All right, it's Mojo in the Morning. Zach's in studio with us this morning here. Zach is the executive audio producer of the Mojo in the Morning Show. and uh you had a friend ask you for something a friend to ask and you're worried uh if you

00:02:04 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 4:

should do it or not do it yeah um well first let me let me give you a little background he's one of my best friends um i haven't we kind of fallen out uh because he uh got in a relationship got married um but we kind of like got a rekindling okay um so we saw the the fight this weekend i'm hanging out with him and uh he asked me to borrow a few bucks and what are you under a thousand over a hundred okay so enough to break my bank but i said to him i don't think you're gonna pay me back you said that or you thought that no i said it were you drunk no well maybe a little maybe a little but um i i was like let me think about it let me get back to you but i did say those words was he offended no he kind of laughed it off but deep down that's how

00:03:02 - 00:03:07 | Speaker 3:

i felt i was like i don't think you're ever gonna pay has there been times that he hasn't paid you

00:03:07 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 4:

back like this he's borrowed multiple things for me and he's never given it back so like musical

00:03:12 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 6:

instruments or you know okay you have a great reason right but am i the i don't want to lose

00:03:18 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 5:

him as a friend did you use that as an example no i did you say listen i gave you this this and

00:03:24 - 00:03:37 | Speaker 4:

this and you didn't know it was more like i don't think he'll pay me back but let me think about it kind of so he thinks that there's still a possibility there yeah and there could be it's just i also deep down this is between us probably shouldn't be saying this but your boy doesn't have

00:03:37 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 5:

that money yeah yeah like what and if you do you've been you need it's a donation yeah yeah But in Zach's case, because I know you've been, you know, I think getting a girlfriend's been a good thing for him. Usually it costs you more money. I think Zach's been very smart with his money lately. Unless you give this guy the money. All right, so here's a question for the listeners. Have you ever given a friend money and it burned your ass? I want to hear those stories. And then I want to ask the listeners, do you think Zach should give his friend at least an option of like maybe a payment system or plan? I don't know.

00:04:16 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 6:

I didn't think he'd tell you what he needed the money for.

00:04:19 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 4:

Um, yeah.

00:04:20 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 6:

Or you don't want to share.

00:04:22 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 4:

That's fine. It might ruin it might ruin the whole thing, but it's like for a vacation for him and his girl.

00:04:28 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 3:

Oh, no.

00:04:28 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 4:

Him and his girl. I know, but.

00:04:31 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 3:

You don't need to fund his vacation. If it was like. It's just a few bucks.

00:04:34 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 5:

Why did he say he needed a vacation? It's a surprise for his girl

00:04:38 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 4:

And he didn't want to see it on the card

00:04:41 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

This is the one that got married? That's a different friend Okay, so he wants to take her out On a trip Do you like him that much? I would never fund my friends Like if I had a friend That said, hey, my kid needs help That's what I'm saying You know what I mean?

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 2:

I'm going to struggle with my rent payment this month, something like that.

00:05:04 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 4:

I was really good friends with him until recently, and then we kind of had like a rekindling. So like we did. It sounds weird when you say that with a guy friend. We rekindled our relationship. Okay, I haven't seen or spoke to him in like maybe two years. And then we had a mutual friend, and then we kind of re- Reunited. Reflamed the, no, I don't know. Reunited. Reignited the flame.

00:05:28 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 3:

so uh quick question for you because i gotta i'm like trying to picture this you guys are watching the fight together and at what like how do you bring this up in the middle of watching the fight like he had to pre-plan this way before you guys either went to your place or his place to watch it was at a different place yeah yeah like the fact that he was like i'm gonna ask zach because when you ask somebody if you can borrow money i guarantee you you have thought about it for days beforehand because it is not easy to ask somebody when you're desperate for money i think okay yeah

00:06:02 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 4:

he probably did think about it but it was kind of like in the public of so it was just let me give you context me and two other buddies two like guys friends so we're all really close so i wonder if he was just asking both of us if all of all of us surveying the crowd hey give us money here give

00:06:20 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 3:

money there i don't know uh what's going on stephanie hi it's mojo in the morning

00:06:24 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 1:

okay um i just have a comment about a friend borrowing money yeah so um about i'd say 18 or 19 years ago i was 19 or 20 i'm 38 now and a friend apparently got arrested i don't know the whole deal but she asked me to borrow a thousand dollars and i was in college but i was like fine you can that was a lot of money but i gave her a thousand dollars yeah expecting to get it back maybe maybe like a year later um never got it back it's 18 years later didn't even think about it i woke up to an email about three weeks ago from cash app saying that i got a cash app from this friend. No way. No way.

00:07:15 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 3:

That's what friends are for.

00:07:18 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 1:

That probably made your day.

00:07:19 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:07:21 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 1:

It was wild. I couldn't believe it.

00:07:24 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 3:

Okay, can I say something real quick about your friend? I would probably help out a friend who's going through the legal issue. Did you say they were going to go to jail?

00:07:35 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:07:36 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 3:

If my friend's going to go to jail, I mean, there's some friends that should go to jail. But, like, for, you know, like, Kev calls me, all right? Kev says to me, hey, I need this legal issues. I'm probably, you know, okay, let's figure something out. Yeah. But I'm not going to. Guy wants to go on a vacation with his girl.

00:07:56 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 4:

It's like a surprise. I'm trying not to give too many details. But, yeah. Do not justify it. Yeah.

