I mean, I didn't do anything with him. I picked him up from school, and I don't know if they were, not school, but, like, vacation school or whatever, summer camp. All of a sudden, he started asking me, and he's never asked me this before, but he asked to learn how to drive. And he's 12 years old. I don't think I started learning how to drive that early. Like, I might have did the whole sit in your dad's lap and, like, hold the wheel. And I think I might have done that maybe once or twice with Josiah. But I also don't feel like I need to teach him how to drive. I feel like there are professionals that can do that.

Well, wait, he asked you, said, hey, will you do this? And this is a good bonding moment. I actually think that you should be the one that gets behind the wheel with him before he even does any of his pre-stuff. Which, by the way, it starts early and earlier. Like, I didn't start until I think I was, like, 15. Now they start at, like, 14 in, like, three months or something like that. It's like something crazy in the state. In Michigan, especially, they do something. They start early. Think about this. Josiah, you said, is 12?

He's going to be 13 in how much?

Okay, so he's six months away from being 13 years old, basically, or a little longer than that. Think about that one year from now that you're going to be preparing him for a driver's ed class because at 14 years old is when you start looking for that.

I'm good. I think a driving instructor, someone who knows how to handle children, and plus the people that have the gas and the brake on both sides of the car. I remember one time when I started driving, I had a driver instructor. He took me to, like, the back of a bank. I was kind of scared because I'm like, why are we here? What are you about to do with me?

Was he teaching you how to be a getaway driver or something?

I don't know. What was going on? Like, sir, where are the cones? Like, what's going on? But he told me to back into a parking spot. Yeah. and I slammed on what I thought was the brake and it was the gas and if he didn't have the brake on his side we would have went through that brick wall I love Josiah but what am I going to do if he hit the gas and not the brake

go somewhere if there's no other cars that's one of my favorite memories with my dad is him teaching me how to quote unquote drive he had a little MG convertible actually he still has it and we would go in the Knights of Columbus parking lot and there would be nobody else there and he would teach me. It was so fun. That's all Josiah wants to do. He doesn't want to get out on the road.

Shannon, that was actually mine too. My favorite moments were not so much my dad, but my big brothers. My big brothers taking me out driving. We also had a riding tractor, a riding lawnmower. You did? Yeah, because we had a lot of lawn. So we used to have like this riding lawnmower that we'd do. So I'd take that thing sometimes up to go get ice cream and be driving down the street. People would be looking like, what's that guy doing? But then with my kids, with my three sons, I would take them to OCC, the community college's, you know, parking lot. It was a huge parking lot. And I would go there on weekends sometimes and just let them go crazy. I'm not going to lie to you. I was fearful when they were driving around like light poles.

You know, but I was like, you would sit there and scream at them, or you could reach over and put the thing, the gear shift and park, you know? Won't you ruin your car like that? Well, look at that.

Josiah is such a responsible kid. It's not like he's going to go nuts.

I know, but all responsibility goes to the wayside when you're having fun.

I'm shocked. You're usually an experienced guy with Josiah.

Yeah, you're no fun. We can go go-kart racing all you want, but getting behind the wheel of an actual vehicle, I'm going to need you to go to school for a minute.

We went for dinner and margaritas, and my mom had her car, my dad had his car, and my dad was like, I'm not feeling it. Back then, honestly, I think people were driving drunk all the time, but my dad was responsible. He let a 13-year-old sober kid learn how to drive at that time. What's going on, Kristen?
