Mojo in the morning show. It's Father's Day weekend. Shannon wants to know who should be the one getting the Father's Day gift.

00:01:42 - 00:02:26 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, it's kind of like an interesting situation. And it's mostly, well, when it comes to my kids and Wes's kids. So is it me buying for my ex, Andrew? Am I supposed to buy on behalf of Wes's kids? It's a very delicate situation. And I feel like it's ever changing as everybody moves forward in their relationships. And so Wes very much believes that because I am his partner, I am his fiance, that I should be the one helping his kids with everything Father's Day related, which is like the most important holiday to him. So instead of Father's Day, like above instead of their mom, his ex, instead of his ex-wife.

00:02:27 - 00:02:27 | Speaker 1:

OK.

00:02:27 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 5:

And so I am. So he so myself and his two kids, we've got plans. We've got cards. We've got gifts. We've got this the whole Sunday planned. And so his ex-wife really doesn't have anything to do with it. And so I but I'm like, I need to make sure like I always want to make sure Andrew is covered as well, because obviously he's the father of Lucy and Smith. So I feel like I need to reach out to his fiance and make sure that she did something with my kids. It's the weirdest situation in the past. What have you done? So it's kind of it's it's been changing. So at Christmas time, I think it was Wes had said to me, I'm going to take Luce and Smith out to get you a Christmas gift. And Andrew was like, well, wait a second. They're my kids and you are their mom. So I like I will always make sure that I know I do something with them and take them. It got like kind of muddy. Right. Right.

00:03:26 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 1:

Well, actually, you could have just gotten double the gifts.

00:03:29 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 5:

Well, I didn't want to do that, but it's just like you don't want to step on anybody's toes, right? But you want to make sure that all of the dads are covered and that they're getting, you know.

00:03:40 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 1:

It's interesting because Wes has a totally different philosophy than what you guys have done.

00:03:43 - 00:03:44 | Speaker 5:

In the past.

00:03:44 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 1:

In the past. For sure. And I actually tend to think the way that you were doing it was good. And not to say that I don't think it's cool. I think it's nice that you do take Wes's kids out, but I also feel like those kids were made with the mom. And, you know, if she's got still a decent relationship, why not just give the kids money and or go with them and say, hey, pick something out and I'll buy it. Like, I think that's actually a good I think that's a good thing. It's still I think here's the deal. Like if I'm thinking about it in a case of if Chelsea and I were divorced, Chelsea and I were divorced. I would hope that it would be me taking my boys out to go buy their mom something and her doing that. Just because I think it makes it more personal because of our relationship of parenting the kids.

00:04:33 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

Right. Right. So we were out the other day. Actually, like, we were just at, like, a paper source getting, you know, all kinds of little things for, like, graduation parties and Father's Day. And I was with Lucy and Smith, and they were like, oh, they found a card that they wanted to get for Andrew. And I was like, yeah, of course, we're going to buy it. And actually, I already have a gift for him that I bought months and months ago, like actually before Christmas that I thought, oh, this will make a great Father's Day gift to him. So I have it. But now I'm like, is that overstepping?

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 7:

my boundary in his relationship with his fiance to have the kids give that

00:05:03 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 3:

to him. I don't know. Am I overthinking this? I think you are because it's not coming from you. It's not like you giving a gift. I know it's coming from you, but it's like you're just protecting your kids and making sure your kids are doing the right thing.

00:05:15 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 1:

Even if you wanted to give him a gift, I still don't think that's an issue. He's the father of your kids.

00:05:22 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 7:

I just don't want to step on the toes of the woman in his life. If she was going to do something. That's what I'm saying. It's a very delicate it like you're you're walking on eggshells a little bit she should do what she's gonna do

00:05:37 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 1:

and i don't think you have to dim your light so she can shine bright oh if that makes sense yeah i like that you know what i mean like you don't have to lower yourself to protect her like no

00:05:46 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 7:

she should step up i'm not lowering myself i just i'm trying to be respectful but but and west too

00:05:51 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 2:

with that with the situation with uh with his kids or with him buying something for your kids with your ex-husband, Andrew, and that. Like, I think that, like, the whole idea, like, oh, wait a second, why is he taking the kids out for Christmas and stuff like that? Like, I think it's wonderful if everybody's just like, because I think for the kids' sake, it's nice to see that, oh, cool, I get to go buy my mom something, or cool, I get to go buy my dad something. And I think it's neat that everybody's, like, happy and good and stuff, unless the things that you're buying are inappropriate things or crappy things. You know what I mean? Like, if you're buying something And just because you want to, like, spite, I think that's where the wrong comes in. Ari, what did you want to say to Shannon?

00:06:31 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 5:

I was going to say I come from a family household. So what we always used to do is my mom would get me money, and I would get a gift for my dad. But I would also get a gift to my stepdad, too. And it was, like, the same thing. So everybody kind of gets double the gift.

00:06:43 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. So what we were talking about, it's like, everybody just do it. Just do everything that you need to do, and don't worry about it. Don't read into it.

00:06:51 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, it doesn't have to be anything, like, extra. You know what I'm saying? You don't have to read into it. It's just like, hey, go get this for your dad. And the kids really like spending that time with you and being able to pick that out.

00:07:00 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 2:

Absolutely. Kids love it. Kids actually love when they go out and they're able to, you know, kind of have some fun. What's going on? It's Mojo in the Morning. Carly, hi.

00:07:10 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 6:

Hi, Carly. Hi. What's up? Hello, Shannon, Mojo. Good. Shannon, you guys have such phenomenal co-parenting relationships as it is. Like, I just think you should reach out to his fiancée and just ask her, hey, is this something you plan on doing? Letting her know, like, you're fully content with her helping your children. And if she is, wonderful. If not, go do it. Yeah.

00:07:37 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 1:

Does that change, though?

00:07:37 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 6:

You guys have such great relationships. Yeah.

00:07:41 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 1:

What was that, Kat? What did you say? So if you do, I think that's phenomenal, by the way, Carly. Great suggestion. Reach out to the fiancée. But if the fiancé responds with, no, I don't want you to get anything, I got it covered, like, what happens then?

00:07:53 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 6:

Then you say, okay, awesome. Thank you for helping my kids.

00:07:56 - 00:07:57 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:07:57 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. And then you just save money.

00:07:59 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 6:

You don't keep involved in their life. You don't want to have bad co-parenting relationships with your ex's spouse. Right, right, right. They're in your kid's life. They love your kids. Yeah, yep.

00:08:08 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 2:

Becky, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:08:11 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 4:

Good morning. So for Mother's Day, me and my daughter went and got her stepmom a gift, and then she went with her dad and got her a gift. And then now for Father's Day, me and my daughter got her father a gift, and her and her father are going to get my fiancé a gift for Father's Day.

00:08:33 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 2:

Okay. And that's how you guys worked it out ahead of time, or you just decided to do that?

00:08:38 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 4:

Nope. We just co-parent really well, and I've always bought him gifts, and I could not ask for a better stepmom for my daughter. So I show my appreciation by saying, hey, let me help her get a gift for you.

00:08:53 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 2:

Who's the better gift giver, though, Becky? I would like to know that.

00:08:58 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 4:

Oh, I absolutely am.

00:09:01 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 2:

We've just ruined your relationship.

00:09:03 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 4:

they um my daughter went with them to pick out a gift and picked out my gift is all the candy that

00:09:10 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 2:

she wanted so then she got a gift right it's funny i always love for my father's day gifts when the kids were really little it was whatever the kids wanted to actually play with it was like their thing it's like all of a sudden i got wow this is really cool for some reason they got me a basketball a football you know and i'll be like oh this is cool guys but the things had to stay in their room uh when they were using it um thank you this is i i feel for you shannon this is a

00:09:36 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 4:

hard situation but i think do what you've always done you guys have had a great co-parenting so whatever you were doing obviously was working right it's just it's so different now that we're

00:09:48 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 7:

both engaged and about to get married i like i'm so fearful of stepping on toes or or somebody thinking that i'm being disrespectful even though that is absolutely not my intention by the way

00:09:59 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 2:

Like that. Best gift ever I got was I got Cigar of the Month Club once.

00:10:04 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 3:

Ooh, that's a great gift.

00:10:04 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 2:

Until Chelsea hated the smell of the cigars and they canceled my Cigar of the Month Club.

00:10:09 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 3:
