All right, it is Mojo in the Morning. It's extremely sweet how many people over the course of the last few days have been asking me through text message or through DMs. And, you know, people have even honestly been emailing me through our station's email address asking me how my son's doing, how Joe's doing because of Hurricane Milton. Yesterday, I felt like I was answering every five seconds a couple of text messages of people just asking how things are going. I do want to let you know that Joe text me late, late, late last night. It was in the middle of the night as the hurricane was hitting where he was. He evacuated to Orlando, which Orlando is about an hour and 15 or 20 away from Tampa. And he, along with his girlfriend Alyssa, evacuated there. Jed and Ashley from the Joe Show, they evacuated to families' homes in other parts of Florida. And then they combined did their shows in different locations, which you can obviously check out if you go to the Joe Show on Instagram and Facebook or if you go listen to them on 93.3 FLZ. Um, he said he was scared. He said he was worried, but he was more so worried about, um, what was going on back in Tampa and not so much what was happening to him when he was in Orlando. And, uh, it, it's not good. And for anybody that, uh, has any family in Florida, check on your family members that are towards the Sarasota area too, because they got really, really pummeled by this thing. Um, hurricane Milton was tough. It turns out right now they're saying that this could be the second largest hurricane causing the most damage to Katrina. That was obviously one of the most devastating of all hurricanes ever. I was watching a lot of the news and then it got to a point yesterday that I had to turn it off because it just became a point where I was getting more and more anxiety. I mean, I was watching at points. I was flipping between CNN, the Weather Channel, and then Fox News and some of the other different news people that were out there. I saw Anderson Cooper. Did you see this at all?

Oh, my God, yes.

He got pummeled.

And the water now is really starting to pour over. If you look at the ground, whoa.

He's got hit by a projectile.

That wasn't good. We'll probably go inside shortly. But you can see.

to know for everyone watching who is very concerned obviously about all of our correspondents and anchors on the ground anderson is okay just obviously understandably difficult to establish a connection when you're seeing what's happening yeah so it it got to be crazy i these guys

obviously want to give us the visuals of what's going on i think they're crazy you know what i mean like i i think standing out there like i saw some of the guys from the weather channel where they were being just destroyed by the amount of wind and water that was coming in surge. And then I wanted to know, how does iHeart not have equipment that can work in a drizzle outside when the Weather Channel has equipment that works during massive hurricanes that happen? And I'm thinking to myself, are we not buying the equipment from the same place or what? So I want to get into a topic here that I think that could be interesting to hear what your thoughts are. So I asked Joe as he was leaving and he left a day and a half ago to go up to Orlando because they had to. They were told it's a mandatory evacuation. You have to leave. So he luckily was able to get a hotel room just outside of the Orlando area. And I said, so what did you do? And he was telling me all the things that he was doing to prepare for this. Like, for instance, he packed a few days of clothes because they were told you may not come back until Monday. Like, there's a possibility that if the storm hits on Wednesday, that you guys still may not even be allowed to come back because the bridges might be closed, just like there was for Helene. um he also said that he grabbed some things that were of value to him like some pictures and stuff of you know our family and and some of the things that he's done over the years he grabbed some of his nikes that he didn't want to lose he grabbed his star wars memorabilia oh my god that that he had uh and then he grabbed some bank records and things like that because i think his mom said to him hey you probably should forget about the star wars stuff and grab like things that you're going to need to know you know just in case you get locked out of any apps or any kind of stuff online but i wanted to ask you guys this question not the necessities that you need like a clothing like underwear and things like that not pets and well definitely you got to grab pets right right that's what i'm saying like aside from those things um what would be the oddest thing that you would grab if you had to evacuate in the form of a hurricane. We are so lucky that we don't have to do this. I know. Tornadoes, to me, are scary. But if we can go in our basement and stay safe, that's way better than in these things that were tornadoes upon hurricanes. You can't go into a basement and stay safe with these things. What would you guys grab?

I sound like a terrible human being saying this, but I would grab some of my purses.

No, that makes sense. I would. That makes sense. I would. I don't have a Dior. But I would grab those because those were.

I immediately thought rice cooker because I use that every day. Rice cooker. I use it every day. I don't want to wait for like four-day shipping for a new one. Like, yeah. He said stupid things. He didn't say what's the most meaningful thing that you own.

And I would also grab my pillow because this pillow is like heaven on my bed. and I will never find the same one again so I'm taking my pillow. Along the same

lines my electric blanket it's like it's bluetooth controlled so I can control it from my phone while I'm in bed it's king size they're both individual sides are controlled like independently definitely taking that I got you. What about you Kat?

What would you do? I mean I'm with Joe I got some cool pairs of shoes that I definitely would keep and I don't know I would get Josiah's Mac and Mini, because all his drawings and all his artwork is on there, so I'd have to run and go get that. And then probably my other phone, because who knows what's on that.

You don't want to leave it behind, just in case.

KP, what would you grab? What would you take out?

Probably the guitar my dad gave me when I was like 13, because it's the first guitar, well, actually not the first, but one of the first my favorites. And you can't replace things if family members gave you. That's sentimental.

Is there anything sentimental that you got besides that? Like, would you take pictures or anything like that?

yeah see I I know that we have them on our phone but there's ones I don't have on my phone there's ones like I don't have a lot of the baby baby stuff and I don't have like the pictures of my mom with me like I have frames in my house like I would we have in our bedroom Chelsea and I in our bedroom we have a bookshelf and she's got like one section and I got one section of the bookshelf where it's all the pictures of us with our her grandfather and her me and my mom and dad and there's honestly very few pictures that i have of me with my parents i would be like i'd be getting a duffel bag together and throwing all that stuff you said baby stuff i

would grab smith and loose baby stuff like the outfit they came home from the hospital like those sorts of things yeah no seriously because those are those are there's no duplicates my boy

We did. We didn't get hit as bad as Sarasota and Bradenton in that area, so we're praying for them. But I just wanted to give you a quick update on them. And, you know, with Jacksonville, we, you know, it's calmed down over here. The wind is, you know, pretty minimal. The damage is pretty minimal. So thank God for that. But be praying for the people in Bradenton and Sarasota and that area and St. Pete because everyone there is flooded. And, oh, it's terrible. And just another notice, I wanted to say one of my coworkers, she didn't think about bringing sheets to, you know, sleep in the hospital. She didn't think about all that. She just brought in her dang waffle maker.

I get it. Back to the hospital.

The freaking roof was torn off it. Holy cow.

Now that was the area where they housed all the cots for people who were there that were going to be stranded and who couldn't evacuate had an opportunity to go somewhere safe. And emergency service people, yeah. Were people already

there? Yeah, they did all the line people at Tropicana Field and then kaboom, the top just ripped right off. I couldn't believe it when I saw the video. I thought

they moved them before the storm hit.

Was it pretty emotional for you to see this and to see the town that you live in get hit as hard as it did?

Well, just more so. It's almost unbelievable because you just see like Clearwater Beach. It's just like almost, it's like I'm living in, what's the one movie? Twister? Groundhog Day. Groundhog. It's like, yeah, it's like a week later, the same exact thing happens to Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach. And I, it's just hard to wrap your head around. I can't even, so I live in Pinellas County in Florida. I can't even get back in until the, until Pinellas County says I can get back in. They're asking everybody to either remain in place or people not to return because the damage to the roads and the down power lines and people trying to get in the down power lines and stay in the water, they're asking people to stay in their homes. So I'm trying to get texts to my neighbors to see if I can get a hold of them and see what it looks like, but it's not looking too good.

Well, you know what? Things can be replaced. I'm just praying that there are people, you know, like we talked to Joe yesterday. He told us about Terry and her parents. I'm just hoping that nobody got hurt there.

that was a huge concern as well and then I saw that it hit Siesta Key dead on and I was just like I'm just all over the place right now man

yeah we texted her last night and just some texts throughout the morning but it seems like they got some flooding down there but I don't know what the full details are just yet

going to be later today i gotta double check to see when they're going to end wall-to-wall storm coverage but i mean i would like to get back and talk with people just as just for just for everybody's sanity because everybody's tired of hearing oh milton's at 135 miles an hour i think what they need right now is they need people to be like, Hey, like, you know, your house is underwater, but like, come and have a conversation with us type of thing. They don't want to hear, they don't want to hear 12 foot of storm surge and they're tired of hearing all that stuff. So I want to be there. I think we all need to be there and be a distraction for all these people who have either lost their homes or are scared and don't know where to go or afraid to ask for help.

Well, the second thing is kind of a recap from yesterday. I was the person that text about my carpet guy sleeping on my carpet, so that was me.
