The little girl with the big story to tell.

00:02:00 - 00:02:26 | Speaker 4:

All right, Mojo in the Morning Show. So, Shannon and your fiancé went on a trip away this weekend, which was nice to see that you guys were going away. And I saw your pictures that you guys were posting, or that you were posting, I saw your social media. which by the way again you make me feel so bad i go on trips and i never take as many pictures as i see sometimes that you will post and you guys look so good together it's like a photo shoot

00:02:26 - 00:02:33 | Speaker 3:

of the vacation i mean look through i'm gonna look through these pictures thank you hold on i'm gonna

00:02:33 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 4:

look through i want to look through these pictures here right now and look at you guys look at these look at these guys they're like too good looking together you guys have like it's like photo shoots out in the desert for god's sakes i mean we were out in the desert it's unbelievable how the back

00:02:46 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 3:

the background is very pretty it is they get the mountains and stuff like that but thank you um

00:02:50 - 00:02:55 | Speaker 4:

something happened at uh on this trip though that made it very uncomfortable for you but more

00:02:55 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 3:

importantly for your fiance yeah so um i i go by the name shannon murphy on the show that really is my name but that's that's the name that was given to me when i was born so when i got married I took my now ex-husband's last name legally which I still have because I just never changed it when we got divorced I thought okay it matches the kids so I'm keeping it for that reason and I also just figured if I get married again someday which obviously I'm about to I'll change my name

00:03:27 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 4:

when that happens which I don't think is abnormal do you know am I weird I know I you don't I don't think we have kids right you're not gonna change her right away I'm interested I've been by the

00:03:36 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 3:

I don't have my legal last name, which is not Murphy. Let's, for the sake of this conversation, say it's Smith. Okay? Common last name.

00:03:43 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 4:

Okay. Which, by the way, before you tell this story, I have been wondering for the longest time, will you, when you get married, change your name again?

00:03:53 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 3:

I will.

00:03:54 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 4:

Okay, you are going to do that.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 3:

Yes, I will change my name.

00:03:56 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 4:

I was wondering about that.

00:03:57 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. And so I was the one, for this trip, Wes and I kind of split everything. So he bought flights, he paid for the rental car, so I was in charge of doing the hotel, which I am a points lover. Mojo, you know this. I put everything in my credit card and I pay it off so that I can get the points, and then I always redeem those points. I usually don't ever- Your Marriott Bonvoy? I love Marriott Bonvoy. Okay? I am such a Marriott Bonvoy whore, that is for sure. So I used points and some cash to rent the room. So everything is under my legal last name, which is Andrew's last name, okay, my ex-husband. So we get to this hotel, and right away, they start referring to Wes as Mr. Smith. His last name is not.

00:04:52 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 4:

Which, by the way, that was a bad choice of an alias last name, because now we all think that your son's name is Smith Smith.

00:04:58 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

Oh, well, I don't know.

00:05:00 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 1:

What's a more generic last name? No, whatever. I was just trying to think it's generic. Johnson. Johnson, sure, sure, Mr. Johnson. They're basically referring to him as if he's Andrew, okay? We go to the front desk. They say, oh, thank you so much, Mr. Johnson. They seat us at breakfast. Johnson party. He signs the bill. Thank you so much, Mr. Johnson. At the pool, if they bring us everything, they're like, oh, Mr. Johnson, hope you're having a great day. Poor Wes looks at me by the second day and he's like, Shan, we got to go. You got to go to the front desk and switch it because it is so weird and uncomfortable. He actually, at the pool one day, started keeping a tally on his leg with a pen that he was signing the bills with of how many times he had been called Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson.

00:05:47 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 5:

Johnson party of two.

00:05:49 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 1:

Johnson party two. I didn't even think about that when I booked the room that they were going to address both of us by that name. You know? It was really fun for him. Hold on, I'm calling up Wes.

00:06:02 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 4:

Good morning, this is Mr. Johnson.

00:06:07 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 5:

Wes, at what point

00:06:09 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 1:

at what point

00:06:11 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 5:

did it finally, you know, say, alright, enough is enough? How many times total was it?

00:06:16 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 4:

Eleven. Yeah, and he was keeping track. I had it on my leg. Let's keep an Italian.

00:06:23 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 3:

Hey, Wes, we've never met. I'm Kev, new guy.

00:06:26 - 00:06:26 | Unknown:

Hey, Kev.

00:06:27 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 3:

We're not going to address the time that you wake up. That's a whole other conversation. Yeah, we talked about that earlier this morning. Honestly, the first time that you heard them call you that last name, what was that gut reaction?

00:06:40 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 4:

This trip or a prior trip? This isn't the first?

00:06:44 - 00:06:45 | Unknown:

What?

00:06:45 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 4:

That is true. I should have learned. This is probably the first time as an engaged man. Yeah.

00:06:51 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 5:

Have you thought that maybe you should take the hotel next time and give her the airlines and all the rest of that stuff?

00:06:58 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, that was a bad move on my part.

00:07:01 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 5:

So I wanted to ask this question too because Shannon brought this up and I have not experienced this because before Chelsea and I got married, we had no money. Both of us were dirt poor. So with dating and going on vacations together, and you're dating in situations how do you guys decide upon who's paying for what like i've always wondered this with couples in your circumstances where both of you guys are married or dating professionals how do you guys say all right i got this we're gonna plan a trip like you guys sit at uh you know the table together and talk about this or what do you guys do no i think i

00:07:38 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 4:

think well i have the airline i'm a like delta points guy and shannon's the marriott bonvoy So that's easy in most cases. But we're generally pretty good about paying for meals back and forth. We just do that. Or we fight to do it, right? I'll find out later. Shannon Venmo's me or I Venmo her afterwards. It's just a constant battle. So we haven't really had that issue at all.

00:07:59 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 5:

Okay. All right, because I wondered about that, like, when you're planning for trips, like, how that works in asking for, you know, because I'm always uncomfortable even when we go out to dinner with other people when people are, like, wanting to split the check and stuff like that.

00:08:12 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 4:

Same.

00:08:13 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 5:

What's up? Kimberly wants to make a comment to you, Wes, because she can relate to what you guys had happen to you.

00:08:19 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

Hi, Kimberly.

00:08:20 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 2:

Hi. Yes, actually, my husband can relate to you guys.

00:08:27 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 5:

Your phone is bad. Say that again. You and your husband, what happened?

00:08:35 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 2:

I made the reservation, so everything was under my maiden name. and you get there and we're on the beach and they have our little area set up and it says, you know, welcome, Mr. and Mrs. And then my maiden name. And every time we have to say our last name for our room, you know, he would have to tell people, you know, my maiden name. So he can definitely relate to you guys.

00:08:57 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 5:

But at least that was your maiden name.

00:08:58 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

This was your honeymoon?

00:09:00 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 5:

Yes. At least that was your maiden name. Imagine in Wes's case where it's not...

00:09:05 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

It's my ex-husband's name. Yeah, that's a little bit worse.

00:09:10 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, that would make it very difficult to deal with. Although maybe this is the reason why, referring back to when you talked to us earlier this morning about Wes waking you up early in the morning.

00:09:23 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:

He was just meh. He was like, I'm kidding. This was my punishment.

00:09:27 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 5:

I'm making her wake up. Did you hear the listener that said that you're a sociopath for waking up better? No, I know.

00:09:32 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 4:

Thank you. This is a great morning. I also love the name Johnson. Thanks for that. Right. Mr. Johnson was a great transition. Thank you.

00:09:39 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 5:

Did you have as good a time as Shannon has? She's been talking about it this morning saying it was just an awesome vacation.

00:09:45 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 4:

It was an awesome vacation. It was very good.

00:09:48 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 1:

I told them that I made you stay outside every time I pooped.

00:09:51 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 5:

No, no. Hold on a second. Let's talk about that on the air. We didn't talk to the listeners about this. So Shannon told us off the air that when you... You guys, because you had, you know, one bathroom in your hotel, when she would go to the bathroom, where would she make you go?

00:10:07 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 3:

Outside. Like, outside. There was, like, a balcony.

00:10:10 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 5:

So you would have to go out on the balcony. How long would you have to be out there on the balcony if it was—

00:10:15 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

Until the smell went away. I don't know about the smell, because that was still there. But I was on a FaceTime with her sister for 20 minutes. And when I was done, I was like, I thought coast was clear, and surely it wasn't.

00:10:30 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 5:

Did that at all like make you like wonder a little bit? Like, you know, when do you guys get to poop in front of each other? When do you guys get to duty?

00:10:41 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 3:

Never. Not allowed.

00:10:43 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 5:

Really?

00:10:43 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 1:

Never. Oh, never. You've never pooped in front of Chelsea?

00:10:46 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. Well, no, but I poop in the bathroom and then, you know, we were away this weekend and we not only had us in the room, we had Luke in the room with us. So imagine the duty smells that she got from not only her husband but from her son.

00:11:01 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 3:

No, there's a whole strategy. When you're at a hotel, the boy gets the restaurant one, and then the girl gets the room. That's how that works for us.

00:11:08 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 5:

That actually is kind of true with that. This is new. Love you.

00:11:11 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:11:12 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 5:

All right, we'll talk to you later. You have a great day, and we promise that no more conversation that is negative in light to you, okay? Aw, nice try. I love you guys. Bye, Mr. Johnson. Love you, too. Bye, Mr. Johnson. Yeah. By the way, that would be so awkward, too, especially if it's like the romantic night dinner, like where you're having like, oh, this is a great dinner. This is awesome. I know after we get a little bit of dessert, we're going to get a little creme brulee, and then we're going to go to the room and have some fun to have that happen to you. Like that would basically would make a man limp at that particular moment, don't you think?

00:11:54 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 2:

I'm not a man, but sure. Yes, it would.

00:11:57 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 4:
