My name is Natarika Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, But Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

Those listening to us in Grand Rapids, you guys know this well because it's been going for a little bit. West Michigan has been getting crazy amounts of snow all night long. In the Detroit area, it is a winter weather advisory day today because your morning commute is going to be nasty. I would suggest you normally if you are 30 minutes, 40 minutes of a drive, I would suggest that you leave even earlier than you normally would. I'd add 20 minutes or 30 minutes onto that. It is pretty bad. I don't think I went to speed limit, let alone within 15 miles of the speed limit. To be honest with you, I drive the lodge. Nobody drives the speed limit. I don't even know why they keep it at 55 miles an hour because literally I think the lowest I've ever seen anybody drive is like 75 or 80.

It's a suggestion.

I was going 30 miles an hour. Oh, I know.

That's crazy. 75 southbound into the city, which is what I take the entire way. Most of my drive, I was between 25 and 30. It's nuts. It was really scary. And parts of the road are just completely white. Like there aren't even tire tracks to follow in. It's still at that point in certain chunks of certain highways.

So just not really nervous. Raccoon breaking storm car. Yeesh. That was bad. And on 75, on 75, coming up to Mac, shout out to the lady that I'm assuming has to be friends or family members of the two cars that are either getting a tire change or got in an accident. But get your car out of the driving lane and get over to the side of the road so I don't have to maneuver in between y'all.

She could have been one of the accident cars. It could have been pretty bad.

Move your car over, though.

I know, but I think that made it.

So I always take 96 on my way to work. I live in Livonia, and I got to get down to Dearborn. Roads looked okay and everything, but, man, big traffic jam right now, 96. I've already seen it.

like three spin outs and one guy go up the hill on the exit trying to hit his brake and then come sliding across right behind me thank god he completely missed me wow i'm gonna make the work on time wow yeah you got looks like i'm passing up i'm passing up oh that's what happened i just got to roll out or something oh geez yeah yeah i'm just passing up i'm just passing up

where the cops are right now well you got it you got to be careful make sure that you keep it safe Keep your speeds down. Don't try to be crazy, especially if you're in a truck. And stay away from the plow guys. I didn't know this, but this year it just went into effect in 2024. It's the same as getting into an accident or speeding through the construction zones with the plow trucks. You've got to stay away. Give them some space.

Well, the guy that I always fear is the guy who is the 10-mile-an-hour driver with the hazard lights on. And I'm thinking, is it because his car is bad or is it because he's a bad driver? And then I'm thinking it's probably a little bit of both at that time. All right, well, this weather is going to be going on for such a, I guess, a good period of time throughout the morning, and we will keep you up to date on how things are. Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first time I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we'll work.
