00:01:32 - 00:01:39 | Speaker 7:

Did any of you guys celebrate Valentine's Day yesterday? No. No? No. Sorry. Did anybody, honestly, did anybody celebrate Valentine's Day?

00:01:39 - 00:01:42 | Speaker 2:

I did. I mean, mostly with the kids. Not necessarily so much with Wes, but mostly with the kids.

00:01:42 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 5:

I walked in and our whole house was decorated with red hearts. I was like, oh, crap. Is this? I did that. I think she, this is a bigger deal to her than I thought it was going to be.

00:01:51 - 00:01:52 | Speaker 2:

Was she doing it for her son, though?

00:01:52 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 5:

Both. Yeah, both.

00:01:54 - 00:01:57 | Speaker 7:

What did you get, and what did you give?

00:01:57 - 00:02:08 | Speaker 5:

She gave me a really nice book and some chocolates, and then she was cooking me a steak dinner with the cupcakes that I gorged on way before dessert.

00:02:08 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 7:

Did you tell her that it wasn't steak in a B-Day?

00:02:12 - 00:02:18 | Speaker 5:

That's coming up when? I did not bring that up. That's coming up right now. That's a month after Valentine's Day. Is it a month after Valentine's Day? March 14th.

00:02:18 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 7:

March 14th, yes. So make sure you put that in your calendar, guys, and girls. Put that in the calendar.

00:02:24 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 5:

And let me know how that goes when you suggest it. Especially if you were one of those guys I saw at CVS yesterday at 4 p.m. buying the $20 last strand of horrible bouquets that were left on Valentine's Day on your way home from work.

00:02:37 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 7:

Do you want to hear the irony of my relationship with my wife? Yes. We both bought the same card for each other.

00:02:42 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 2:

Did you really?

00:02:43 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 7:

I love that. We both actually bought the same exact card yesterday, which was actually pretty amusing. You are soulmates. Seriously. That's it. Or we shop at the same store, and that was the easiest. I said to Chelsea, I go, and actually it was Luke's card that he gave her, but I bought two cards for Luke and I, and we chose each other's cards. But it was funny because I said, yeah, their selection wasn't that good this year, and she looked at me with a funny eye like, their selection wasn't good this year? That's why we both gave each other the same card? All right, so Mojo in the Morning Show. So yesterday was a day where sometimes people will actually try to do the whole proposal thing. And actually, a lot of people get married on Valentine's Day, which honestly, I think both are kind of interesting when people either get married on Valentine's Day as their day or the proposal. But some people actually put ultimatums to it.

00:03:35 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. And I know yesterday was a big day that a lot of women specifically were waiting for a proposal for a ring. I thought this was so cute. I mean, the weather's been so nice. So I've been biking with the kids to the little park in our neighborhood and I met this new dad who just moved in at the park and we were chit-chatting and Lucy knows his daughter and so I had mentioned that I had just gotten engaged and he said, oh yeah, I was just given an ultimatum to propose. And so in my head, I'm thinking, oh man, you know, his girlfriend really, really wants to get married. Well, after talking with him for a little bit longer, I realized it was his girlfriend's second grade daughter who was giving him the ultimatum. The little girl that he was with at the park, she wanted him to be her stepdad so bad that she's been giving him the ultimatum. And she wanted him to propose yesterday, which he said, I'm not doing it on Valentine's Day. But I do. I love hearing about people who make ultimatums. Does it work out for you? Now, that's pressure, by the way. Was it the end of your relationship? In this situation, and that's what he said.

00:04:47 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 7:

That's more pressure than having her give the ultimatum, having her kids say, I want you to be my step-parent.

00:04:52 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 2:

Her only child, her sweet daughter. And apparently she's come up with all of these ideas for him to do it. And he's like, sh**.

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 3:

She sees dollar signs.

00:05:01 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 2:

All right. Anyone listening who has ever been given or gave. Yeah. I was going to say or gived. Has ever given or been given an ultimatum for get married or I'm out. I want to hear from you. I want to hear what your story is all about. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548.

00:05:23 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 3:

Because does that put the pressure on or does that just give you a bad taste in your mouth if you're given an ultimatum to do it?

00:05:28 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 2:

That's what I wonder, because some people might say, oh, well, that's a doomed relationship. But maybe sometimes some people need a little cattle prodding.

00:05:37 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 1:

A push, yeah. I think it depends on the situation. It could be good or bad.

00:05:40 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. We're good in what case?

00:05:43 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 1:

Well, I think it's good when Shannon's story, when you hear that cute little kid putting the ultimatum out because she just loves that guy so much she wants him to be a stepdaddy. Yeah.

00:05:51 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

And then bad because now you feel pressure the rest of your life?

00:05:54 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 1:

No, bad in different situations where you might push the guy away if he's not ready, or maybe you're getting engaged for the wrong reasons.

00:06:03 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 6:

Jesus what? Why'd you say that? Tommy, what happened yesterday? What was that? Sorry, I shouldn't have eaten that cheese danish.

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 2:

That's what she said. Tommy, what happened yesterday?

00:06:17 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 6:

There was a couple. I was at the light in front of LCA, and he was getting down on one knee, and I said, I just can't stand for this. So I rolled my window down, and I said, don't do it.

00:06:27 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

You did not.

00:06:30 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 6:

I did. I did. I had to. I'm a philanthropist. I like to help. That's right.

00:06:36 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 2:

You're just doing good in this world. That's exactly. Yeah. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Emmanuel?

00:06:45 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. How's it going?

00:06:46 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 2:

How you doing, buddy? You were given the ultimatum?

00:06:50 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 5:

Yes. Yes, I was given the ultimatum probably about seven, almost eight years ago to propose. And it did not work out. I should have known that.

00:07:00 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 2:

Ah, the relationship didn't work out?

00:07:02 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 5:

No, it did not.

00:07:04 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 2:

So did you feel really bad pressure to come through and do this whole thing, and you just weren't ready? Is that why it didn't work out?

00:07:13 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, I completely wasn't ready. I kind of had things planned on my own terms, but she became impatient and pretty much gave me an ultimatum.

00:07:24 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

Oh, man. That's rough. How about you, Becca? How are you doing? You gave the ultimatum?

00:07:30 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 4:

I did because our anniversary of eight years will be up on the 20th of this month. Well, he bought me a ring last week, but he still didn't ask me.

00:07:40 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my gosh. Wait, how do you know he bought you a ring then?

00:07:43 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 4:

Because I went with him. I picked it out.

00:07:45 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

Oh. Oh.

00:07:47 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 1:

So.

00:07:48 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 4:

I have the ring.

00:07:49 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 1:

Don't you want to be surprised?

00:07:52 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 4:

Well, he's not going to ask me. He just bought me the ring. Wait, so are you wearing it? Oh, did he give it to you? Yeah, I wear it. I don't wear it on my left hand because then people ask too many questions. Okay, wait.

00:08:03 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 1:

That was your mistake then. If you accepted the ring and started wearing it, you gave him an out to not feel pressure to ask you.

00:08:09 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 2:

He bought you a.

00:08:10 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 1:

A shut up ring.

00:08:11 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:08:12 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

That's what it's called.

00:08:14 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my gosh. Wow. So what are you going to do? Are you going to – is this buying him some time, or do you have, like, a set time that you're going to, you know, call it quits if he doesn't do it?

00:08:25 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 4:

I think it bought him some time.

00:08:28 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 2:

She likes the ring too much. Ellen, what's going on?

00:08:33 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 4:

Hi. So I was calling because I gave my husband an ultimatum to either agree to have a baby or I would stop taking my birth control.

00:08:42 - 00:08:43 | Unknown:

Oh, my God.

00:08:43 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 2:

By the way, these are healthy relationships. I just want you to know that.

00:08:46 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 4:

What did he pick? Oh, we had a baby. We actually have two now.

00:08:51 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Because you stopped taking your birth control.

00:08:53 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 4:

I did not, no. So we've been together since 2008. We got married in 2015. Okay. And I told him in 2016 that if he doesn't agree, the beginning of 2017, I would stop taking my birth control. Or no, in 2015, I'm sorry. And then on Christmas of 2015 He gave me a t-shirt that said Let's have a baby on it

00:09:16 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 2:

But you guys are not married

00:09:18 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 4:

We are Yeah we got married in 2015

00:09:21 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 2:

You finally got married Okay

00:09:22 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 4:

Interesting

00:09:24 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 2:

He's like I'd rather just get pregnant Let's just do that Sarah you gave the ultimatum And the relationship didn't work out

00:09:35 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah Yeah, so we were together seven years. We had two kids. We were pregnant with our third child, and I said, you either need to do this or we need to separate because this is non-negotiable for my life. And then he actually, he did propose. We ended up splitting when I was five months pregnant.

00:10:00 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 6:

four months before we were supposed to be married. We had already put down a lot of deposits because nothing felt genuine. Everything felt forced. Like it was just something that he had to do. It didn't feel like I was loved. So we split, and it's actually for the best. I am recently newly married, so it did work out for me. The right person was waiting there all the time. I just wasn't with them. So I feel like if you have to get to the point where you do it, The ultimatum, nothing from that point is genuine.

00:10:32 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 4:

The right person, was he around at the time that you were with this guy?

00:10:36 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 6:

No.

00:10:36 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. All right, so no ultimatums. Bad thing.

00:10:41 - 00:10:42 | Unknown:

Right.

00:10:42 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. All right.

00:10:44 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 5:

The problem is it's not going to feel genuine. Even if he does propose, then you feel like, does he really want to propose? It's a pity proposal. You need him to do it.

00:10:54 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 4:
