This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:00:37 - 00:01:22 | Speaker 1:

My name is Natarika Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

00:01:45 - 00:01:50 | Speaker 3:

While we're waiting, Kev, can I ask you why you went outside to take a poop in the port-a-potty versus using our bathroom?

00:01:50 - 00:02:03 | Speaker 7:

We only got one bathroom in this place. and the way my stomach was going crazy, I've been eating a lot of chili lately because the weather calls for chili. I'm like, babe, we on commercial. I got to go doodle real quick. Let me knock this off. I literally saw him run outside.

00:02:03 - 00:02:05 | Speaker 6:

Was there somebody in the bathroom?

00:02:05 - 00:02:15 | Speaker 7:

Yes, I go in there and I see these white tennis shoes with the black Nikes look like the ones Brendan got on right now. I'm like, y'all got to go. I almost went into the women's restaurant. I'm like, you can't do that. So I go see the security guard.

00:02:15 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 3:

But Lydia and I were in there peeing.

00:02:17 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 7:

I don't see the security guard. I'm like, is there another bathroom? And he's like, nah, bro. I'm like, ah. How cold? wait how cold is it in the uh the port-a-potty it's cold as hell but when you got a doo-doo that's on your mind that's the only thing you worried about i didn't even know there was a port-a-potty outside the security guard told me he was like no it's no bathroom in here but it's

00:02:30 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 3:

a port-a-potty out i was i gotta go bro there's a port-a-potty when we did the turkey shoot it

00:02:36 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 6:

was they were out there i was focused oh hold on do we is is there any does anybody know what the what is going to happen in this building like do we do we know like has anybody called or talk to, should we call the bosses and ask them?

00:02:53 - 00:02:56 | Speaker 3:

What do you mean? Like when other tenants move in and there's still only one bathroom?

00:02:56 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 6:

Are we only going to have, like we do only have one stop. There's got to be a bathroom upstairs. There's got to, but at some point,

00:03:02 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 3:

there's a restaurant going in.

00:03:04 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 7:

Construction is still underway.

00:03:05 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 3:

Where are they going to park?

00:03:07 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 6:

I don't know, but I'm not worried about where they're going to park. I'm worried about where I'm going to park my booty if we do have to go to the bathroom. And the fact that you went to a, it wasn't that bad.

00:03:18 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 7:

Really? You got to go. Listen, I second-guessed it, right? Because I'm like, man, I got to go outside, da-da-da-da-da. I went back in and said, are you going to be in there long? And I didn't hear no, so I had to just go.

00:03:32 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 6:

To me, if I have to go to the bathroom, I'm going in the women's bathroom before I'm going into a port-a-potty that's in 20-degree weather, not even 20-degree weather.

00:03:43 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 3:

Well, again, that wouldn't have helped him because we only have two stalls. I was in one. Lydia was in the other.

00:03:47 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 7:

Lydia was right behind me until we were walking. I figured she was going in there.

00:03:51 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Like, I hate to say this, but I think that if that happens, I'm just doodooing in the bathroom sink.

00:04:00 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 1:

Oh, on a bridesmaid's. Yeah. It's happening. It's happening.

00:04:04 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 6:

I'm going into the bathroom sink, and then I'm cleaning up later. Or doodooing on the floor in a trash can.

00:04:16 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 3:

Hi, this is Colleen. i can't take your call at the moment if you could text me i'd sure appreciate it rather than leaving

00:04:21 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

a message thanks a lot bye-bye how do i text her about duty uh colleen hi calling from the next door studio here right now this is uh mojo uh we had a building uh issue that we wanted to ask you and i don't know what our lease says but do can you please uh just give us a detail on how many toilets do we plan on having in this building eventually uh kevin today almost had to duty on the floor so i just wanted to make sure that uh that you knew that and brought it to your attention and i wanted to text this but i was a little bit worried

00:05:00 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 4:

That duty in text is not a good idea, so I'd leave a verbal message. Thank you. Happy New Year, by the way.

00:05:07 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God.

00:05:08 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 4:

Bye.

00:05:09 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

You know what it's got to be? It's got to be like a, what do they call it? Like a fire call violation or something like that? You know what I mean? You have to have so many exits depending upon the population of people you have. Or handicap spaces depending on how many spots there are. Bathrooms.

00:05:23 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Zach, can you run real quick and just grab the building maintenance guy? What's his name? He also works for the Red Wings. His name is Brandon?

00:05:33 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 5:

Brandon?

00:05:33 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 4:

Brandon. Brandon. Brandon. Not our Brendan, right? No, no, no. But Brandon. Yeah. Brandon, who is Christos' building maintenance man. Christos! And he's got to have the blueprints. I'd like to see what the blueprints...

00:05:49 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 5:

I want to hear Tony's thoughts.

00:05:50 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 4:

We'll call him the poop prince. Should we call Tony?

00:05:54 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. To the battle. Is everybody in that meeting over there? He loves talking about poop. There's a big meeting happening right now.

00:05:59 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 4:

Is this the first one of the year? Yeah. Hold on a second.

00:06:07 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 5:

They have snacks?

00:06:08 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 4:

Tony Travato was at the game late last night, too. I don't think he got out of the parking lot with Christopher and Nick until like two in the morning or something like that. So he may be a little late today.

00:06:20 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 1:

You butthole.

00:06:23 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 4:

Was that a sneeze?

00:06:24 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 6:

Kevin, yawn first, okay?

00:06:25 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 4:

You fall.

00:06:26 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 6:

The yawn's coming next.

00:06:30 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 4:

By the way, I am a sympathetic pooper. Now I have to go to the bathroom. Hello? Tony, hi. What a win, huh? What a win.

00:06:39 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. Yeah, what a win. It was unreal, wasn't it? I thought we were talking about poop, not the honey.

00:06:44 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 4:

Oh, are you listening? Okay, you're listening. Tony's always listening. No, actually, as far as Dan Campbell would say. Holy crap. I love Tony's laugh. have you brought to the attention of uh colleen or maybe the iheart people that we don't have enough stalls because we've talked about this numerous times on our show man it is a it is a

00:07:09 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 2:

huge problem and i've got a porta potty coming to put in the corner of the studio because yeah you walk into that you walk into that bathroom and it's like man you are right on

00:07:19 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 6:

top of the person in the stall or what happens though if there's somebody in the stall and you

00:07:24 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 2:

really really really really need to go which is what just happened to kev or what if you walk in and and the person in the stall had some really bad i know chili bad chili but also tell me why

00:07:38 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 5:

did you say you were going to put the port-a-potty in our studio that just feels rude yeah let's not

00:07:43 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 2:

put it in our studio but the filtration in let's talk about the filtration though in the bathroom

00:07:48 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 4:

because it's it's not good it is but it has to be that they're gonna eventually build more bathrooms somewhere right they'll have more places for us to go to well there's somebody in

00:08:01 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 2:

the building that there has to be because we're the first tenant but there's um uh there's somebody in the building that that had had the best idea that's look for the look for the private bathroom that's elsewhere in the building.

00:08:15 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 4:

There's got to be, right?

00:08:17 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 2:

I haven't figured that out yet.

00:08:18 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 4:

Like the one thing about Christos, he owns a lot of fine establishments. I know this, Greek people go to the bathroom and there's no way that at any of the places that I've ever gone that this man and his family owns has there only been one stall. This is the only place I know that there is that one.

00:08:36 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 1:

I thought that some human being had actually dropped a grumpy. on to the bed

00:08:48 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 4:

but i know that we had to move out of that building that we were in because we were gonna have to pay another month's worth of rent or something like that i miss those bathrooms private stalls and so many it's so funny everything that we hated about that building sometimes does come into play where we're like i guess it really wasn't so bad you know what it is it's like when you move from your kids like as a kid your parents get a new house it should be exciting instead you go oh i'm reminiscing a little bit so all right well uh tony if you can uh you got a department head meeting today can you bring this up in the department head meeting

00:09:25 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 2:

for us yeah i'm very excited to bring that up all right thank you we appreciate it boss talk to you

00:09:31 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 4:

later go lions you guys go line go by the way do you think that the lions how many how many bathrooms do you think they've got? Oh, so many. So many. I bet you they each have their

00:09:42 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 5:

own number. Do you think Dan's is gold?

00:09:46 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

You're at LCA, so you go into the locker room for the Pistons. Do you like, do they have like multiple stalls for, and also are their toilets big stalls? Are they tall stalls for these tall men?

00:10:00 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, and then once you flush, it goes, Detroit! They've taken over cities before, but this July, they're bringing the X Games League Championship home to New Orleans. July 24th through 26th at the Superdome. Over 100 elite athletes competing for the first ever league title. Plus, Metro Boomin, JID, Subtronics, and Bunt performing live. 00:11:00 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 3:

He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day.
