This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:21 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 1:

My name is Metarica, Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, But some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

All right, it is the Mojo in the Morning Show. I'm going to ask you guys a question. Does it make me a bad guy? Do I sound misogynistic if I think this way? Because I want to know. I actually told my wife, who looks phenomenal, by the way. Yes, she does. She's the hottest that I have ever seen her. She is every day looking beautiful. But I told my wife that I think she needs to start wearing tighter clothes. I think that I want to be her fashion consultant. the other day we went out and she was wearing first off she was getting dressed and I was looking at her I'm like wow oh my god I am so in love and she puts on this big sweater and when she puts the big sweater on it looks like a comfy sweater she says that she got this sweater I think she said she got it at J.Crew and it's got like one of those fuzzy sweaters like it's kind of like puffy and fuzzy and stuff like that it's got little things It looks like it's been frayed a little bit or whatever, but it's, I guess, the fashion. And she put, I don't know.

00:03:24 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 3:

I guess. It's like, it's like a teddy bear.

00:03:28 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 4:

It looks like a teddy bear.

00:03:28 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 3:

But is it fashion?

00:03:29 - 00:04:10 | Speaker 4:

And she puts it on. And when she puts it on, I'm going, it's not showing off how rock and hot your body is. So I actually said to her that I think she needs to start wearing tighter clothes. And she took it well. She actually did. But then after I said it, I go, oh, my God, I think I would get canceled for saying something like that. You need to wear tighter clothes, even if it was to my wife. Is it bad for for you as a spouse to to tell your spouse that you feel like their clothes that they're wearing is not flattering enough for them, that they could they actually have the most unbelievable look in the world? And the problem is they're putting clothes on top of it that maybe are covering it up.

00:04:10 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 3:

I don't have a problem with it as long as you have fashion sense. But if you're out here in these streets rocking some bad outfits telling me to dress in tighter clothes, we're going to have a problem.

00:04:21 - 00:04:22 | Speaker 9:

I actually think it's a compliment.

00:04:23 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 4:

You think so?

00:04:23 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 9:

Yeah. And I think a lot of people would disagree with me, but I think it's a compliment because you are saying it not in like a sexual way. You are saying it in a way of you look so great, you should show off your body.

00:04:37 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 4:

And, you know, I, I first off, think as I as as a man who has lost weight, when I would wear clothes that started like fitting a little tighter, people more noticed that that they noticed that I was that I lost weight. And I think that sometimes you see people that lose weight and they they're not wearing clothes that fit them properly. Like they're either wearing their old clothes or they're wearing clothes. They're buying clothes the way that they bought clothes when they were heavier, and what ends up happening is you're buying clothes that aren't showing off all the hard work that you've done.

00:05:10 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 1:

The problem is right now, the style is for everything to be oversized and wide leg and baggy, and it's comfy. Hello?

00:05:19 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 4:

Charles? Hi. Can you hear me?

00:05:23 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 6:

Hello?

00:05:24 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 4:

Hi. Can you hear me? Can you hear me?

00:05:28 - 00:05:29 | Unknown:

I don't think she can hear you, bro.

00:05:29 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 4:

Oh, you can't hear me when I'm talking on the phone like this.

00:05:33 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 6:

Hello?

00:05:34 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 4:

Oh, here, I'm going to call you from the station phone. Hold on one second. Bye. All right, hold on one second.

00:05:40 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 2:

It could also just be a seasonal thing. It may become summertime, you know, she'll get it how you want it. I don't know.

00:05:48 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 7:

No, I definitely dress bad year in the fall and winter than I do in the summer.

00:05:52 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

For sure. So you should ask me in the spring.

00:05:55 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 4:

Hi, how are you?

00:05:57 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 6:

Good, how are you?

00:05:58 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 4:

Good. I was just telling these guys that I'm your new fashion coordinator and that I told you that I think you need to wear tighter clothes.

00:06:09 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 6:

Okay. Was that offensive, Chelsea? That wasn't the offensive comment that he said.

00:06:15 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 2:

Let's get into it.

00:06:18 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 6:

The offensive comment was said a couple days before that where he said, you know, you don't have to lose one more pound, but you really need to tone up.

00:06:26 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 4:

I did not say that. Are you joking? Are you serious? No, I do not. Are you tired? Yes, you do. Explain what we were talking about, though, at the time. You said you needed to lose more weight.

00:06:40 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 6:

I walked past you, and you said you do not have to lose another pound.

00:06:46 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 4:

No.

00:06:46 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 6:

I don't think you meant to be mean. You were trying to be nice, but it was very...

00:06:52 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 4:

You said that you wanted to lose more weight. I said, no, you do not need... And you have said that to me, too, by the way. You have said to me, no, you need to work out. You said when I've lost weight, you said, no, I think you need to also now add working

00:07:07 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 6:

out to this. Okay, stop trying to backpedal. I've never said anything about your physical appearance except that I want you to work out for your heart.

00:07:15 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:07:15 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 6:

That is it. I have never, ever, ever made physical comments about you. Ever.

00:07:20 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 4:

I know you. Ever.

00:07:22 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 6:

Ever.

00:07:22 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 4:

Chelsea has loved me through all my stages.

00:07:27 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 6:

I'm not saying that you meant the tone comment mean, because I don't think you were meaning it to be mean. No. It was, I looked at you and I said, oh my God, I can't believe you just said that.

00:07:37 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. Well, I do, but by the way.

00:07:40 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 6:

And then I went and bought myself something.

00:07:42 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 4:

She was showing me a potential outfit that she was going to wear to the Jingle Ball tonight. And I was looking at it going, oh my God. Why is it? first off i you know i don't during jingle ball i never get a chance to actually spend time with you like it's very very rare that we actually get an opportunity each other but it's it's tough but the outfit is unbelievable it's seriously so hot jeez louise no i'll be hiding in a corner now don't hide no seriously i'm telling you hold on a second tim wants to comment what's up tim hi

00:08:12 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 3:

hi long time listener first time caller yeah I just wanted to make a comment about Mojo's statement. So my fiance just went and did, like, a whole bunch of makeup and stuff for our Christmas party. And I thought she was better the next morning just to, oh, everything wiped off. She has such a natural beauty. I think she overdoes it with the makeup. Like, I hate the glamour shots and all the extra makeup. Like, natural beauty is unstoppable. It's just absolutely, you can't top it. No, it's not.

00:08:43 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 7:

Because every time you put a guy and say which one's natural makeup, they pick just as heavy as makeup. It's just a neutral tone. You don't like natural faces. You just don't like pops of color.

00:08:54 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 3:

Oh, first thing in the morning when she's got it all clean, I would take that over all that makeup any day.

00:09:00 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 4:

I think that there's something sweet about that. Like, I think basically you're saying that you look beautiful the way you are. But I think women like to put that on, especially when they're going out. Hold on. Belle wants to comment. What's up, Belle? How you doing?

00:09:14 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 5:

Mojo, I'm good. How are you guys?

00:09:16 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 4:

I'm good. Say hi to my wife, Chelsea.

00:09:18 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 5:

Hi, Chelsea. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Why am I always biting my tongue when Mojo starts a story involving you, like, hoping he's not going to say something stupid, and it's always something dumb?

00:09:32 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 4:

I didn't say anything stupid. Chelsea repeated a story that I said that was stupid.

00:09:37 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 5:

You have to be nice to your wife.

00:09:39 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 6:

She thinks she's so good. I don't think he was saying that to be mean. I really don't. I think he said things that he doesn't realize how offensive or difficult it can be.

00:09:51 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 4:

I am so proud of you, Chelsea.

00:09:52 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 6:

You've come up the wrong way.

00:09:53 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

Like, I'm proud of Chelsea, and I don't know what, Chelsea, I have no idea what your inspiration is, you know, for.

00:10:00 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 6:

why you have been working as hard as you've been working. It could be that your birthday you just had, it could also be the boyfriend you have. I have no idea. But all I know...

00:10:10 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 8:

I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

00:10:13 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 6:

But I just want to... I want you to know that I love, love, love how much it's made you feel great. So, Meredith, what's up? Save me, Meredith.

00:10:24 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 8:

Long time listener, first time caller. Hey, Meredith! Meredith, son of a phone!

00:10:29 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 6:

Thanks for calling.

00:10:30 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 8:

Um, it is totally a compliment to be told to wear like fitted clothing.

00:10:34 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 6:

So kudos Mojo for no, for noticing. Yeah. So, so if, so if you're, if your husband boyfriend said that to you, you would go, yeah, he loves me and he's just telling me, you know, whatever you wouldn't take.

00:10:47 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 8:

I could not take that as an offensive statement at all. Okay. No, I think that's amazing. So nice Chelsea.

00:10:54 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 6:

Call more often. See that Chelsea, she thinks I'm a wonderful human being,

00:10:59 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 8:

I would be so excited. All the hard work would be paying off because people would be recognizing that I look good.

00:12:05 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 6:

Yes. See? There you go.

00:12:07 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 7:

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:14:03 - 00:14:48 | Speaker 2:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.
