00:01:46 - 00:02:21 | Unknown:

it's showtime We'll be right back.

00:02:21 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 6:

Oh, hold on a second. What just happened there? Why did that go off? Oh, there's a spooky thing. Maybe there's a ghost in our studio. Good morning. Happy Halloween. It's the Mojo in the Morning Show. Halloween edition. It's going to be extra scary today.

00:03:14 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 2:

Oh, good Lord. Feels like the devil's in the studio with us because it's so dang hot in here. I know. Yes.

00:03:21 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 6:

By the way, nice to know that only one person dressed up for the Halloween occasion today. I did. Look at my shirt. Where? Where did you dress up? Mom's shirt. Mom's shirt. Look at my earrings. Oh, okay.

00:03:32 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 2:

And I have a headband with bats in the car, but I can't wear it because of my headphones.

00:03:36 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 5:

But Shannon's an adult. She's not in costume. She just like, you know. Wearing the shirt. Is a cool, you know, celebratory person.

00:03:44 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 2:

I think it's so weird when people... He's butt hurt because he's the only one dressed up.

00:03:47 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 5:

No, I'm not butt hurt. Y'all know I love to stand alone. I think it's so weird to dress up to go to work.

00:03:52 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 6:

I do, too. I think it's so weird.

00:03:54 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 5:

What was weird about it, guys? It's not weird to randomly wear Pope costumes and dress as Taylor Swift, but it's weird on Halloween to come to work in the costumes. You're right. Just to be clear, I think that's weird, too. I appreciate your spirit. I really do.

00:04:07 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 6:

Kev, I'm sorry, but here's the story. I just got to tell you that you are a grown-ass adult right now. You are a grown man. You pay taxes. You shouldn't be dressing up and doing goofy stuff like that.

00:04:20 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 5:

Do you add 20 years to that statement when you look in the mirror and talk to yourself?

00:04:24 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 6:

Oh, look at you. I'm just asking. How do you know that I'm not dressed up? I am this morning. Who are you? Huh?

00:04:29 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 5:

Who are you?

00:04:30 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 6:

I am dressed up and identifying as Mojo from Mojo in the Morning. It's the one day I'm going to truly be myself. All right.

00:04:37 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 5:

Shout out to everybody out there who's an adult, who dresses up and enjoys Halloween in the spirit of the holidays.

00:04:43 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, shout out to you. Your bosses love you, guys. Happy Halloween, everybody. Happy Halloween, Brittany. How are you? Hi, good morning, my kids. Just wanted to say happy Halloween to you, Mojo. This is Coran. Say hi. Hi.

00:04:58 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

Happy Halloween.

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 3:

How are you, buddy? It's a girl. Her name's Coral. I know, but she can be my buddy. Oh, what a beautiful name. Hi. It's going to be for Halloween. It's going to be Sam from Trick or Treat.

00:05:13 - 00:05:14 | Unknown:

From Trick or Treat.

00:05:14 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 3:

Trick or Treat. I hope you get a ton of candy. Trick or Treat. She's going to be Sam from Trick or Treat, and she actually looks like the character, and it's so scary.

00:05:22 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God, Brittany. That's fantastic. Now, Brittany, is it a lot to get your kids ready for Halloween? Is it tough?

00:05:30 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 3:

So we actually have five kids that we have to get ready. And so we're going to Northville because they have the sirens that go off.

00:05:38 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 5:

It's the rich people, Northville. That's where you want to go. They got big candy bars there, right?

00:05:42 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 3:

Yes. I've been going there since I was eight years old, and it's a tradition. And they have donuts and cider at the sirens station, and they just go for two hours.

00:05:52 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 5:

The problem with going to the rich people neighborhood in Northville like that is the homes are so far apart. Like it's, you know, even though you get big candy, you got to like walk the estates, you know, you got to go back and forth to these homes.

00:06:06 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

I mean, we love it. We've been doing it forever. That's incredible.

00:06:10 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 5:

That's a good idea. By the way, have you ever encountered, because there's a lot of celebrities that live in Northville, a lot of Lions players. Yeah. They better be passing out jerseys. Yeah. I think they get some, you know, some coaches from the University of Michigan that are there. Any, any people open up the door and you're like, I know you.

00:06:28 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 3:

None that I know of But my favorite house is the Disney princess house Because they have actually like characters That literally look like from Disney

00:06:37 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 5:

Oh that's cool

00:06:38 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 3:

00:07:04 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

Happy Halloween. I just wanted to say, first, first time, long time.

00:07:08 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, Sarah's on the phone.

00:07:12 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 1:

I just wanted to say, hey, Kev, don't worry. I'm 46, and I'm dressed up at work today as well. And at noon, at lunchtime, we're going to be trick-or-treating in the building.

00:07:20 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 5:

Damn right, Sarah. What are you?

00:07:23 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 1:

I'm sorry?

00:07:23 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 5:

What are you?

00:07:25 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 1:

I'm dressed as Taylor Swift because it's the costume I wore to her concert last year.

00:07:29 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 5:

Wait, Kevin backhanded you in there. He didn't catch that one earlier. It's okay if she does it. Happy Halloween to you, and have a fantastic day today. I hope you get all the candy that you want.

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 1:

Thanks. You guys as well.

00:07:45 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 5:

Take care of yourself. Tammy, what's happening?

00:07:49 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Mojo. First time, long time. Hey there. Tammy's on the phone. I just wanted to call and support Kev. Come on now. I'm a grown woman, over 50 years old, and I am dressed up in costume for work.

00:08:07 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 5:

That's right, Tammy. What are we wearing?

00:08:10 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 4:

Yay, a skeleton.

00:08:12 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 5:

All right. Wait, hold on. Are we getting to see everything today because you're a skeleton?

00:08:16 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 4:

Oh, they don't want to see that. I'm a big girl.

00:08:18 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 5:

No, no. Come on. We do. We love you.

00:08:21 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 4:

I love you guys, too. Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween.

00:08:26 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 5:

I like it, by the way. Kev does have a fan club. A lot of people are poo-pooing on us, Megan, for not being in a dress enough for Halloween. Maybe we need a costume. You know what? I got my Pope costume here. Maybe we can do confessions this morning. Can we do confessions this morning? I love it. Actually, I got a second Pope costume. Kev, will you be my altar boy? No. No?

00:08:47 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 4:

Come on.

00:08:49 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 2:

Come on. Yeah, but people who dress up.

00:08:51 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Come on.

00:08:53 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 2:

No. I take it back.

00:08:54 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 5:

he's weirder than them. Emily, what's going on? Hi.

00:08:58 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

So, happy Halloween. Happy Halloween. So, my 14-year-old son is going to stay the night with his friends tonight. They're going to go trick-or-treating. Last minute, he said, Mom, I need a costume. I was like, okay, you want to be something scary? He's like, yeah. I said, alright, no problem. Him and my husband go to Spirit Halloween to pick out a costume. I'm at work. My 14-year-old son texted me and says, Mom, I'm going to be a pimp. Oh, jeez. I said, oh my god. He goes to a Catholic school. Oh, my God. And this friend that they're going to spend the night at, the dad is a cop. Oh, God.

00:09:33 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 5:

He's getting better and better. That's awesome. Do you think he's going to be sent home from school today?

00:09:39 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 3:

I said you can't do it. I can't let you. I'm sorry. I can't let you.

00:09:43 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, leave it to his dad to go get him a pimp costume.

00:09:47 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:09:48 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 5:

That's classic. That's awesome. What's his name? Shout him out. Jordan. Jordan, and what school does he go to? I don't want to say. No, come on. Dude.

00:10:00 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 1:

We're from Toledo. He goes to Cardinal Stritch. Oh, you got money.

00:10:10 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 2:

I didn't say all that. Well, he is a pimp. He's my son.

00:10:15 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 1:

He's a pimp.

00:10:16 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 2:

That's all right.

00:10:17 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 1:

He wants to know tuition.

00:10:20 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 2:

We love you. Have a great day.

00:10:23 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 1:

Thanks, you guys. We love you guys. Appreciate you.

00:10:25 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 2:

All right, here's a quick question for you guys. Do you guys remember the house that gave out the worst candy when you were a kid growing up or when you were taking your kids out? Do you guys? What was the worst of the stuff that they would pass out?

00:10:39 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 4:

Pennies. Oh, okay. A bowl of pennies. Popcorn balls.

00:10:44 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 2:

Popcorn balls. Like homemade ones they would make, but would they at least wrap them up in like orange or black?

00:10:49 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 6:

I didn't mind those things. You weren't allowed to eat them?

00:10:52 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 3:

Well, because we knew the people, but. Yeah. It used to be a lady that passed out apples. Yeah. And then another lady that passed out pencils. He's like, why do I have these erasers in these pencils?

00:11:03 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 2:

My favorite was when I would take the kids trick-or-treating, we would go to Dr. Hirsch's house, and he was the orthodontist in the area, and he would give out candy, but he would give out his propaganda, his pamphlets to go to him so that you could get your braces done. Or he would have merch. He had merch made. He'd have water bottles with his orthodontic practice on there. You know, I'd be like, wait a second. That's just weighing my bag down. I don't want that stuff. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Just a quick little survey. The worst candy to give away for Halloween. Because there's nothing worse than when you go through the aisles of Kroger, Meijer, or if you're going to Costco or Sam's. And you see the assortment pack, and they got dum-dums in there. Dumb-dums are the worst. Dumb-dumbs are the free candy that they give you at a doctor's office, you know?

00:12:00 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 3:

You know what else sucks? Dots.

00:12:02 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 5:

Dots are terrible. Dots are trash, bro. Bottle caps, trash. The orange and black taffy, trash.

00:12:10 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 2:

Absolute worst. All right, it's Mojo in the Morning, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Text 95500 as we do the show today.

00:12:18 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 5:

If you get Almond Joys and your kids don't like them, drop them off at the radio station. The kids think those are the worst, Shannon. I know. I will gladly take them.

00:12:25 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 2:

What was it that got you? I got into it, too. Like, as an adult. Really? My dad used to love them so much, and I think it was the only candy we allowed in the house. So, to me, I started eating it going, oh, this isn't so bad. It's got chocolate with it. Yeah. Which one has the darker chocolate?

00:12:40 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 4:

I think that's Mounds.

00:12:41 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. Mounds. Yeah. Oh, man, Joy's got nuts. Mounds don't.

00:12:46 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 6:

Sometimes you feel like a nut.

00:12:47 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 2:

Sometimes you don't.

00:12:48 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 6:

Wait, is this a real song? Yeah.

00:12:51 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 3:

That was, like, a little, yeah.

00:12:53 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 6:

Dude, that's not what a real song got.

00:12:55 - 00:13:04 | Speaker 3:

That's not that he was freestyling. I wish candy corn tasted better. I love candy corn. Visually, it's amazing. But isn't that, you like that? I love it.

00:13:04 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 6:

Why is candy corn bad, candy pumpkins amazing? They're the same damn thing.

00:13:10 - 00:13:13 | Speaker 5:

But I agree with you. The pumpkins taste better, but they are the same.

00:13:13 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 6:

It's the filling versus that outer coating ratio. It's like Reese's pumpkins versus Reese's peanut butter cups. Yeah.

00:13:19 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 5:

No, I'm with you. I like both, but I do like the pumpkins better.

00:13:22 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 2:

810 says Necco wafers 989 says whoppers I like whoppers

00:13:31 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 3:

They're gonna break your tooth But they good

00:13:34 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 2:

913 says tootsie rolls Anything tootsie rolls A lot of people saying Shannon you're right The penny giver That was usually the old guy wasn't it

00:13:44 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 5:

It was the old ladies and they saved up all year

00:13:46 - 00:13:49 | Speaker 2:

Yeah those were kind of bad ones What's going on Chris hi

00:13:50 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 1:

Hi, good morning. Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween.

00:13:54 - 00:13:57 | Speaker 2:

What was the worst that you would get?

00:13:58 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 1:

So, you know, at churches, they give those, like, little three-by-five tracts that says, come to our church, this is what Jesus will do for you?

00:14:08 - 00:14:09 | Speaker 2:

Yes, yes.

00:14:09 - 00:14:18 | Speaker 1:

I got one of those one year. And I just remember feeling so disappointed. Praise the Lord. Bless you.

00:14:18 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 5:

Do you know what, Chris, you just unlocked a childhood memory for me when our catechism made us carry around cardboard UNICEF boxes for Halloween to get change donations. And the people would give us change but then not give us candy.

00:14:32 - 00:14:34 | Speaker 1:

It was the worst Halloween ever.

00:14:35 - 00:14:36 | Speaker 2:

What's up, Karen? Hi.

00:14:37 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 1:

Hi, good morning.

00:14:38 - 00:14:41 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. We're talking about the worst thing that you would get?

00:14:42 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 1:

Those little boxes of raisins. Oh. I've had a few of those.

00:14:47 - 00:14:54 | Speaker 2:

Those are bad. Those are so bad. Boxes of raisins. The person that gave you those just wanted you to get a good poop in.

00:14:55 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 3:

Because who buys those in bulk?

00:14:56 - 00:15:04 | Speaker 2:

I don't. You know what? Yeah. I don't think. What? What about circus? Peanuts. Somebody said Circus Peanuts. And then another person said Now and Laters. I used to love Now and Laters.

00:15:04 - 00:15:06 | Speaker 1:

Stop playing, bro.

00:15:06 - 00:15:29 | Speaker 2:

And Watch and Macaulay's. Oh, those were so good. Watch and Macaulay's were good. And then there was another candy that was made. It was kind of like in the assortment pack. I can't remember what the hell it was. The Mambo? It would be like the assortment pack and it would be Nestle Crunches, Snickers, Bars, Milky Ways, and then it was like the third one. Crackles? Was it Crackle or something like that?

00:15:30 - 00:15:35 | Speaker 1:

No, it's a red wrapper. No, 100 Grands. 100 Grands. I love 100 Grands. 100 Grands.

00:15:36 - 00:15:38 | Speaker 2:

Those were the best. What about yours, Mike? What was the worst one?

00:15:39 - 00:15:53 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. Banana Laffy Taffy. Yeah. I'm not a fave. I'm not a fave. Actually, I won't eat bananas because of that now. And, like, anywhere, like, in the office, somebody even has a banana, I'm like, ugh, get away from me.

00:15:54 - 00:15:57 | Speaker 2:

Just because of the Laffy Taffy. Jill, what's going on? Hi.

00:15:58 - 00:15:59 | Speaker 1:

Hi there.

00:15:59 - 00:16:01 | Speaker 2:

Hey, what was the thing that your mom would give away?

00:16:02 - 00:16:09 | Speaker 1:

She would give out one stick of Wrigley's gum, not a pack, but a stick, and a nickel. And a nickel. And a nickel.

00:16:10 - 00:16:14 | Speaker 2:

How much toilet paper did you have wrapped around your trees?

00:16:14 - 00:16:21 | Speaker 1:

I don't know. Kids would go, money, yay. And my mom thought it was the coolest thing, so she did it several years in a row.

00:16:21 - 00:16:24 | Speaker 2:

Your mom's probably rich, and she lives in a mansion in Florida right now.

00:16:25 - 00:16:26 | Speaker 1:

Now. Now.
