Lemonada. It will be hard to catch them. So I'm making a big decision right now. Starting with next week's leaderboard, we are going to create a separate leaderboard for groups and then one for individuals. Everything's going to be the same for both leaderboards in terms of prizes. The winners of both leaderboards still get to have a pizza party with me. This will just help the kids who are riding on their own have a fair shot at the top slots because, wow, these groups of siblings are writing a lot of stories. Writing with a friend or a sibling can be so fun. So my hats are off to Zeb and Ruben in Oregon and Theo, Richard and Elliot in Indiana. Great work, everybody. And as for individuals, it is really neck and neck right now with some incredible entries. Big congrats to those on this week's leaderboard, especially Brooklyn in Pennsylvania and Gus in Canada, who are tied for first place. Not too far behind them, of course, are Tabitha in Arizona, Maya in Colorado, Alessandro in Spain, Adrian in Georgia, Evie in Canada, Vivi in Connecticut, Acadia in Massachusetts, Jack in Illinois, Raffi in Rhode Island, Tommy in Rhode Island, Albie in North Carolina, and Victor in Australia. You can see the leaderboard right now at storypirates.com slash leaderboard. But remember, next week we're splitting groups of kids off from the individuals, so there'll be two leaderboards. It'll look a little different. Everyone else, stay strong, keep writing. It's still so early in the summer, and there is so much more time left for everyone to write stories and plenty of time to shoot up the rankings. And speaking of kids who aren't on the leaderboard yet, Shout out to Florence in Washington, D.C., who says, I love story pirates. P.S. I call submarines submarines. And I pronounce crayons the way Peter says. Wow. I had no idea that submarines was a thing. And shout out to Serena in Illinois, who says, please read all the warnings before you buy a hot air balloon. Fantastic advice, Serena. I will absolutely do that.

00:02:51 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 2:

We want to read as many stories as we can, and we'll be updating the leaderboard every week at storypirates.com slash leaderboard, and I'll be shouting out more kids here on the podcast. Grownups, you can find links to the leaderboard and find out how to get your kids involved in the Summer Story Challenge in the show notes for today's episode. Okay, on to today's episode after a few more words for the grownups.

00:03:21 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 1:

What up, squirmy-wormies? It's your worm, DJ Squirmalot. The world's greatest DJ who also happens to be a worm. And boy, oh boy, I am having a great summer. I've been having barbecues, going to the water park, hanging with my friends, and of course, doing laptop DJ sets for thousands and thousands of my adoring fans on the beaches of Ibiza. It's a tough life! But hey, at least I get to fly first class wherever I go! But of course, this summer is not your ordinary average summer. No way! This summer is special because there's an incredible sporting event going on this summer that only happens every four years. And every four years, I get so pumped to watch games, cheer for my favorite team. I believe in miracles, Squirmy Wormies. And if I cheer loud enough, maybe this year we'll win it all. Of course, you've surely figured it out by now. I'm talking about... The World Cup! Woo-hoo! Yeah! Go, go, go! We love it! Lee! What are you doing here?

00:04:54 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 2:

I'm cheering for the World Cup.

00:04:57 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 1:

The World Cup?

00:04:58 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, the... soccer or football tournament where countries from all over the world come together to play each other and find out who's the best? Hmm. Never heard of it. You've never heard of the World Cup? What rock have you been living under? A very fancy one that sits on top of premium

luxury dirt. Huh? You know, Lee, I'm happy for you and your World Cup. It sounds cute, Quaint I'm glad you and Whomever Has something like that to enjoy Aren't you cute

00:05:34 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

I don't understand DJ Squirm a lot I thought that's what you were talking about In your introduction You said you were excited for a sporting event

00:05:42 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 1:

Uh huh

00:05:43 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 2:

That happens every four years Correct And you're excited to cheer for your own team

00:05:49 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 1:

Exactly

00:05:50 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 2:

And that you believe in miracles

00:05:53 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 1:

You really weren't listening, Lee.

00:05:55 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 2:

Well, if you're not talking about the World Cup, what were you talking about?

00:06:00 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

Oh, Lee. Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee.

00:06:04 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 2:

Can you...

00:06:04 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 1:

Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee.

00:06:08 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 2:

What is the...

00:06:09 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 1:

Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee.

00:06:10 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 2:

Just tell me what you were talking about, if you're not talking about the World Cup.

00:06:14 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 1:

The Worm Cup, Lee!

00:06:16 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 2:

Isn't that what I said? The World Cup?

00:06:19 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 1:

Worm! Worm Cup! Worm Cup, Lee!

00:06:23 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 2:

The Worm Cup? What's that?

00:06:26 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 1:

It's an extremely famous soccer or football tournament where countries from all over the world come together every four years to play each other and find out who's the best.

00:06:36 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 2:

And that's not the World Cup?

00:06:38 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 1:

This one's just for worms.

00:06:40 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I see.

00:06:42 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 1:

I'm actually very surprised you haven't heard of it, Lee.

00:06:46 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

It's really famous then?

00:06:47 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 1:

Yes, Lee. Every country from around the world sends a team of worm soccer or football players to the worm cup to battle it out.

00:06:57 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 2:

Don't you have to have feet to play soccer?

00:07:00 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 1:

Yes, of course, Lee. One long pink foot. That's also your entire body.

00:07:04 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 2:

At least you don't have to worry about accidentally touching the ball with your hands, right?

00:07:09 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 1:

Very funny, Lee. You're so clever, aren't you?

00:07:14 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 2:

It's just, I can't even picture a bunch of worms playing soccer.

00:07:19 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 1:

The Worm Cup is very prestigious, Lee. We take it very seriously.

00:07:24 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

I'm sorry. I guess I just need to see it in order to really understand.

00:07:29 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 1:

Well, lucky for you, I happen to have tickets to one of the big upcoming matches.

00:07:35 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 2:

You do? Can I come with you? You'd like that, wouldn't you? Yes, I really, really would.

00:07:41 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 1:

Lee, do you understand how valuable these tickets are? They're only available to worms who are very rich and or are extremely famous celebrities like me.

00:07:51 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 2:

I get it. If you can't bring me, I totally understand.

00:07:54 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 1:

Okay, finally, since you're begging me, I suppose you can come as my guests to the game.

00:08:01 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 2:

Really? Wow! Thanks, DJ Squirmalot!

00:08:04 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 1:

But I'm only doing this because you clearly need to appreciate worm culture!

00:08:10 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 2:

I understand. I'll be super respectful the whole time.

00:08:13 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 1:

You better be. Now you better go get ready. It's time to go soon.

00:08:18 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 2:

All right, cool. I'll just go change or something, and I'll meet you back right here.

00:08:22 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 1:

Hurry up. Gosh, I really am so generous to him. Listeners, why don't we listen to today's first mixtape track? From Ellie, a seven-year-old in California, here's The Time Machine.

00:08:44 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 4:

A little girl named Susie That's me! She was having a walk and found a time machine She went inside to see what she could see But when she opened the door again She had been time traveling to Jurassic times Wow! Look at all those dinosaurs! And all of a sudden, a T-Rex appeared Susie ran for cover just in case they're coming for her

00:09:17 - 00:09:25 | Unknown:

But when she was surrounded, she was out of ideas I tried to set her top, step forward and say

00:09:25 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 3:

Or, I mean, can you come to the potluck? Can you come to the potluck? We didn't mean to frighten you Just thought you'd like to be included, so Can you come to the potluck?

00:09:46 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, sure. The potluck had a wild spread. Does anyone know if this is paleo? Stegosaurus baked his Pangea-famous banana bread. The Ploticus brought green leaves. casserole. It's my mom's recipe. T-Rex sped all yesterday, marinating the mammoth rolls. Cece was surprised she didn't know where to begin. She had that kind of hunger you get when you've been time traveling. Once she realized the potluck was a lot of fun, she stood on her chair

00:10:24 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 2:

I'm glad I came to the potluck I'm glad I came to the potluck When I got here I felt all alone But you made me feel right at home So I'm glad I came to the potluck

00:10:46 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 4:

After the feast they played a game of Duck, duck, beast Duck, duck Peace, gotcha! Then Susie tried to round her two of pin the tail on the saber too. Pin the tail! Pin the tail! The last potluck activity was a really big game of dino-opoly. Susie didn't win a single one, but she was having so much fun. much fun she stood on her chair and she said to everyone i'm glad i came to the potluck

00:11:29 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 2:

i'm glad i came to the potluck i time traveled here all alone but you made me feel right at home So I'm glad I came I'm glad I came to the potluck

00:11:51 - 00:11:59 | Unknown:

00:12:23 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 5:

It's the Story Pirates World Cup Mixtape, and I'm your host, BJ Squirmalot. And that was the Time Machine. Meanwhile, Lee and I have arrived at the single largest sporting event the worm world has to offer. The Wyrm Cup!

00:12:42 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 3:

Uh, yeah, about that. DJ Squirmylot, you say we've arrived, and though the garden we're standing in is beautiful, I'm not seeing any sort of stadium that would be big enough for, like, a huge soccer game.

00:12:57 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 5:

Oh, Lee. Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee. What? Don't you see that raised garden bed?

00:13:06 - 00:13:12 | Speaker 3:

That little rectangular garden bed over there? Yeah, so what?

00:13:12 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 5:

The one that's full of beautiful, delicious dirt.

00:13:16 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but I don't really see what...

00:13:17 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 5:

Walk a little closer to it, Lee.

00:13:19 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 3:

Okay. What in the... DJ Squirmalot! There must be hundreds of thousands of worms in this garden bed!

00:13:29 - 00:13:30 | Speaker 5:

Now do you get it?

00:13:30 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 3:

And they're all wearing colorful jerseys and cheering at the top of their lungs!

00:13:34 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 5:

This is the worm cup, Lee!

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 3:

And it's just in this little raised garden bed?

00:13:39 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 5:

This is the biggest worm stadium on Earth, Lee. Worms are small!

00:13:44 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 3:

Right, right. Look, I think the players are taking the field. I think the game's about to start.

00:13:51 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 5:

Well, that's my cue. You'll have to excuse me, Lee. I have to go to work now.

00:13:56 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 3:

Go to work? You're going to miss the game?

00:13:58 - 00:13:59 | Unknown:

Ha ha ha!

00:13:59 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 5:

Of course not, Lee. I'm the celebrity play-by-play announcer for the Worm Cup!

00:14:04 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 3:

00:17:56 - 00:19:15 | Speaker 2:

My name is Rosie. I am a rose half. I got a story for you. I am a flower with magic powers. Here's what I love to do. I love to fly. I'm a magical rose and I'll fly. I used to do it at night when the stars were so bright So nobody else could see That was my chance to find all the plants That had the good food for me I have a magic mouth that looks like a petal I eat with my very special big mouth petal It was good times, I guess But now I confess, the routine got a little bit boring Then I found out there were more magic things For me to eat in the morning In the morning So I decided to fly Out in the sunlight Fly In front of everyone Then all the people, they started to see me The people said, what the heck is that Rose doing?

00:19:16 - 00:19:59 | Speaker 3:

I felt, what the heck is that Rose doing? I felt, what the heck, what the, what the heck? I thought, what are those people doing looking good? She's ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

00:20:00 - 00:21:12 | Speaker 1:

Something a little bit shocking, something fly-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah- I think it's super cool how you fly. I told my parents about Rosie, but they didn't believe me. A flying rose? That can fly? In the sky? Honey, I don't know about that. Yeah, you should take a nap. I told my parents about the rose again And this time they believed me A flying rose That can fly In the sky Oh, that's just beautiful

00:21:12 - 00:21:14 | Speaker 2:

It's amazing

00:21:14 - 00:22:00 | Speaker 1:

But the happiest end is when I told my new friend Rosie, there's a surprise for you I asked my parents to give you a house And my wish came true So after you fly, you can come home I can fly, come home after I roam Then I gave Rosie some seeds for magic planting I planted the seeds and became a flower settler I felt happy She felt happy I felt happy, I felt happy to survive

00:22:00 - 00:22:16 | Unknown:

You can come home, you can fly You can come home I feel so thankful, thank you for your love

00:22:21 - 00:24:59 | Speaker 2:

squirmy wormies from all over the world welcome back to the worm cup i'm your play-by-play celebrity commentator dj squirmy lot that last song was rosie the rose written by a six-year-old in california named avery and now back to the match as you all know Today's match is between the New Zealand Flat Worms and from the United States, the Carolina Earth Worms. And of course, there are huge amounts of New Zealand and American Worms here to cheer on their teams. Beow, beow, beow, beow, beow. Right now, New Zealand is keeping possession well with a patient buildup looking for a seam to open up in the U.S. defense. Oh, looks like New Zealand is on the pocket of space and is attacking, but a strong challenge from the U.S. Worms here. And the back line is holding firm. But wait, the U.S. counter-attack is on. Can they make this count? The U.S. worms are sprinting on the field, and if you've never seen worms sprint, it's something to behold. I don't even really know how to describe what it looks like, but I'll try. Several long pink tubes jumping up as fast as they can all the way down the field. There, I did it. It actually wasn't that hard after all. The U.S. has three on two now, and the pressure is building. The U.S. is going for it. They're kicking the ball around with their long pink foots, and here's a shot on goal. Oh, the goalkeeper for New Zealand parries it away. A huge missed opportunity for the U.S. here. You don't get many chances like that. But wait. One of the New Zealand flatworms is burrowing into the dirt with the ball, which, by the way, is absolutely legal in worm football. They're underground now, and now all of the players are looking around confused, searching the dirt for signs of which way New Zealand is going, but no one seems to be able to figure it out. The atmosphere is electric in the arena. This is the decisive moment! The tension is palpable! And they're asking all the questions now! The New Zealand worm with the ball could pop up out of the dirt literally anywhere in the stadium at any second! Wait! There he is! Hopping up near the U.S. goal! He kicks the ball with his long big foot! Goal! New Zealand wins it all! They win it all The breakthrough finally comes The goalkeeper had no chance What a finish, folks wow this is incredible i've never seen so much

00:25:00 - 00:25:06 | Speaker 3:

action, excitement, and drama. Consider me a huge fan of the Worm Cup, DJ Squirmalot.

00:25:06 - 00:25:15 | Speaker 1:

And to celebrate New Zealand's win, let's hear another hot track from Dylan, a six-year-old in New York. Here's The Grouchy Friends.

00:25:24 - 00:25:50 | Speaker 2:

Oh, the sun is shining. The birds are chirping And there's not but a single cloud Good morning, Cloud Good morning, Bear It's a beautiful morning for me, Bear Except... Hello, Bear My neighbor horse is just too loud

00:25:50 - 00:26:05 | Speaker 3:

Oh, what a wonderful morning, isn't it, Bear? It reminds me of an old anecdote My uncle's farrier's former college roommate used to tell Or should I say former uni flatmate, since it was when he was doing that semester abroad and surely I'm ignoring him.

00:26:05 - 00:26:58 | Speaker 2:

Of course, I want to be nice, but you're talking much too much and much too loud for the morning. Oh, well, I gotta tell you, Bear, hearing that makes me a little grouchy. Oh, I'm making you grouchy? You're making me grouchy. You're making me grouchy. You're making me grouchy. You're making me grouchy. Horse. Bear. Horse. Bear. Horse. Bear! Bear! Bear! Grouchy friends, we're just a pair of grouchy friends. I'm a horse. I'm a bear. I have lots to say. And I just don't care. Oh! Grouchy friends, we're just a pair of grouchy friends. And we'll be neighbors. Buddy! Calls till the end. You know what, horse? Let me apologize. I'm not a morning bear, and I'm still opening my eyes.

00:26:58 - 00:27:27 | Speaker 3:

Well, there I understand, morning noise can be jarring. So from the bottom of my heart, let me say I'm very, very accepting of your apology. Oh. What's wrong? I just thought you were going to say you're sorry. Sorry for what? For being too noisy. I'm not being too noisy, I'm being too noisy for you, which makes it a you problem. Horse.

00:27:28 - 00:27:29 | Speaker 2:

You're making me grouchy!

00:27:29 - 00:27:30 | Speaker 3:

You're making me grouchy!

00:27:30 - 00:27:42 | Speaker 2:

You're making me grouchy! You're making me grouchy! Horse. Bear. Horse. Bear. Horse. Bear. Horse. Ah! Grouchy friends, we're just a pair of grouchy friends.

00:27:42 - 00:27:45 | Speaker 3:

You know there are 400,000 blood types for horses.

00:27:45 - 00:27:57 | Speaker 2:

You know that I just don't care. Of courses. Grouchy friends, we're such a pair of grouchy friends and we'll be neighbors, buddies, pals to the end. Tap break.

00:28:00 - 00:28:04 | Speaker 3:

You know, a horse doesn't have a soft chew. Ha ha. Ha.

00:28:04 - 00:28:35 | Speaker 2:

Shuffle up to Buffalo. Stop. Stop. Stop tap dancing. You got four hooves. That's four too many. Yeah. Grouchy friends, we're just a pair of grouchy friends. Force quiet down a bit, what do you say? Oh, bear, you know it's coming. Don't do it! Hey! Grouchy friends, we're such a pair of grouchy friends. And we'll be neighbors, buddies, pals till the end.

00:28:35 - 00:28:46 | Speaker 3:

Now, some might ask why the two of us are friends. Well, it's simple. You'll always be there, on that I can depend.

00:28:46 - 00:29:02 | Speaker 2:

Yes, you've got a noisy nature, but I guess that's just part of you. So let me say, Horse, that I truly do love you. Horse, what are you doing?

00:29:02 - 00:29:11 | Speaker 3:

I'm building a shed. Why are you building a shed? Oh, where else am I going to store all my fireworks, jackhammers, and my collection of vintage cars with busted mufflers?

00:29:11 - 00:29:48 | Speaker 2:

Horse. Grouchy friends, Grouchy!

00:30:00 - 00:30:05 | Speaker 3:

I think the fireworks set off all the jackhammers, which in turn started all the cars somehow.

00:30:06 - 00:30:06 | Unknown:

Friends!

00:30:08 - 00:30:10 | Speaker 3:

Horse and bear to grouchy friends!

00:30:13 - 00:30:22 | Speaker 1:

You know, that was actually a really short match, DJ Squirmalot. I thought it would last at least long enough for there to be more than one goal.

00:30:22 - 00:30:28 | Speaker 3:

Lee, do you have any idea how much energy it takes for worms to hop around like that while kicking a ball?

00:30:28 - 00:30:31 | Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, that makes sense.

00:30:31 - 00:30:45 | Speaker 2:

Listeners, we'll be right back after a few words for the grown-ups. Welcome back, squirmy-wormies.

00:30:45 - 00:30:54 | Speaker 3:

Let's continue to celebrate the worm cup with another hot track from a second grader named Elon. He's Cement Dude.

00:30:58 - 00:31:39 | Speaker 6:

way out west there was this fella I want to tell you about he had a real name like you and me a name that his loving parents gave him but he never had much use for it himself see this fella well he was made of cement and he called himself cement dude There once was a man A great, great man Named Cement Dude

00:31:39 - 00:31:41 | Speaker 7:

Cement Dude

00:31:41 - 00:31:47 | Speaker 6:

He was made of cement Just in case that wasn't clear From his name, dude

00:31:47 - 00:31:48 | Speaker 7:

00:32:06 - 00:32:10 | Speaker 4:

Where the cactus plants are brittle and the tumbleweeds glow

00:32:10 - 00:32:13 | Speaker 6:

To the dry, dry, dry, dry desert

00:32:13 - 00:32:15 | Speaker 4:

That's where I'm gonna go

00:32:15 - 00:32:17 | Speaker 6:

That's some end, dude

00:32:17 - 00:32:21 | Unknown:

Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:32:21 - 00:32:25 | Speaker 6:

No sweat, he's beginning to hit his stride

00:32:25 - 00:32:31 | Speaker 4:

As the air gets drier, he's filled with pride I am on my way to glory

00:32:31 - 00:32:36 | Speaker 7:

Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:32:36 - 00:32:39 | Speaker 4:

Every step my resolve gets solidified

00:32:39 - 00:32:46 | Speaker 7:

As his heart starts to harden, so does his hide As he gets to, as he gets to

00:32:46 - 00:32:49 | Speaker 6:

To the dry, dry, dry, dry desert

00:32:49 - 00:32:54 | Speaker 7:

Where the buzzers like to buzz and the scorpions crawl

00:32:54 - 00:32:57 | Speaker 6:

To the dry, dry, dry, dry desert

00:32:57 - 00:33:05 | Speaker 4:

I'm in for the long haul Still cement, dude Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:33:05 - 00:33:14 | Speaker 6:

Every step's getting harder and harder to take And his arms and his thighs are starting to ache He is starting to stiffen up

00:33:14 - 00:33:23 | Unknown:

Ow! Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge Every step starts to sting, starts to crack his soul

00:33:23 - 00:33:34 | Speaker 4:

Every step it gets harder to reach my goal But I'm not gonna give up now Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:33:34 - 00:33:40 | Unknown:

Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:33:40 - 00:33:47 | Speaker 7:

Trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge, trudge

00:33:47 - 00:33:59 | Speaker 5:

What's going on? Help! I can't move!

00:34:06 - 00:34:39 | Speaker 6:

There once was a man, a great, great man named Cement Dude. Cement Dude! He was made of cement Just in case that wasn't clear from his name His name is Cement Dude Dude And the one thing you can bet And the one thing Cement Dude didn't get Maybe you would have known Where's the one place Cement Dude should never ever go To the dry, dry, dry, dry desert

00:34:39 - 00:34:43 | Speaker 7:

Where the sun can make a brick out of salt and clay

00:34:43 - 00:34:50 | Speaker 6:

Do the dry, dry, dry, dry desert And cement do the bait on that dry, dry day

00:34:50 - 00:34:59 | Speaker 4:

Over dry, dry, dry, dry desert I learned a very valuable lesson If you're made of cement

00:35:00 - 00:35:09 | Speaker 5:

In the desert, you'll be discontent Because being hard as rock Is really quite distressing

00:35:09 - 00:35:11 | Speaker 6:

That's cement, dude

00:35:11 - 00:35:13 | Speaker 5:

And stay with cement, dude

00:35:13 - 00:35:18 | Speaker 6:

So sing about cement, dude Cement, dude Cement, dude

00:35:18 - 00:35:38 | Speaker 1:

It's the Story Pirates Worm Cup Mixtape I'm your host, D.J. Squirm-a-Lot. Here's another song for you from six-year-old Olivia. It's the girl who wanted to eat the sky.

00:35:42 - 00:36:41 | Speaker 3:

Hi, everybody. I'm a little girl. And this is the story of how one day I ate up the sky. Now, of course, I asked my parents first, and they told me no. I couldn't believe it, so I decided to ask them again. Mama, can I eat the sky? Eat the sky, eat the sky. Papa, I want to eat the sky, eat the sky, eat the sky. Oh, it's beautiful and I, I, I want to eat the sky. So why, why, why can't I? No reason. My parents, no matter the season, always like to tell me no. So I went for a walk just to let it all go As I'm walking, a genie came by my way He asked, do you have a wish? And right away I say, I wanna eat up the sky But my parents won't let me even though I cry, cry, cry Can I eat the sky? Eat the sky, eat the sky Papa, I wanna eat the sky Eat the sky, eat the sky

00:36:41 - 00:36:48 | Speaker 2:

Oh, it's beautiful and I, I, I Want to eat the sky

00:36:48 - 00:37:37 | Speaker 3:

So why, why, why can't I? Genie said, I understand and your wish is my command. In a blink, I ate up the sky. The sky was delicious like worn apple pie, but all of a sudden, and this ain't no lie, my tummy was turning and going awry. Then my parents happened to come by, saw I was in pain and they thought I might die. To the doctor, they took me real quick. Said the doctor, Hey girl, you are sick. There's a thing of which you're allergic. I told him no, please don't think this a trick Then the nurse looked me right in the eye And she said, did you eat up the sky? I was shocked, oh how did she know? Was it cause my belly was thick and it glowed? With the stars-a and the moon-a and the sun and a sea-a-blu-a Did not eat just one part but two, I ate the whole thing, is that how you knew up?

00:37:37 - 00:37:50 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, but also outside I met with your genie and he did confide to me So now go home and rest, and in no time, you'll be back to your best. Oh yeah, I ate the sky, ate the sky, ate the sky.

00:37:51 - 00:38:23 | Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I ate the sky, ate the sky, ate the sky. Oh, a genie said that I, I, I, I could eat the sky. But why, why, why did I? Oh yeah, I ate the sky, ate the sky, ate the sky. Oh yeah, I ate the sky, ate the sky, ate the sky Oh, one genie said that I, I, I, I could eat the sky But why, why, why did I?

00:38:23 - 00:38:34 | Speaker 3:

Ugh, my tummy still hurts From here on in, I'm sticking with the three major food groups Fruits, vegetables, and sugary, sugary cereals I wanna eat the sky

00:38:34 - 00:38:56 | Speaker 5:

I wanna eat the sky You know, on second thought, all of this could have been prevented if I had just listened

00:38:56 - 00:38:57 | Speaker 3:

to my parents.

00:38:57 - 00:39:46 | Speaker 6:

00:39:46 - 00:39:51 | Unknown:

There he's climbing up a car Climb that tree There he's climbing up a car

00:39:51 - 00:39:59 | Speaker 5:

00:40:00 - 00:40:10 | Speaker 2:

Mom, I told my friends I could climb this tree, but I can't. Berry, dear, all you have to do is practice. But I... Now get to practicing.

00:40:12 - 00:40:49 | Speaker 5:

There once was a girl Hi! Who never took a bath Nope! And boy, oh boy, did she get dirty Mud on her face, dirty Mud in her eyes, dirty Mud on her toes and feet and legs She looked like a scary mud monster Her parents said, we can't take you out If you look like that How about you take a bath? The little girl said, no! So they did not take her out And the scary mud monster felt sad She couldn't go out with mom and dad She couldn't see the friends she had How did her life end up so bad?

00:44:28 - 00:44:29 | Unknown:

Oh, she was

00:44:29 - 00:44:59 | Speaker 3:

Mud on her face, dirty Mud in her eyes, dirty Mud on her toes and feet, legs She looked like a sad mud monster One day she woke up and decided This is gross, I was misguided And she jumped right in the bath

00:45:00 - 00:45:03 | Speaker 2:

Went to show her parents what that soapy water did

00:45:03 - 00:45:10 | Speaker 1:

They didn't recognize her, asked Excuse me, where's our kid? I am your daughter

00:45:10 - 00:45:12 | Speaker 3:

Said the monster, now pristine

00:45:12 - 00:45:18 | Speaker 1:

It's just that I look different now Because I'm finally clean

00:45:18 - 00:45:43 | Speaker 2:

She's no more Mud on her face, dirty Mud in her eyes, dirty Mud on her toes and feet, legs She looked like one clean monster I'll take a bath every day That's what you'd hear that monster say Now she's the girl who always took a bath