00:08:01 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 3:

I know. I know. And the fact that, you know, I don't care, you know, when you get paid back. if you ever just get paid back, that's a person that that's been living on her heart for a long time. The fact that she owed you a thousand bucks. 18 years is crazy. Ray, what's up? By the way, should you give interest? Absolutely. Should it be a thousand dollars with 18 years of

00:08:21 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

interest on there? Go ahead, Ray. What's going on? So I just want to say, uh, I've been cooked a couple of times, uh, particularly like my pet peeve is when you let somebody borrow money. like I let a couple people borrow money before and then they pay you in like small increments because like they messed up their money so now you know you came out of pocket a thousand dollars and now you're getting back like a hundred at a time that's the absolute worst but I do I do want to shout out a buddy of mine I'm not going to say his name but I believe he's listening um I had a friend of mine actually borrow ten thousand dollars for his wedding and uh I want to I want to shout him out because his honeymoon was two days after his wedding and they uh they opened up some gifts they opened up some envelopes and the day after his wedding he came and brought me back my ten thousand dollars like he was like he promised so it's uh i think you should know like i like what i would tell zach is like if you know he's not gonna pay you back you're probably right you know so like don't lose sleep over it you got friends that you know will and you got friends that you know well. It is what it is.

00:09:33 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 3:

Ray, if you got 10 grand just to give a dude for his wedding, what do you got going on, man? Where's that money coming from?

00:09:42 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

The hard work and making the right decisions. Okay. I like that, Ray.

00:09:46 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 4:

Can I borrow a few bucks?

00:09:51 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 3:

That's enough. Darian, what's up, Darian?

00:09:57 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 2:

What's up, Maljo?

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

How you doing, buddy?

00:10:00 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 2:

I'm good. What's going on, everybody? Good morning, Tangerian. Yeah, yeah.

00:10:07 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 5:

What do you got to say? Anything interesting about this whole thing?

00:10:11 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, I'm sorry. I was listening. So I had a friend of mine who I was friends for, what is that like? I think it was 13 years. And there have been a couple of times he would ask me for money here and there. And it wasn't a real big amount. I think the most he asked me for was like $20. I'm like, all right, cool. And he would always tell me he would pay me back. And I'm like, okay. He'd be like, man, I just need this real quick for some gas. And then when I get to work, I'll give it to you. He would get to work, and he wouldn't give it to me. So I would wait a day. I would be like, hey, what's going on with the 20? He'd be like, oh, yeah, my bad, my bad. I'm like, all right. So last time he called me, he says, hey, D, man, I need $10. I'm like, okay, I'm thinking maybe he needs it for some gas, or maybe he needs something to eat. No. He said, man, I'm trying to put some money on this parlay for the fights tonight. No. I said, okay. I gave it to him. I'm like, okay, it's whatever. He's like, yeah, I'll give it to you right back. Man, I didn't get that $10 back. It's been over a year now.

00:11:12 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 3:

I said, okay.

00:11:13 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 2:

I did it.

00:11:14 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 3:

So I let it go.

00:11:16 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 2:

I was like, huh?

00:11:17 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 3:

Start a tab for him.

00:11:19 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 2:

Listen, I was going to have to, and I was going to have to, but to me, it was just about the principle.

00:11:24 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 5:

I bet you there are more and more people that are money-screwed because of all the gambling apps and stuff. Charles wants to say something. What's up, Charles?

00:11:34 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, hey, Mojo. I was just wondering, who rekindled the relationship, as Zach put it, and do you think you rekindled it just to ask you for money?

00:11:42 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 2:

I know, that was one of my thoughts, too.

00:11:44 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 5:

Is there an ulterior motive to you guys?

00:11:46 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 4:

That's because it was so recent. Was it you or him that happened? Well, it was for the fight. So who called who first? Oh, it was a group chat. and my other buddy invited both of us to his house okay did he ask the other friends for money

00:11:58 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 5:

yeah yeah yeah okay you said that all right um what's up fred how you doing yes how's it doing i'm doing okay fred fred what's happening you got any money i can borrow

00:12:10 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 3:

i wish but one of my old friends i had to be friends because of this situation uh basically he was uh i call him a fake d-boy can't know what i mean by that but uh so his baby mama basically took her car away from him he come to me like hey i need to do this that and the other so i can pick my kids up do my little moves and i get him a rental not gonna say the company's name and in the midst of that he get the rental damage no i take the car back They said, yeah, we're going to give you an estimate. Whatever they gave me, the estimate was $1,600. I said, hey, bro, I got to pay those $1,600.

00:13:00 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 5:

Dude, I would be limited.

00:13:01 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 3:

Trying to do something nice. You could give me 20 here, 25 there. He didn't want to give me nothing. One of his excuses was, well, you won't be able to get no rental anyways. Oh, we're not friends after that. Hey, so I stayed friendly for like another two years before we got, before I befriended, I'm watching him buying laptops. Oh, that always happens. You had to pay the $1,600? Yeah. Yes! Then I brought it to him afterwards, a year later, after we stopped being friends, he gonna tell me, get it in blood.

00:13:36 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. Fred, this guy's not, you know what I would do in this case, Fred?

00:13:41 - 00:13:42 | Unknown:

How can you beat?

00:13:43 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 5:

Hire somebody to beat him up. Oh, my God. Break his knee.

00:13:47 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 3:

I don't know what I want to do on the radio, but yeah.

00:13:50 - 00:14:20 | Speaker 5:

No, no, no, don't do that. They can come back and get the, by the way, I did not say what I just said. No, I did not say that. So, uh, all right. Well, thank you for the call for it. Appreciate it. That's, that's crazy. By the way, I say this to you and this is, you know, sounding like, honestly, a friend of mine said to me, shame on you for signing over and getting the guy, even though you wanted to do the right thing. The problem, though, is you've got to look at the liability of the whole situation and the liability of renting him a car under your name is not good.

00:14:21 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 1:
