Mojo in the morning. Sometimes there are things that happen to us in our lives that we just can't talk about on the air because our spouses named Chelsea tell me not to. there are certain things that have happened that over time I wanted to just come right in and race in and talk about because you know we pretty much talk about everything but I was told I couldn't talk about this thing last year and it happened right on Super Bowl Sunday but now I've been given the official permission the dispensation as a good Catholic I know this to be able to talk about this right now and that is what happened at our Super Bowl party last year which really wasn't a party it was just a get together with a group of you know friends that came over and we all had you know some food and stuff like that and then we watched the game because I hate Super Bowl parties I'm gonna say this Super Bowl parties are the most overrated thing ever the reason why we got to work the next day and I want to watch the game and watch the commercials and I don't like when people start talking I don't want people actually having conversations with me during super bowl sunday so we just had this just during this commercial

00:02:57 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 2:

break just text my brother and invite him over i said but you need to shut the f up you're not allowed to actually talk during the game i said wait megan wants to watch the game she doesn't want to stand around the kitchen island chatting with a bunch of wives she wants to watch the game i want to watch the game i want to watch the commercials and especially halftime with rihanna so anyone we're inviting has to pay attention and not be chatting so we only invited two couples like our neighbors, and then one other couple, and that's it.

00:03:23 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

Well, let me say this to you. If you have to rewind your Xfinity because you missed something, it screws up everything, too, because then the timing's all screwed up. So I want people to be quiet. I want to watch it in real time. It's one of the only events that I will watch in real time. All right, so mind you, this is something that could have been a good topic the day after Super Bowl party last year, but my wife told me I could not talk about it. um last year we decided that we were going to invite a few friends over and so super bowl sunday i went out and i had to go do some shopping to go get some stuff so there's a market here in town called plum market that makes like pre-made foods and they have like you know uh overpriced stuff so all right yes it's very good though yes very good overpriced yes so i was sent to go to plum market because they have these ann arbor tortilla chips which are the most amazing chips ever whoever makes these in ann arbor i love you i want to kiss you on the lips so we were making nachos so i go up there and i'm buying a ton of these chips and i'm buying a ton of pre-made chicken and i'm buying cheese and all the rest of stuff and i'm gonna make these nachos and i end up bumping into a couple that are acquaintances of of chelsea and i and they said oh look at you you're having a party tonight and i said no we're gonna have a few people over you know for the super bowl and they're like oh great oh they're talking to me and how's everything going how the kids what's going on catching up stuff so to speak all right i go and buy my stuff fast forward game comes on pregame starts at uh what four o'clock in the afternoon or actually pregame starts at like 9 a.m doesn't it mike it's like they start doing pregame stuff so

00:05:00 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 2:

Pre-game starts at, like, 5 o'clock-ish. Friends start coming in, whatever. My ring cam goes off. You know that noise that if you have a ring cam, it goes, ding-dong, you know, whatever. And I'm like, who else could be here? And I thought, maybe it's the Jets pizza guys dropping pizza off, but I just ordered them, so they couldn't come that fast. I go to the door, and I look, and I've got, like, a glass thing in there. I can see who's there. I look. It's the couple that was at the market earlier that day, okay? Yeah. So these guys were at the front door. Yeah. He's holding like a platter in his hand, all right? I answer the door. I go, hey, what's going on? They're like, hey, we just thought it would be kind of fun just to come over and watch the game with you.

00:05:43 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 4:

Uninvited?

00:05:44 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 2:

Yes. And he goes, and we brought hummus.

00:05:47 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 4:

Oh. Well, that's nice. So nowhere in your conversation with him, when you ran into him at the grocery store, did you say, maybe you should stop by? None. Nothing.

00:05:58 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 2:

Not one. Not one thing. Who does that? I have no idea. You know how you guys made fun of me last year when I went and watched the Super Bowl in a movie theater by myself. But this is what happens when you don't. You know what? You were the smartest guy ever. I should have sent them over to the Imagine Theater to go bring you hummus. The funniest part of this whole story is going to be the hummus because this is the best part of this whole story. I can't say no to them like I can't say no and actually the people that were over it was just a couple of couples that were over the people that were over the entire time were going so you guys just got hummus and pita and you decided you were going to get in the car and just come over and they're like yeah we just heard you know Tom and Chelsea talking about having some people over and we thought we want to watch the game with other people and mind you I can only talk about this because they moved out of town so they moved but they're probably listening on the iHeartRadio app if they if they enjoyed the show at all. So if they are, hey, guys.

