All right, it is Emojo in the morning show. Who blew the surprise? We went to a surprise birthday party on Friday. Happy birthday to our friend Jessica. Her husband, Will, threw her a surprise birthday party. And it was a really, really nice way that he kind of went about doing it because it's their son's birthday the same weekend that it's Jessica's or in the same time period, like a month or whatever. It's like his birthday, Will, then their son, Danny, and then Jessica's. So what he did was he used Danny as the distraction for throwing this party by saying that we were all going to go out for Danny's birthday and go hang out together as a group, a bunch of us friends. And he sent all these text messages to everybody about how it's going to be actually a surprise party for Jessica and that we are all to meet at this time. She's going to show up there with a kid's cake and some, you know, things for her son only to be surprised that it's going to be an adult party that everybody's going to have some fun and goof around. Well, Steve Gabara, Megan's future husband. Ex-husband. Ten years. Future ex-husband, she says. Ten years it will be her future husband and then a year and a half after that they'll probably get divorced. it depends on the

00:03:22 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 6:

prenup right

00:03:23 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 3:

Steve Gabara was one of the people that was invited to this whole thing he completely almost ruined this thing here's how it happened and you have to tell us if you've ever ruined a surprise and if so I want to know exactly how you ruined it 844-MOJO-LIVE or text 95500 another friend of ours Bill sends a text message and Bill was not invited I guess to the party Take it up, Bill, with Will I don't know why you weren't, but He sends a text message and says What are you guys doing on Friday? And all of us Including Jessica, the birthday girl Are included on this text And Steve Gabara answers it with no problem At all and says I'm going to a surprise party

00:04:09 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 6:

Oh my god Was he Did he do that on purpose To try to throw it Or was he really just a big dummy And didn't realize that she was on the text

00:04:21 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 3:

He says he didn't realize that Jessica's Name was in the text But yet we all do these group texts all the time And that's the problem Whenever you do group texts You never know exactly who's there Because in iPhone it spurs them all out Like a bunch of with their initials With the little circles

00:04:37 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 6:

And then a lot of times there's a group name

00:04:40 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 3:

And everybody by the way needs to have Their picture in the thing So you can actually see their picture And it's got to be more apparent Well, thank God that Jessica, like, works 8,000 hours a week, and she was not paying attention to the group text. And she says she didn't know that this was going on. But, Megan, you got to.

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

do something with that guy because he completely almost screwed the whole damn thing up honestly

00:05:05 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 3:

i don't even think there's fixing him at this point he's just he's he's too far gone he's usually

00:05:10 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 1:

honestly really good at you know being mindful of the things i'm usually the idiot that screws stuff up like that i was amazed that he was the one that almost messed up the entire party but um i want to know if there's any listeners of ours that have ever done this before Have you ever given out the information about what was supposed to be a surprise to people that were throwing the party or the person that the party was for? Like if it was a surprise party or surprise engagement or anything that stuff. I'm tired of surprises. Take no offense.

00:05:42 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 2:

You sound like such a grouch.

00:05:44 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 1:

No, I know. I'm grouchy. I'm very grouchy. But it's also the weather. I think that I've had enough of this weather.

00:05:49 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 2:

Wait, why are you tired of surprises?

00:05:51 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 1:

Because the engagement already is supposedly a surprise for the person that's getting engaged. Why do you got to surprise everybody else with the surprise? Because nobody can keep their mouth shut. I understand that, but I don't want to be part of your engagement. Just get engaged, and then we'll have an engagement party later. You know what I mean? Have you had that happen to you at all? What? Have you ever heard of these people that are now doing this? Because we were just involved in this like a month ago. Where say that you and Wes, your fiancee, haven't gotten engaged yet. And Wes goes, I'm going to do this I'm going to throw Shannon a surprise engagement party Okay, you're going to throw her a surprise But wait, does she know she's getting engaged? No, she doesn't know she's getting engaged But I'm going to also not let anybody else know That she's getting engaged And then we're all going to be at the engagement party Getting engaged together

00:06:36 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 2:

You mean celebrating the engagement

00:06:38 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 1:

Celebrating the engagement What's wrong with that?

00:06:42 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 2:

You just don't want to leave your house And go to a fun party

00:06:46 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 1:

I want to do it virtually i've turned into i've turned into megan i want to just be home and i feel like i've turned into you

00:06:55 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 2:

and i just want to go out and hang out with friends like i don't know what kind of weird like timeline that we're living in but i do not like it it's weird isn't it i'm telling you say it is very stressful to be involved in any sort of surprise because you are constantly walking

00:07:08 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 1:

on eggshells and watching everything that you say or text yeah it's awful sierra what's up it's mojo in the morning we're talking about how steve gabara almost blew the surprise

00:07:16 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

hey mojo so my boyfriend at the time i was throwing a surprise birthday party for him i took him out to stall we went to lunch and shopping and everyone was arriving as we were stalling his mom called me and i have bluetooth in my car she called me and said everyone's here so she completely ruined the surprise because my phone was on bluetooth and he heard it in my car

00:07:40 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 1:

as we were oh no you know what though that's where you have to say you're on bluetooth tooth you have to do that it was your fault well she didn't even say hi she just said everyone's here come back you didn't even give a chance uh what's up hayley how you doing i'm doing well

00:07:58 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 3:

how are you good who blew the surprise so i'm a twin and it was my 18th birthday and my i always try to plan something fun for my twin because i don't really care much about my birthday but she does and so my birthday landed on a Friday and it was my 18th birthday and my friend my mom was always wanted us to throw parties in high school also she's like throw a party I want to meet your friends and so I was like mom can like we throw a party for like a surprise birthday party for my birthday and she was like oh yeah so I had my friend plan it because I hate planning things but It was my idea for the birthday party. I was like, just make it a surprise. Don't tell Rachel and just make it a surprise for her. And so I had people like coming up to me being like, what time's the party tonight? I was like, see, I knew about the party, but my twin doesn't. So you can't tell my twin about that, but I knew about it. So I had people telling me about it while my friend was planning it. But my friend told everyone, this might be complicated. My friend told everyone while she was planning it that me and my twin didn't know about it.

00:09:05 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

Oh, and people were coming up to you. That just shows you that people are idiots.

00:09:10 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 3:

People are idiots. And they would come to my class and be like, what time tonight? And then we had like a basketball game, and they just wanted to know all about it. But my twin ended up not knowing, and it was a big surprise. We had 80 people in my basement.

00:09:22 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 1:

How does that make you feel that you have a birthday party surprise, but you knew about it, but your twin didn't know about it? Does it make you feel like you have more friends than her that told you? I do. Or that you're smarter and you figured it out?

00:09:35 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 3:

I definitely, I do have more friends than her, and, like, her friends are my friends, but, like, they were my friends first.

00:09:43 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 1:

I get it. Okay. No, I get it. Jessica, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:09:49 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

Morning. My five-year-old, well, he's not five anymore. He's 16, but my then-five-year-old son kind of ruined my engagement. My husband took.

00:10:00 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 2:

I came to the jewelry store to take out a ring. And that night while he was taking his bath, I was sitting in the bathroom with him. He said, Daddy, got you something today? And I said, oh, okay, that's nice. But it was Mother's Day weekend, so I thought, you know, they got me some kind of trinket somewhere. And he said, he got you something really nice. And I said, oh, okay. I said, well, don't tell me. He said, it's jewelry. Oh, no. I said, all right, well, you guys can surprise me on Mother's Day. And he said, no, it's a ring.

00:10:29 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 5:

Oh, no, he kept pushing it.

00:10:31 - 00:10:31 | Unknown:

Oh, no.

00:10:32 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. So did you have to fake it then when he pulled it up? I did. Yeah.

00:10:36 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 2:

I did. Yep.

00:10:37 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 5:

How long after you got engaged did you tell him that?

00:10:42 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 2:

I only recently told him. Maybe like a year or two. Oh, that's funny.

00:10:46 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 5:

That's nice. You kept knowing the surprise longer than your son actually took it.

00:10:52 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 4:

But I guarantee you went right out and got your nails done as fast as you could.

00:10:55 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 2:

I did. Well, I was graduating that weekend, so I was preparing for it anyway to, like, just look nice.

00:11:01 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 5:

I thought that was going to happen with Shannon after she told us how she got engaged and how Wes, her fiancé, pulled Lucy and Smith together and got their messages.

00:11:11 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, but he didn't outright tell them that he was going to be proposing. He kind of had to beat around the bush a little bit, but still, that was risky.

00:11:17 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, who would have been? Would it be Smith?

00:11:20 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 4:

It would absolutely have been Smith.

00:11:21 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, he would have figured that out. Yeah. Thank you for the call. Appreciate it.
