All right. It's Mojo in the Morning Show. So I didn't even realize, because I'm such a bad Catholic, I didn't even realize that I didn't give anything up for Lent this year. Usually I always have something that I give up for Lent. And it's honestly become one of those things where I give it up, and then after I give it up for about a week and a half or two weeks, I sit there and I realize how long Lent is. And it's kind of, you know what it is? It's, it's like, you know how people do sober October or they do dry January. You realize that Lent is a great way for you to do something that you can get healthier or at least more, you know, kind of centered with.

00:02:45 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 8:

Maybe it's good motivation because I feel like it's different outcome than like a resolution. Like you're not, you have an extra reason to stick with it.

00:02:52 - 00:03:33 | Speaker 7:

Well, with the resolution, the only person that you screw up for is you. This one you screw up for God, you know. So Mark, I ran into him in the hallway. Mark's our engineer. And every year the guy gives up booze. He gives up beer and wine and booze and all the rest of that stuff. And everybody always thinks that Mark just goes on a New Year's diet because he loses a crap load of weight. Like he gets to a point where his jeans are like hanging off of him. And I asked him if he gave it up. And he goes, yeah, I gave it up. It's now become like second nature to him that he does it all the time. Yeah, he's great with it. It's amazing. And Lydia, I know you're Catholic. Did you do anything? Are you giving up something for Lent?

00:03:33 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. So I gave up swearing. And for those of you who don't know, I really do cuss probably more than a truck driver. It's a terrible habit. And I feel like as a good Catholic, that doesn't make me a good Catholic whatsoever. So I decided I was going to give it up. But here's the catch. Every time I swear, I have to donate $1 to the church. And keep in mind, Lent started over probably a week ago. I think a week and a half ago. I owe the church now $65. That's so quick. Father John, if you're listening, I'm going to donate a lot of money. Wait, how much?

00:04:09 - 00:04:10 | Speaker 7:

How much are you putting in there?

00:04:10 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 3:

Well, so far, I have $65.

00:04:12 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 7:

So it's $1 every time?

00:04:14 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:04:14 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my gosh.

00:04:15 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 8:

And it's been a week. Not even. So you put the money thing on

00:04:19 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 3:

It's been six days

00:04:20 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 8:

It was Ash Wednesday

00:04:21 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 3:

No I started So Caldean start the previous Monday And you know

00:04:28 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 8:

Typically I mean obviously The money thing was an extra layer You put on to try and discipline yourself further Because Lent alone was not enough To get you to stop cursing

00:04:37 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 3:

Do you think Father John

00:04:40 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 7:

Wants you to swear more Because he's going to be getting more money In the collection basket

00:04:44 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 3:

I'm so embarrassed because I think Father John listens to the show.

00:04:47 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

Does he really?

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 3:

I'm pretty sure he does.

00:04:49 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 7:

Hello, Father.

00:04:49 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 8:

He better put some tips into the swear jar, too.

00:04:53 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 7:

You know, it's funny. I've tried to do swear jars before, or Chelsea's done the swear jars. I've never really done them. And I think that...

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 3:

The most that I ever got in the swear jar was like $120.

00:05:03 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 2:

You and Slim did one.

00:05:06 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 3:

Slim and I, yeah, both.

00:05:07 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 2:

Was it for Lent? What was that for? Or was that just because?

00:05:10 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

I think it might have been. It was definitely trying to become better people, you know what I mean? And to stop swearing. Yeah, I remember that big jar we had on here. Yeah. I had one, too, but it was the douchebag jar. Every time I said something that was a douchebag, yeah, I had to put something in the jar.

00:05:23 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 4:

Oh, my gosh. And you had enough money to go to Vegas, didn't you? I got a whole new outfit.

00:05:27 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 3:

i have to i have to be honest with you back in the day it was always for lent it was always you know giving up something that was food wise yes sweet because of on fridays you can't eat meat at all and i'm the worst when i'm as far as a catholic because i'll go out to eat with people and by the time that you know we get done eating i'm like oh my gosh i just ate like a you know chicken burrito or i just ate you know a steak or something like that or a burger and you forget about it and last week on ash wednesday because i was away and on vacation i didn't do the ashes i didn't go to a you know a church and go get ashes and i felt so guilty because they kept replaying that video clip of mark walberg talking about how he's really into catholicism and he's been a really good catholic and he had the ashes right on his forehead and i'm looking at him going

00:06:20 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 2:

oh crap yeah i didn't well it was the ice storm here so i think a lot of people didn't go get them last week and west went and got them and i said oh man i should you know i should go get some and he was like it's okay it's really icy out i'm on my way to your house anyway he goes i'll just bump my forehead against your forehead uh no non-transferable no they transfer i was

00:06:41 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 3:

like well already halfway through yeah um that was like Tourette's KP all of a sudden And she just randomly just all of a sudden just talked right in the middle of the thing. Oh, you were talking the same thing. I'm like, what is KP talking about with Wes's forehead? I kind of got thrown off there.

00:06:59 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 1:

In the studio. What's that? In the studio last week, and we were talking about how we weren't supposed to have meat. And then she literally had a chicken sandwich in her hand, and she was like, uh. Do you put it down? I was like, just finish it. No, I told her to finish it.

00:07:11 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 3:

So you don't actually stop? Do you then give up meat the next day? Because that was something that I would try to do.

00:07:17 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 1:

That's my thought. I'm always like, yeah, well, I'll just do it the next day.

00:07:23 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 3:

Are there any people doing very interesting Lenten, you know, what is it called, by the way? It's a Lenten sacrifice. Is that what it is? Yeah.

00:07:34 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 2:

I've heard people call it a promise.

00:07:35 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 3:

It's not a challenge, right?

00:07:37 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 4:

They don't call it a challenge. No, but that's how they were rebranding on the Today Show when they had Mark Wahlberg. They were like, Wahlberg's 40-day challenge. I'm like, oh, are we putting a celebrity endorsement on Lent now? Is that what that is? He has a, doesn't he have an endorsement for like a church app too?

00:07:49 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, he does. Does he really? Yeah, yeah. A hollow app?

00:07:53 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

What is that?

00:07:53 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 1:

What is the hollow app? Yeah, what is that? It's a prayer app.

00:07:56 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 3:

Really?

00:07:56 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 1:

I love it.

00:07:57 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 3:

Like hallowed be my name. Yeah. I got yelled at by our priest who said to me that the whole virtual thing needs to stop for me. Because I would use that as my, the reason why I hadn't been in church in so long was. You were just FaceTiming Jesus? And then I got to a point where I just started watching Joel Olsteen on Channel 4 in the morning. And I'm like, oh, well, you know, at least I did it. I kind of sat there and watched him in the entertaining church. I call that entertaining church.

00:08:30 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 1:

So here's a fun fact. Actually, on Fridays, my church has mass at 6.30 a.m. And since I can't be there because I'm here, I just let it play in the background in the producer's studio. Do you? Yeah. It's only during Lent.

00:08:41 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 4:

What does Father John have to say about that?

00:08:44 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 1:

I don't know. I should ask him.

00:08:45 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 4:

Does he see you log in? Is that why you do it?

00:08:47 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

Also, no. Oh, okay. They can't really see. I mean, it's on Facebook, so I don't know.

00:08:51 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 3:

Could you imagine if they took attendance on that and then they would actually in the middle of church go, you know, whatever, on the name of the Father's Son, hold on, Lydia is still there? And you had to like show up or say something?

00:09:09 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 4:

I wouldn't be surprised. They'd do it for our office Microsoft team meetings. I see he's not there. Yeah. This goes back a few years, but our friend Lindsay once, one Lent said she was giving up contacting her ex. She was like, he's a bad habit. I don't want to talk to him. So she actually said, like, for Lent, it was her reason to not text or call him.

00:09:30 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 3:

We had a listener that also gave up the mojo in the morning show. I was just going to say that.

00:09:34 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 2:

And remember, we would check in with her every once in a while and give her the lowdown. Like, okay, here are the big things that you missed this week. So she could at least kind of be caught up, you know.

00:09:42 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 3:

We surmised what, yeah, we surmised the show for her in, you know, a way that she would have more time because she said that she was, you know, kept her in the loop a little bit. She was spending a ton of time listening to us and she was trying to use more time to spend with family and friends.

00:09:57 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 4:

But we don't endorse that.

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

No, don't, please.

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 6:

Our ratings look like a lot of people have given us up for rent. What's going on, Jessica?

00:10:06 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 8:

Hi. I decided to do something different this year. I am decluttering, so I'm getting rid of one item a day in my house. Okay. I love that one. I would be on board for that one.

00:10:17 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. That's a really good idea. What are you doing? Maybe I'll come by and pick it up.

00:10:21 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 8:

I have two kids and a toddler, so the amount of toys in my house. Oh, yeah.

00:10:25 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 6:

The other thing, too, is this is a good one along with the decluttering. is stop, you know, doing so much like superficial things like purchasing stupid things like on Amazon and trying to, you know, get yourself a little bit more centered around, you know, it's kind of a budget. Content me with what you have. Yeah, be content. Yeah, I think that's the problem is I think that so many of us look towards things to try to make us feel better, and it doesn't really work. What's up? It's not Jill. It's Dill. Hi, Dill. Good morning. Good morning. What's going on?

00:11:01 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 7:

So for Lent, I don't really give up stuff. I always take on a personality trait or something. So like being more patient or something. And this year I'm giving up like excuses.

00:11:12 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 3:

That's a good one. That's very cool too. Accountability is great. I like that.

00:11:16 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. That is really. And it works out because by the end of it, you just kind of take it on and do it after Lent.

00:11:21 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, you've made it a habit.

00:11:22 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Yeah.

00:11:23 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 6:

So, so far you've done pretty decent with that?

00:11:26 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 7:

I skip the gym on Monday, but.

00:11:29 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 5:

Baby steps

00:11:32 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 6:

My favorite part of anything Is asking people how they've been doing so far And then they've got Not really that great But at least you're doing something What's up Sarah?

00:11:44 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 1:

Hi there, I gave up Amazon and online shopping

00:11:47 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 6:

Man, how much money do you think You're going to save during Lent?

00:11:51 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 1:

Oh my gosh, hundreds But I do have an Amazon return And I know once I have that money sitting in the account That's when it's going to get real

00:11:58 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 6:

Oh, yeah. But it will be there after, you know, Easter. You'll be able to use it.

00:12:04 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 1:

That's a good reminder. Good reminder. All right.

00:12:05 - 00:12:06 | Speaker 6:

Thank you for the call.
