What are you guys doing? Come on. I got to be with my family this holiday season. I don't need any of this. It's awesome. Oh, my God. Hold on a second. Oh, I got an arrest. They just handed me an arrest warrant. It says arrest warrant. Mojo, conspiring to commit breaking and entering crime. Oh, no. Oh, no. I'm Officer Nick Cotts home. Oh, my God. This is amazing. Oh, my God. Hold on a second. Hold on. Wait a second. Hold on.

Wait a second. Are these Warren police officers? You're out of your jurisdiction. You can't come here. This is Detroit. You know the Detroit Police Department would not hear. Are you the spokesperson right here? Come on up here. Sit in that chair. Get in front of that microphone. This is where I actually interrogate you.

The mean mugging coming in did genuinely give me a panic attack.

You guys scared the crap out of me. First off, what is your name?

My name is Lieutenant Gajewski with the Warren Police Department.

Lieutenant. I need to get out of jail free card. I drive through Warren off and I need to know if I can actually every occasionally be over like seven miles an hour. Is that okay?

I'm afraid to give him my plate. We did a break and entering Christmas wish for Nick Cott and Holly and the great family over there and Jack. Actually, to be quite honest with you, I get teared up when I think about this. that is our most viewed of all of the wishes that we had and holly was by far um so appreciative of

of that and i want to remind listeners too this is this is nick who injured was injured in a hunting accident yeah if you remember that wish from a couple of days ago he's a great cop we had

we had worn uh you know residents that were contacting us saying that they came in contact with him uh through his time there and then his wife holly is a teacher over in waterford so many people that were touched by her so tell what's happening with you guys what's going how are you guys holding up with with this this has got to be tough for you guys you know it is tough

um but because of you and all your efforts this is why we're here we're here to say thank you oh um what you guys did was over the moon you guys went above and beyond from one of our own as police officers we're really good at responding to other people's emergencies but when it's one of our own it's a gut check and I was watching the Facebook stream of the event at Nick's house when you guys did the B&E by the way he's a cop you can call us an event

right exactly and a B&E and a B&E exactly you guys got the warrants the break in and end the warrants are still valid

and uh i i can tell you everybody in this room everybody in the station uh there was hardly a dry eye um what you guys did for jack was amazing uh the presents were over the top but the heart and soul of it was the wheelchair lift that uh there were some kleenex going around the station i'll be the first one to say it so that's why we're here we're here to say thank you um it's something that meant the world to us and it just around the holidays it added some extra special brought the mayor here because it was so where's the mayor the mayor

the simpsons mayor is gone i love it that's awesome that's great great to see what mayor Welcome to our show. What is your name, Mayor? I'm sorry. Nice to see you. Congratulations to you. That was actually very, you know, incredible. When the cops like you, Mayor, that's actually pretty good, right? I mean, I live in West Bloomfield, and sometimes you go, oh, do you like your, you know, supervisor and all the rest of that stuff, but that's pretty cool. I know that you guys, we got to pray for Nick. We got to pray for a miracle for this guy.

Absolutely.

And you know what kind of an officer he is, what kind of a cop he is. He's a tough son of a bitch, isn't he?

He is. You know, Nick hired in five months after me. We spent a lot of nights in the squad car together. And he's currently, you know, still in critical condition in an out-of-state hospital fighting. His wife has not left his side. And his Warren PD family hasn't left his side either. And we don't plan on it. As you can see here, everybody who came here today, in some way or another, worked with Nick. We knew Officer Nick, but we knew Nick, the husband and the father. And, again, that's what makes what you guys did so extra special, and that's why we got to come here complete with arrest warrants and some traditional cop food courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts.

But I want to know what judge signed off on this.

It'll be explained to court.

Holly and Nick, they're away battling right now. They're at the best of the best hospitals with the best of the best treatment. Jack is with Grandma and Grandpa. and just keep these guys in your prayers. We hope for a miracle, and I will tell you that there's chances that there is going to be a miracle. I mean, we had docs that told us that there's very good chances, and obviously what we did is a small portion of this. We wish that we never had to do this, but we love those that serve and protect us, man, and you guys put your lives on the line every single day. So thank you for what you're doing this morning. Thanks for coming in studio. Merry Christmas to you. be safe over these next few weeks. I know it gets crazy out there, doesn't it? It does.

This is a special time of year in more ways than one.

Don't give us a breathalyzer test now because we've been drinking since the throwback throwdown this morning. The mayor's holding something. What do you got here? What is that? Hold on a second. Hold on, mayor. Right up to the microphone.

As mayor, it is my privilege to offer a proclamation. And so this morning, I've brought a mayoral proclamation honoring Mojo in the mornings, breaking and entering. Whereas this holiday season is a time for joy, compassion, and during this time that we come together to support those in need and spread cheer throughout our community. And Mojo in the Morning, through their annual breaking and entering Christmas wish event, has shown immense generosity and kindness by supporting families in need during the holiday, collecting donations from the local community to bring joy and relief to those experiencing misfortune. Whereas Officer Nick Cott, a dedicated and beloved member of our police force recently faced a devastating accident while hunting with his family resulting in critical injuries that have led to a long and arduous recovery journey where nick's wife holly remains steadfast by his side at an out-of-state hospital while their son jack must spend the holidays separated from his parents a heart-wrenching situation for any family particularly during this time of year and whereas this year mojo in the morning has chosen to grant the breaking and entering christmas wish to nitcott and his family recognizing a profound challenge they are facing and offering the warmth and love of a community during this difficult time therefore i laurie m stone mayor of the city of warn do hereby proclaim our deepest gratitude and appreciation to mojo in the morning its team and all of the participating community members for their extraordinary dedication to making this holiday season brighter for those in need. We extend our heartfelt thanks to this team and the entire community for the generous support of Officer Nick Catt and his family. Let it be known that their selfless efforts...

and the spirit of giving they embody are the inspiration to all of us, fostering a sense of togetherness and reinforcing the values of generosity and goodwill in our city.

Yeah. It's good people. He's going to ask you on your way up for the key to the city, just so you know, because he's never gotten one. So I'm just preparing you for that ask as you make your way.

Can I tell you, we did a town tour back in the day. Back in the day. Oh, at City Hall. And your predecessor was there. Wasn't it? And he thought I was trying to get him to commit a crime, and he thought I was wired by local forers. No, what was the guy's name from Channel 7? The big fat reporter. Steve whatever the heck his name was. Well, I'm not saying a name now. He goes, are you wired? He asked me if I was wired. I go, I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. But no, but I would be if I needed to be. We love you guys so much. Warren's a great place. Nick Codd is an amazing hero, man. That guy's a freaking hero. And there's nothing better than Miles over here holding some donuts. Hell yes. By the way, I got to tell you, I wanted to be a cop so bad. Like, I'm a wanna cop. Like, I am, seriously. And that Mike Bouchard put me on his, like, counsel thing that he does. And it gives me a badge. All I want to do is have a badge.

Have you ever done a ride-along?

I've done it. I'd love to do it with Warren. I would love to do it. We should all do it as a show.

I would love that.

That would be fun. Actually, it would be a great Christmas wish if we did a ride-along and granted wishes for residents that were neat and brought food to them. We should do that sometime.