00:06:54 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 4:

I'm not having anybody over this year. Was it the good kind of hummus or was it like the store-bought Sabra hummus?

00:06:59 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 2:

It was, they bought it from the, actually, it was Chelsea's friend Monica's mom's hummus because I think that she makes the hummus for them. I think she bought it, they bought it at the store. They probably paid $8,000 for it, but they bought it and they got it. It was $8,000 hummus and pita bread. Okay, so let me ask this question. Has anybody ever had this happen to them? Because we now have talked about this. We've talked about the Super Bowl hummus for, like, years. A year. Months. Not year. And the conversation has always been brought up of what should we have done? Like, I couldn't not invite them in. I'm just not that kind of a person.

00:07:42 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 4:

Well, right.

00:07:42 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 2:

And Chelsea's not that kind of a person. But what should we have done?

00:07:45 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

You did the only thing you could have done at that point, which was invite them in to watch the game.

00:07:53 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 2:

Which, by the way, now that we all know that Spike's having his brother and some friends over, let's all go over to his house and talk.

00:07:59 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 1:

No, I was going to say, you're welcome if you're going to watch the game, not if you're going to talk.

00:08:04 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 2:

We're all coming over, and we're all going to bring hummus.

00:08:06 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 1:

Here's the thing. I am so polite, and I'm afraid to offend people in every other realm except my house. That is my private, like, when they're at the door, I'm also immediately thinking, if I let them in this time, they're going to show up any time they want to roll on by uninvited. So I have to nip it in the bud now.

00:08:27 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 2:

So you would have, what, grabbed the hummus and closed the door?

00:08:30 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 1:

I probably would have said, oh, my gosh, I can't believe you stopped by without an invitation. I'm really sorry, but I just have a few close friends here. Would you really have done that? Well, I'm not close to them. They're just market people.

00:08:44 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 4:

Even if I really, really, really didn't want them, I don't think I would have the balls to do that. Same. I would just let them in and suffer through it. No, I agree with you. But I don't think I could, like right to their face. It's not going to be easy. I wish I had the guts to do that, but I don't think I would have.

00:09:00 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 1:

No, I'm going to have to find a new market.

00:09:03 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 2:

Spike, I think that you would not do that. You are a very kind-hearted person. You would have let them come in.

00:09:10 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 1:

No, no, no. You don't understand. You know how your phone rings all day And you're like oh my god I give my phone out to too many people Like 12 people have my phone number And when people ask for it I don't give it to them Because I'm just very private About who I let into my world Because then it creates stress Then you don't know how to say no to people Then it multiplies And then all of a sudden you've got a million people you've got to take care of

00:09:32 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

Megan how are you?

00:09:34 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 3:

Good morning how are you guys?

00:09:36 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 2:

Good have you had an uninvited guest Just show up?

00:09:40 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Well, this is a little bit of a different story, not Super Bowl or anything. But so when I was about 10 years old for a family Christmas celebration, we had our entire family that was there. We were all sitting down for Christmas dinner and everyone accounted for. And all of a sudden.

00:10:00 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 1:

hear the front door open and we're all kind of looking at each other like we're expecting anybody else at this point in time and a big group of people about 10 of them coming through our door saying merry christmas and you know we see them like getting settled taking their coats off and we're just kind of you know like we walked out there to the front door and we're like just kind of staring at them like what who are these people our neighbor's family from two doors down got the houses mixed up and they all started coming into our house oh my god but then eventually you figured it out and sent them on their way right well yeah once they started looking around and like seeing the pictures on the wall that were people that none of them recognized they figured it out

00:10:43 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 6:

pretty quickly yeah sorry wrong house but leave the mac and cheese here we'll take that um jenny Who's the uninvited guest?

00:10:50 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 2:

My mother-in-law.

00:10:52 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 6:

Your mother-in-law. Yes. She just randomly shows up, huh? Could you imagine?

00:11:00 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 2:

So what happened was we are originally from the other side of the state, the west side of the state. We now live near Detroit.

00:11:07 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 6:

Okay.

00:11:07 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 2:

And, God, I really hope she's not listening to this particular radio station. She's not.

00:11:12 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 6:

And, by the way, we're only on in one area of the state. I just want you to know that. Don't worry. Go ahead.

00:11:18 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 2:

Oh, beautiful. Thank you. So we were visiting over there over the summer with all of our families, my husband and I. And this was, I think, her first holiday without my father-in-law. He had passed away. And she wasn't sure what to do. And we said, oh, you should totally come stay with us. That's totally fine. But we didn't make any solid plans. This was in, like, June. So, you know, then December 23rd, she calls us and said, hey, I'm an hour away. And we just go, oh, okay. And our house is a disaster. her. We had not planned for her to be there at all.

00:11:50 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 6:

Oh, jeez. And she just shows up, huh?

00:11:54 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 2:

And she sure did. And I had to go to work. I hadn't taken any time off or anything, and my husband hadn't taken any time off work, so she was just at the house by herself.

00:12:02 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 6:

Oh, jeez. That's awkward. What's her name? What's her first name?

00:12:06 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 2:

Fine? Or hers? No, hers.

00:12:09 - 00:12:10 | Unknown:

Sue.

00:12:10 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 6:

Sue. It's Mojo here. Hope you're not a fan of 104.5 SNX Grand Rapids Oh my god Well thank you for the call, we appreciate it And if Sue wants to come over and bring hummus As long as hummus is brought, we're all happy with that

00:12:28 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 7:

The good hummus

00:12:29 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 6:

Deshaun, you're not invited to my house either Because I know you, you would show up You'd show up empty handed, wouldn't you?

00:12:36 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 5:

You damn right

00:12:37 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 6:

What's going on, buddy?

00:12:43 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 5:

Oh man, let me tell you The worst I hate, when you invite a guest and they bring somebody with them.

00:12:49 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah.

00:12:50 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 5:

And you weren't expecting them. Like, let me tell you a story that's actually just happened. My wife met her biological father for the first time. And so, you know, after getting to know him a couple times, we invited him over for dinner, you know, and I made steaks for everybody. So he brings another person with him, another woman. And I had to tell a lady because my wife didn't want to do it because I'm a straight shooter. I said, I'm sorry. I don't think I have enough for you to enjoy with us.

00:13:15 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 1:

Oh, that's a tough situation to be in, though.

00:13:18 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 5:

You're like Spike.

00:13:19 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 6:

You'd be honest, huh?

00:13:20 - 00:13:21 | Speaker 5:

Well, you didn't even have enough food.

00:13:22 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:13:22 - 00:13:24 | Speaker 5:

I mean, I have a family of six.

00:13:25 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah.

00:13:25 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 5:

Six of us. You know, I had to pull the trigger. Like, I'm sorry. You know what kills me? My wife thought I was rude about it.

00:13:33 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 7:

Well, I don't know these people. Like, forget the food. I don't know if you're going to rob me. I don't know if you could be around the children. I don't know anything about you. So you haven't cleared the TSA at my front door to be able to come in.

00:13:48 - 00:14:00 | Speaker 5:

Yes, yes. But, you know, here's the thing. After we talked about it, he actually felt offended by it. And I'm like, I'm the one offended. You bring somebody uninvited. We just brought you. You're coming.

00:14:04 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 6:

The misfit Victor. Victor, you would be the uninvited guest probably this year.

00:14:08 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 4:

What's going on, Victor? Probably, probably. No, I love Halloween I'm like Spike and these guys I do up Halloween all the time And one year we're sitting there And have everybody over And getting ready to trick or treat Doorbell rings I go out, open the door And there's a kid sitting there with his parents And I recognize the parents They're from the sushi place down the street Oh, cool costume I didn't know you guys were in the sub I give them candy And they walk inside They walked inside? Yeah, they start taking off their shoes And everything They're coming inside And they barely speak English and I'm like, what the hell is going on?

00:14:42 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 6:

Wait, they thought that that meant an invite to come inside? It was Halloween. Don't you go to the next door? No, even worse.

00:14:49 - 00:14:54 | Speaker 4:

My wife's brother-in-law is like, yeah, I invited them. I'm like, you invited them?

00:14:55 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 3:

That would be me.

00:14:56 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 4:

I said, how the hell did you communicate with them? You barely speak English.

00:15:00 - 00:15:07 | Speaker 3:

they barely speak English. I go, how did you? They were like the last people to leave. But you know what

00:15:07 - 00:15:11 | Speaker 4:

though? That's good. You got an in at the local sushi place now. Anytime you

00:15:11 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 3:

need sushi. They moved to California. It did nothing for me. But the whole time I'd be like, you want pizza? And they would just nod their

00:15:19 - 00:15:37 | Speaker 4:

head. I got to be honest with you. I got to be honest with you. That's what I'm going to do to somebody's house this year. I'm just going to randomly walk into their house and just walk in and take my shoes off because you know you're staying for a while if you take your shoes off yeah right looking for a little hollywood
