Shall we play a game? Boy, we're just blowing through vacation time. Here we are on a Monday edition of the TBTL Summer Games. We've already got an entire week in the rear view, Andrew. It goes by so fast, doesn't it?

It really does, and this has been great fun. I have one regret. I don't know why I would even introduce this right now, but I feel like our very first summer game show, we blew through that so fast because there were so many questions that I felt like we were a little speedy on that. And I feel like every episode since then has almost been better than the last, and so I'm having a lot of fun. But do you want to go back and rerecord Monday's show at a slower pace, at a more relaxed way?

I actually already did with Phyllis, so we're actually good. Her food age was 21, like the cool cat that she is. Huh. That's just interesting news. It's all in the Thrive Notes. I don't know if you had a chance to go over that with Alex.

You know what? I haven't. Anyway, well, learning all kinds of things this summer. That's what summer's about, right? Growth and being put in one's place.

Now, you're still working throughout this. You're doing show-related things. You're posting the shows. You're editing them. i'm allowed to rap on this show andrew do you know that um that i i think i mentioned this to you at some point that like it was during the pandemic it wasn't that long ago maybe about halfway through the pandemic so maybe half a year ago or so i realized that a um a used record store that i love it's right underneath the neptune theater in the university district opened up again and i was so excited to see that they were open and i went down there and i was looking for some de la soul discs which of course they didn't have because those things are very rare um but i I did buy those two digital underground records, Sex Packets, and This is an EP release. And those are now my barbecuing musical companions because I like to – when I'm barbecuing, I like to take my old – my tiny little boom box that I bought a couple of years ago at Goodwill downstairs.

By the way, I don't know why I need to do this dig here, but I was hanging out with Kamara Kev this weekend, and he mentioned that he, I believe, just completed his boating license course. He now has a boat license.

Because Dykstra said if he gets his boating license, he can drive Dykstra's pontoon boat.

Oh, see, I didn't know that. He just said it was a very easy exercise, and then he kind of actually enjoyed learning about some of these things about boating. But I did think that the irony is he does not own a boat, but he has a boating license. You at one point owned two boats and had no boating license.

Well, the cobbler's children go without shoes. Yes, of course. No, but I mean, let me say this. This is going to sound defensive, but I believe that the boating, the thing you do to get your boating license is an online quiz. And it just has to do with like the rules of the sea and who has the right of way and how to respond to emergencies, et cetera. The challenge in driving a boat, it's the nuance. It's the little things like how does the rudder respond or how does the motor do when you do this to it? Those are all things that are not really covered in the license, but that I would have been better off having a stronger command of that fateful day when I created the most memorable moment in TBTL history.

Yeah, I know that she's done Bulletproof before. I don't know if it's like a modern go-to for her. I think that – I mean, I'm not saying she never does it. Yeah, because for me, that was a big high school movie. That was one of those movies where we watched it over and over again. It was just kind of on a constant loop in high school. Let's see. You know what, Luke? what I think I'm you just pointed out to me that I I have to say something that I had never said or believed in my life before oh my gosh this is a big moment is everybody sitting down I was such a huge Beatles fan growing up like I still know more about the Beatles than I do about anybody in my life you really do it actually quite surprises me your knowledge but I've been trying to you know re-listen to some of my beloved Beatles records including Sgt. Pepper and like Revolver and it turns out all the all the songs that like blew my mind growing up the ones that are more psychedelic and intellectual I find them and I don't want to insult anybody who loves the Beatles I know they're beloved but like I find them so childish and corny and dorky and I was like going back to them in a couple of instances in the past couple of months and I'm kind of like wow the beatles i don't i don't i gotta say if i were maybe trapped on a desert island or deserted peace and love i mean you gotta say like at least the rolling stones i'm not saying they don't have corny songs here and there they had a very long career steelers wheel or what is steel wheels or whatever but like honestly no the the rolling stones probably have more songs that wouldn't make me kind of cringe at this point like and again the thing that really gets me is like hey I want to hold your hand the early Beatles stuff that was just seemed like oldies to me as a kid they didn't mean as much to me because I like the later stuff that was like mind expanding it's all like the mind expanding stuff that I find so sort of embarrassing now whereas the early stuff where it's just like I want to hold your hand straight forward all you need is love she loves you yeah yeah yeah actually all you need is love is later but anyway yeah actually I would probably go with the Stones now which that is a weird thing for me to say and realize about myself wow

i can't believe wow i can't believe that we that we got here i would say and maybe because i like the mind contracting stuff from the beatles a lot like i did love all the early kind of you know teen pop teen bop stuff and then i like a lot of the you know big blackbird things like that i just i still feel like the beatles have way more and i love the rolling stones and the rolling stones have a couple songs that are some of my favorite i mean you know um beast of burden is like one of my probably top 20 favorite songs ever but there's so much variety with the beatles also i just was never that into the the stuff that was really out there of the beatles so that's i guess there's less for me to look back on and go oh this doesn't hold up for me because that was never for me anyway

Like I had two, I wasn't even a, usually a greatest hits kind of guy, but I did have two Rolling Stones collections that I believe were originally like double vinyls. I had them on cassette tape and I think they're just like, um, uh, oh gosh, big hits and phased cookies was the second one and the first one I

I can't believe I'm blanking on it, but, like, they're basically – you have these two records, and it's the – you know, it's kind of a cross-section of their careers, basically, what you need. And I loved those records so much. I'm sorry. You can tell I'm distracted that I cannot believe. Hot Rocks. Hot Rocks. That's what it's called. They're called Hot Rocks and Hot Rocks Part 2, Big Hits and Phased Cookies. And I loved those records, but I don't have – I literally do not have a Rolling Stones actual record. I only have greatest hits. So there's no way I can say I'm more of a Stones guy than a Beatles guy. And I'm looking also like and right now I'm focusing on some of the Beatles songs that I've revisited recently that have left me kind of embarrassed. But also they have all kinds of good shit in between that that I still love. So I'm going to stick with the Beatles for now. But I'm just saying that you're never too old to change.

I mean, of course, I knew about the Beatles. My mom loved the Beatles. But the first thing I ever had from the Beatles was also kind of a Greatest Hits. It was that, I guess it would be called the Blue Album, which we've sort of talked about a lot. That was a Greatest Hits album. And I had that as a cassette, like a double cassette.

I got really trained on their Greatest Hits. And so I think that that made a certain kind of impression on me, too. There are still Beatles songs I don't even know. Because I never, I didn't get into, I really got into, which is the one that has Here Comes the Sun on it. And then has that like Mean Mr. Mustard, Abbey Road. I think I got really into Abbey Road. And I love that kind of like six song kind of ending that just runs, you know, from she came in through the bedroom window all the way through. The montage, yeah. I love that so much. But that was one of the few Beatles albums that I could really tell you about front to back. A lot of my knowledge of the Beatles just from those cassette tapes I had. I want to look at Rubber Soul.

And also, wasn't the joke that the credits went on forever? Yeah, I lifted the credits from the movie Casino. Oh, did you really? Yeah, so the credits were... Well, I think what I did was I might have written in fake names, but I didn't even know what the jobs on a movie would be. But I remember just transcribing all the credits from Casino, and I think then maybe writing in fake names. But the credits were easily four times as long as the film, which was also the joke. I am guessing that you will know this band. I would be surprised if you know – well, not totally surprised, but you might not know the name of this song because I don't think this is something you jammed out to a lot. But take a listen.
