Hey guys, Bobby Bones here, host of The Bobby Bones Show. I'm always tired, because I wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning. But it's all worth it, because I get to hang out with all my friends and my studio. We share our lives. We look for as much good in the world as we possibly can with Tell Me Something Good. And we talk through the biggest news stories of the day, and also your biggest and favorite country artists are always stopping by. On the Gulf Coast, check us out on 95KSJ, and lock us in as a preset on the free iHeartRadio app today.

00:00:29 - 00:00:39 | Speaker 2:

It's Mojo in the Morning Show. I have to bring this up because I was a little concerned yesterday after the show. I was concerned about the health and wellness of all of us.

00:00:40 - 00:00:41 | Speaker 3:

What do you mean?

00:00:41 - 00:00:47 | Speaker 2:

Why did you come to bed? I was just funny. We have been abandoned, guys. Oh.

00:00:47 - 00:00:48 | Speaker 4:

We have.

00:00:48 - 00:01:25 | Speaker 2:

For those that don't know, our radio studios, the official Mojo in the Morning studios, our Detroit base, is going to be moving to a new location, and we're getting all these nice equipment, new studios. We're going to be right in downtown Detroit, right by Ford Field, Eastern Market area. Well, they moved the office staff down there yesterday, and yesterday we were abandoned. We were left for dead. We were literally in the squalors of this building.

00:01:25 - 00:01:27 | Speaker 3:

Are you talking about something in particular?

00:01:27 - 00:01:49 | Speaker 2:

Well, I'm talking a couple of things. Number one, we found out that they canceled our cable television. So that was one thing that was wrong. So cable was canceled, or they didn't pay the next month's bill because they didn't want to have to pay for another month. And number two, most importantly, all of the paper product for us to go to the bathroom was completely gone.

00:01:49 - 00:02:03 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God. Did you see what they put in the bathroom instead? What did they put? Because they didn't put anything in ours. Well, they put toilet paper as a hand dryer. The one that's like, you can barely even wipe with it because it dissolves like cotton candy.

00:02:04 - 00:02:08 | Speaker 4:

You know we got that one ply because our company really likes to go above and beyond.

00:02:08 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 3:

It's less than one ply. You guys got lucky.

00:02:11 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 2:

If you got that in your bathroom, you know what the guys got in their bathroom? What? Nada. We got nothing.

00:02:17 - 00:02:21 | Speaker 3:

You want to know if you wash your hands? Y'all don't wash your hands anyway. Yeah, that's true. Cut the cat.

00:02:21 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 4:

No, half of the women around here don't wash their hands either. It's very gross. Like, I can hear you walk past the sinks and not turn it on. Like, I know you didn't wash your hands. But the worst part about our bathrooms here on top of that is that our toilet dispenser doesn't actually turn. So you only get one square of tissue at a time.

00:02:40 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:02:40 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 4:

Drives me nuts.

00:02:41 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 2:

Well, let me just say this to you. I had to go to the bathroom multiple times yesterday. Of course, wouldn't you know it? On the day that we had this happen to us. And then the other, the most important, even more important than being able to have something to wash and wipe with, the temperature of the studio yesterday was 8,000 degrees. I don't think I sweat more in my life going into a red light sauna than I did in the studios yesterday. A blaze. It was crazy. So I wanted to ask this question, and I get it. We're moving to a new building. Why buy stuff for this building? But we're not gone yet. We're still here. Where are the kids? Where are the kids left behind? At least. I feel like Kevin from Home Alone. At least paper towel. Like, we're not asking for a lot.

00:03:24 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 3:

Well, yesterday was the first day the sales team was at the new building. They're all living it up in Eastern Market, and we were here just, like, without anything. We didn't even have the scraps. I bet they had paper towels and toilet paper. I bet they had both. And Rhonda from the other station came in this morning. He goes, KP, do you guys have a Keurig? And I'm like, no, we only have an espresso. And they're like, they took the Keurig machine.

00:03:47 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 2:

So here's the interesting thing. I was looking at social media yesterday of all the salespeople excited about the new digs. And then I looked at Jay Tower Social, and he was down there yesterday for the first time. I'm like, what? How did Jay get dibs on the new building way before we did? Between Charlemagne the God and Kamala Harris getting in our studios before we got in our studios. How is this? I would love to ask this question. I don't know if any listeners can tell us. I feel like we're in a foreclosed house right now, and we're squatting. What's the longest that anybody has ever or known of somebody ever that has squatted in a house before they got kicked out? Because I got a feeling that we're going to have the bank building or the bankers come, and they're going to kick us out of this place. Well, how long are we supposed to be here? How long do we have to deal with this? I thought that it was supposed to be November the 15th or something like that. Oh, geez. Did you call her? Why did you call her?

00:04:42 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 1:

I did. Come on.

00:04:43 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 2:

I did it this early in the morning so that she wouldn't hear us. Do it. Our boss, Colleen Grant, is on the phone with us right now. The president of iHeart Detroit is on the phone with us right now. Colleen. Do I have to come wipe your butt now?

00:04:58 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

Yes, ma'am.

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 6:

that's in my new contract I'm putting toilet paper in the new contract after this one Colleen did you guys move the toilet paper and the paper towel too what happened

00:05:12 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 7:

you know I'm just trying to keep all the balls in the air I get it all the balls are in the air if you will

00:05:20 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 6:

actually don't worry

00:05:21 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 7:

don't worry we did

00:05:23 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 6:

an Instacart order we ended up getting some stuff So, Colleen, yesterday, and I know that this was not done intentionally, but I think it's tough. Like, you know how when you move, if you move, like, your apartments and stuff, you always don't know where things are. It's like we're looking in boxes. We're trying to figure this stuff out.

00:05:41 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 4:

Colleen, I had to hold it all the way home because I knew I wasn't going to have paper towels.

00:05:45 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 6:

That's right.

00:05:46 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 7:

There's eight and a half by 11 paper in a copy machine. Oh, thank you.

00:05:51 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 6:

I actually, Colleen, this is no joke. I walked around to people's desks and cubicles to see if they had like puffs tissues or something like that.

00:06:00 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 8:

Oh, I'll get that fixed, you guys.

00:06:03 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 6:

No, no, we know. We love you. We're coming down, by the way, today for a look, a first look for Kevin and Megan. I haven't seen the new studios yet.

00:06:14 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 8:

You guys can steal some toilet paper.

00:06:16 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 6:

Oh, believe me. Wait till you see. By the way, the toilet paper in the new building is our landlord's, right? Christos? Yeah, it's much softer than what we provide. I'm going to tell you, I mean, that guy is like, he's bougie. So I'm guessing we're going to get like puffs, you know, 12-ply or something.

00:06:33 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 3:

Medicated wipes. With the lotion in them.

00:06:35 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. I'm excited for this. How was the first day, by the way? How did everybody like it?

00:06:41 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 8:

It was great. You know, there are the kinks to work out, but everybody was excited, and it looks beautiful, and we can't wait to have you guys there, too. So come on down.

00:06:49 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 6:

Excited. We are so excited. And, Colleen, I'm going to tell you, you have made this process so great. Not only has she given us the ability to be able to have this nice new studio, which people are going to love our new studio. It's seriously, out of any of the iHeart Studios, I think we got even better than what Ryan Seacrest has. But this is the other thing. She worried about our safety, so we got good parking and everything like that. That's incredible. and last but definitely not least out of the whole deal she picked an area of town that has great restaurants for us to be able to get breakfast every morning she's thought of it all

00:07:26 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 8:

you did colleen we love the eastern market businesses we love them oh it's gonna be great

00:07:31 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 6:

colleen we love you we'll talk to you later okay love you guys too see you soon all right we'll see you soon if we by the way call us before the landlord kicks us out of here i don't want to get kicked out before like i don't want to be in the middle of war of the roses and have the landlord say i gotta leave and i'll bring toilet paper today i promise i love you take care hope what's happening hey what's going on what's going on with you hope we're talking about how long can

00:07:54 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 5:

you squat uh were you a squatter no i was not but i do know people that were in a house uh for three years that i didn't know they were actually squatting and it was crazy because they were like renting out rooms and everything and then just one day they packed up and left and a whole new group of people moved in and they squatted all last winter oh my gosh so wait how long can

00:08:18 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 6:

you do it before they they kick you out and then when they kick you out what do you do

00:08:22 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 5:

like how do they get you out the crazy thing is is like people will just show up and put your stuff out and lock the doors and put up a no trespassing but the reason these people got away with it is Because I guess the owner was in prison.

00:08:38 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 6:

Oh, my gosh. They must have knew him then. They knew that house was empty.

00:08:41 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:08:42 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 6:

That's craziness.

00:08:43 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 5:

They moved in legitimately, and then the guy went to prison, and then she just stayed there.

00:08:49 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 6:

That is absolutely wild. It always amazes me when you hear of these people that will go into somebody else's home when they just go on vacation and then won't leave the home.

00:09:02 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 3:

The concept of squatting doesn't make sense to me. Can someone explain this to me?

00:09:05 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 6:

Squatting means that they go into a house that's not theirs, but claim it as theirs.

00:09:09 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 3:

Okay, and they can stay there.

00:09:11 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 6:

They do just stay, because I think that the laws are kind of vague on if you can kick the people out of a home that they called their own.

00:09:21 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 1:

Because it's protecting tenants from bad landlords. I see. So there's loopholes that people can take advantage of that are used to protect people in other cases.

00:09:30 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 6:

So who paying a light bill? Well, let's ask somebody. Danny, you were a squatter for how long? I squatted for two years. Really? And Danny, when you squatted for two years, who paid to keep the lights on?

00:09:45 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 2:

Well, the thing that happened was it happened a long time ago during the financial crisis. I lived in Chicago, and the landlord passed away, and his family didn't want to pay the mortgage. But my roommate and I weren't going to pay them any of the money because they weren't.

00:10:00 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 3:

paying the mortgage so we decided just to not pay anyone but mail the checks to ourselves so in case anyone ever said anything we're like well we sent them you didn't cash oh so you sent them right to your place that you were actually living in yeah the building tried to get us to pay but i was like you can contact an attorney because we don't have to pay you they never did they just thought we

00:10:21 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 2:

would pay how is mailing a check to yourself proving that you were paying the rent i i just

00:10:26 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 3:

They didn't see the address. I just put a date stamp, so it showed the date.

00:10:31 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. Damn. I still don't get it. You're responsible for the crash. So basically, he was sending them to the residence that he was at, saying that the landlord used to have him send them there. That's all you mean. So that's how he was able to do it. You know what? You guys, I'm telling you, the criminals are smarter than the criminals.

00:10:48 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 3:

I paid off my student loans. You know, I went on vacations. I went skiing out west. I lived the life. Okay, baby.

00:10:54 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 2:

How did you end up getting caught, or how did you leave?

00:10:57 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 3:

I mean, after two years, I decided to buy a place in Chicago and move out. Oh, so the next day, it was funny.

00:11:03 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 2:

Nobody ever came and got you.

00:11:04 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 3:

You just went on your own. The sheriff came the next day. I was literally moving out, but he came the next day.

00:11:10 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 4:

That's nuts. Wow. Well, if you'd like to squat in an office building. Voices Guys T, initial T? Yes, I'm here. What's going on? Were you a squatter?

00:11:21 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 1:

I was not a squatter, but I had someone. It happened to me in 2020. my husband was suffering from a mental health issue so i had to flee my home which was obviously sad and tragic but after i left he had moved some people in then they managed to get him arrested and then they told the police that they lived there it was a mess oh my gosh so you're dealing

00:11:40 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 4:

with all this stuff that's happening with you know the health issues of your husband and some people just came in and kind of took over your place correct and then when i told the police

00:11:50 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 1:

after they got him arrested and they didn't belong there. It was a mess. They told them that they were renting from my husband. It was court. It was police. It was horrible.

00:11:59 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 4:

Oh, my God.

00:12:00 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 1:

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

00:12:00 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 4:

That's horrible. Yeah. Did you get rid of that place?

00:12:05 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 1:

I did. We unfortunately had to move, yes.

00:12:08 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 4:

Wow. Well, if anybody needs anything, they can come here. They just got to bring toilet paper. I'm going to give away concert tickets to Jingle Ball, And the thing is going to be a BYOT, bring your own toilet paper and BYOP, bring your own paper towels.
