dkng.co slash audio. Mojo in the morning. We got great neighbors. I know we do and I love ours but I don't necessarily know if these are things that you should ask another neighbor to do but strange asks if you're a neighbor. Megan, what's up? So this guy I know, he was in a really,

00:02:54 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 3:

really bad car accident, like about a week or two ago, and his back is super messed up. And he, unfortunately, a lot of times with back injuries, you kind of have to wait a long time before people take you seriously. So he's going through all these doctor's appointments, and it just it's a pain in the total behind and he's struggling well he got stuck on the floor in his living room because he was laying down trying to relieve some of his back pain and he couldn't get back up oh god which is hysterical i uh laugh in the face of his pain uh but he needed help obviously to get up off of the floor and one of his neighbors had a key to his place like as an in case of emergency if he ever got locked out it's somebody that he kind of knows but i don't know if he is super close to he had to call that person ask them to come over let themselves in and help pick him up off of the floor oh my gosh that is so sweet thank god for that neighbor amen exactly but also i think i would rather die on that floor than call anybody to come over to

00:04:02 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 7:

pick me up but what would you do if you got a call from a neighbor that asked you to pick them up

00:04:07 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 3:

Oh, I would absolutely go and help. But for me, this would become a situation where I'm like, yes, I do need life alert on a daily basis now.

00:04:16 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 7:

So if this was you where you were laying on the floor, your decomposed body would be there weeks or months or years later.

00:04:25 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 3:

Absolutely half eaten by my dog. And that's how I want it to be because I would rather do that than ask for help.

00:04:31 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 7:

You know what's funny about this is I think of my neighbors like Jen across the street from us. She is a teacher, a divorced mom, very, very nice. She is always great at helping us out anytime we need help with anything. Letting the dogs out. Like if I have a late day and Chelsea's not able to get home to let the dogs out.

00:04:51 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:04:52 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

But I also get occasionally, and Chelsea gets it more than I do, a call from her to the fact that there's a lot of packages.

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 5:

on the front doorstep you know amazon stuff and she'll say are you guys out of town and i feel judged because we're not out of town at the time that that happened they just all came in one day just all there at the same time yeah she's like she brings our packages in for us all the time

00:05:13 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 6:

she's so sweet when that happens i almost had to call my neighbor lisa across the street who thankfully is a friend of mine this was a couple of months ago like before the holiday but i got stuck in a dress that i had been wearing and it wasn't that i couldn't unzip or unbutton it it It was literally just so tight around my armpits that I had gotten it over my body, but I couldn't get the rest of it off. And I thought, I'm going to have to call. And it was a week I didn't have the kids, so there was nobody at my house. And I thought, I'm going to have to call Elise to come over and caught me out of this damn dress. Thankfully, I ended up just ripping it and getting out of it.

00:05:50 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 5:

Okay, with that said, is there any listeners that have ever had to call their neighbors to have them come over and help them get out of Spanx?

00:05:59 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 2:

Again, I think I'd rather die.

00:06:01 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 5:

Would you?

00:06:04 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 2:

I've woken up in Spanx that I was still wearing from the night before, and I thought I had died. I woke up and I couldn't breathe.

00:06:11 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 5:

Mike had his neighbor, remember, the other day, we talked about it, say that he could borrow his vacuum to vacuum the lawn, which was kind of an interesting thing.

00:06:19 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 1:

There was that one time, too, I was on the roof doing something. I don't remember what I was doing. I was fixing gutters or looking in gutters or trying to get leaves out of the gutter, and I slipped, and I started sliding down the roof, and I thought I was going to fall off the roof. And I'm like, this is it. I don't know what I'm going to do if I fall off the roof. There was nobody at the house. It was just me. I could just yell and be like, I'm in pain. But at that point, I'd be so embarrassed from falling off the roof, I think I would just lay there. I don't think I'd call anybody.

00:06:43 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 5:

If you get on a ladder, do you wait until Allie is home with the kids to do it? I do now.

00:06:50 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 1:

I didn't before.

00:06:51 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, because I have had to change a couple of batteries and, like, ring cams and stuff. And I don't do it when I know that, like, somebody in my house is not home. Because I do have that fear that I'm going to, like, fall and be on the front, you know, driveway. And my kids are going to be coming home or my wife's going to be coming home. All right, Mojo in the morning. What is the strangest ask that a neighbor has ever asked you or you had to ever ask a neighbor? Julie, how you doing?

00:07:20 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 3:

Doing good. How about you?

00:07:21 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 5:

Good. Did they ask you, or did you have to ask them?

00:07:25 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 3:

No, they asked us. So you know how you go to neighbors sometimes, and they'll, you know, do you have a, what's the thing, you know, a cup of sugar or a couple of eggs or something? Well, our neighbors had recently had their home broken into, and their entire collection of porn had been stolen. And they actually came over and asked if we had any porn movies they could borrow No way Stop it Yeah, yeah Yep, they did But keep in mind, these same neighbors, I think they are swingers Because when we first moved in, they introduced themselves He was wearing silk boxers and she was wearing a camisole set And they were in their backyard and introduced themselves to us

00:08:11 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 5:

Do you have the belief that that was their way of trying to flirt with you by asking you that, maybe?

00:08:17 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah. Yeah, I mean, from the introduction and then, you know, asking them to borrow porn. Oh, my God. Yeah, they're quite odd.

00:08:27 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 5:

Emily, a little different than the porn. Did you have to call for a neighbor? What was the story? Emily, is this you?

00:08:37 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, this is me.

00:08:38 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 5:

How are you doing, Emily? What's going on?

00:08:39 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 4:

I'm good. So I didn't have anybody call for me or a call for anybody else. I actually have a comment for Megan and anybody else that's listening. If you guys ever find yourself in a position where you have fallen or, you know, you can't get up from something, you can get a hold of your local fire department prior to. Almost every fire department has a lift assist. They'll give you a phone number, and you guys can call. Some are free, some are not, so make sure you find out how to find out.

00:09:09 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 6:

What if I can't get out of a dress? Yeah, what about that? I'm not calling the fire department. No, no, no, no, no. Honestly.

00:09:14 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 2:

I didn't know that they would come for, like, citizen's help. We should all be calling the fire department. Have you ever seen an unattractive fire department? No. No, you haven't. You can come over and help me out on my Spanx.

00:09:25 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 4:

Come on, boys. Let's go. I used to work in Birmingham at, like, an old folks' home. And we would often have to call up just to come help us move a patient. You know, if they've fallen, they'll quickly check them out, make sure they're okay. Yeah. And then get them back on.

00:09:41 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 5:

Would you fix your hair and your makeup before they came to the, and make sure you looked good? Lisa, what's up? Good morning, Mojo. It's Lisa. What's up, Lisa?

00:09:52 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 6:

Hi, Lisa.

00:09:53 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

What's going on? We're talking about the neighbors and the strange asks that they will have you, you know, help them with.

00:10:00 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 4:

It was my strange ask for my 20-year reunion. I had a little black dress with a button in the center of my back that I could not reach. My roommate put it on me. I was great, came home. She wasn't home. I had to go to the neighbors, who I didn't know, after midnight and say, could you undo my dress? And it was two guys standing there. I was like, it couldn't get anywhere.

00:10:23 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 2:

Could you imagine what was going through their head at that moment, too? Like their neighbor comes over, hey, can you help me out of this dress? real quick.

00:10:32 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 3:

Wait, are you thinking that they're thinking that it's a pickup line or something, Mike?

00:10:35 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 2:

What would you think? If you were single with a buddy, living in with a buddy or whatever, and this girl shows up and says, can you help me out of this dress? I'd be like, this is the neighborhood I want. Alex, what's up?

00:10:46 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 3:

Hi, how are you? We're doing good, Alex. We're talking about the strange asks that neighbors will sometimes call and be neighborly about.

00:10:56 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 6:

So my neighbor called me. I had her daughter at my house it was her birthday the daughter's birthday and the and she had gone out with her husband and sister she called and said oh my god you have to go across the street to my house don't tell my daughter but i think her cat died oh geez so i ran across the street and the cat was lying on her son's lap and he was crying and the cat was not breathing oh my god and he started crying and he said please can you save it and i gave it mouth to mouth oh and it did it did it revive and come

00:11:31 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 5:

back to life do we have a good ending with this it did not oh alex but i mean what a good person

00:11:37 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 3:

you are a good person i had its whiskers in my oh my god i just think that by the way i hope that they got you something for that did they buy you a gift or anything

00:11:51 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 6:

um i mean they're very good neighbors they do stuff for us all the time so it's all it's all a wash i'm not sure i i think i went over and above but i'm not sure that was amazing yeah cpr

00:12:04 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 3:

for the cat uh last call here voices guys sally sally we're talking about neighborly neighbors What's out?

00:12:14 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 1:

Hi. So a couple days ago, one of my neighbors came over and nicely knocked on a door at almost 3 o'clock in the morning and asked for a condo. Oh. Really? Desperation. Yes. It's very crazy. That's why I asked to be a racist guy because it was very recent. Did you bring condoms?

00:12:34 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 3:

Wow, that's an amazing thing to just knock on your neighbor's door at that time of the morning, let alone to ask if they have condoms.

00:12:42 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 1:

Also have dress. Yeah. We stay in a part of Sterling Heights where, you know, the stores and the gas stations close very early. You have to kind of go out closer to the city if you get one. So I guess he just left a date and, you know, must have been in the middle of his due. And he came and he actually asked my fiancé, fiance, because him and my fiance kind of built a rapport over the past couple months. So he asked me, he was like, is your fiance home? And I was like, yeah. He was like, I know this is very weird, but I need a condom. Do you guys have one? I mean, props to being

00:13:15 - 00:13:24 | Speaker 3:

safe. Yeah. Shannon says, I have to grab this next one, and it's going to make your butt itch. What's up, Brianne? Hi.

00:13:25 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. Good morning, Brianne.

00:13:27 - 00:13:30 | Speaker 3:

We're talking about the interesting things that a neighbor will ask you to do for them.

00:13:31 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 5:

Yes, this one was very awkward. I had just moved in with my boyfriend, now husband, and our 93-year-old neighbor came over one day. My husband was not home, knocked on the door with her bio freeze in her hand, and asked me if I would rub it on her back and butt. It was extremely awkward, and I had no idea what to say, but I helped the poor lady. Oh, that's nice. Oh, my gosh.

00:13:56 - 00:14:01 | Speaker 3:

What a neighbor you are. That's so sweet. That's an ask right there.

00:14:01 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 5:

So what, did she actually, like, pull down her pants so you could do it? Well, she kind of just, like, walked in our house and, like, proceeded to, like, close the door and just kind of pulled her little skirt down. And she's like, yeah, right here. And I just rubbed it on. And she's like, all right, thanks. Have a great day. And walked out of the house and left.

00:14:21 - 00:14:24 | Speaker 3:

Where do you live? What neighborhood was this?

00:14:24 - 00:14:29 | Speaker 5:

Well, at that time, it was in Sterling Heights. See, that Sterling Heights is a common one. It is.

00:14:29 - 00:14:34 | Speaker 3:

If you want neighbors that will give you condoms or-

00:14:34 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 5:

Biofreeze on your booty.

00:14:35 - 00:14:40 | Speaker 3:

You go to Sterling Heights. By the way, isn't it known for the golden toilet?

00:14:41 - 00:14:44 | Speaker 5:

Yes, we've got that lovely golden butthole on.

00:14:44 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, the golden butthole there. Yeah. All right. Thank you for the call. If you haven't ever seen the golden butthole, it's a wonderful fixture along Hall Road there.

We've all seen the headlines. Florida man wrestles alligator in a tuxedo or Florida man sues after finding toenails in his ice cream.

00:16:02 - 00:16:07 | Speaker 3:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

00:16:07 - 00:16:08 | Speaker 5:

Hey, I'm Frankie P.

00:16:08 - 00:16:13 | Speaker 3:

And I'm Amelia. On our podcast, Hidden Florida and Beyond, we're going beneath the surface of the sunshine state.

00:16:13 - 00:16:21 | Speaker 4:

From interviews with real people who make Florida weird. I'm pulling it up. And as I'm pulling it up, I see an arm. Stop it. Come down.

00:16:22 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 3:

To deep dives into the stories you didn't know you were looking for. Hey, give it up for Mark Wahlberg on the podcast today. It's more than just a meme, it's a lifestyle.

I am a sample. Long before I'm measured, long before I'm named. Each piece of me has a message, a nuanced role. When you look beyond the average, when you see where I belong, you see why I behave the way I do. When you start looking at my details, when you include my context, I start telling you the truth. I always had a story. You just needed a way to hear it. Every sample has a story. Learn more at 10xgenomics.com.
