00:02:39 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 8:

Could have been way worse. Luckily, I didn't open my big trap. We were just getting comments on our text messages from people saying about the voice I use in the phone script. I was talking really low because they told me she was a big fan of the show and she would recognize my voice. So I was trying to change it up a little bit. And I kind of had a situation with a deep voice yesterday. I had to sort out an old car loan bill that I got and I was calling the 800 number and I waited on hold for 40 minutes and I finally got somebody on and they said, hi, you know, hi, this is Charlie, um, agent number, blah, blah, blah, gave me her customer service number. And then she helped me with the bill. Well, I, first I thought it was a man. and then I figured out after a few minutes in the conversation I think I'm actually talking to a woman named Charlie and I shouldn't have assumed but she had a really deep voice and the name Charlie I just you know in my brain I triggered oh it's a man and then she started talking about my husband and then I thought wait is it a gay man and then as she kept as she kept talking I said no this is definitely this is a woman and I didn't know so I just like I stopped talking she was being real friendly and talking to me about situations while we were waiting for her computer to pull up the report and i was like do we know for a fact it is her computer no i'm still not sure so i just stopped saying anything because i was so afraid of saying the wrong thing i just was being so careful and i thought there's a bunch of women who are constantly mistaken to be the opposite gender because of their deep voices you know and i wondered if there's any listeners that actually get called sir but you're really a ma'am and you've just been blessed with this deep voice uh that you didn't ask for or maybe smoked a lot of cigarettes in your lifetime and does that happen a lot of people where you actually you know people mistake you all the time on the phone i was like tiptoeing on eggshells for the rest of the conversation once it triggered in my mind wait i don't know who i'm talking to here i don't want to assume and offend anybody so and then it was the longest phone call and she kept he or she kept being really friendly and talking to me but i didn't

00:04:41 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 3:

know i was you know being very careful to does that ever happen to uh that never happens to me

00:04:46 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

no it actually doesn't but i i think i've told this story several times before is this part simpson um when i was in school i

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 2:

I definitely had a deep voice for a little girl, and so I would get made fun of. The best is when you have a cold, because then it goes down to more octaves. Yeah, like I can pretty much sing bass. I have the exact opposite problem.

00:05:14 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 3:

Ma'am, are you okay? And I'm like, what? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. KP, you also have a deep voice. Do people ever mistake you, KP?

00:05:30 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 1:

I can't remember who I was on the phone with this week, but someone did call me a sir, and they said, I'm sorry, ma'am, immediately after they did that. So I don't know if they thought I was at like a – my voice isn't as deep as Shannon's, I would say, but not that that's a bad thing. Let's do a deep off. Well, yeah. Let's do a deep off. What's like the lowest? Yeah. Touch my butt and call me pretty. I can go pretty deep. All right, let's see. I can go deeper.

00:06:00 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 7:

it's one of my favorite moves in phone scams when i'm like talking to somebody and and they'll go sir i can't find your phone i go ma'am you mean ma'am and then go oh i'm really sorry ma'am and then four minutes later go oh you mean sir and like i just confuse the hell out of

00:06:13 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 3:

them because they don't know who they're talking the funniest though is when it happens to you and

00:06:16 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 7:

you're just doing your regular voice right yeah i know i'm not disguising my voice and they still I was like, ma'am.

00:06:23 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God. I'll tell you what. You know, it's like no offense. It's not like yesterday when you were talking to that person. It's not like you're trying to offend them. Obviously, you want to call them out, but sometimes you don't know, and you're on the phone.

00:06:37 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Trying to empathize and not assume just because of the voice I'm hearing, but at the same time, as we kept small talking and talking, she's talking about family or he's talking about family. I'm so nervous now. I don't want to say the wrong thing.

00:06:49 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 2:

I feel like that's happened to us so many times on the air where we assume it's, you know, it's a female calling. Like, no, I'm a dude. We can't see you, so it's hard. And the connection is always terrible.

00:07:03 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 3:

Or it's just a smoker.

00:07:04 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 2:

Where do you keep the cigarettes?

00:07:05 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 3:

You know? What's going on, Ed?

00:07:10 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 5:

So, first, I just want to say hi, Shannon, former GI alum. Ah, hi, Ed.

00:07:16 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 3:

That's Groceal High School, right? That's right.

00:07:18 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 5:

And I would answer the phone and they would say, oh, is this Mrs. Matthews?

00:07:24 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 4:

And you're like, what part of this sounds like a missus? Well, when I was in high school or maybe middle school, I probably did sound like Mrs. Matthews.

00:07:34 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 7:

That's all right.

00:07:35 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 3:

Look at you and you've grown into this deep voice, this beautiful, sultry, baritone man.

00:07:42 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 2:

What year did you graduate?

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 5:

88.

00:07:45 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

00:07:46 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 5:

You actually had my dad as a science

00:07:48 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 2:

teacher. Who was your dad? Oh, Mr. Matthews. Oh, 7th grade. I had the biggest crush on him. No, I'm sorry. That's Mrs. Matthews. Wait a second. You have to tell him. I used to have, and he was an older man, I used to have the biggest crush on him. Wow. I mean, I remember everything in his class. He divided his room one time into four different chambers of the heart and walked through it. He dissected fetal pigs in his class. And he walked through your heart? I remember him very, very well.

00:08:14 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 6:

Wow. And I told him the story because we talked about this before i told him that and he you know he hears that a lot

00:08:21 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 2:

oh i bet oh you're so sweet goodbye ed goodbye i'm saying

00:08:26 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 9:
