Yes, yes, do it, because it brings me joy. But I kind of always assumed that because flight attendants have to put up with so much malarkey on the planes, they've got to be making good money, right? They get to travel all over the place. Some of them are carrying around very expensive bags. And I said, oh, this must be like WWE wrestling. If you just get through the flight, you're going to walk away with a lot of good money. And there's probably some repercussions to your mental health and your body. But you know what? You got a fat paycheck. And if you're in my world, worth it, right? Probably not the best outlook to have on this. But it's true. I'm like, oh, well, they probably get paid. Well, there's a new trend on TikTok where all the flight attendants are revealing their salaries. And, oh, my God, I was flabbergasted. They are some of the most underpaid people on the planet. For full-time work, they are walking away, on average, with less than $30,000 a year. And they literally break up physical flights on a daily basis.

Under $30,000? I knew they weren't paid enough for the garbage they put up with. That's not livable. But under $30,000?

It's literally not livable. And those are full-time flight attendants?

It's not livable. I don't know how anybody who is a flight attendant is managing to pay your bills or why you're doing it because it seems like a lot of work for no respect and really no help from your higher ups, if we're being honest.

travel that you're doing well and the thing is that these free flights places they're there for about five minutes and they get back on the flight and they go back to where they were once at well i'd love to hear from flight attendants to call us and tell us this i knew a flight attendant she

started after her kids got into school and she wasn't needed around during the day as much and she would do those quick little commuter shuttle things and be back. It was so crazy. She would just go back and forth to D.C. and back in one day and be there on the bus stop to get her kids. But then one of the reasons a lot of people become flight attendants is they love to travel, and you do get a lot of perks as far as free flights and stuff like that. But, man, in the last three years, you realize just the lack of respect people have for them. Now they're bouncers, they're medics, they're lawyers.

And unfortunately, I think that that goes for almost any job. I mean, people are just like, I think about like baristas, people who work in drive-thrus, servers, everybody's just brutal to everybody.

But not to put any of them down. They don't have the lives of 300 people on the line in a metal cylinder flying in the sky. Like, it's amazing. Spike brought up the greatest point. They are the on-plane security. Like, how ridiculous is that? What's up, Stephanie? How you doing?

Good. We're talking about this latest trend on TikTok of flight attendants and what they're not getting paid, how much they're making.

Yeah. So I've also read that flight attendants don't get paid until, like, the door shuts on the plane. So all of the stuff that they're putting in the overhead compartments is all just, like, free, right? They're not getting paid for it. That does not seem right to me. It really does. Yeah.

It's gate to gate. How are they getting away to push away?

Yeah, I think there was a union trying to change that and say they got to change it because they couldn't get enough recruits to like replace people who've left the industry.

It all started with me trying to find out what Emirates girls make because I just assumed that those girls were the rich girls. and apparently they get paid like less than most.

This is a question I get asked a lot and the majority of the information is available on the airline's official website. These three elements consist within a cabin crew's wage packet. One, your basic salary. Two, your flying hours. And three, your layover expenses.

This is a screenshot from my airline's official website. The salary is calculated in dirhams, which is the local currency in Dubai. And these are approximate numbers for a grade two cabin crew, which is an economy tax limit.

It says $4,200 a month.

each promotion within the company. That's in Durham. That's not US hours. Your starting salary is a salary you will receive each month regardless. Our flying hours, yep, you guessed it, are calculated on the amount we are in.

parking there but I mean but you have to park like eight hours from the airport

a year oh i mean i didn't even make it through the year to be honest um um i uh i think i made less than 32 that year 30 wow 32 less than that but the other thing about flight attendants is that you'll keep the job because of the perks and everything but there's so many of the downfalls to it that like bottom line is it's easier to replace a flight attendant than it is a pilot and so when pilot or when flight attendants get the downside of either being sexually harassed or assaulted or something like that happens to you and you try and go report it airlines don't want to deal with it so they'll replace you because everyone wants to be a flight attendant

that happened and it's easier yeah that happened to my friend when she reported racism she was facing racism from um some of the guests whatever the people flying and her airline literally just

booted her off of her flights yep that's what they that's what they do to you i got assaulted by a pilot and they were like hey you know what we need him more than you so bye wow interesting um yeah but i mean you really love travel like which i did i love the job i did you have to meet a lot of great people but when it is domestic flights especially um and you're on like the east coast like i was um you're not really getting a ton of flight time so it's very hard and when you're moving city to city luckily i was based out of detroit but a lot of the time you'll be you have to commute um so if you're based in dallas you get like a crash pad there's not actually enough for you to live so flight attendants will share what they call a crash pad And there will be about, like, I don't know, anywhere from five to, like, 12 flight attendants all in, like, this one, like, apartment, basically. And you get a car. And, like, that's where you'll sleep until, like, you get on to your next flight.

Man. Thank you for the call. We appreciate that. What are some other occupations that we would be shocked to know what they get paid? I had a friend of mine that was a police officer. And, like, starting off police officers in major cities, and I don't want to say which one, but it was, like, $20-some-thousand dollars. Like, it was, like, ridiculous. And I know now they have to be a little bit more competitive with it, but still, it's like I'm not, you know, having people shoot at me for some, you know, ungodly amount of money. And that was always one of the things is, you know, if you're only paying $20,000 for these jobs, you're getting not the best of the best cream of the crop people that want to work for $20,000. But if you're a new nursing assistant, you can work tons of hours getting poo through at you, spit, hit, everything. And you're lucky to make $35,000, $40,000 a year. require when you go interview for the job do they want you to have a college degree um preschool they want an associate yeah and i know the same with social workers like they require certain degrees and you're like you're gonna pay me 10 bucks an hour but you know you want me to have the education that i'm gonna be paying for for the next 50 years it's like when are you ever supposed to be able to pay back your student loans when you're not even making

enough to pay rent let me ask you a question would it be more uh better off for you to go find like one of those families that's willing to pay a bunch of money and nanny for them

then do that yes actually um my daughter actually attends the center that i am currently at for free so that is a perk oh okay that makes sense but a lot of families don't want you to take your child right with you right yeah right so that is the only reason i have not left the industry and i'm blessed my center pays more than most yeah i mean you're asking i've looked to go elsewhere it is insanely it's just so insane how underpaid we are yeah mojo has to be better for

you to go private it'd be better for you to be an uber driver and that's what's a greater problem with society is we need child care for other parents to go to work and be able to afford

bills companies aren't bringing back people to work they can't because of that you know it's you bring up a really interesting point about that um everybody's always wondering the question where is everybody at they're not working nobody's you know because nobody's getting you know employees coming into their businesses they're doing the ubers the instacarts they're doing all that stuff the door dashes flexible hours yeah flexible hours and they make more money doing it and And therein lies the reasoning why a lot of people don't have businesses getting people in there. You're going to have to pay more than those convenient delivery services businesses.
