think it's time for more mojo mojo in the morning all right it is mojo in the morning show i want

00:02:11 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 5:

you guys to tell me your thoughts on this uh do you feel like this is an even friendship or not but also i want to know if you've ever done this before and had it turn out the way that i had it turn out so i celebrated a birthday just recently and for my uh birthday uh or as uh my friend donna said birth birthday she said who says it so with a hard birthday my friend whitney said birthday it drove me nuts birthday um i had uh gotten some very nice gifts from my family and some friends and every now and again I will get gifts and I'll go why would they buy that for me like I look at it and go you know what I mean and then I get gifts and I'm going oh they know me well well I had a friend of mine that gave me a gift and the items that they gave me were two items that I just thought it's not me okay are you gonna say what they were they were just two shirts okay and it was not something, yeah, I was like, yeah, okay, not me, no problem. So I ended up going and returning them. Oh, you really did like them. I did, yeah. So I ended up going and returning them.

00:03:25 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 6:

Which means he likes the store cab because he wanted the store credit.

00:03:27 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 5:

Well, I also, well, it was the store, but it was also, honestly, it was that I don't want them sitting there. And then what ends up happening for me is if I get something, usually like at Christmas time come June I end up seeing it still sitting there with the tag on it and at that point I'm SOL and it's pretty much going either to the Salvation Army or some other guy that's a 2x okay so I go to return the gifts and I go get two gifts that are two gifts that I or two things that I would like okay I picked out two things from the similar type of thing that they that I got And when I went to go return the thing, they said, okay, yeah, go shop around and see what you think, and then come on back up here. So I did it, went back up there with my two things, and they're ringing me up, and she goes, that will be $150 or whatever it was. It turned out to be like $149 and some change.

00:04:21 - 00:04:22 | Speaker 6:

For what you bought.

00:04:22 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 5:

For what I bought. So I looked at the two things that I got, and I said, well, wait a second. I just returned two things that were of equal. Yeah. And they said, yeah, they both were on clearance. they were $25 or something like that a piece the person who bought me the gifts bought me Clarence items I love it give me that seal cap where's that seal cap?

00:04:47 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 3:

wow so the two gifts that I

00:04:50 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 5:

bought, just not that long ago within the last year I bought gifts for this particular person and bought full price ones

00:04:58 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

like expensive

00:05:00 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 1:

like a nice nice gift i bought really nice ones yeah i bought nice gifts see i don't think there's anything wrong with buying you gifts from the clearance area if they're good cool things that they thought you would like now where i go hmm is knowing because you are a great you and shells are great very generous gift givers thank you so knowing thank you you gotta butter them up when it's tough like this because you know no but truly you are so that's where I go okay you probably know in your head how much you spend and not that it always needs to be equal but

00:05:37 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 4:

this reminds me by the way I get where your brain was this reminds me of my aunt that Aunt Carol that would buy she was like my fake godmother you know they're like the ones like yeah that's your godmother godmother it's not really your godmother like actually my godparents are my brother and my sister my two older siblings okay and uh but aunt carol was like this is your godmother and you have to go get her a gift at christmas time and when i would work as a young kid i would have to go with my own money and go buy her gifts and i would buy her gifts and every year she would get me something that honestly smelled like smoke because it probably was sitting in her her house for who knows how long because she would always buy it at the end of the Christmas season, and it would be some clearance item. So that kind of got me on that one. But second, and I want to deflect from this topic here right now, but I want to know when you get a gift from somebody and that gift that you get from somebody comes after you bought them a gift, don't you think that you should do it of equal or so value?

00:06:44 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 5:

So two things. To answer that question, I think just basing it off value takes away the intentionality of a gift. If you're an intentional person, which is kind of where I felt like Shannon was kind of going, because you guys are generous gift givers, but I feel like there's intentionality in the gifts that you give. I'd rather that, no matter the price, make it something that's for me, because anybody can spend a dollar.

00:07:07 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 4:

You know what?

00:07:08 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 5:

But this is why it's not always the thought that counts. That's wrong.

00:07:11 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

This is my intentionality. That's what intentionality sounds like.

00:07:15 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 5:

But that's why they say, when people say it's the thought that counts, it does not. Because you can have the most meaningful gift. This person went off their way to get you a gift and you returned it. Because you know what?

00:07:25 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 4:

They put thought into getting clearance item gifts. That was the thought that counted in their part. No, they did not. Come on. They saw clearance and thought of you. Angela, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:07:36 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 2:

If you don't have a receipt, a lot of times they will just give you the price that it was at that point. Like today. She bought, like, a $100 shirt, and then, like, she bought it, like, three months ago. By now, it might be $25. That's a great point.

00:07:52 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

Angela, I had receipt.

00:07:54 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 2:

Oh.

00:07:54 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

Oh, wow, yeah. Yeah, so that.

00:07:56 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 2:

Then she just bought you clearance stuff, Mojo.

00:07:58 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. I mean, yeah, it was clearance items. And listen, I agree with you. Clarence items are wonderful to get when I'm getting them, when I'm saving the money. But I don't want a clearance item, and I don't want, you know, I don't want a $25 shirt. First off, when's the last time you bought a shirt at the mall for $25 that was... Target Universal Thread t-shirts.

00:08:24 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 1:

Go run and go get them. They are the best. I bought a pack, sir, and get some graphic tees.

00:08:28 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 4:

I'm telling you. They're like eight bucks. It was a $25 shirt. There is no way. Come on. There's no Peter Malaw for $25. By the way, that's what I replaced him.

00:08:36 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 3:

It did not have the Grayson logo all over it. Like the shirt he's wearing today. Please look at the Facebook lives you can see.

00:08:46 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 4:

Are we on right now? I want you to see it. This is not a $25 shirt. No, but you know what it's going to make?

00:08:52 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 5:

You can wear that shirt and then dry off after the pool.

00:08:55 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 4:

Pretty much. With the same shirt. Actually, I put this shirt on. I actually really love that shirt. I can't even make fun of it. I put this shirt on today for the specifics of keeping me and my soppy sweat all in. You know what I'm going to do next time? And this is the gods on us. the next time that we do it i'm just gonna buy gift cards because i don't even want to buy it

00:09:13 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 1:

okay speaking of gift cards do you guys remember kev i don't know if you were part of the show but i got a gift it was either for like my bachelorette party or my wedding i can't remember but somebody gave me a gift and it was a gift card to a spa that i really love to go to and when i went to check out the gift card i think it had a hundred dollars on it or i was led to believe that it had a hundred dollars and i remember when i checked out there was like forty one dollars and forty six oh my god they they gave a used gift card there is no way yeah hey nick what's going on

00:09:50 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

it's mojo in the morning hi at least you got a gift with some sort of thought with it my parents It's re-gift the casino giveaway gift.

00:10:00 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 3:

My sister and I asked us to go in and buy fancy gifts for them. So the thought that counts. My sister, Pat, always complains about another relative of ours that re-gifts the gift with purchase. You know how they would always do Clinique Bonus Week? Okay, I agree. I'd take them, so. And somebody re-gifted in our family, Nick, the gift that they got, which you cannot do that. That gift that you get is, you know, it's a non-negotiable item. I've done that. What's up, Morgan? How you doing? hey good how are you guys today good what's happening hey i'm just gonna pick on you a little bit are you saying clarence clarence i don't clarence yeah why wait what am i saying wrong what am i doing clarence uh clearance not clarence is a person so wait a minute hold on a second hold on clarence works the front door bro come on am i am i saying it wrong or what am i doing? Yeah, and I know we think I'd use this, but it's the milk, milk thing

00:11:00 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 2:
