something to Goodwill yes I had two boxes that I was dropping off at Goodwill and I had taken a trip down to Toledo I spent the holidays really are most of our breakdown in Toledo with my friends and my family and I I'm very grateful for my brother because I keep a lot of my stuff at his house so like I have a blow dryer just at my brother's house I don't have to pack a lot of things I can just like get up and go but the one thing i take back and forth with me is my curling iron and it is i'm not gonna lie a very expensive curling iron i feel like the one thing i spend money on is hot tools every once in a while they last like 10 years and they're kind of a couple hundred bucks yeah they're kind of expensive and i misplaced my curling iron and i have been so angry i i went to my dad's apartment i dug through the whole place i'm like maybe i left it there i went to my brother's house dug through the whole place i went through their cars i could not find it anywhere. So yesterday I'm at Goodwill and I'm donating these boxes. And as I'm handing a box over to the guy, again, it's like what, negative 10 degrees yesterday. As I'm handing this box over, I go, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, because I see this black cord hanging out of this box. And I know that is my expensive chronic iron. So he puts the box down and I'm digging through this. I'm throwing clothes, purses, you know, toys everywhere. And I reached down in the bottom of the box i have no idea how i got there it is my curling iron but i feel i felt so guilty handing this box off of donations and then going hold on not everything yeah you don't get this and i i was just so grateful that i had caught it but wondering uh what did people donate and maybe that they didn't catch or did you ever feel guilty saying oh wait not that or have you ever had to pay to

get it back like what did they what happens if you would have donated that and you would have put that in the box and then you had to come back a day later they probably wouldn't believe you would they no megan have you been donating all your old clothes because i've been donating a bunch of old clothes and i'm telling you i know i've left five ten dollars in a pocket or two

so i was really grateful my brother and i went through all of the clothes and he was on pocket search and i was on pile duties of the keep and get rid of and then he went through all the get

rid of stuff can i tell you a story you guys yeah so i donate to the salvation army uh and the one by my house i always donate and there's a guy that fields it in the back of the place like you they're standing out there on the the dock or whatever and i put the bags up on top for the guy the guy is about what my size was he's a bigger dude okay and so i would say to him hey man i said hey i got a couple of things inside there that honestly i maybe wore a couple of times and they would fit you. You should get them and take them. So the guy's like, really? What do you got? And he would take them out of the thing and I would give him no. That's for him. He got fired. Shut up. Oh, are you kidding me? The last time I went over to the Salvation Army, I said, hey, where's the guy? They said, oh, he's been taking things. I go, taking what things? We caught him on video taking items of her donation. Wait, I told him he could take things out of my bag. I just want them used.

And also fair game to me if you're volunteering your services. Seriously.

My goal is I want somebody to use them. I don't care if they make a dime or two off of the thing.

I donate to the same place all the time. And if they were taking stuff before they took it, I don't know. Right? And I know it's all volunteers that work at this particular place. So to me, I'm like, I accidentally donate your hat. Accidentally. Yeah, okay. You know it was accidentally because then I went and bought one. I wanted it back. But, yeah, I mean, that does happen.

Uh, Megan, I donated three things in the last year. All of them accidentally donated, could never get them back because they didn't know where they were. I wonder, do they keep all the items at the same place? Like the place that you donate, Megan, do they sell it right there or what do they do with it? I'm not sure.

I don't know. I feel like they also probably get rid of a bunch of stuff. Like I bet a lot of stuff that's donated should just be trash.

Hi, Mojo. Hey. So I donated a purse that had photos in it from Glamour Magazine. I was in Glamour Magazine in 1984, and I wanted to make copies. I wanted to make copies for my husband because I won, like, a great face contest, and he wanted pictures of it. So he wanted a big picture of it. So I was going to go and have it made, forgot they were in my purse, donated the purse, and couldn't get them back. They were the only copies I had of the photo shoot.

I wonder if you can archive Look Up that magazine because that's a long time ago.

Right. It was like just before they started doing that, I guess.

Oh, wow. Well, that sucks. That's horrible. At least it wasn't what John had. John, what did you accidentally donate, John?

It was a food drive for school, and they say get canned goods. So my mom said, go to the cupboard, get whatever you want. And got the canned peas and some other stuff. Well, the peas were actually container-holding jewelry. So it was like a diamond bracelet and necklace. And someone had a great holiday, I guess. And they didn't figure it out until it was gone. Never thought to look.

How much money are we talking about in jewelry was donated by accident?

I don't know. I was a kid, but my parents weren't very happy, and they still talk about it today. But it was still a diamond bracelet. I know they always talk about the diamond bracelet, so it's still a diamond bracelet.

What a story. I think I would honestly at that point be so disappointed I wanted my beans. I was like, why am I opening up some guy's jewelry here or some woman's jewelry? Kelly, same situation. Megan, thank God it was just a curling iron. What happened to you, Kelly?

I donated my wedding ring and my husband's wedding ring. Oh, no. Hit it in my robe pocket because I was going out of town. And then a couple, like, I don't know, weeks later, I donated the robe and didn't realize it for about a month.

Oh, my God.

I went to every place trying to find it again, but never did find it.

That's crazy. You put it in a robe. Were you guys fighting with each other, and that's why you had it in the robe?

No, we were divorced, and I had moved into a new home, and I wasn't familiar with the area, and I was going out of town. So I thought, well, I'm just going to stick it in this robe pocket. And then next thing you know, I went looking for the ring. And I realized that I had stuck it in this robe pocket and donated it.

It's like a homemade safe. You put it in. That's interesting. So you put your valuables in pockets of clothes. That's interesting.

Well, I've learned my lesson.

That's your safe. That's your homemade safe that you put it in. Now I'm going to start going through the pockets of people's pants at the Salvation Army. Now that they're looking for a guy at the Salvation Army that I go for. Can you believe they fired that guy? That's terrible.

The guy, I was giving him my clothes. I was telling him to take them, and they said that the guy, they fired him because he was taking clothes. They worked at the Salvation Army. Give him the clothes. They were donated.

They probably didn't believe him, though. Well, who cares? I'm going to say, if you see a guy at work taking clothes, that looks like stealing. If you ask him what happened and he says, oh, the guy told me I could take him, they probably didn't believe him. They probably thought he was stealing.

I feel bad, and I should probably go in there and say something. I said something to the guy that I pulled up.

That's the purpose.
