This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

My name is Natarika Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

Okay. He's a realtor, and he has a second phone. And it's like a car phone, what he calls it. And we get in fights about paying for it because he says it's for work, but work isn't paying for it, and we can't really afford it.

And this phone is a phone that he just uses in his car? So he keeps it in his car and uses it in his car.

For work. Yes. But work doesn't pay for it. Correct.

But does he then have another phone that he uses and talks to people about work and houses or whatever he does real estate wise?

I mean, he has his like his regular phone that he's had forever. and then there's just this other one that like he won't give me the password to it because it's got

the sensitive company information on it oh that's my first red flag because i feel bad when i bought a house i was texting my realtor like all of the time right weekends late at night whatever so i kind of understand the wanting the separation so you can like shut down at night but the not having

access to it sketchy i i you know i know a lot of uh real estate guys in in women that i they they're kind of work on their own like they don't really work for anybody other than themselves like they kind of sell themselves so i think it's kind of interesting also that he's saying that this is

the company's phone yeah but the company's not paying for it so that's where it's okay like

weird right right but you guys are you guys are paying for it but he's got stuff all right so So you started getting suspicious because of that, but then there's other things that have made you suspicious too.

Yeah, it's just, I don't know. I just, it just, there's something off. And I, I mean, I did finally get, get the phone number from him for the second phone. Like at first he wasn't even going to give me that.

What did you do to get the phone number?

Um, I was in the car one time and it just, he must've used it cause it was unlocked and I called my own phone from it.

Okay.

So I would be able to save that number.

Yeah, we've been married 12 years.

Scott, are you there? did he hang up the phone his his line looked like it looks like it's still on no it's not Layla yeah I mean he started off like he seemed very helpful and then he got to a point where I don't know if you call that being ultra nosy or if he was trying to gather information.

I'm still just confused on the phone number because if you said that this is the number that he uses for quote unquote work, but he told KP something totally the opposite.

Right.

That doesn't make sense to me. How many phones do you think he has?

I just, I don't, I truly don't know what's going on right now. and I'm just, I'm almost even more confused than I was when I called you guys this morning, so.

Is there anybody that's listening that's in this business that can tell us is that common? Just like, do you need multiple phones and do you need to be secretive with your phone number and have another phone? It doesn't sound right.

Do we think he has just two or could there be more?

I don't know. I don't know, but the part about him wanting to know my personal life, I can understand if he's asking me about bedrooms and, like, how many I need, but to ask, like, who is going to be in it, I feel like it's too far.

And personal, like, personal stuff. Yeah. Not just roommates. All right. Hang on one second, Layla.

Allen Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I'm mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department, and I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer.
