Simply Southern Seafood Nothing's better Alright, it is Mojo in the morning show So, I love that Megan calls it this Because it sounds so like old school But she says she went to a mixer

00:01:22 - 00:01:26 | Speaker 3:

A little mixer Is that what it is? Shake and not stir You're a 30-year-old

00:01:26 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 6:

They call them mixers?

00:01:28 - 00:01:34 | Speaker 3:

I don't know. Yes? What else would you call it? It was an event for single people to show up to.

00:01:35 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 6:

Oh, okay.

00:01:35 - 00:01:37 | Speaker 3:

Where was this? Somewhere?

00:01:37 - 00:01:40 | Speaker 6:

I thought it was like, I went to the club or I went to where?

00:01:41 - 00:01:50 | Speaker 3:

I mean, was it at like a restaurant, a bar, a banquet hall? I just didn't. Not a banquet hall. Hold on. I'll text her it was, but I don't want to say.

00:01:51 - 00:01:54 | Speaker 5:

Okay. Is this like a regular thing at this place?

00:01:54 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 3:

They happen every couple of months.

00:01:56 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:01:57 - 00:04:24 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. so um oh okay yeah okay okay so i was at this mixer now i feel stupid saying mixer why would you make fun of me i don't know what else this gathering of human beings and um i we were going to be uh drinking a little bit so you kind of awkwardly go over and get a drink it's weird at those things right when you first show up and you're like uh what do i do it's the eighth grade dance where boys are on one side girls around the other yeah so i grab a drink and i'm looking around and I gravitate towards girls right away and the girls were all dressed up and looking super cute so it's easy to go over and be like your hair looks amazing where did you get those shoes and I realized well you know I'm here to talk to people who are actually interested in dating me back and most of that wasn't the girls in the room so I uh walked over to a guy who was off in the corner standing alone and he was just sitting on his phone and I was like oh that's kind of sad let's go talk to him because a lot of people had paired up at that time and I was in a small group of like five people and I was like he's sitting alone I'll go talk to him so I go over and I start talking to him and I think things are going great and then I realize every time somebody walks by me that is a female he stops paying attention to our conversation and just checks her out and this happens once and I'm like well she was hot like I get it you know what I mean like the first time you're like all right me too let me take a quick peek let me let me see that booty walk away and then the second time it happens you're like come on and then the third time it happens i'm like what am i doing here why like i went out of my way because you were standing alone not making an effort to talk to anybody just a little bit of respect would be nice a little bit yeah so then i said or i didn't say this but i was in my head going f this and i left the conversation and started talking to somebody else and for the rest of the evening he stood alone and nobody went over and talked to him. And I was like, karma, that's what you get, bitch. Like, how dare you? You disrespectful MF-er, go stand in the corner alone. Like, I don't know what is going on with the people that I have been talking to lately, but it's the constant checking of the phones or looking at other people. Like, you don't have to be interested. I'm not trying to learn your life. That's giving you their undivided attention would drive me crazy. And it's one thing if I approached you in a bar and you're not interested in this, But you showed up to the mixer saying, I'm interested in meeting new people.

00:04:24 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 6:

You know what? Well, it is the phones. It's like, honestly, nobody can talk unless they're texting. And it's crazy how that is. What would be this? I was just thinking about this. What if the guy was deaf?

00:04:36 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 5:

You're insane. He wasn't. Wouldn't that be funny? Maybe. Here's the thing. And I'll try to frame it in this way because I feel like it makes sense. First, I want to ask a question. When you are in these type of situations, do you always go for girls before guys?

00:04:50 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 3:

I think it's easier to start the conversation by talking to a woman just to be like, who are we checking out? Who are we interested in? And then it's also. easier to grab a guy you're interested into a group setting than just walking over to somebody and being like hi you know so it's kind of easier to be like what do you think about what we're

00:05:10 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 5:

talking about and bring them in this probably isn't the reason why but maybe he saw that you

00:05:16 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 2:

were talking to ladies first was like maybe she not even approached you right true i think what he did was totally rude and like i said it would drive me nutty as well but i do wonder and i'm not defending what he did but i do wonder if he's one of those people and mojo you do this by the way who when you're talking to somebody they're constantly looking at what's going on behind you yeah yeah and you don't you don't you don't mean it to be rude it it is like a it's it's my it is kind of exactly yeah i wonder if he's like that great i notice more and more than i know i know and trust me i don't agree with it but i'm saying like i feel like more and more people are

00:05:55 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 5:

like that now in those situations though because sometimes i'm that guy if i go out out to eat i've done it a lot of times with sherelle where i've like changed the where i sit to make sure that when i look in her direction is focus there's a wall there yeah or something to that effect which

