00:01:33 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 5:

before we do anything um shannon you have a friend of yours that is going through a situation and anybody that has an ex may be able to relate to this yeah especially if you used to live

00:01:47 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 4:

together so one of my very very close girlfriends is recently divorced and she still lives in the same house that she lived in with her ex-husband when they were married okay they do have kids together and he lives maybe five minutes from their her now her house okay their their mayor

00:02:04 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 5:

their ex-marital home oh so it was the old house that they used to live in she lives in that house

00:02:09 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 4:

still yep so over the over this past weekend she did not have their kids he had them okay so this is either saturday morning or sunday morning i can't remember but it doesn't matter she was sleeping in her bed like decided to sleep in I don't have the kids finally I can sleep in into the bedroom walks her ex and he was looking for something that one of the girls had left there and he's like I tried texting I tried calling she didn't hear him even walk in the house because she was sleeping and she was so upset about this and she said you know you you can't do that anymore you can't just like yes this is the house that we used to own together but it's it's my house now my my private space and she's like you can't just walk into the house and unannounced let alone my bedroom it was i mean it was just one of those situations where she's like i didn't think that we had to talk about that because common sense would tell you that would probably be pretty awkward

00:03:12 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

All right, I have a question now, and I just wanted to throw this out there. When you switch residences, okay, or you have, like, a situation where, like, a roommate moves out or whatever, do you switch the – if you're getting divorced or you're breaking up, do you switch the locks on your house or apartment or wherever that you were living in? Like, did you – okay, so you stayed in your house, right? Yep. So did you change the locks on your place?

00:03:39 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 4:

I did not. And Andrew still has my garage coat. Like he has everything, but I will say he gives me a heads up before he's coming over. Now, mind you, at first he did not. And it came to a point, nothing strange happened, but it came to a point where we both said, you know, boundaries, we need to announce when we're on our way to the other parent's house.

00:04:01 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 5:

I wonder if people are in, you know, if you've been divorced or, you know, broken up, do you change that lock or do you trust that they're okay coming back and forth?

00:04:13 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 4:

Like I would try, like if Andrew texted me this morning and said, hey, you know, Smith left something for school, you know, at your house. Can I run in and grab it? Absolutely. One hundred percent. I would feel totally comfortable. And you do the same with him? Yes. With him being in the house.

00:04:28 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 5:

What about Spike? Do you have the key to your old house?

00:04:30 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

I do. So I think it all depends on the relationship, right? And how rocky it is or how you get along. But for us, we get along and also we still have kids. So I want to be able to, you know, in any case, be able to access if there's an emergency or anything. But I would never. Well, I would never think to enter the house without her permission. Yeah. But also, even when she knows I'm coming, like, oh, OK, I'm going to grab Dublin from you or the dog.

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 2:

then I still text leaving the house and I'm 10 minutes away and give her a heads up just out of courtesy because I don't want to surprise.

00:05:07 - 00:05:11 | Speaker 1:

What about when that person that your ex moves on and has another significant other?

00:05:11 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 8:

Oh, then you can't kill you.

00:05:13 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 1:

And that's my situation.

00:05:14 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 3:

Right. And that's why for a while, Andrew, we would just walk into each other's houses and there had to come a point where we were like, okay, there has to be some announcement made that you're coming over or it could get real awkward for you.

00:05:28 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 2:

I think we might be in a rare situation I think most couples after divorce Don't have that friendly relationship That you You know You wouldn't think That maybe the locks get changed Or maybe you have to tell them Like in your friend situation You cannot just walk into my house Well that's what she said Yeah

00:05:44 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 1:

If I was like dating a guy And his Ex Just like came in That I don't know That would be like a huge red flag to me

00:05:52 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

Yeah You gotta respect the space

00:05:54 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 8:

Kelly what's up It's Mojo in the morning Hey how are you Good. Tell us your situation.

00:06:01 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 6:

So I had an ex that took me a couple tries to get him out of the house. And one time I was out with my kids and I came back and he was actually attempting to back out of my driveway. He had been in my house. While you weren't home? Uh-huh.

00:06:19 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 2:

My dude, you do not live here anymore. You can press charges.

00:06:22 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 6:

uh he would throw a key at me yet still be able to get into my house wow how was he able to do

00:06:30 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 8:

that so he made copies because he made a copy he did listen to these uh texters here 586 i changed my locks immediately 248 hell yes you changed that lock um a couple of uh of our mojo in the morning texters coming uh through could you imagine how awkward that must have been for your friend, to have him, like, walk into the room.

00:06:53 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Well, and she goes, thank God I was wearing pajamas this time. Because she's like, sometimes I don't. When your kid's on her, I mean, she's right. Half the time I'll sleep, you know, without pajamas on because nobody's around.

00:07:06 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 8:

Plus, honestly.

00:07:07 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 3:

It's not that pretty, Megan.

00:07:08 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 8:

Plus, honestly, don't you always want to look cute when the ex is there just to show him what he's missing? Yes. I mean, you want to actually, like, make sure that you got your, you know, your hair looking good and, you know, everything is all said and done. You want to have them get a little jealousy. Look what you are missing out on right now. Although, can you imagine walking in and your significant other, your ex-significant other is, like, on top or bottom? Oh, my God. What's up, Rebecca?

00:07:35 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 4:

Hi. So before I just recently got divorced and before I was legally divorced, I kept the home and my ex moved out. So before we were legally divorced, his name was still on everything and I couldn't change the locks. I caught on to him going through my house.

00:07:51 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 8:

What was he doing? Was he taking things?

00:07:54 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 4:

Nope. He was just like digging through. I don't, he never even told me what he was looking for because like I did end up confronting him. But I ended up putting up security cameras. Oh, yeah.

00:08:05 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 7:

Oh, yeah. That's a great idea.

00:08:07 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 4:

To get proof of all this because that's pretty much all I could do.

00:08:10 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:08:11 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

And I did intend on changing the locks as soon as he moved out. But thankfully, we've moved past that, and I do trust him.

00:08:19 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 8:

Thank goodness. But you have the cameras.

00:08:21 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 4:

The security cameras are there, and he knows that they're there now because he found them eventually.

00:08:25 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:08:26 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 4:

But I do think it's all about trust because I guess if I didn't have those cameras, I might change the lock.

00:08:33 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 8:

Well, I love it. It's all about trust, but I got cameras. Jen actually brings up a very interesting point. What is that, Jen?

00:08:41 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 5:

Okay, so legally, if you give somebody the key, they have your permission to enter whenever they want. I went through this with my ex and called the police, and the police were like, if they have a key, you need to change your locks. And that's the only way that, you know, it becomes permission is no longer granted because they no longer have a key to your house. That's interesting.

00:09:07 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 3:

And I guess my response to that would be, okay, so that's the legalese in it. Well, enter at your own risk because God only knows what you might see.

00:09:17 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 5:

I agree. I got a very big dog.

00:09:19 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:09:20 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 3:

Not even that. I'm talking about naked people doing naked people things, you know?

00:09:24 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 8:

But wait, wait. Don't you want them to see that? Well, fine. I think you want them. To me, it's like, if Chelsea and I, God forbid, ever got divorced, I'm hoping that there's some hot girl in my room and I'm naked with her.

00:09:39 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 3:

You're not going to want to walk into Chelsea's house when something else is happening.

00:09:42 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 8:

Ah, well. Yeah.

00:09:44 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 7:

You got me.
