday fairy, and it makes me want to cry because I have a birthday coming up, and I don't want to be anything else.

00:10:47 - 00:11:05 | Speaker 7:

Right. I don't. Spike, you are absolutely right. These parents don't understand when later in life their kids do go to therapy, they're all going to sit around going, my parents didn't do anything for me. It was a little fairy elf, fat guy, bunny.

00:11:06 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 5:

Why do you need an elf on a shelf to threaten your children to be good for three months? We were already given the greatest threat of Santa Claus is watching. Naughty list.

00:11:15 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 2:

I like the elf, yeah.

00:11:16 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 7:

Hold on a second.

00:11:17 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 2:

Like the leprechaun?

00:11:18 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 7:

Lindsay. Lindsay the leprechaun is on the phone with us right now. Hello, Lindsay.

00:11:22 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 3:

Hi, Mojo. I mean, can you do your leprechaun impression?

00:11:26 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 7:

Would you like me? Maybe I can make money off this. That would be a good idea. Ha-ta-ta-ta-ta. Hello, Lindsay. Ha-ta-ta-ta-ta.

00:11:33 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 3:

I love that. Okay, so my complaint is you can, I mean, these parents do all of this stuff for their kids, right? And then they post it on social media. So what's that saying? Comparison is the thief of joy. Yep. I mean, you can do this stuff and not put it on social media.

00:11:53 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 2:

I am guilty of putting it on, but I had no hand in creating it.

00:11:57 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 5:

Your sentence was half right when you said they do this for their kids. They're just doing it for the Instagram. That's it.

00:12:02 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 3:

Exactly. And it makes me feel like a bad mom, and I'm tired of it.

00:12:06 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. You know what? You're not a bad mom. As a matter of fact, you're a smart mom. You know how many moms are envious of you that you didn't start that crap?

00:12:14 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 2:

Well, I love the mom that texted, I have a five-year-old. I will never do any of these.

00:12:18 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:12:19 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 2:

I said it, too.

00:12:20 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 7:

Lindsay.

00:12:20 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 2:

I said that, too.

00:12:21 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 7:

Lindsay, how clean are your countertops?

00:12:24 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 3:

I keep my countertops really cool.

00:12:27 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 7:

You don't have anything on your countertops?

00:12:28 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 3:

No gold glitter footsteps? No, my husband clutters them up. He's the type like, oh, I'll just put my lunch back.

00:12:37 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 7:

No, no, she didn't catch the bus.

00:12:39 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 6:

I don't know if you want to be such a curmudgeon, though. Snoop on a stoop is watching.

00:12:43 - 00:12:44 | Speaker 5:

Right.
