Hey guys, Bobby Bones here, host of The Bobby Bones Show. I'm always tired because I wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning, but it's all worth it because I get to hang out with all my friends and my studio. We share our lives. We look for as much good in the world as we possibly can with Tell Me Something Good, and we talk through the biggest news stories of the day, and also your biggest and favorite country artists are always stopping by. On the Gulf Coast, check us out on 95KSJ, and lock us in as a preset on the free iHeartRadio app today. Food math hasn't been mathing lately

00:01:01 - 00:01:27 | Speaker 7:

But at Zaxby's, we're fixing the equation Zaxby's has 10 traditional or boneless wings for $10 Toss in 8 signature sauces or 3 bowl dry rubs 10 wings for $10? At Zaxby's, the math is mathing Unlike the other chicken spots Zaxby's 10 for 10 Nothing but 10s across the board Respectfully Who's got the sauce? Limited time or for available only at participating locations

00:01:27 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 5:

while supplies last mojo in the morning show this is going to be an interesting conversation here because i want to hear more from megan on this but i want to see what the listeners think should megan reach out to the dying man right dying man or person person okay dying person person person we don't want to get specific okay i just want to make sure uh what's going on megan hi so

00:01:53 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 4:

there is somebody who I have met all of maybe four times in my life, right? And this person is nearing the end of their life and has reached out wanting to spend time together. And I'm in a very awkward place of like, I don't really want to. I know that sounds bad, But this is essentially a stranger and I don't know if I want to go through whatever this person wants to go through before they pass.

00:02:30 - 00:02:48 | Speaker 3:

So just to be clear, this isn't like a family member, like a, like a great, great grandma that you've only, am I asking too much information? It's fine. Okay. I just didn't know if it was like a, like a listener who you met at several events and don't know that well.

00:02:48 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 4:

No, it's a family member who I've only met like four times.

00:02:51 - 00:02:51 | Speaker 3:

Okay.

00:02:51 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 4:

So not a great relationship, obviously.

00:02:54 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but all of a sudden just wants to like clear the air on something. I'm guessing.

00:02:59 - 00:03:00 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:03:00 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 3:

Oh, that's tough.

00:03:01 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 4:

I know, and it makes me feel like a bad person for wanting, like to not want to do this, but also I don't feel like it's my responsibility. But then I feel like it makes me the a-hole. Like I feel like I'm really stuck here.

00:03:13 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 5:

This is almost an am I the a-hole that you feel like, Because to me, instantly when I found out that they're dying and put myself in this, even if I didn't know them, I would be like, man, I, you know, if I could make their last days be happier and well, you know what I mean?

00:03:31 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 4:

Not everybody.

00:03:32 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 5:

Not everybody.

00:03:33 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 4:

Deserves that. I'm sorry, but like, is that really my responsibility?

00:03:40 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 5:

Wait a second. Is this, this isn't somebody like your, your mom or anything, is it? Or no, somebody, because I. She's not trying to, don't pry. I know, but I'm asking this question because I know.

00:03:50 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 4:

I volunteer the information if I want to do.

00:03:52 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 5:

There's only one. Listen, for those that think that Megan, you know, you know, may dislike me on that list with her mom, I don't think that that's the case. But if it were me dying, I would want to see you, even though, like, I would want to see you. But when you don't want to do something, it usually has to do with, there's like one person in your life that has been not great. But it makes me sad, though, that this person is dying.

00:04:17 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 6:

I mean, people die every day. So my thing is, if the person wasn't dying, would they be trying to reach out and make amends? Correct. Just because you're dying, don't make me feel all sympathetic. And now you want to have this come to Jesus moment because you're about to die. Now you want to be my friend and say you're sorry.

00:04:34 - 00:05:11 | Speaker 3:

Instantly, my reaction would be like, yes, of course. Just, you know, like Mojo said, this is the end of their life. if they're trying to get something off their chest okay but i can think of a former family member of mine who like i'm trying to put myself in your shoes who was is a terrible human being and if i got that phone call i don't think i would i would go or reciprocate or anything so I know that they're related to me, but, like, truly four times in my life for less than a couple. Like, collectively, I've maybe spent 10 hours with this person.

00:05:12 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 2:

You know what I mean? I would go, though. If I felt like, because it's all about my spirit. It ain't about them at the end of the day. And if you feel like there's a piece of you that would feel good that you did it, then that's enough to do it. Not even for them.

00:05:27 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 3:

I don't think there's anything in it for me. oh samantha i mean i know that sounds bad but like it is a stranger samantha you have a very

00:05:37 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 1:

interesting perspective on this one what's tell everybody i work in hospice so megan if you

00:05:44 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 4:

never listen to anything anyone ever says listen to this do not disturb your current peace because

00:05:50 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

someone has resentment from their past wow oh my god does that hit you so it's funny that you call because essentially this whole thing stemmed from I have a lot of loved ones who work in hospice and they were all on the side of like it's not you don't know like don't like it never turns out

00:06:10 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 4:

well no just you know what whatever they have to say let him take it with them where they're going and just be at peace if they wanted you in their life they could have done this sooner

00:06:22 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 1:

so is this a common thing when people are dying they reach out to people that they have had

00:06:27 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 4:

strained relationships with or no kind of but like Megan said it never ends well interesting

00:06:34 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 1:

how does it usually end what does it end with the person that is the the Megan in this situation

00:06:39 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 4:

having more struggles yes yes they're upset and it bothers them for I mean I know people still dealing with things that they were told when someone was passing so yeah interesting uh

00:06:52 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 1:

interesting perspective I really appreciate that's a great first call to have on this one Nikki, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:06:59 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 6:

Hey, Megan. I just wanted to say you definitely are not the a-hole. My dad has been dying of cancer, and I have not gone and seen him because of the things he has done. Obviously, that situation is a little different than yours, but, you know, they don't deserve the peace that they caused us pain.

00:07:21 - 00:07:32 | Speaker 1:

um do you think that if your dad dies you will not have told him the things that you wanted to tell him though like and i'm not saying good things sometimes you need to say good bad things

00:07:32 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 6:

to him i have said my piece to him um and i was nice enough that two years ago when my daughter was born i did let him meet her and he doesn't even remember that that is how his downfall of his life has been because of the drugs and alcohol he has chosen oh wow that's sad well thank you for

00:08:01 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 1:

that perspective though that's an interesting uh a lot of good comments on this one man uh what's up how you doing mallory it's mojo in the morning you heard the story that megan just said somebody that she really hasn't had a relationship with nor probably does want to have a relationship with

00:08:17 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 5:

is called her because they're dying i assume that the person is older than her and i my sister and i struggle with this with our dad's family we my theory on it always is you're the child the child deserves to be reached out to and if they didn't reach out to you along the lines then they don't need to be reaching out to you now because they're only trying to make themselves feel better

00:08:41 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 1:

all right um kelsey has a question to ask you megan what's that kelsey

00:08:48 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 5:

um megan what does your dad say like have you talked to him about it yeah i i love my father

00:08:57 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 3:

i have the best dad in the whole world and if you don't know my parents had a super rocky relationship growing up and that had a huge effect on me and my dad was never the kind of person to ever tell me what to do and always said whatever your decision is i support it completely however you want to spend your time whoever you want to talk to like that does not affect my relationship with you at all he has always been that rock in my life and so he's taking the same stance here of like you can go and i support you or you cannot go and i will not judge you so it's while that is the best option for a parent is also selfishly the worst answer too because i'm just Like, tell me what to do.

00:09:39 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 1:

What do you think your dad would do, knowing your dad?

00:09:41 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 3:

Um, I, uh, I don't think my dad would go.

00:09:47 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 1:

No? What about your brother?

00:09:49 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my brother wouldn't go. He wouldn't go at all? My brother wouldn't even think twice about this.

00:09:53 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 1:

Okay.

00:09:53 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

The fact that I'm even kind of thinking about it really shows the differences in all of our family. Mm-hmm.

00:10:00 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 4:

remembers because like my brother won't take the call you know what i mean like he won't read the text message saying i'd like oh he won't even read the text you know what i mean no like it's not he's moved on and like is so over that part of his life i'm actually surprised you took the call or the text message i know but i i i feel a weird sense of obligation until like the actual moment of action pops up and then I and action being like books a trip, get ready to go, whatever it is. And then I'm like, this is not my responsibility. Oh, you got to go somewhere?

00:10:37 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Oh, hell no. And you got to spend money?

00:10:40 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 4:

See.

00:10:42 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 5:

That changes it all.

00:10:44 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 4:

That changes everything. Does it? Does that change everything? Hell yeah. It's not like a job. Now you got to pay? Yeah.

00:10:51 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 6:

I don't know. Sometimes if they're right next door, it means just the same, you know? Well, you know what? You got some good advice. There's some great advice from these callers that we just had. I think the first call was the most because they've dealt with this numerous times.

00:11:07 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 2:
