So I think a lot of times during COVID, a lot of people were hired on the basis of working from home. And I think for a lot of industries that may have changed over the past few months. And some businesses are bringing people back a couple of days a week. Some are like strictly you've got to come back to the office 24-7. Well, maybe not 24-7, but normal business hours, right? Five days a week. But one of my girlfriends is telling me that this guy who was hired during COVID never showed up to anything. never like office parties or any happy hours that was happening but as soon as the email went out that everybody has to come back to the office every single day of the week this guy bounced and here's what I don't really have a problem with you bouncing like if that's not the job you signed up for cool it was the way that he bounced that I was a little surprised by because the lack of professionalism really has even exceeded my expectations and my bar was very low he quit via text he didn't call he didn't even send an email he didn't do the team's message he straight up just texted his boss i'm out and i think that's awesome deuces i thought it was so good i was like you know what i feel you that's how i feel about a lot of situations lately it's like you

ended up happening was they just wanted something that was closer to home so they were working for companies that were not that close to their house like one was there's a girl that is mutual friends of a buddy. She lives in Rochester and the work that she got was down in like Wyandotte or downriver. And that's a long drive and I totally get that. So she was like when the company said hey you gotta come back in to work she was like there ain't no way I'm fighting through that kind of traffic. Yeah. Which those that don't live anywhere in our Detroit listening area that's probably every day well over an hour commute you know to and from if it's traffic it's more uh nicole what's up it's mojo in the morning

The day before I was working there, I had gotten harassed, like, really, really bad by two coworkers. And the next day, they asked me if I was coming in. I'm like, no, I'm not. I quit. I'm sorry.

Like, via text message. Yes.

Did you text your boss or manager and tell them?

No, it's actually the boss's assistant.

Okay.

Do you get a text message response back, or do you get a phone call?

No. So, no, I didn't get nothing back. I just, I didn't get any response back. It's just, I quit. I'm not, I mean, I didn't want to work in an environment where I was being harassed.

Oh, of course. Yeah, yeah.

But I wonder, though, if you just left it up now for that next person to take your job to get harassed.

But that's not on you. I know, I know. I felt bad.

I know, but I mean, I just don't want to be in that environment either. It is, but it is. But you should be complaining to somebody so they have record of it.

Well, the thing is, the thing is, is the manager, that's the head boss of the company, is actually her daughter that I was working for, who's the assistant. Oh, man.

So that was a messy situation, unfortunately. That would be a tough one.

Yeah. And the daughter was the one who was making fun of me. And I can't tell her mom, hey, your daughter's making fun of me. So I was like, no.

Good for you for getting out. That sounds super toxic.

Yes. I was a manager for physical therapy clinic, and a new boss took over, and they wanted me to just work all these extra hours, cut my pay, didn't want to pay me, and so I literally sent them a text, went in, got my key on the desk, locked the door behind me, and took all my stuff and left.

Wow. And what did you do with the appointments that you had that day?

No, they weren't. There was no one there. It was after hours. And they were just in the middle of switching over to a new boss. Okay. And, yeah.

I wonder if, too, and not saying that it is appropriate to quit over text, but we've done so many things for so long that we're not face-to-face that it's just very normal. Yeah. You know what I mean? To quit that way. You don't even think twice about it. Yeah.

You never had a Molly working for you? Molly, did you quit on that app?

I didn't quit on the app, but I definitely did quit over text. I had switched to just work on weekends, and since I gave that notice, I was very spotty on the schedule to the point where they did schedule me for three weekends in a row. I had gotten my check mailed to me And my boss messaged me one day And said hey are you going to work this weekend And I said well I assumed I was fired Because I hadn't been scheduled for three weeks And I got my check mailed to me So I had quit and she said okay

What's that Lisa? The manager?

I said yeah that happens We do that too

Lisa what's the craziest reason why somebody Texts you to say they quit?

um the craziest i should just they just say they quit they don't give a reason yeah they just kind of say that we're out of here exactly uh ashley what did you do

ash hi i'm sorry about that uh so it actually wasn't me who did this it was my husband And it was just recently. He was a manager of a specific location, I won't say. But he left a letter in the company vehicle that he had to take home and back and forth to work. He had wrote out a long letter, explained everything, left the keys, his credit card for the company, um uh old like getting tools or anything that he had um it just dropped it off late one night when

no one was in the office and just moved on and why did he have to do it that way instead of

like a face-to-face or an email or phone call or whatever so um he had never left a job like that he always did things the appropriate way gave it given the two weeks and and followed through with actually um he had asked

them to sit down with him and have a meeting and just talk about the reason why he was going to leave. And they just disregarded and kept saying how busy they were and they would get a time set up later. And he said, well, if they're going to not listen, then I'm just going to do what I need

to do and move on. Wow. Did you see, and thank you for the call, by the way. Did you see this text? I wasn't quitting through text I was fired via text How can a company fire Somebody over text That's wild That they could do that

Okay. But with the way that you returned text messages from us, I would like assume that if you got fired via text, you'd show up like five or six more days later going, oh, what's going on?

Oh, if I got, oh, for sure. For sure. You don't ever. But I'm also under the impersonation, like if I just keep showing up, you have to keep paying me. So like fire me, try, but I need the check.

Haven't you ever seen how many there are? Wait, you're acting like there's not currently 1,560 unread text messages. Unbelievable. Isn't that insane?

And how can a company do that? Don't say the name of the company, but what did they do?

They manage properties.

Oh, wow. And the tax, was it long or was it just quick?

It was very quick. Just said, hey, this isn't working out. I don't even remember the end of it. Just something about it's not working out. I had left my company credit card out on my desk because my computer died at work, and I had to go buy a new computer so I could work. And I had left it on my desk when I left work. And he took that like I was quitting or something.

Wow. It was just by accident. That's unbelievable.

Well, no, it was in the works for a long time because I also ordered business cards for everyone with new logos except mine and didn't think I was going to notice.

Jeez, that's amazing that you would take that as that you weren't coming in anymore. You can fire somebody over text without getting yourself into trouble.

apparently because then he also tried to fight unemployment and i just sent the copy of the text
