Text is 95500. So do you feel guilty when you're doing this?

00:02:09 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 1:

Why is it that I feel guilty doing a very normal thing that people do kind of frequently? I don't know why. I have the weirdest anxieties. And yesterday, it happened. Again, I had to return some clothes that I had bought my fiancee, Wes, to a store. I get the worst anxiety when I have to do that. Do you guys? Oh, yeah. I don't know. And lately, I feel like what I've been doing is I'll order some stuff online, okay? And if it doesn't fit or if it's ugly or whatever, I will return it, you know, to the store instead of shipping it back. And so I had, I've been letting these returns like pile up. So yesterday I made myself go to the mall and do all of the returns. So one of the stores that I walked into, I mean, I felt guilty as soon as you, as soon as I have to walk in and I'm not browsing or looking at anything and I head right to the registers, I start to get that feeling. And adding insult to injury with this particular story yesterday, and they were both so sweet. Both of the people behind the counter, behind the cash registers, were huge fans of the show.

00:03:20 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 5:

Oh, geez. Then it's even worse.

00:03:22 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 1:

And so then I'm like, and now they're judging me for returning all of this stuff. And then I couldn't find the receipt for one of the purchases. I'm like, great. Now they think I stole it. And I'm trying to return it and make some money. I don't know why. I get like this. It's so stupid.

00:03:35 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 5:

You know when I feel guilty? I feel guilty if I bought it and I know that the person at that store gets a commission on it and I know it comes out of their check. I never knew this. And I think I might have even talked about it before on the show. I never knew that at Nordstrom's like the person that sells it to you, they will have money taken back from them if you return that thing.

00:03:56 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 1:

No way.

00:03:57 - 00:04:00 | Speaker 5:

That's what everybody has told me. And so I always feel bad.

00:04:00 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 1:

This was not one of those stores, but yes, that is true.

00:04:02 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 5:

So what I end up doing is I'll end up, you know, kind of going, oh, crap. Well, maybe I'll wait like a pay period for them because I don't know if I'll take it back. It actually doesn't matter.

00:04:13 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 1:

So my girlfriend Kelly used to work at, I'm trying to think, I think she worked at Saks, which is like a very fancy store. But she worked there for a couple of years and there would be times that she got a paycheck of zero dollars because people would come back and return so much and it just killed her. She had to stop working there. I don't know if that's still the policy. This was several years ago that they would do that.

00:04:33 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 5:

So the other thing, too, is I agree with you on when you're bringing it back, except for when it's an online order. If it's an online order, then it's fair game because nobody knows who the heck fulfilled it. But if I bought at any of the stores and I don't know what their policy is at all, I feel like they're judging me. And I also feel like they are looking at me like I wore it and I'm now returning it. Yeah, same. I always think that they think that, yeah, that I wore it. and war for like an extended period of time and then brought it back and like this is a consistent thing that I do. Like they always just assume that that's my thing is I go bring clothes and then I bring it back all the time.

00:05:10 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 3:

You know what's really bad? Target makes you give your driver's license now.

00:05:13 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 5:

Do they really?

00:05:14 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

What for? What do they do that for? I don't know. If you work at Target, please tell me. I stick my little red card in there to get the money put back on there, but then they ask to see your driver's license.

00:05:23 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 7:

Maybe they're having a lot of theft. Who knows? I don't know. Where do you feel guilty, Megan, when you're doing this?

00:05:29 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 1:

No, what's cruddy is when you buy online and you return to a store, it counts against that store.

00:05:35 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 7:

Oh, great.

00:05:36 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 1:

Makes me feel worse. So the positive of the sale is not to them, but they get hit with the negative of the return.

00:05:43 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 7:

Isn't that crazy?

00:05:44 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 1:

So when I worked at a clothing store and people would order online all the time and then return to us and it would count negatively against us.

00:05:51 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 7:

I would have thought that they would have liked to have my size in. Like to be like, oh, good. I get another 2X in here. You know what I mean? Like I'll hang it on the rack. But what's up, Natalie?

00:06:00 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 8:

Yeah. So I did a return to Zara on Friday. And the guy's like, oh, why are you returning this stuff? And I said, oh, it just didn't look good on me. So as he's doing the return, he's like, oh, I bet this looked good on you. And they're like, you know, some are like going out tops. And he kept going, oh, yeah, I bet somebody would like this one on you. And I was like, oh.

00:06:23 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 7:

A little creepy. Yeah. Wow.

00:06:25 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:06:26 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my gosh. Wait, do you think he was doing that just to flirt with you or to try to get you to keep that particular thing?

00:06:32 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 8:

No, I think he was flirting. I think he was flirting. Yeah, it was gross.

00:06:36 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 7:

Do you ever feel, honestly, Natalie, do you ever feel like when you're going in for a return and you're bringing it in without the receipt, do you feel like they look at you like you're a thief?

00:06:49 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 8:

Oh, 100%. 100%. I hate doing returns.

00:06:52 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 7:

Even though those stores put those little stickers on it that makes it go, okay, this is where they bought it, or I know you bought it. And the stuff that gets shipped to you doesn't necessarily have a receipt with it. It always has just a shipping receipt, right?

00:07:05 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 3:

But I keep, like, the email and stuff.

00:07:06 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 5:

Yes, and that's what you show them. Do you guys always go over the top to explain to them, too, that you don't have the receipt and I didn't steal this? Yes.

00:07:13 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 3:

Like, I was sweating. The poor girl yesterday was helping me. I kept apologizing with every item that I was spending back out there. And I walked out of that store. I was wet from sweat.

00:07:21 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 7:

Hey. Clarification. I know.

00:07:24 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

Why? It's so stupid.

00:07:27 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 7:

What's up, Mark?

00:07:29 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 2:

Hey, how you guys doing?

00:07:31 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 7:

We're good. What's going on? Do you have the explanation on why Target's asking Shannon for her driver's license?

00:07:36 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, so my wife and I, we've had two kids, and during some of the gifts that we've gotten, they kept asking for her ID. They actually won't let her take returns back anymore to Target.

00:07:47 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 3:

Why?

00:07:49 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 2:

I guess we did too many. Maybe they have, like, a limit, but I think that's connected to the ID, because every time you ask for the ID, we'd use hers, and then they'd say, hey, yeah, like, they literally wouldn't take returns back. Oh, crap. Whether we got it as a gift, from online, on store, so.

00:08:05 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 7:

Are you banned from, is it just that target, or is it all the targets?

00:08:11 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 2:

Well, we've only tried one, so maybe that's the loophole, but.

00:08:15 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 7:

That's crazy.

00:08:16 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 2:

That's my thinking behind asking for the IDs.

00:08:19 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 7:

Interesting. Yeah.

00:08:20 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 3:

By the way, the girl who helped me yesterday just texted in, and I love you too. Thank you for saying I can come back. Oh, that's sweet.

00:08:26 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 7:

By the way, the guy that I returned something to the other day that tried to say to me, I bet you look good in the thing. And when I told him that I don't, that I look like a human sausage, he said, but I like sausage. It was literally the guy's comment. You weren't making that up. It was at Dick's, I swear to you. So at Dick's, I brought back an Under Armour sweatshirt. And then the guy said, I bet you look good in this thing. And I, you know, and I said, no, I look like a human sausage. He goes, I like sausage.

00:08:55 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 5:

I think you walk out of that happy.

00:08:56 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 7:

Thank you. Yeah. I almost kept it. Believe it or not.