00:06:09 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 4:

is i have to do that yeah and i've done it before we've gone to this restaurant called bow's that's by our house and out there they have mirrors and the worst is i cannot face the mirrors because I'm looking up at their mirrors that are up on the thing. I had a buddy of mine who's a single guy, a guy I've golfed with, who said to me, he goes, I would love to have your gift, but use it for girls. And he said to me, he goes, you would actually do great if you were single. And I said, what do you mean? And he said, you walk up to anybody and everybody and talk to them. Yeah. And I think it's because of what we do. For sure. But sometimes people just don't know what to go up and say and how to, I guess, it's kind of a corny thing but say break the ice like you don't know what to uh to say at first and a lot of times for me i will try to use a joke to make things happen yeah and um and you're actually

00:07:00 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 3:

good at that though you're the easiest person to talk to yeah and i broke the ice i did the i did the heavy lifting i approached you you didn't even have to approach me and then make things awkward and then i made the conversation easy you were alone it looked kind of sad to be honest yes and And then I started the conversation. Did he ask a single question about me? No, I could tell you his full life story, though. What he does, where his sibling lives, where he's from, all. I can tell you everything. But he didn't ask a single question about me and then stood alone the rest of it. It would even be one thing if you were interested in somebody else. That's cool. Bow out of the conversation and approach them. But you didn't. You stood there the whole time and didn't have the common courtesy to be polite.

00:07:39 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

Was he cute, though?

00:07:41 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 3:

That's okay. Did you meet anybody from this event that you'd be interested in? so there is somebody but they didn't show up and they've shown up to other ones oh yeah so you've

00:07:51 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 2:

gone to a few of these and we're just now finding out about it yeah oh great they honestly no no to

00:07:57 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 3:

be fair to be a lot they're very short they're very short get togethers they're like 30 minutes to an hour max and a lot of times nothing happens that's interesting to bring up that's not an

00:08:09 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

excuse for not telling us hey jackie what's up uh megan went to a mixer i'm sorry it's like we're

00:08:17 - 00:08:23 | Speaker 2:

at fifth grade like ymca hey i got something for you the mixer's on thursday what's up jackie what's

00:08:23 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 1:

going on hey what's up i went to a cabaret and i'm the type of person where i don't like to go out with everything hanging out with you know my pants skin tight but i still look nice and this guy was trying to talk to me but every time somebody walked past that was half blank dress his focus was on them i said you know what sweetheart i said maybe i'm wasting your time i said it could be because if that's what you're looking for that's who you need to be with i'm not that one oh no baby no baby it's not like that it's not like that i said well if you can look at her in front of my face i can only imagine what you would do behind my back i was like i'm gonna have a nice night and i walked away i mean it's just like this wow disrespect yeah i don't have to walk around with my chest hanging out if i'm gonna get somebody they're gonna take me with my shirt with a turtleneck on or with my blouse button i don't have to have everything hanging out

00:09:15 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 4:

but it is a cabaret what is a cabaret too like everybody's calling up coming up with these

00:09:22 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

things what is it what is a cab a cabaret that's a cabaret that's like a performance well no it's Not that type of cabaret. It's like, you know. A strip club? Were you at a strip club? No, a pop party. No, when black folks throw a party, everybody's bringing their own booze and they sell setups, which is like fried chicken or a bag of ice. And they sit there and they drink and they dance and they have a good time. Isn't that called a popluck?

00:09:44 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 5:

Like a kickback. I've never heard it called a cabaret. I love black people! I thought a cabaret was like performance. Be ready to hustle in there. Have you heard of cabaret at all, Kevin? Yeah. Yeah, for sure.

00:09:54 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 4:

You have?

00:09:55 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 5:

Be ready to hustle in there.

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

What's going on? Sarah, what's happening?

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 6:

Hey, happy New Year's.

00:10:01 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 5:

Hey.

00:10:05 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 6:

So something that I do is I, whenever I've gone out on a date and there's like a TV there, I sit where I'm actually the one looking at the TV. Because I've had it many times with like exes where they're just like looking straight over my head with, you know, looking at the TV and stuff. And I'm like thinking like, you know, if you're actually taking me out, like I'm, you know, we're not going out to watch TV. um like it's different if you go to like a sports bar for like a specific game and stuff but like if you're on an intentional date there's tvs around you're supposed to be looking at that's

00:10:38 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 5:

why a first date is not good at buffalo wild wings i mean with the guy you know what i mean it's like there's eight million televisions throughout the whole place bowl season what what's up dustin hi hey what's going on what's going on

00:10:52 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 3:

I was listening to him having a story. I'm like, what was the whole time the guy was the security guard?

00:10:59 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 4:

That's funny. That's funny, but we did talk about his job in detail. So, no. That would be great. You're mad.
