I'm Mange Shatikular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:01:33 - 00:01:38 | Speaker 5:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

All right, Mojo in the Morning. Oh, one thing I forgot to bring up, and I didn't get a chance to bring it up because I was homesick after the Jingle Ball, was about Ashley Nix. Oh, my God. I got to tell you a funny story with her. So the Joe Show with Joe and Ashley and Jed, you can listen to them afternoons on our station. And, of course, they're on mornings on iHeartRadio's 93.3 FLZ. So after our big party that we had at Little Caesars Arena, it got fancy. Did you guys know that they had a green room set up for the people that work on the station? It was like amazing. Like they had a, well, yeah, what? You were there. There was a place where we were eating it. Oh. What did you think?

00:02:59 - 00:02:59 | Unknown:

I don't know.

00:03:00 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 1:

I pictured there. You were like Snoop Dogg's green room.

00:03:02 - 00:03:03 | Speaker 7:

I didn't eat any of that food.

00:03:03 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 1:

You didn't eat anything?

00:03:04 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 4:

No.

00:03:05 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 1:

Did you see the food?

00:03:06 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 4:

I saw it for a second. Yeah. Okay.

00:03:09 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 1:

So let me tell you this story. So they had, it was like really fancy. Yes. But I heard National put this thing together, and they do it, like, really top-notch, and it's pretty crazy how they do it. So they had, like, dressing rooms set up for everybody. They had this room that was set up where they would provide you with food. So it was really nice. Like, you didn't have to go to concessions, because I thought I was going to have to go to the concession stand, which I'm fine with. But I was like, holy crap, they actually had, like, a buffet, like, set up for you to sit there and eat.

00:03:39 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 2:

Big buffet.

00:03:40 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 1:

And so what they had on there was like beef tenderloin, these unbelievably like really buttery mashed potatoes, veggies, a salad bar, all this stuff. It was like unbelievable.

00:03:53 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 7:

I'm so pissed. I didn't eat.

00:03:53 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 1:

So here, well, you should have then hit up Ashley because here's the story. Do you guys know somebody that when they go out, they always take home to-go boxes? and sometimes they'll take home to-go boxes to a point where the people have to wrap up everything, like even rolls that are like the free rolls or the free chips and salsa that they give you at like a Mexican restaurant. So they were putting this spread on for us and at the end they were starting to take things away because once the show started they were getting rid of the food and just putting out desserts and things like that. They figured everybody had pretty much eaten by that point. Well, Ashley Nix, who works with my son Joe, when she saw them taking the food away, went up and asked the Little Caesars Arena people for to-go boxes because she wanted them to wrap food up so she could take it back to her hotel.

00:04:46 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 3:

Good for her, because you know what they're going to do with that food? Throw it away. Right, exactly. I am proud of her.

00:04:52 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 1:

So she's asking for all this food. So I gave Joe some crap, and I said to him, I go, I go, what is the story with this? Do you guys not pay your... co-host enough money that she's wrapping up all this food and he goes dad you would not believe her they go on client calls sometimes and when they go on these client calls ashley nicks will ask if the client's not eating all their food if she could take it home and wrap it up she actually will ask the client to wrap up their food and the clients find it endearing and find it kind of cute that they do that. Hold on, let me dial up. I love it. Isn't that funny?

00:05:29 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 5:

This is like going out to dinner with my dad, by the way. There is not a corner of a chip that is left if that man is out to dinner with you.

00:05:37 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 1:

That's smart, though.

00:05:38 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, truly, he takes every single thing on the table that he can.

00:05:41 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 1:

You gotta call us. Hey, what's happening, Jed?

00:05:44 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 4:

Give me one second. I'm gonna bet you on hold one second.

00:05:47 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 1:

Okay, thank you, Jed.

00:05:48 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 5:

I bet if it was KP calling, he'd be gonna bet you on hold.

00:05:51 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, hey, baby. Hello? Joseph.

00:05:57 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 3:

Yes?

00:05:57 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 1:

I'm talking on the show about Ashley Nix wrapping food up after the Jingle Ball.

00:06:05 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

Well, she's right here. She's feeling better.

00:06:08 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 1:

Ashley, I heard you got sick too, Ashley.

00:06:10 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 2:

I know. You gave me your cooties.

00:06:12 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 1:

Oh, come on. We shouldn't have been that close. Actually, you know what it might have been? It might have been us eating off the same buffet.

00:06:18 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, it may have been. And also, Shannon, you gave me your period. Thanks a lot.

00:06:22 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Ashley. You're welcome. Ashley, you, from what Joe is telling me, anytime you guys go out anywhere, you always ask for to-go containers to wrap stuff up?

00:06:33 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, because they're just going to throw the food out. And we had really good food at our Jingle Ball. We had steak. We had fettuccine. So, of course, I wanted to bring it back to the hotel for to eat it after.

00:06:44 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

Hold on, because she's saying that the food's going to waste. We've gone out to eat at restaurants for work meetings and whatnot, And she will tell the waitress, hey, by the way, come up to me a little bit quietly before we leave because I've got to put in a couple to-go orders.

00:07:00 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 2:

We went to Hooters, and I was like, yeah, I'm going to eat these wings now, and then I need a 10-piece to go.

00:07:05 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. And who's paying for all this stuff?

00:07:08 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

The company.

00:07:09 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. You are beautiful.

00:07:11 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 2:

I love it.

00:07:12 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 1:

You are unbelievable, Ashley. Ashley, by the way, real quick, Did you guys know that Jed invited KP to actually come down for New Year's? Did you hear that story?

00:07:24 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

Did he really? What? This is true. Wow.

00:07:29 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 1:

He asked our producer, KP, if she would spend the holidays with him down in Florida.

00:07:37 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

I did tell her I live with my parents. Oh, my gosh.

00:07:41 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 1:

Oh, that's right. So, KP, you get a chance to meet Papa and Nancy.

00:07:49 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm so thrilled. Wait, KP, he just said that you didn't respond to him. Are you ghosting Jed? You can't ghost my best friend.

00:07:57 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 2:

No, Jed's ghosting me. I told him I wanted to go to Jingle Ball, and he said no. That's what I'm assuming.

00:08:02 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 3:

Well, that's because I have family coming. I have a busy weekend that weekend. That's because Jed has 38. He's like Tom Brady yesterday where he had to request 100 tickets for the San Francisco 49ers. Jed has the most ticket requests I've ever seen for a concert.

00:08:15 - 00:08:23 | Speaker 1:

Really? Jed, how many ticket requests did you put in, Jed? A dozen. Oh, good Lord. You got a dozen friends and family members that are coming to Jingle Ball?

00:08:23 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 4:

I mean, I got a lot of people coming. I got to take care of them.

00:08:26 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 1:

Oh, you're a sweet prince.

00:08:29 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 4:

I am. Love you, buddy.

00:08:30 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

I love you, too. Wait, do me a favor, will you please? Will you two guys behave yourselves, you and KP?

00:08:38 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 4:

I love this. I've been well behaved. What are you talking about? It has been a very, very long time. You had her come back to your hotel room.

00:08:44 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 1:

Does Nancy know that you did this? Does your mom know this?

00:08:47 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 4:

No, but what mama won't know won't hurt her.

00:08:51 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 1:

You sound like the water boy. No, no, do it in the water boy voice.

00:08:55 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 4:

Mama said what mama don't know won't hurt her. There you go. I love it.

00:09:00 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. All right, well, listen, we wanted to give Ashley some grief on that, only to find out that Ashley actually puts in more orders when she goes on client calls.

00:09:11 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 3:

I do. I've seen Ashley, I kid you not, walk out with, and she does the other thing, too, where she'll go, you're going to take that home? Like, what? My side of rice? You're going to take that home? She's taking home, I'd say, at least six boxes of takeout. That's the most I've seen her take home.

00:09:29 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 2:

I did it when Joe was on Good Morning America. Oh, that was the best.

00:09:33 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 3:

When we did Good Morning America, I had to judge a pie-eating contest, and she walked up to the people making the pies, and I swear to God, asked the guy, his name is Mike, asked if she could take home the crust from the pie. Really good. What are you going to do with it? You don't know how to make pie. What are you going to do with the crust of the pie? Hey, you're going to do something with it.

00:09:52 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

I went out to dinner with Luke this weekend. We were at a restaurant where there was a table of like 15 people there and one lady.

00:10:00 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 6:

took home all the leftovers. She had four bags of leftovers. But if you think about it, it's genius because she's piecing together an entire meal.

00:10:10 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 5:

Or possibly a day of meals.

00:10:11 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. It's amazing. It's a lot of leftovers.

00:10:15 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 5:

You guys like leftovers like that, though?

00:10:16 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 6:

I love.

00:10:17 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 5:

I don't know what it is.

00:10:18 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 6:

I do not like leftovers. If I don't eat them right away, then I'm not eating them at all. Then I end up throwing them away in garbage. I ate it from you, Dad. Yeah. It's not. No. Ashley's the reason why this earth is having issues right now Because of all the styrofoam

00:10:32 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, yeah

00:10:34 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, yeah, yeah That's your comeback, I love it I love you, Ashley, I'm glad you're feeling better Listen, let's see if your guys' jingle ball is Friday Let's see if Ebola takes over your jingle ball like it did our jingle ball Alright? Right Alright, God bless you guys, I love you, talk to you later Love you, Dad Alright, bye-bye What's up? Hi, Mojo in the morning, hello

00:10:57 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 5:

Oh, hey, I know the Mojo's talking about taking home leftovers. And anytime I go somewhere where there's leftovers, especially if people haven't eaten off of them, we package them up and take them outside to homeless folks. Oh, that's a nice thing. At weddings, whatever, we just take them and deliver them for people. That's nice.

00:11:15 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. No, that's a good thing to do. Chelsea one time and I left a restaurant. She was leaving. I dumped that. No spit. Exactly. No spit. That's all right.

00:11:24 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 5:

No spit.

00:11:25 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 6:

No spit.

00:11:26 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 5:

That's too bad.

00:11:27 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 6:

All right, well, you have a great day. By the way, where are the best leftovers from? Because to me, any time that you can get leftovers from Applebee's, it's like the greatest leftovers in the world.

00:11:39 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 5:

I don't know. I would say pizza. Pizza. Oh, yeah. Cold pizza, hot pizza.

00:11:45 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 6:

Pizza. Isn't it funny that I will eat other people's pizza, even if I don't know who the people are? Like, if I see somebody.

00:11:52 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 5:

Good immune system, maybe.

00:11:54 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 6:

Well, not really. Not at this moment

00:11:58 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 5:

I knew you were sick at Jingle Ball

00:11:59 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 6:

Wait, could you tell I was sick?

00:12:02 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 5:

I did, I told my husband I was like, oh no, Mojo's sick He was like, we're all going home sick

00:12:07 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 6:

Why did you think that I looked sick? I thought I actually

00:12:11 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 5:

No, your voice, you sounded resty Oh, my voice at the end of the night

00:12:14 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 6:

Definitely at the end of the night That was a long day though Hey, thank you for the call
