Mojo in the morning. Shannon, these cancellation policies are no joke. Tell the listeners what happened to you when you were trying to cancel an appointment that you had.

00:01:42 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 3:

So I had made an appointment. I wanted to partake in a little bit of self-care. And so I scheduled a massage appointment for myself. And I was so, so excited about this appointment. But you guys all know this. I have not been feeling so hot lately, as you can tell from my voice. I am not a smoker. This is just a very, very raw sore throat. Wow. And so, no, for real. Where do you keep the cigarettes? I've never smoked a cigarette. But I was like, okay, I feel kind of bad going into this place, you know, and they're like touching me all over. They're so close to me. I'm like, it's probably best that I just cancel and be mindful and respectful of the massage therapist. So the night before my appointment was supposed to happen, I called and just said, you know, I out of an abundance of caution, I feel like it's better for me to just cancel this appointment and I'll reschedule it another time. Like, I really do want to come in. And the woman told me that she was going to have to charge me full price for the appointment anyway as a cancellation fee. And I was like, OK, well, never mind. I will just come in. i'm not feeling great but maybe i'll get some rest during the appointment and she said no please don't and charged me the cancellation fee which was the full price of the appointment and i would

00:03:04 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 5:

say um this is a phone scam we will we will scam you you know what i mean like and i know that

00:03:11 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 3:

like this is i i places hate when people cancel their appointments the day of i completely understand you are losing business and you're out that money um this was the day before and i also know and this was a piece of me being kind of miffed at having to pay for the appointment anyway this place this particular place where i had scheduled it is super super busy and they have a cancellation list that's a mile long i know this because i'm on the cancellation list so there are they could have rebooked my appointment and made that money back in about one minute but um i'm still so mad i paid for it i didn't even go they should have like a strike

00:03:52 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 2:

system because like you are now having me put you at risk of you not being able to work so i get you sick and now you're out for three days and you can't make money you would rather have that than me show up sick like well it's like you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't i was

00:04:05 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 3:

trying to do the right thing and just you know have some caution but i understand i understand where they're coming from but i'm like but couldn't it be like a 20 cancellation fee and not

00:04:16 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 5:

the whole thing it's weird i've noticed this and do any of our listeners use any of the restaurant apps like open table or there's another one called resi yeah if you use those things i've noticed that it used to be that the higher end restaurants would make you pay a fee if you were going to cancel like if you canceled they would make you pay you know a certain amount of money like per how many people you asked for that reservation because it must be that people just book a bunch of restaurants and then never show up for it and now i've noticed that even the lower not i'm saying like the you know the lower scale restaurants but i'm saying like the non you know big steak places and stuff there doing it and they have the they have this thing now where there's one restaurant that i saw that was on there that was on uh i think it was open table that wanted fifty dollars a person that you were booking that they put on hold on your card and they don't charge you unless you do cancel but what we say not under not other than what oh oh well it's mind-boggling to me that they do it

00:05:23 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 4:

but i get it they don't want you to for sure but they don't want to get stiff yeah your case is

00:05:28 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 5:

different at that point right there yeah that's insane if okay i'm sick well you know what here's the deal i'm gonna come in and i'm gonna get you sick and if that woman's gonna charge me guess

00:05:37 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 1:

what i said that she goes no i don't know what do you want me to do i would have shown up i would

00:05:43 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 5:

have shown up and say no i'm not gonna do it and the problem is you know have you guys ever tried to dispute something on your credit card these days your credit card company used to be your credit card company would believe you and that was okay they do now what's called an investigation aka they're going to make you do a ton of paperwork and hope that you never follow through on the thing i always follow through on that stuff well i haven't had to do it in a very long time but did you really i swear to god i got denied i got i did a thing where i bought i bought something returned it and when i it was actually apple i returned it to apple and apple said to me that i returned it too late for them to do it i actually sent the thing i sent back the the phone because it was a broken item sent back the phone they never credited my account but yet they scanned me and showed so i said here's my deal here's all my paperwork and they were still trying to do it so i still had to fight them on the that stinks i had to threaten to cancel my uh my credit card

00:06:35 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 4:

it's crazy at a certain point it was like we have become more we've prioritized policy over people and like when i listen to your situation shannon like they have a policy that they are just forgetting about the human side of life and saying this is what we have to stick to and that's crazy

00:06:50 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Well, and the other thing is that the problem is that you're the victim of the people that are fakers that do this all the time. Right. What's up, Amanda? Hi.

00:07:01 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 6:

Hi, Mojo. Hi, guys. Good morning. Good morning. I can relate to what you're saying and how that is such a bummer. Five years I carried around a gift card. I'm not kidding. Five years it sat in my purse. and I finally last week made the appointment to get a massage between everything that I had going on I finally had like a half day off single mom three kids teenagers really busy I end up getting called in late to work I'm a nurse I had like no choice and I called I asked if I could come in a little late or or rebook and they were just nope and charged me the full amount plus they charged me like a non-member fee so anyway long story short a hundred and thirty dollars no five years

00:07:48 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 5:

of carrying those damn gift cards that's insane that that's awful i almost feel like we should say what the place is just uh what's up sarah hi hi how are you first time mom time

00:07:59 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 7:

um so it might just be me because i'm a little cheap but um i would have said okay well i'm going to send somebody else in my place and then like you and then you could have gone yourself or you could have literally just called one of your girlfriends that's actually a really good idea i

00:08:19 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 5:

wish i would have thought of that i did not sarah we need you to be our smart person that is a really good idea next time ken what's up it's mojo in the morning hey mojo what's going on just working

00:08:30 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 3:

just just working getting the truck unloaded hey thanks man hold on i got it ready here i'm

00:08:36 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 5:

to give you my mind here i'm a little slow there you go what's happening yep i'm here yeah

00:08:43 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 3:

what's going on oh not much i i just i just wanted to say on uh uh that uh you you know for sure that that they called the next person on that cancellation list i know yeah i know yeah As soon as they knew there was a slot open, they were like, oh, yeah, heck, yeah.

00:09:05 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 2:
