This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

Allen Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year, I don't think I'm mentally prepared. I found Bishop State, they had the program, I met a few people there, I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background, he said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work, he didn't let me have any leeway, he pushed me to my limits, so I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing, all my instructors just want to see me succeed, they want to push me to my limit, they want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be, and I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department, and I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. Valentine's Day, fast approaching. And we're going to talk a little bit about Valentine's gifts. Shannon, you want to throw something out there, a little group chat?

So, Wes and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. I feel like Valentine's Day is for kids now. Like, it's such a cute holiday for the kids to have their classroom parties and make their Valentine's, which now is very over the top, you know.

It's for kids and guys that are cheating. I don't know. I don't know.

But, okay. So I used to say that and people would be like, you're such a passionate. No, I like Val.

I think Valentine's Day is really cute. I'm not poo-pooing on it. We just don't, like we've never gone out to dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14th or anything like that. But I kind of want to do something romantic for him. It doesn't even have to be around Valentine's Day or on Valentine's Day rather. Like it can be around Valentine's Day. but um this spa that i love sent out an email and they were talking about how they had like a special for a couple's massage and then there were all kinds of other things that like went with it but the main bulk of this package was a couple's massage and i was like oh that would be amazing i love getting massages do guys like getting massages or is that a dumb would that be a

is a great thing a couple's massage i think a couple's massage is great too but i think that either of them are great like i think i think i don't think that if i got chelsea a couple's massage she'd probably be like you know that's great but i would rather have it by myself but I think as a guy, for me, if you gave me a couples massage, if Chelsea gave that to me, I would go, oh my God, it's cool. the middle of the thing, I'm like, you know, we may want to sweat. At least not. I thought it was weird that they had, like, music playing and all that stuff. I wanted to talk during the whole thing. I'm a talker during massages. Why?

Aren't you supposed to be relaxed? I start talking, and then I usually... Like, I want to know

their life story. Like, I want to know everything

about them. But that's the point of a couple's massage is to talk. That's why they put you in the same room. Otherwise, I'll just pay for two individual

But we were in the same room together and like these women were like on top of us and we were bruised. We were crying. We were going to go out to dinner after and stuff. My name is Metarica, Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, But some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.
