I'm Mange Shachigular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:19 - 00:00:24 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:01:18 - 00:01:23 | Speaker 4:

We've got actual people answering these exact questions. Listen to Bill and Juliana.

00:02:31 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 7:

arbor is that right yeah we were in downtown ann arbor so we weren't on we weren't like at

00:02:36 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 9:

the school or anything oh i thought you were partying with a bunch of college kids i was

00:02:38 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 7:

like that's cool it sounds like fun no we just um we still like to have a good time we're just not in college anymore no just having trouble growing up no i met uh my friend who i went to college with lives out in Ann Arbor because she's a nurse out there so oh at Michigan Madison yes that's cool yeah so she's busy busy and finally grabbed her for a weekend and we went out and went bar hopping to a couple different places but we had a time we had a good time

00:03:06 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 9:

how good of a time did you have you know you had a good time when you wake up the next day and Something crazy was told to you of what happened the night before.

00:03:14 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. So I woke up. I actually super proud of myself because I brought a change of clothes. Ended up leaving it in my car. So I didn't get to wear that change of clothes. I ended up having to wear my friend's pajamas and then in the morning get back into the night out clothes. Yeah. Which is the worst feeling ever. but i was checking the mirror the following morning and i noticed something special on uh on my pants oh hold on wait can we guess yeah yeah all right let's let's guess here right

00:03:47 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 9:

now guess what was on kp's pants the next day you're the sticky tag that says the size nope uh oh no no no no no um something from the night before something from the party the night before A drink that was spilled on you Beer

00:04:03 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 7:

Not a drink, but it is kind of liquid

00:04:06 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 9:

Okay Oh, God Oh, wait, hold on a second Were there other people involved besides you and the girlfriend? No No Okay

00:04:14 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 7:

I'm sorry, I went right down there Gotta ask, no

00:04:17 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 9:

Mike, any guesses on your part for KP? On what was on her pants? Well, I was going down that road, too

00:04:23 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 8:

But throw up? Is it puke? No

00:04:25 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 9:

Oh, God, no throw up

00:04:26 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 7:

This is the before you throw it up before you throw it up it's food i'll give you it's food it's a condiment a condiment oh yeah mustard close ketchup yes yeah you had ketchup wait you said you went out to a club or something right yes only me would go to a club and find ketchup on the ground and trail themselves through it and uh it was literally it looked like a massacre i'm calling at the ketchup massacre because it was all over the bottom of my pants like i'm not kidding it looked like i ran

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 5:

through a river of ketchup why was there ketchup in the club uh well that could also be my fault

00:05:05 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 3:

too not gonna lie i think usher had a song about it yeah ketchup in the club yeah ketchup in the

00:05:10 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 5:

club well no food uh so obviously we were ordering food but the guy in front of me at the bar was wearing this hoodie and he was super super tall and i thought it would be really funny to see how many packets of ketchup i could put in his hoodie without him noticing and i guess i must have dropped a couple packets because that's exactly how I... I'm just trying to picture

00:05:31 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 6:

how did I... It's the wrong K word. It wasn't ketchup, it was karma. It was.

00:05:35 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 5:

I was trying to figure out how I ended up with all this ketchup on me. Like, where could I have possibly gone? It was my own... It was self-inflicted ketchup. It was your own doing. Yeah. Ketchup karma.

00:05:45 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 3:

Your shenanigans from the clubs that caused you to get it all over you, huh? Yep. So I dropped

00:05:51 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 5:

a bunch of packets on the ground and I must have stabbed it with my heel because

00:05:55 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

Don't you love by the way That when you wake up the next day After being out in the club And you want to go out with your friends And stuff like that You have to go out with your going out hair You know what I mean

00:06:10 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 4:

Yeah but you have good going out hair KP My hair gets really ratty It's not fair You've got good curly hair

00:06:19 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 3:

I always love whenever I see My Chaldean friends Out the next day after a wedding A big Chaldean wedding And the girls all still have their makeup And they're like

00:06:30 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 5:

Done up hair and stuff

00:06:32 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 3:

And they're at the Coney

00:06:33 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 5:

Those curls will stay for days I had my day after makeup on though Which I'm not proud of You know you gotta take your makeup off But sometimes it's just impossible

00:06:45 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 6:

Sometimes it's just too good a night

00:06:46 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 3:

It's the ketchup walk of shame That you had

00:06:49 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 5:

I was grossed out I'm like did I murder someone and not even realize it

00:06:53 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 3:

No, it's true though It looks like a crime scene

00:06:56 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 5:

People were probably thinking I did something funky somewhere First response for me would be blood, not ketchup That's what I thought I'm like, oh my god, am I bleeding all over my ankles? Did I not even realize that I cut myself?

00:07:10 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 6:

At least the ketchup was around your ankles, not around your crotch Oh my god

00:07:13 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 5:

844-665-6548 After a night of being out partying. What did you wake up to the next day that you couldn't explain?

00:07:28 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 6:

The best part of going out is waking up the next morning and trying to piece together the events that transpired. For me, it's going through my purse.

00:07:35 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

Spike, you know this, just from being in Vegas. Anything that's on the bar, fair game. Stirrers.

00:07:41 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 5:

Fruit. I ended up stealing like six mozzarella sticks from my neighbor that night. From your neighbor? Yeah, the guy next to me sitting there. You know what? If I have one too many tequila shots, I get a little fun. I get, like, nothing. There are no rules. We're going to put a bunch of ketchup in somebody's hoodie. Like, that is what we're doing.

00:08:03 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 3:

Remind me never to go out with her. Like, I love you, KP. You're such a sweet person. Not when you're drinking tequila. No. It's like all of a sudden, randomly, it's like, why do you have, like, you know, mayonnaise on you?

00:08:18 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 6:

You're not going to meet a cute cowboy If you're playing these reindeer games

00:08:22 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 5:

No, he loved it I even gave him a little smooch on the cheek Hold on a second Let me taste that

00:08:29 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 3:

It's barbecue sauce That's what it is So you met some guys

00:08:35 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 5:

The only person I met this weekend Was this guy who said he was a dentist But he had really bad breath I don't think he was a dentist

00:08:44 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 3:

He needed a dentist That's what he was trying to say to you Hi, Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:08:50 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Hey, good morning. I got a story that can be at KP.

00:08:53 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 3:

Okay. What did you wake up to the next day after a night of partying?

00:08:57 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 2:

Well, not necessarily what I woke up to, but what I stole the night before.

00:09:01 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 3:

Oh, okay. What was it? What did you steal?

00:09:04 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 2:

A bunch of letters from a McDonald's sign. Apparently, I got drunk. I drank too much. I walked to McDonald's, bought some food, passed out my food. Cops took me home. I walked in the front door. My mom said, Michael, you're in trouble. I said, I know. I walked out the back door, got back in the cop car. They came back to get me again. Jeez. I woke up next morning, and all the letters were on the floor. I have no idea. The letters?

00:09:28 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 3:

Oh, you mean like the letters on the sign that they would write like the deals and stuff with?

00:09:33 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think I was trying to spell my name, and I don't even know.

00:09:36 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 5:

Did you have a ladder? How did you get up there? It's like a free question.

00:09:40 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

Well, I'm a little bit older. They didn't necessarily have the larger signs back there. They have them in the front lawn, too.

00:09:47 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 3:

What's going on, Will? Hi.

00:09:50 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 2:

Hey, how's it going?

00:09:51 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 3:

Good, man. What did you wake up to or with the next morning after partying?

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

About 10 years ago, actually.

00:10:00 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 7:

woke up at my basement floor because I fell down the stairs after a Tiger game and broke my ankle.

00:10:06 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 5:

Oh, jeez. There's a lot of people that probably wake up to broken something the next day after they drink too much because the alcohol offsets any of the pain that you have. Right. Maria, this is an interesting one. What did you wake up to?

00:10:21 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 6:

When I was in college, me and my roommate, you know, we lived in a dorm, and we went out, and we were pretty hammered. and in the middle of the night, I felt this, like, lump at the end of my bed, and I thought it was my roommate, and I look up, and my roommate's sleeping in her bed, and it was this random girl that walked into our dorm room. Oh, my God. And we were, like, poking her, like, you know, if you, like, poke something with a stick.

00:10:49 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, well, you want to make sure she's alive.

00:10:51 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, and she, like, wouldn't wake up, and then she finally, like, woke up, and also this was during, like, Halloween weekend, So, like, she's in her full costume, like, so confused.

00:11:03 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 2:

What costumes?

00:11:05 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 6:

I think she was a ladybug.

00:11:09 - 00:11:09 | Unknown:

Oh.

00:11:10 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 6:

Lucky.

00:11:11 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 5:

Can I ask you a question? Yeah. Did anything happen with you guys, or did she just use the bed to sleep?

00:11:18 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

I mean, she, like, when we were, like, poking her, she, like, woke up, and she was staring at us and, like, very confused.

00:11:24 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 5:

I know, but so there was nothing romantic about her being in your bed.

00:11:27 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 6:

oh no no no i think she like thought it was her friend's dorm room and she just like walked in

00:11:33 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 5:

the wrong door and just got into the bed that could be a bad thing all these things are reasons why oh my gosh you gotta we gotta put an air tag on kp when she goes out next weekend uh what's

00:11:44 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 7:

going on tara hi hi uh january 1st 2021 uh the day after new year's eve i woke up with a street cone um the orange street cone yeah yeah i had one of them on my porch the next day of new year

00:12:00 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 5:

and i'm gonna swear it was not me yeah isn't it funny how you always want to just take those

00:12:06 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 7:

when you're drunk take like signs and things what was funny is i had i live on a main street in fosteria and uh uh the road crew was out the next day working on the on the street and the cone was still on my porch. And I'm like, holy crap, I'm going to jail. You know, FCI's on the way. So I go out there and I'm like, hey, this cone randomly, you know, got on my porch. Do you want to take it back? He's like, sure, randomly. He's like, no, it's my kitchen.

00:12:35 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 5:

I know.

00:12:36 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 7:

That's great. Awesome. Well, I love you guys. Shout out to Isai BSC for Amazon delivery. Love you guys.

00:12:43 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 5:

Love you too. Thank you. Stacey.

00:12:47 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 8:

Hello. Okay, so quite a few years ago, we had a festival in our town, and there was nowhere to park. We had to park, like, really far away, you know, down, like, side street, and I had been drinking really heavy, so I did not want to drive home. So I ended up just walking home, got so, so drunk, I couldn't even find my house when I was actually walking home. So the next morning, I woke up, obviously so hungover, and I looked out the window to see, like, make sure I didn't park the car funny or anything. I looked out. The car was not there. I realized I had walked home, and I literally lost the car. Oh, no. Oh, man. I borrowed the car from my babysitter. Oh. My car was in the shop. She had been calling me all day wanting her car back. Oh, my gosh. And I literally could not find it anywhere. Oh, my gosh.

00:13:39 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 5:

Did you guys eventually find it?

00:13:41 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 8:

Yes. I had to get my two daughters, my younger daughters, to go and start walking through the St. Clair with me, looking all over for the car. And we did end up finding it, but that was like mid-evening by then, by the time we found it. And I think the babysitter knew that we did lose the car, so it was bad.

00:13:58 - 00:14:01 | Speaker 3:

I mean, there's only three bars in St. Clair, but that's a great sign.

00:14:01 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, it was during a festival, and we weren't at the bar, we were just drinking.

00:14:05 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah. Well, at least you were smart enough to walk home, right? I mean, there's one silver lining. That is good. Yeah.

00:14:10 - 00:14:13 | Speaker 6:

I lose my car when I'm completely sober, so it's okay.

00:14:13 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 4:

00:15:49 - 00:16:09 | Speaker 5:

was sort of that last era of monoculture where we still consume things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another Rihanna.
