Can I just tell you, though, yesterday was one of those days where I had, like, happy things and, like, sad things and crazy things and all kinds of things. But it was one of those days where I got kind of emotional. I got a little emotional when I took my son voting. I don't know. I didn't realize it was going to be such an emotional thing that I would get emotional over the fact that he was going to be able to vote for the first time. I saw that you took your son. Did you get emotional going in with him, like, just to show him what was going on?

No, I didn't. It was more fun. Like, I wanted him. I think, like, I put in a group chat, voting should be fun. Like it should be, we're blessed to have the opportunity to do it and participate in something as beneficial and as important as this. So I like to have fun with it, had the ability to take my son. And I think the people who worked at our particular polling station have fun with Joe too. Like they made him feel like he was special.

Yeah.

They were joking with them, you know, clapping him like Shannon, you said they clapped, you know, for your kids when you brought them in. It was just fun.

What did you think of all the stickers that they have?

First off, when did they drop all these new stickers? Back in the day, it was like one sticker. And I get to the desk, and it's like five different stickers.

It's deers, it's cats. Like, what's going on? I loved my sticker. It had the Spirit of Detroit on it, which I think was really cool. Fire. I did not get to choose from the funny ones. I wanted the wolf ripping its shirt off.

So they just, wait, you had a wolf ripping its shirt off?

Yeah, there was a deer one, a wolf with a six-pack ripping its shirt off. Shannon's was also one of my favorites, where it was just a kid. It was like a kid writing. I voted yay. Yeah.

they did a contest uh last election i think it was where kids could submit things and then the kids got theirs put on a sticker which is pretty cool wow okay yeah so when i was taking joe though

this this is one of the interesting interesting things that happened um after i fill out my ballot and i put it in a large folder there is like a middle person before you actually put your ballot

in the scanner yeah like the person that grabs your little little piece of paper yeah yeah so

it was a woman who took my information and did something that i don't think i've ever maybe i just haven't paid attention before or never noticed it but she literally looked at who i

voted for and then shut my little envelope thing and gave it back to me you're not supposed to do that i didn't think you were supposed to do it it caught me so off guard she actually looked at your ballot she looked like i guess you had to hand it to her for do whatever she wanted to do she quickly popped it open snuck a peek shut it and then gave it back to me before she let me pick

out my stickers what was that to make sure you and i don't think she's right yeah but to make

sure you filled it out properly completed it i thought so but there were two pages to my ballot like they had like one page and it was so much information that they had to put it on another like separate paper right and she only looked at one so my mom's like nah she ain't really doing

it for that purpose let me tell you these michigan elections had me stressed out with your voting process when i tell you it took me like 45 minutes to vote after i had received my ballot was because it took so long for me to figure out how your ballots were or I guess how ballots worked. I like the computers because it tells you are you sure you don't want to vote on this or you miss somebody

or you have another selection. I like that computers. We got to go computers. It's crazy

to me that you don't have them. The computers

make voting or make counting the votes better too. Easy. Like we wouldn't have stupid situations where we're waiting weeks and stuff. Where people are getting in accidents and ballots are arriving later. Right. Or Or even, honestly, where you see people burning ballot boxes and stuff.

Well, it still prints it. You have to submit your printing ticket.

But it's filled out right.

So not only did I have a poll worker look at my ballot, but he also tried to touch it and put it in the machine for me. And I had to tell him... Also not allowed. Yeah. They should know that. And then it came out of the machine because he didn't even ask me what precinct I was in until after I submitted it. So it came out. And when it came out, he held it in his hands. And I was like, please don't touch my ballot. And he should have asked me that before I put it in the machine.

Yeah.

And then he blamed me for it. And I said, this is your job. You're here for a reason. And you should be directing me to where I should go.

So when I went inside, and first off, I believe there are three moments throughout the day that I absolutely try to stay away from. I think it's the super early vote. Like, as soon as you open, I think the polls are crazy there. The people who have to do it during lunchtime, and then the people who have to do it when they get off of work. So I was like, whatever I have to do, I don't want to be caught up in those three.

I went at lunchtime, and there was zero seconds wait.

So you were in and out. Zero.

I went right after we got down here.

Yeah, I went around maybe 2 o'clock, and it was a little bit of a wait, but where I went, I guess there's more precincts that were voting at this particular establishment than just one. So they had the ability to just ask you up front, which precinct are you going to, which made it easier.

That was mine at my school that I went to. They had two precincts, and I'm like, I have no idea. And then they had the map up there, and I'm like, I don't know where I live. I'm like, hold on, let me see if I get Waze or Google Maps on here.

Ours was at a school that's right by my house, but there were two precincts inside. And so we were walking up, and this very nice man was like, are you precinct two or precinct three? I'm like, I don't know. And he goes, okay, that driveway right there, do you turn left to go to your house, or do you turn right to go to your house? And I'm like, I turn left. He's like, okay, you're precinct two.

I'm like, thank you. When I lived in Ohio, the woman who always ran it lived across the street from me, so she would be like, we're this one. And I'm like, thank you, lady.

the the other thing that is uh interesting are the people that are standing out in front that are trying to get you to vote for whoever their person is that they're there for they give you like little pamphlets or little like business cards and stuff like hey vote for someone's and then you go inside and what do you do you throw them in a garbage i felt like such a waste they're handing out i would i would do is and i don't know if they can do this i would pass out starbucks gift cards like you get you can you can get me to vote for whoever you want me to vote for just give me a 25 starbucks gift card what's going on chad wants to uh to talk about this what's

going on chad oh computers they did it digitally there's uh they could hack it and then there'd be even more issues with the elections and votes than there already is you don't think though that

But, I mean, first off, you don't think that the way that the archaic way with those little Scantron things, that can get hacked, too?

I'm saying digitally voting, the way they do it now on paper, good. But if they were to go strictly all digital, 1,000%, someone could hack it.

I mean, think about this, though. We vote for American Idol, and we always have a winner. Nobody complains. I mean, maybe back in the day when it first started, who was it, Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson?

and they think that the ids is you got to identify who you are well i mean i can't even i can't go to a bar without showing an id exactly exactly i think that's ridiculous but i think if i'm not mistaken if you don't have an id you have to i think you have to fill out a provisional ballot now i'm a poll worker in in ohio so michigan laws could be different yeah i i watched the

person actually had to fill out a he had to fill out something and sign sign it you don't send in an idea when you vote by mail but you have to like identify you based on your address and you so you're voting when you register to vote and you register to vote you have to prove that you

actually live in that area right which is what i did when oh so when i moved to michigan i did that when i got my driver's license yeah so isn't that proving it and then it right but i could go in and i could say i'm megan mick yeah but if my signature doesn't match they won't take it

So yesterday, I'm voting, and I went to put my ballot in, and it didn't take it. and said something couldn't read so i put it in again still didn't take it went for the third time and finally a gentleman came over and he says ma'am i needed to put both hands on each side of the ballot and put it in really slow so i did it and it took it and he's like thank you have a good day i'm like thank you so he was very patient he never wanted to look at anything he didn't even

want to touch my ballot okay no that's that's good so you had a good situation i was waiting

for the bad stuff to happen no and in the meantime did you get the flag that's what you're supposed to get the flag right at the end um yes and then my daughter's standing next to me looking at me like mom you're 55 years old you've done this before yeah so anyways it was a good experience

you know what i was most surprised by i was watching the news last night and hank winchester from channel four in detroit interviewed uh jocelyn benson the secretary of state and she was like we have the most efficient way of doing this thing we're more efficient than ever we're gonna have our votes counted and way ahead of the time and we'll have them way before pennsylvania pennsylvania had theirs last night how how does michigan still not have all their stuff done like if we're that efficient i don't understand back in the day why was it that back in the day it was you had it all counted by the next morning and now it's like we have to wait days upon days

Do you think it's less people and more laws in place and safeguards, like more backups and processes and stuff like that to make sure that it's done right?

I don't know. Honestly, I can't answer that. But I can tell you this. The longer you wait, the more people think they're shenanigans. And I think that's usually what ends up happening.

I also think, unfortunately, the opposite of that is if it's too quick, people think they're shenanigans.

if it's too close well there's probably and there probably are shenanigans right don't leave you know when i i i told you i always talked about that story yesterday about that ufm kid uh that did you know and admitted that to me i think i don't know if he was doing it because he was trying to prove that there was you know

stuff that's out there or if he's doing it to be deceptive but when you have a guy doing that all it does is make your voting you know look bad but well i will say this i did feel a little emotional because it was my dad took me to go vote for the first time like i took luke uh to go vote for the first time but the funny thing was my dad made me vote for her really he told you he did and i told luke luke because luke said to me he goes who do i vote for and the only thing i said to him before i went into the to the deal was i only i said was here are some people that i have heard of because when you get to a list like the parks people yeah and then i realized you don't have to worry about it because it's like vote for four there's only four on the thing right i don't even know why they even put that on the on the ballot and then i said the propositions i said anything that raises my taxes vote no no i'm just kidding i don't know what to vote on those things do you

I mean, I'm going to be honest with you, bro. I don't believe in just bubbling people's name in because it looked familiar or just so my ballot could be full and complete. Yeah, I did that. I don't know who I'm voting for. I'm not about to just throw your name in there just so it can make me feel good just because I bubbled in somebody.

Can I tell you that I agree with you on that? And honestly, I only voted for the people that I truly knew who they were. I do not look at parties and stuff like that. Because one time I voted, and I voted based on the party, and I found out the guy was a kook.
