Ah, Mojo in the Morning Show. There it is again. I feel like it's the attack of Shannon's engagement photos. I'm getting attacked by them right now on social media. I was so happy with your engagement yesterday. By the way, it could have been the most romantic engagement ever. And then yesterday in the afternoon, I was very excited about seeing some of the pictures and the video and all the rest of that stuff. And then because I follow you, I follow Wes. I follow Mojo in the Morning. I follow Channel 955. I follow Kiss Toledo. I follow SNX and Grand Rapids. You're sick of me. I have been inundated, and then I feel like, uh-oh, I better like them all, but I've liked some of these ones already, and they think, it's gotten crazy.

00:02:36 - 00:02:39 | Speaker 4:

It took you to the engagement to get to this point?

00:02:39 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 3:

Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

00:02:41 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 4:

Are you thinking funny? I almost just said something really bad that would have gotten me in a lot of trouble. Do you, Megan? Why? No, like a swear word.

00:02:49 - 00:03:00 | Speaker 3:

I mean, you even you even reposted something that was seven hours ago, like seven hours ago, which means that you were post you were up late last night. You should not have been up late last night.

00:03:00 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 4:

I wasn't up late last night.

00:03:01 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 3:

Oh, really? One of them got.

00:03:03 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 4:

I might have reposted this morning that it was posted last night or something.

00:03:07 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 3:

OK, so but all right. So here's the deal.

00:03:09 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 4:

I was going to say I went to it early.

00:03:10 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 3:

Here's the deal. I feel like we need equal time. I joked yesterday that Reese is getting engaged. We need to have we need to have equal time. And Reese, we're going to follow you around with a photographer today and just take pictures of you all throughout the day. Let's do it. We've got to make sure. The guy who does all the posting does it. By the way, did you see how many? I think on Facebook it was 13,000.

00:03:32 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I can guarantee that will be like the most viewed video we have all year probably.

00:03:36 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, I'm not going to complain about her proposal photos and videos. They gave us some engagement. She's not the only one that got engaged. We got engaged on social. It was. A bunch of followers.

00:03:47 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 3:

It's amazing. Can I also say the other thing that's amazing, too? How many comments I met of people who said that they pulled over because they were crying. I know. I was, I'm a concerned. My favorite was from the guys.

00:03:59 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 4:

The guys who, they were like, I had to go to work in the plant and my face was all puffy.

00:04:06 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 5:

Well, because you can hear Shannon retelling the story was amazing because it took us right back into that moment because you could hear the emotion in Shannon's voice.

00:04:14 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 3:

But I am concerned about the emotional stability of the majority of you guys, that I'm going to make sure that you're okay today, that you guys maybe need a breather or something. So today is going to be, Shannon, don't be mad at this, but remember when we used to do COVID Free Fridays where we couldn't talk COVID? Yep. So, well, actually today can't be because I got an engagement story that I want to talk about that ties into yours.

00:04:34 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 2:

You know what song we need? Adam Sandler, Love Stinks from The Wedding Singer. I love The Wedding Singer.

00:04:41 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 3:

Was that a Def Leppard song?

00:04:43 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 5:

No, it was Jay Giles Band.

00:04:46 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 3:

Was it? Yeah. Love Stink. That was a great song. All right. I didn't even know that was a real song. I didn't either. I thought it was just from the movie. You thought it was him making it up?

00:04:55 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 5:

Big Detroit following her.

00:04:58 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

Okay, so.

00:05:00 - 00:05:17 | Speaker 1:

So yesterday, we were talking to the engagement, and I was talking to Chelsea, and she was telling me, did you hear the story about friends of ours that got engaged over the weekend? Oh, really? Yeah, and they had a not as great engagement. Remember when we did the topic yesterday of bad engagements and how bad engagement was?

00:05:17 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 3:

If you missed that topic, go back and listen to it. It's great. Very funny.

00:05:21 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 1:

So they had an almost really bad one that could have been a part of that whole deal. They got engaged and they went to, and I won't call it the restaurant because sometimes I've actually gone there to eat and it's actually a very good restaurant. It's a really good Italian restaurant here in town. And they went there because that was the place that they went on their very first date with each other. And he had set it up with the staff that he was going to propose. Have you ever had this happen to you? If you're somebody that had this happen during your engagement, call us. Their proposal kept getting interrupted. So during the proposal, the owner of the restaurant, who is a really nice guy, and he does this to every table. He doesn't just do it to random tables. So I don't know if he was knowing that they were getting engaged or if he was just randomly coming over. He comes over all the time and goes, so how are you guys doing? Is everything going okay? And he sits there. Do you ever have this where a manager comes over to you and they get really close to you and they go, everything okay? I just want to see if everything's okay, whatever. That's the guy in the suit.

00:06:18 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 2:

I'm like, it was okay until you start spitting on my suit. It's kind of weird.

00:06:22 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 3:

It is so very nice until they do it like six times and you're like, I really, I really am okay.

00:06:27 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 1:

So every time that he was about to pull the ring out and get on his knee and do the whole thing and propose, the manager or the owner of this restaurant actually would come over and he would be like, and he put, and all of a sudden he said he felt the hand on the shoulder going, just want to make sure you guys are okay. Just want more water. And he kept interrupting the proposal. Um, and I was dying laughing because it couldn't happen to a nicer couple.

00:06:56 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 3:

And then, yeah, then did they finally get engaged? Yes.

00:06:59 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 1:

They finally got engaged and he, he gets down on his knee, proposes to her and says, will you marry me? And her first reaction is you better have asked my dad. She said yes, eventually. Yes. But the yes was not, uh, was not the first thing out of her mouth. She was completely shocked. she thought it was because who goes and gets you know gets proposed to at you know and it wasn't like they all were dressed up or anything like that it's a really nice it's a kind of a you can

00:07:26 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 2:

bring families to this restaurant it's kind of a cool place house is really nice you know what i mean i i messaged west when shannon told us the story yesterday i said like good job because when you hear the story unfold and you realize how many people were involved and to have nothing go wrong because the kids kind of were on to something soon might have been happening. He asked permission of Shannon's dad so he knew. There was a whole team in Paris that knew about this and then moving parts that kept getting changed around. So much could have gone wrong so easily and the surprise could have been spoiled because he's sharing a room with Shannon and constantly texting all the people involved to make sure it's all still timed out perfectly at the right location. So I was like, man, that's not easy to plan that kind of surprise. and there's so much that could go wrong like like like the manager at the restaurant coming over and messing it up so good or i or my my friend had uh he did the old-fashioned thing of asking his girl's dad's permission for her hand in marriage and the dad was cool but he he couldn't wait until saturday night for the big plan date on a boat so he was like trying to get it all together and he thought he had it all worked out he asked the dad earlier in the week he made the plans with the boat he had the the photographer sneaking around well dad walked in their place friday night and started congratulating them because he couldn't wait to celebrate with them he ruined the surprise because the proposal was saturday night it hadn't happened yet no the dad messed up which night it was gonna be so when he walked in the room the door with a bottle of champagne one day too early his daughter was like what engagement ruined his daughter his daughter I had no idea that the fiance was going to propose the next night.

00:09:07 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 1:

By the way, it's not an old-fashioned thing to ask the dad. I think that that's nice. When you called it an old-fashioned thing, I'm thinking, if we have anybody getting married, if you don't ask the parents or let them know ahead of time, I think that that's, yeah.

00:09:21 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 2:

So I heard it's not as big a thing now.

00:09:23 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 3:

I don't like it. It feels like an exchanging of property. Well, I think you probably have a problem with people saying They asked dad for permission Like Wes always said I wanted to ask your dad for his blessing I like that

00:09:38 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 1:

Listen, if somebody doesn't ask Scott Mick For your hand in marriage They're going to get this right across the face

00:09:46 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

If you're afraid to ask dad Maybe you shouldn't be doing it I said permission, I meant blessing I only said permission because I have a daughter That's looking at engagement rings Hold on He better ask my permission

00:10:00 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 4:

Wow. No, they have no plans. I shouldn't say that on the air because now I'm going to get in trouble. But they're talking about it. I know they've had conversations about it. So I know it's inevitable in the next year or two.

00:10:11 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 5:

And how do you want him to ask for your blessing?

00:10:14 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 4:

I just want him to tell me his intentions before he does it. I just want him to do the traditional thing. And if he doesn't, I'm okay with that because I like the kid a lot. And I'm very happy if they spend their lives together.

00:10:26 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

See, I want presents when Cecily's boyfriend does it. It's a dowry.

00:10:30 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 4:

I get three sheep and I go, yes, for my daughter.

00:10:34 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 6:

I'm like, literally, I'm like, this is supposed to be funny talking about.

00:10:37 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 4:

No, listen, you don't have to put the feminist label on this and be like it's too old-fashioned to do anymore. I think it's appropriate that you know the family is okay with this because if you're too scared to talk to your family in advance about proposing, then maybe you shouldn't be doing it.

00:10:53 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, but not everybody is close with their families. No, I understand that. I think that, like, it's very clear I don't have a relationship with my mom, but I think it's very common for people with their dads. And so then to say, well, I'm missing out on another life experience. Like, I'm very close with my dad. Of course I want him involved in the process. More of a blessing than a permission. Yeah. But I don't think it should feel like a requirement. It should just feel like an extra bonus if it happens.

00:11:17 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I'm not saying it's a rule for everybody. I'm talking very first person personal about my experience with my daughters.

00:11:23 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 3:

And if Allie's parents had said no, you know, when I asked for their blessing, I still would have done it.

00:11:29 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 1:

So that happened to a very good friend of mine. He asked and dad said no. They didn't really like him from the beginning, truly for no reason. He's a great guy. And he still went forward with it. And everybody's fine now. But for a while, it was not good.

00:11:44 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 5:

I actually took my dad out or my father-in-law out for a very nice meal. And I did. I was totally like, and he knew it the whole time. He's like, oh, this guy's taking me here, you know. It must be. It must be, you know, he's asking me for something. He's not asking me for a loan for this meal. What's going on, Caitlin?

00:12:04 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 8:

Hi.

00:12:05 - 00:12:05 | Unknown:

Hi.

00:12:06 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 8:

Well, so my story is my fiance is a farmer, and he was working ground, and that's when he wanted to pop the question, and so he kept working the ground while his dad kept coming up, seeing how the ground was working. He interrupted us like five times, and my fiancé was getting, like, furious and shaking, of course. That's the longest time it was.

00:12:29 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 4:

So your fiancé didn't know? I mean, he didn't talk to your dad in advance? He didn't know that's what was going to happen that day?

00:12:36 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 8:

No, this was his dad. Oh, his dad, okay. His dad had no idea.

00:12:41 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 4:

Gotcha.

00:12:41 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 8:

Oh. But, yeah.

00:12:43 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 5:

I've always wanted to know how farmers get engaged, and I just found out how a farmer. They were working ground.

00:12:48 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 8:

it's always their dream to be an attractor and ask the question

00:12:52 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 5:

yeah that's great

00:12:54 - 00:13:05 | Speaker 4:

and what's weird about that farm is not only did the dad keep coming over and interrupting the manager of the restaurant kept coming over and saying is everything okay here yeah that's right what are you doing here

00:13:05 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 5:

what's up Susan hi how are you good what's going on we're talking about weddings here and asking permission we've got a lot of stuff going on what's happening

00:13:18 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure. Well, this was my second marriage. I met my husband on July 5th. We got engaged on July 5th, so we were supposed to get married on July 5th. That was my understanding. Unfortunately, July 5th was a Wednesday, so it was going to be like a backyard wedding in my friend's backyard. Well, my husband moved the entire wedding to a winery the weekend before, and I knew nothing about it.

00:13:41 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 5:

Wow, so he surprised you with your wedding.

00:13:45 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 2:

He surprised me with my wedding.

00:13:46 - 00:13:49 | Speaker 5:

Were you happy about that or not happy?

00:13:49 - 00:14:12 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I was okay with it A surprise? I've never heard of that Yeah, like everything that I wanted here He just booked it up there But it's funny because everybody that I talked to They were really shady They weren't like excited with me I think they were all afraid that they were going to let the cat out of the bag, right? So he brought my wedding dress He booked for my hair and my nails Like he's quite amazing

00:14:12 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 5:

You're an amazing woman because most women, even though he did all that stuff, would probably be, like, upset that they didn't know that their wedding was that day. Like, there's one thing that you don't surprise somebody with.

00:14:23 - 00:14:24 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's my second time, though.

00:14:24 - 00:14:27 | Speaker 5:

Oh, that's nice. Thank you for the call, Susan. What's up, Morgan?

00:14:29 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 2:

Hi, good morning.

00:14:30 - 00:14:31 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. What's going on?

00:14:32 - 00:14:44 | Speaker 7:

So my mom made a huge deal out of my now husband not asking for her blessing before he proposed to me, and it turned into a giant fight.

00:14:44 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 5:

Did he ask your dad for permission?

00:14:48 - 00:14:54 | Speaker 7:

My dad's not really in my life, so there didn't be a reason to ask him. But, yeah, my mom was very upset.

00:14:54 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 4:

Before the proposal, did your mom like him?

00:14:57 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 7:

My mom likes him. She loves him.

00:15:00 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 10:

Why is she making such a big deal, and why is she, like—

00:15:02 - 00:15:06 | Speaker 9:

You know what, though? If she was a single mom in it, I think that he should have said something to her.

00:15:06 - 00:15:13 | Speaker 10:

Yeah, but not to the point of starting a giant fight and making it about her. That's taking it too far. I do agree. She should have been in on it.

00:15:13 - 00:15:18 | Speaker 3:

My mom called him my boyfriend for a year after we got engaged. Wow.

00:15:19 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 9:

Wow. Wow. Geez. Well, you guys are happily married now?

00:15:24 - 00:15:25 | Speaker 3:

We are.

00:15:27 - 00:15:29 | Speaker 9:

What's up? Is this Deja?

00:15:30 - 00:15:31 | Speaker 1:

DeAsia, yeah.

00:15:31 - 00:15:32 | Speaker 9:

DeAsia? What's going on?

00:15:34 - 00:15:59 | Speaker 1:

So I have a similar story to the last girl where my fiancé did not ask for my dad's blessing. And it wasn't something that I necessarily, I was asking him to do. It was more for my dad's sake because my dad just wanted that knowledge. And we've been engaged for a year now. And my dad ever so occasionally, he'll just kind of like nudge my fiancé and be like, hey, you remember when you didn't ask for my blessing for my daughter's hand?

00:16:00 - 00:16:32 | Speaker 9:

thinking and just joking about it now wow you know i i will say this that uh guys i i think it's a good thing to do especially if you're you know a fiance or soon-to-be fiance is really close to their parent you know what i mean like no matter mom or dad yeah and i and i think it's not a bad idea to to to make it like a a cool thing for you guys because of i just think i don't know i just feel like and i know it's like oh that's old-fashioned whatever i just feel like what it does is it brings the whole family into everything and plus you want them to help pay for

00:16:32 - 00:16:49 | Speaker 10:

things well that too yeah so that's the most important as long as there's no dysfunction in the family you are uniting two families so everybody wants to be a part and be included and everything this is a great story it's three three one three texted and said the police at stony creek interrupt right here emily oh we got her emily you there oh hi good morning we were

00:16:49 - 00:16:55 | Speaker 9:

talking about interrupting the proposal what happened so um a few years ago when my husband

00:16:55 - 00:17:25 | Speaker 2:

proposed we were at stony creek and um right before he got down on one knee i had no idea what was going on um we just see like flashing lights and the police had come because he illegally and so we had to like run up the hill and like go talk to the guy and like move the car and then i was like all right let's just go to dinner and he was like no no no no no like i really want to go back down like let's go look at the water and i had no idea what was going on but it was so funny because it was like, all I can imagine is how embarrassed he fought.

00:17:25 - 00:17:28 | Speaker 10:

That's great. He's trying to interrupt the whole proposal.

00:17:28 - 00:17:50 | Speaker 8:
