Yeah, I am blown away by how long it takes some people to get divorced. I and and this is coming from a personal place. Now, I if you've been listening to the show for a while, you know that I have been divorced for my God, I think it's been four years. I think it'll be four years next month, which is just so crazy. Does that blow you away? yeah yeah i mean and just so much has happened since then right yeah i mean for both myself

and my ex-husband yeah honestly you you should actually be be proud of the fact that you have

come a very long way since i think that's that's huge i think so too yeah it's it's definitely been a it's definitely been a journey um but and we were lucky because we were amicable through our divorce so our divorce happened actually pretty quickly and it didn't cost us a ton of money because we kind of did everything ourselves and without getting too much into detail because it's not my story to share but my my mom has been going through a divorce from my former stepdad for almost going on two years and I just cannot believe how many things like fall through the cracks there's no like accountability there the way that that it is allowed to be dragged out and i know that some of you are going two years that's nothing compared to what you know i've

personally how long did it take for you and your ex-husband to get divorced trying to think was it because it doesn't even have to be like over a year don't they Don't the courts make you have a certain amount of time?

And quite honestly, I wish we would have done a collaborative divorce. We could have because, like I said, we did everything ourselves. We kind of got some bad advice and ended up getting separate attorneys. But I think it took maybe five months.

Okay, so I, for some reason, had a misperception of this. I, for some reason, thought that the courts always made you.

They do if you have kids. they make you take like a they make you do like a smile program like a class but they make you do

you can't get divorced in like 90 days right it just doesn't happen that i don't know okay i don't

know i would have to ask all right so in your in this case it's been a two-year we're going on two years and like on you know it's so hard to talk about this when you don't want to like give many details but it it blows my mind that the county that they're they had you know they're going through this and it's just like I feel like something's sitting on a desk somewhere and it's it's not happening like there's no accountability like certain things are supposed to be signed certain things are supposed to you know happen and there's nobody that's following up going well you were supposed to do that but you didn't do that so it's just it's just laying there um

So I'm still going through the process, and next month it will be five years.

him but here in Canada too there's like a law that you have to be legally separated for a full year before you can even think about getting divorced

okay so that might be where I'm kind of getting it because I don't know if that's kind of a law here or if there's some kind of a thing where it has to take a certain amount of time that's crazy voice this guy is Kelly here because Kelly how long has the divorce been taken

well it's been two and a half years for me And honestly, I'm slightly dragging it. I'm doing the same thing. Signatures aren't being sent. And it's a slow process because I'm kind of trying to decide if I want to save it.

Oh, so did you ask for the divorce?

I did.

Okay, so it's hard to hear you because the voice of the guy's machine is tough with that beautiful voice of yours. But you said it's taken over two years right now?

It's been two and a half years.

Okay, and you're the one that's dragging it on because you still think that there's hope.

Yes. I've recently kind of selfishly missed my family, and we were pushing it hard, and now I'm kind of like, oh, my lawyer's out of town. He has to do these signatures. We have to go to court again. Kind of trying to decide if I want to win my husband back.

Girl, that is not a cheap process to be going back and forth in your head about and dragging it out.

I think we lost her. That was the point. That was the point where the reality check comes into play and you're like, all right, I'm going to hang up the phone. Adam, what's up?

Yeah, my divorce was just over 13 months. The ex-wife had actually gotten pregnant by another man. I had found out, filed for divorce, but the judge had made us get a paternity test, and then she prolonged that, and then she also prolonged paying for the paternity test until the court forced her to pay for it, and she just kept dragging it on and on and on.

Wow. And what ended up happening at the end with the paternity test?

Well, the kid wasn't mine. I had a vasectomy. But the courts were like, well, you were still living together when the kid could have been deceived.

That's crazy. I guess it could be that one slips through or whatever, or they don't know who to believe. But that's wild that it's still a short divorce compared to the five-year Canadian caller they called us up, and then this last caller, the two-year one. Autumn, you are still going through it right now, and your divorce has been well over a year. Why is the process still taking

so long? I think part of it is because the baby daddy didn't want to get divorced. So my cousin and I had to do a stakeout. We staked out in front of his job and had to tape the work, tape the paperwork on his window and just wait for him to leave out of work and finally say,

force him to sign it is it because yes he's still in love and he doesn't want to lose you

i don't know what his problem is because like bro you're the one cheating my whole nine-year marriage so just leave me wow yeah wow well that's uh i can't imagine how much longer it's going to be plus we have two little kids too so yeah yeah yeah that's brutal when you're dealing

with that and then also the the money situation like spending money and knowing exactly you know

how to account for everything probably becomes a pain so that was it too so i spent um like eight times i had to spend the processor clerk's fee just to get him like served yeah and then on top of that you already know like the divorce lawyer is like eight thousand dollars so it's like you're

just really prolonging it holy cow um you think that that's long you want to hear something
