All right, Mojo in the Morning Show. So last week you were talking to us about the whole house stuff and the idea that, you know, Wes and you were talking about moving possibly and. I was crying. That became kind of a big thing in the house. Is everything settled down?

00:02:53 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 3:

Everything has settled down, but it's still a big topic of conversation. It's an important topic of conversation. So if you missed if you missed last week, definitely go and listen to the podcast. And I don't even know what its name, Zach. I think it's called The New House. But Wes, when when Wes and I got married, long story short, we moved into the home that I've been living in for 10 years now. That's Lucy and Smith's home. And so he and my two stepkids moved into our house. And over the course of a year, it just has not felt like home to Wes. In fact, he's felt quite uncomfortable. And so we thought about the possibility or he brought up the possibility of let's move and move into something and create something together for us, for our family. I was really wrestling with that because I love my house and I didn't want to move. Last week, we had an appointment to go look at a house and I was really surprised when we went to this house and it was just Wes and I, we didn't bring the kids or anything. I walked into this house and loved it. Like absolutely fell in love with it. And we spent this whole past weekend. I don't even, you knew this cause I had, I had caught up with you over the weekend, but we spent the weekend going back and forth with offers and counter offers and talking to people who lived in this specific area. Um, and then on Sunday afternoon, we got a text that the sellers ended up accepting another offer and I know it sounds crazy I was really sad I was bummed after all of that going I don't want to move I don't want to move why is this happening I've like I was so surprised at how bummed I was that we lost out on this house it's interesting

00:04:42 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 4:

because I thought that you would be like a little relieved because it gave you a little time because i didn't think that you were wanting to move i'm i i wasn't um what finally changed uh that made you

00:04:55 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

it was well it was a lot of conversations with west that we're still having and i don't want to

00:05:00 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 2:

you know, talk about that. Cause obviously they're, they're conversations that he and I are still having. Um, but I think it was going into a space and feeling comfortable and going, I could see my family really thriving here. Like, I think this could be a really good thing for us. however I had to do a lot of praying on like do is is this actually a good thing is it not and I think it was a total god thing that it fell through because it prompted Wes and I to have some really hard discussions that we had been putting off about finances and mortgages and house and it helped me change my heart on a lot of things and then we also started talking to the kids and filled them in that this had been happening behind the scenes that we had put an offer on a house and they were not happy about the possibility of a move particularly the girls were very very very upset about it wait even wes's daughter was upset about very upset about it yeah

00:06:07 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 1:

well what was the uh the okay so i i can see your kids because this has been their home for Oh, Smith was fine with it. Oh, Smith was all right.

00:06:16 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 2:

Lucy, before I could even get the words out of my mouth of Wes and I put an offer on it and she, like, started sobbing. And my stepdaughter just, she's moved a lot. And she said, I don't want to move again. And it would be further for her, away from her school and her friends and her mom.

00:06:38 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 1:

Although, not crazy far, right? Because I know the area was not that.

00:06:43 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 2:

10 minutes longer of a drive for her to school.

00:06:45 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 1:

Which is, I get the idea of packing up and moving again. Because these kids, so to kind of recap the listeners on, you know, Wes and Samantha and Kieran, Wes's daughter and son. The kids moved, they moved from dad's house to your house. So that was within like the last, what, year and so, right?

00:07:09 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 2:

Yes, and they also moved from mom's house to mom's new house.

00:07:13 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 1:

So mom moved again. So these kids are moving a bunch. A lot. And so it makes, I guess, sense, right, to see Samantha's kind of at the point.

00:07:22 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 2:

Just want to be settled somewhere.

00:07:23 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 1:

How is Wes's son with this, with him going away at school? He doesn't care. He doesn't care.

00:07:26 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 2:

As I was going to say, the boys didn't really care. Smith was like, oh, you know, he saw the house. He's like, okay, Kieran's going to college this weekend. So for him, it's like, whatever makes you happy.

00:07:36 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 1:

as a kid when you go away to college and this is a big this is a big deal as a kid when you're going away to college talking to like friends that have moved a lot of them move when the kids go away to college yeah when they go away to college it's a horrible time having them move while they're away because they don't feel like the house is theirs they don't get a chance to make the house theirs yeah you know i mean until after school semesters are are done with um what

00:08:01 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 2:

was lucy's uh emotion about that oh lucy was so upset i mean it just about broke my damn heart when i saw sam when i saw sam crying too it broke my heart but loose she just like that house is her comfort zone like that's where she grew up she is she kept saying you know think of all of

00:08:20 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 1:

the memories this is my house um she just feels safe there so after uh seeing the emotion that the girls had will you and west still continue to keep looking for a new house um for right now

00:08:36 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 2:

i think we're good where we are for a little bit we're gonna how long is a little bit i don't know we're gonna make a lot of changes to the house and um wait so this actually might have been a

00:08:45 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 1:

an eye opener for both of you guys on this well i said that to west i go maybe the reason this

00:08:49 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 2:

other house came into our lives was to prompt us to have some discussions that we had been putting

00:08:54 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

off yeah you know with yourselves or with the whole family discussions uh with the whole family yeah yeah well it's interesting it is interesting it's interesting to see kids perspectives on on moving because as you know two kids there is an emotion that uh they have because even if in samantha's case where this is such new memories there are still things that she's become attached to and it feels home it feels like home and honestly no matter how much you feel like home at least no matter how much that you um you think that kids are can be resilient and stuff like this there's an emotional attachment that they have to to things especially if they've been moving a bunch but lily what's up what do you want to say to shannon hi lily are you talking to me yeah is that your name lily no my name's rebecca oh i'm sorry about that how are you doing rebecca i'm good how are you good what's going on um so i actually went through this exact almost the exact same situation so when she was

00:10:00 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 3:

was talking about it, I was really shocked. So I got together with my husband. At the time, I already had my daughter. So I moved in with him because he already owned the house. So we lived there for maybe about three years. Me and him had another child together. So we ended up deciding that as we were expanding our family, we needed a bigger house. So we started looking for houses. We ended up finally finding one after a year. And when I told my daughter, who is 10 now, absolutely broke her heart. She was crying every single day, begging me not to move. She said that was her house. She had been there the longest in her life. She didn't want to switch everything up and felt like we were taking her away from her safe space. We were moving a city over, which was about 5, 10 minutes away from where we previously were living. So that was a big change for her, and she thought she was going to be distant from her friends. So finally, we ended up moving into the house. She kind of resented it for a little bit, just because obviously she already discussed with us that that was not something that she wanted to do. But fast forward a year later, here we are. We've been in the house for, like I said, almost a year. She's absolutely thriving. She said this is her favorite house she's ever lived in. She loves that there's more space. It's just, I think that in that age group also, they have a lot of attachment to items and things. And it's just hard for them because they do develop a safe space. So I think pulling them away from that is really difficult for them, as it is for us, too. I was going to say, I do really attach to the house.

00:11:43 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. I talked to my therapist about this last week, and she was like, you know, you take your kids' thoughts and feelings into consideration, but you don't let them be the reason you do or don't do something, you know?

00:11:57 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 3:

And you wouldn't ever make a decision that would harm them in any way. Right. Everything is to help them also.

00:12:04 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:12:04 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:12:05 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 2:

Thank you for the call. I appreciate it.

00:12:08 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, no problem. I just think it's really relatable and helpful to hear a story from someone else where it It is difficult, and it's a huge decision for your family. But I think in the future, you're going to be really happy that you did it when you did instead of putting it off. But obviously, it's a decision for your family as a whole.

00:12:25 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 2:

So would you keep going then, Shannon? I mean, I know you said that you're kind of like a smother.

00:12:30 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 1:

Our realtor is a friend of mine, and she kind of knows our situation. And if something spectacular came up, it would absolutely be considered. But I'm not sitting here this morning on realtor.com.

00:12:42 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 2:

yeah is it de asia is it de asia hi god who is this de asia it is de asia okay de asia what's

00:12:51 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 4:

happening so i was a kid whose parents moved houses and i was about 12 when we made a big move and me and my sister were not necessarily thrilled about it but looking back at it i'm 24 now so They've been in that house for 12 years. It couldn't have been a better decision, honestly, for the family. It's a tough first move, but, you know, it could ultimately end up being, like, the best decision you go with, and it could just be something, a new adventure that you're looking into.

00:13:26 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:13:26 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:13:27 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 2:

A lot of people are saying move. They're in these calls. They're saying we're that. This texture is an interesting one. I can't talk. This is from 734. I can't talk, but I want to know the update on the M's on the wall.

00:13:37 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 1:

They are gone, but you want to know what's so funny? Who removed them? Me. Really? Explain that. I want to hear that story. I ruined some wall in the process, but that's okay. But where they were, there's still like the wall I'm now realizing is so dirty.

00:13:54 - 00:14:16 | Speaker 2:

It still says M. You can't get away. I can't get away. That was a big topic last week of the house. And then Wes contacted, or we called Wes, or Lydia called Wes. got Wes on the air and Wes said, well, you know, we still got M's all over the place. Yeah. So that got brought up last week. That was a good podcast to listen to.

00:14:16 - 00:14:19 | Speaker 1:

And being the first initial of my last name, by the way, if you're going M's, M's, I don't understand. Yeah.

00:14:20 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 2:

And married last name, which was, I think, the part that, because it wasn't so much your maiden last name that probably bothered Wes. Yeah. But now you can just say the M is for Mojo.

00:14:32 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. What do you think? I'm sure he would really love that.

00:14:35 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 2:

If you want, you can put the O-J-O at the end of it if you guys would like that. So, you know what? I think the thing with the house thing, too, is, and you and I had this conversation. I think that one of the things that...

00:14:47 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 1:

Thank you for talking to me. What is that noise? I don't know. All weekend, like, you were very helpful. There were so many people that were very helpful and reminding me, like, just pray. Just pray. Pray on it. Pray for God to open a door, close another, you know. And I don't...

00:15:00 - 00:15:10 | Speaker 5:

Don't do, that's not, I don't know. It's like, it sounds like we're getting attacked. I'm about to get attacked. Is that a pump or something? Can any, can you hear that Lydia? Yeah. It sounds like a motor.

00:15:13 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 4:

Oh, are you kidding me? We've got construction going on. DTE is like pumping. What are they doing out there? Is that an engine?

00:15:19 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 5:
