Shall we play a game? Come on, honey, let's play the match game.

00:00:17 - 00:00:56 | Speaker 1:

You strike me and I'll be the blame. Welcome to another TBTL Summer Game. I'm Luke Burbank right over there. My friend, Andrew Walsh. Now, Andrew, we have moved into the part of our little yearly summer break where, at least this time around, the Olympics are also happening right now. The real Olympic, although a lot of people consider this to be the real Olympics. Yeah, I was wondering about that. And so we're essentially like, is this counter-programming? I wonder if we're drawing listeners and viewers away from the real or the other Olympics to this, what is essentially the Olympics of podcasting.

00:00:56 - 00:01:16 | Speaker 2:

This is going to be a real test because I believe this is the first time we've been running our summer games during a Summer Olympics year. I don't think we were doing this four years ago. Actually, would it be five, Luke? Were these Olympics? I'm so dumb. Were these Olympics supposed to happen last year? Are we watching these Olympics a year late? Do you know?

00:01:17 - 00:01:19 | Speaker 1:

I think we are. I think they were supposed to be Tokyo 2020.

00:01:20 - 00:01:21 | Speaker 2:

That's what I thought.

00:01:21 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 1:

It's interesting because, and again, we're recording this now a bit in advance. So, like, the time frame that you and I are alive in in this moment, we still have limited information, but presuming that the Olympics go forward and happen, I've been hearing about basically, for it being Japan, it's surprisingly chill, or I should say lax as far as the, like, COVID stuff goes. I was listening to an interview with somebody who was volunteering at the Olympics to help out. And basically, there was no like they were going to be given one small bottle of hand sanitizer per shift. And they were responsible to self-report if they'd been feeling bad to take their own temperature. Like, it's pretty much sounds like they're just they're not taking they're not overdoing it on the covid protocols for the Olympics, except there's not going to be any crowd and there's going to be no alcohol.

00:02:10 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 2:

I heard that I thought just in the past couple of days, though, and I could be totally wrong about this, but I thought in the past couple of days, I thought that officials were starting to get kind of anxious about things. And we're looking at upping and like kind of enhancing the covid protocols around the games. Had you heard that at all, that that the government was issuing warnings? It sounded to me almost like they were thinking, like, are we ready for this jelly?

00:02:35 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 1:

Well, the other thing, too, I haven't heard that, but I'm sure that is happening. It's a kind of a bad deal for Japan and for Tokyo because no one's traveling to this one other than the athletes. So usually, you know, you build all these facilities, you do this whole thing because you're also going to get a massive influx of tourists. So they're getting kind of all of the responsibility of throwing an Olympics with none of the economic stimulation. So that's, I think, exactly where the listeners were hoping we would start things. Yes. This Tuesday edition of the Summer Games. Yes.

00:03:04 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 2:

Especially since whatever we're talking about has happened well in the past. I mean, not only would this be irritating on a normal show, but but here we are talking about it. But I told you earlier during the summer games that I want to try or I told myself I want to try to pay more attention to the Olympics this year. But I realize I'm already falling behind the eight ball here because I'm just falling behind. Maybe is what I meant to say there, because like I was getting, I think, one of my final x-rays at the doctor's office the other day for this finger. and like the x-ray technician who's a very chatty fellow um yeah dude i know you considered i don't

00:03:41 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 1:

think you'll hear this but have you considered i guess you just have to go to the doctor you have to go to but it sounds like it's always an adventure with this particular i like him i like

00:03:49 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 2:

i have no problem he just it's amazing like the first time i met him in you know you're you're with him for about five minutes he takes you into a room he takes a few photos um puts a lead vest on you i love led vester it's one of my favorite pearl jam songs um and but in this small amount of time i'm learning so much about his life the first time i met and i can't it seemed apropos

00:04:11 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 1:

i had to try to remember what the hell that actual song okay now do it in eight bit um

00:04:19 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 2:

i uh the first time i met him he turned the conversation quickly to let me i said like how are you doing how are you holding up he's like oh pretty good not much going on except i just invested in Airbnb. And then he just was telling me how he was making some investments in Airbnb and that he's been watching some TV shows on some cable network or maybe YouTube learning more about investing. It's like, OK, that's interesting. And then I can't remember what he revealed to me the second time. I think I texted you from the doctor's office. I'm like, guys, at it again. And again, I don't dislike this guy at all. I actually enjoy talking with him, but it's just amazing how much I know about his life. I now know last time I was in there, it was during the heat wave. And so I

00:05:00 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 3:

asked him if he had air conditioning and then he went on to just to tell me about his entire setup in his house he must have like a pretty big house he's got a house with like in his I believe like kind of basement hangout room area he's got two big screen tvs that hang on the wall next to each other so his folks were over and they were watching the baseball game while he was getting ready to watch the basketball game and I know he's got some netting sort of shelves where he keeps his electronics and his remote controls and his xbox and all that stuff that's all hanging up on the wall so that the kids can't get to it like i can really picture this guy's scene you know a lot about this dude does he know that you do a podcast for your job no and i also have not mentioned this i have not mentioned any of this on the podcast before so let's hope that he doesn't start listening during the tbtl summer games because i'm not i'm honestly not making fun of him it's just amazing how in these five minute windows i just learn a lot and it almost i'm almost going to miss him when this is over because i mean you just never know what you're going to learn oh I know he was telling me that he had got obsessed with a – he's obsessed with some TV show. The latest season just came out. I believe it's reality-based in some way, maybe reality-adventure-based. I had texted this to you, but he was telling me that he was able to watch it in faster speed because he just fast-forwards through the parts where there are no talking.

00:06:11 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 2:

Did I tell you that? I texted you about this a while back. I don't think I remember this, but that's an interesting way to experience that kind of content because I think I would argue – I wonder if it's, is it alone, maybe? Where the people are out in the woods or something? I think it was alone. I think you're absolutely right. It's a great show, by the way. But I would make the argument that the quiet parts are also part of the show.

00:06:37 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 3:

Yes, I'm trying to see here. I'd love it if I could find this. I can't find it here. But, yeah, yeah, he was telling me in detail about how he goes about watching the show so he could kind of burn through it while his wife was out of town. Okay, what are we doing for the summer games today, Luke?

00:06:51 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 2:

What kind of garbage bin are you? This was submitted by listener Kevin. And I believe it's created by Kevin, too, I believe. Okay, got it. Kevin says, I just created this personality quiz to find out what kind of garbage bin you are. I thought it would be a good addition to the summer games. It looks like Kevin went on BuzzFeed, I guess, and made this. You can do that. I'm sure this comes up every summer games, and it's new information to me that you can just go on BuzzFeed and actually design a quiz yourself.

00:07:19 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 3:

Yes, and I'm kind of reaching here. I can't remember, somebody created one of these for us last year on BuzzFeed. I haven't played around with the interface, but it seems kind of tempting. So do you want to – actually, we should probably both have this open. Do you want to take a break and then come back and figure out what kind of trash bin we are?

00:07:36 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 2:

I'm the trash bin. Come on, I throw trash everywhere. Nobody does – nobody who's worse at impressions does more impressions than me on a regular basis, which is really weird. Like, that's a weird lane to get into, which is I just I'm letting it fly, particularly during these summer games, whether it's my Professor Frank that was horrible or my Danny DeVito from It's Always Sunny. I don't think your Danny DeVito is terrible, but it's just funny because I have no aptitude for impressions. And yet I just do them all the time on the show. It's a it's a it's a whole shtick that I have going.

00:08:10 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 3:

It's a service is what it is. It's a goddamn service.

00:08:13 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 2:

Yes, it is. Okay, and as somebody who served, I am allowed to board the plane first. I'm going to tell them that next time. Next time I can get a flight to actually happen, I will let them know. All right, let's take that quick break, and then we're going to come back, and we're going to find out what kind of trash bin we are. I'll stop that now. And none of that when we get back on the other side. Stay with us.

00:08:36 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

I'm only happy when it rains. I'm only happy when it's complicated. And though I know you can't appreciate it I'm only happy when it rains

00:08:51 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 2:

Do you think Shirley Manson is really only happy when it rains? Or that was just a clever line?

00:08:57 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 3:

I think she might be attracted to the rain. She might like a good rainy day more than a bunch of hot days in a row. Only happy when, though? Like, totally limited to happiness only on rainy days? Maybe not.

00:09:11 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 2:

I'm looking up Shirley Manson's Wikipedia page And I guess I always assumed Maybe that That was kind of You know in the way that like Marilyn Manson Took on the name of Manson That's not his real name His real name is Brian Warner I think I thought maybe that was just like a rock star name Because it's so associated with an infamous person But that's her real name She was born in Edinburgh

00:09:36 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 3:

I don't know why I'm going to say this but just to not totally leave you hanging and I guess to absorb some of the awkwardness. The reason I was sort of floundering around before, too, when you asked me if Shirley Mason is truly only happy when it rains, I wasn't sure. Would I say Mason?

00:09:53 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:09:54 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 3:

Shirley Manson. I think that's a made-up name. I think her real name is Shirley Mason.

00:10:00 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 2:

And I had to double check to make sure that we should be speaking about her in the first person. And I don't know why. For some reason, when I think of her, I always wonder, oh, did she pass away early? And thankfully, she did not. I wonder if you're confusing her with Dolores O'Reilly from the Cranberries. I think that is it. I think it's a similar period for music. Maybe a slightly similar look. I'm probably wrong about that. But, yeah. And so I'm always – I think this is not the first time where I've had to quickly Google it to see that, yes, she is still with us, thankfully so. I do love this song. I never really got that into garbage, the band. I'm very much into garbage that's picked up once in a while. But I do love this song.

00:10:43 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 1:

Are you ready? Speaking of the Cranberries, by the way, and Dolores O'Riordan, RIP, I was driving the other day and I was listening to the Howard Stern Show and they just bumped back in with – is it Dreams? is the name of that the big the really big cranberries i mean they had a bunch of really big hits but man the cranberries man that's some good ass music i'm sorry i'll i'll argue with anyone who says it's not i don't think anyone's saying it's not but like i don't i'm not the kind of person who like rushes out to put on a cranberry song but man that song really really was just like put some wind in my sails as i was driving around i literally think i know

00:11:17 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 2:

there are three hits and that's it which is weird because oh no i also know zombie and linger yes And also they did do a version of – they have a song on the If I Were a Carpenter, not soundtrack, but a compilation record that came out in the 90s with a bunch of alt bands doing covers of Carpenter's songs. I got it because Sonic Youth was on there, but also – Everything comes back to Sonic Youth during the TBTL summer game. Sonic Youth does a version of Superstar on there. Again, you wouldn't like it. It's not as aggressive as that Simpsons theme song we heard the other day, but I love their version of Superstar. but they do a version of there were birds in the sky, but I never heard them. No. No, wait. Till there was you? Yeah, is it Till there was you? I'm really ruining the summer games, I feel like.

00:12:04 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 1:

I don't think you're ruining it, but I do think we should jump into what kind of trash bin are we. And by the way, I stifled the urge to do Danny DeVito there. So you're welcome, America. Should we get into this quiz?

00:12:15 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 2:

You kind of made a promise, didn't you?

00:12:17 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 1:

I promised I would be on my best behavior.

00:12:20 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 2:

Yes, they long to be close to you is the name of the song Yeah Is this what I was singing before? I don't know You are near Just like me They long to be close to you It's so beautiful Oh my gosh, it's so beautiful

00:12:43 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 1:

I did not know that that version of that song existed And that's amazing That's like a really good use of Dolores O'Riordan's talent. So, all right. What kind of trash bin are you, Andrew? This was by listener Kevin. It's at BuzzFeed. I think you could actually just go take this quiz. I would, I just clicked on the link, and I guess because BuzzFeed will let you make your own quiz, the URLs are also incredibly long. Yes. So I don't know if you just can maybe Google BuzzFeed, which trash bin are you. It's Kevin is the community contributor, listener Kevin, who put this together.

00:13:14 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 2:

Okay, so the very first question is, when do you put your bins out at the curb? And the options are the morning of pickup, as soon as humanly possible, whenever I remember, whenever I'm done partying, when is pickup day, or the night before pickup? Now, I'm struggling here between the night before pickup, which is true. But actually, no, mine is often out there, especially in the summertime, before the sun goes down. So I'm going to go with as soon as humanly possible.

00:13:42 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 1:

That's an accurate answer for you. I'm going to say – now, I have a sort of different garbage situation here living in an apartment building. But I'm going to rely on my years of living in a house and taking the garbage out for my answers. And I was a night before kind of guy when I was living in Bellingham because it's a nice feeling to have it out there on the street and to just know it's handled. And it's a bad feeling to forget and hear the garbage truck a block away and be scrambling for your slippers to try to get the garbage down.

00:14:08 - 00:14:13 | Speaker 2:

Yes, yes. And then you get the note on your garbage can, must be out by 6 a.m.

00:14:13 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 1:

And now unfortunately that's Carrie's life I assume she's still using the same garbage can I mean really that was my transgression And now she has to live under the stain Of that garbage one time Not being out at 6.30

00:14:25 - 00:14:31 | Speaker 2:

Does it give you any anxiety on a Sunday night Or whatever it was to wonder whether or not Carrie has taken the garbage out

00:14:31 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 1:

I did think about that the other day Because that was very much my job I was the only one who did it It was very in that way gendered I guess And Obviously the garbage is getting taken out, so I guess she's on the job now, unless she's trained Rudy how to do it, which is also possible.

00:14:49 - 00:15:22 | Speaker 2:

I like the image of that. If your trash doesn't get picked up right on time, what do you do? Here are our options. No sweat. I'm sure they're on their way. I took a picture and I have an email. Well, I think we know my answer on this. I already took a picture and have an email typed. I snarkily call waste management. Yeah, you do. Yes, you do. And that never really worked out for you that well.

00:15:24 - 00:16:34 | Speaker 1:

It didn't because, actually, and I think I told you about this time where we basically ended up getting charged for a bunch of like for like six months of yard waste yeah uh that i told you that whole story because basically i got mad because they didn't pick it up and they didn't or somehow i called them and i was oh i was inquiring when is it yard waste pickup because it's like every other week and in this conversation with them where i think i was annoyed because i thought they had missed us i basically put it on their radar that that i had canceled the yard waste service Going into winter But I continued to put the yard waste out there So they had been picking it up At least whenever they did And therefore we owed them money So then we ended up getting a bill from them For all this yard waste that had been picked up I don't like it I don't either I feel like, look Okay, we got over on you unintentionally But let's just call it even We'll start paying You keep picking up the yard waste But that's not how that place in Bellingham does They are And that's another thing I don't think yard waste or garbage Rather should be privatized I think that's one of those things That should be a city service because I think the profit motive leads to bad things happen.

00:16:34 - 00:17:32 | Speaker 2:

Well, this is interesting, Luke, because I mentioned on the actual episode of TBTL that we recorded today that went out today several weeks ago to the listeners that somebody had sent me an article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Yeah, and the article was all about how St. Paul now has to figure out whether or not they want to extend the city's garbage service. Apparently, up until I think 10 years ago, it was just like everybody figure it out yourself. Like you could just call up. It was all private. Weird. Yeah, so like you are talking about a private company, but it's the only company that you can hire and you do it through the city, right? It's still like kind of contracted through the city. That's the way it works here in Seattle. I don't get to choose who picks up my garbage. Back in the day in St. Paul, not all that long ago, if I was a homeowner, I'd have to figure out which private company is going to come and pick up my trash, and I can negotiate it. I assume renters, it's up to the landlords.

00:17:32 - 00:18:02 | Speaker 1:

I was reading an article today that didn't quite make sense for TBTL, but it was in New York Magazine, and it was about how people seem to think bowling balls are recyclable, and they went and interviewed a guy who runs the recycling facility out in, I don't know, queens or something and he's just got he gets like 12 bowling balls a week because people think they're plastic so they throw them in with plastic stuff and they're not recyclable so then he has to send them to the dump and he sends i think he sends like hundreds of bowling balls a year over

00:18:02 - 00:18:19 | Speaker 2:

to the dump because he can't recycle them they're what a great story i mean how how are 12 people in any area throwing away bowling balls in a given week and not even throwing it away those are the people who think it's recyclable how many bowling balls are americans throwing away every day

00:18:19 - 00:18:43 | Speaker 1:

it goes into a deep dive on how durable the kind of bowling balls you get at the bowling alley are and that's why and that makes them crappy for bowling because they're basically built to be indestructible because you're gonna have so many people using them so that's why real bowlers the real heads they get like fancy bowling balls that are sort of custom made it was a whole you know here's the funny part listeners you probably know this and we don't we've probably now talked about this because now I'll do it on

00:18:43 - 00:18:45 | Speaker 2:

tomorrow's show. Okay, yeah.

00:18:45 - 00:18:53 | Speaker 1:

So, okay. So the listeners have now heard us discuss bowling balls in depth, but as we're recording this, Andrew, we don't know that we've discussed bowling balls in depth. What a mind

00:18:53 - 00:19:33 | Speaker 2:

F. Here's the next question. You're going to throw away your old bowling ball. Which bin do you put it in? How did Kevin know? Okay, so Kevin is now, this is a personality quiz. So we're now moving away from the very specific garbage-related questions. He just wants to get to know us to figure out which bin we are. This next question is, you're ordering takeout what are you getting the options are thai pizza does 7-eleven deliver big bites anything that won't get cold on the way here whatever is quick and cheap or liquor um i am probably you know what i'm pizza that's like kind of my default a lot of thai but pizza more than

00:19:33 - 00:20:00 | Speaker 1:

that probably yeah i have to be i have to get a thai situation worked out here and i haven't which is weird because I've been here under a pandemic ordering food constantly to my apartment so you think I would have and I've I've certainly had a few different Thai places in Portland but you know how you kind of get your favorite going in whatever town you're in like up in Bellingham it was Juanita would just always go to Juanita had them literally programmed into the phone I need to figure out who that is for me

00:20:00 - 00:20:07 | Speaker 2:

here in portland i haven't quite figured that out yet but you are going pizza now that's kind of i'm going pizza and in fact i'm probably now going to order pizza for dinner tonight so no

00:20:07 - 00:20:57 | Speaker 1:

thanks kevin um and i like that pizza is actually it ties into garbage again too because i think any other takeout like it kind of depends on what you're getting but pizza we know where those pizza boxes go yard waste our friends yard waste um you're at a party luke what are you doing your wife's new name is yard waste yard waste show title um you're at a party what are you doing having a beer and mingling looking for my friends and taking care of them drinking and making people laugh mixing the drinks i also brought snacks bringing more beer or getting blackout drunk and fighting someone i am shocked that hanging out with the dogs and cats isn't on here that's kind of a that's kind of a go-to and that's something that i kind of associate with but given that that is not here having a beer and mingling is probably what i'm doing um

00:20:57 - 00:21:05 | Speaker 2:

yeah i'm definitely not fighting you have to let it mingle drinking and make i'm either drinking

00:21:05 - 00:21:09 | Speaker 1:

and making people laugh or having a beer and mingling do i make people laugh at parties maybe

00:21:09 - 00:21:26 | Speaker 2:

not yes you do i used to no i think you do i'm trying to make people laugh now i mean my goal is to be drinking and making people laugh i'm not sure if it's successful or not but it's it's what i'm attempting to do probably more than anything else on the list i'm going with that i don't know

00:21:26 - 00:21:34 | Speaker 1:

if that's cocky of me i guess having a beer and mingling or drinking make making people laugh i'm gonna go with the making people laugh it makes me feel better okay what was your favorite subject

00:21:34 - 00:21:51 | Speaker 2:

in school math art slash band english history science or passing period i don't actually know what that means is that must be like free period or or maybe study hall like study hall we'll call

00:21:51 - 00:22:08 | Speaker 1:

it study hall or just like a non-class kind of a thing i guess it depends on what um you know what era of school if i'm thinking like young well i guess if you have a period then we're probably thinking like high school well how could you not prefer the free period i'm going with free

00:22:08 - 00:23:47 | Speaker 2:

period oh man i think i liked it's a close one between english and history for me um because i think i liked things i had pretty decent reading comprehension so i think i like dreaded math because i was just so bad at math and so i was always like stressful and i never knew what was going on um but i didn't dread english and i also really liked history this is my like this is a really sad flex that i'm gonna i've probably already flexed this on the show one time before at a minimum but you know i got kicked out of jesus creek in eighth grade and i had to go to washington middle school where our friend p fletch also went and i was came into a class that was i don't know what it was like world events or something literally my first day of the class have i told you this story i don't know there was basically a quiz about current events about pop culture i remember i feel like i remember like either glasnost or perestroika being on there like you know it's like just basically here's a here's a world events quiz or what's going on in the world right now quiz and i had never taken the class it was my first day and the teacher's like i don't know if you want to take the test you can or whatever probably won't count against your grade i got every question right i was the only person in the class no i don't think you've told me that before and uh i think it was because i was just a weird kid who was very i was consuming a lot of news even you know even as a eighth grader uh and kind of a ne'er-do-well but i was always very interested in what was happening in the world i guess but i remember the teacher being well one student got it right and it's the guy who just started the class he was kind of using it as a way i think of chastising the students who'd been in the class and had not done well

00:23:47 - 00:24:19 | Speaker 1:

you did yourself a disservice there though because you also really raised the expectations of future performance yes i was not able to um able to um you know meet if free period were not an option here i would definitely go english i liked english class i loved writing and i enjoyed my english classes i just got to be honest though i was never like a somebody who would like choose to be in a classroom if he didn't have to be in a classroom so i'm taking passing period as meaning I'm probably out back with Bob smoking cigarettes.

00:24:19 - 00:24:29 | Speaker 2:

I am taking English because I feel like passing period is a slight cop out. And I think you were more studious than that, Andrew.

00:24:30 - 00:25:48 | Speaker 1:

Maybe. I mean, I don't I don't know that I was. I mean, anything that I did was mostly to like because I had to or I didn't want to get in trouble. But, yeah, I mean, if I had to if somebody said, hey, guess what? Like, did you did you start to get into did you develop a lifelong love of learning in college? I remember being very excited to get out of college and just move on with my life. I don't love school. Like, I don't hate everything about it. But like Genevieve is the type of person, she went back and she got a master's degree. And I think she will often fantasize about like going back to school or just thinking like it would be great. go back to school where i don't like the structure of school i hate like i hate getting a syllabus at the beginning of the year and just looking at it and saying like this i hated the first day of classes because you would just go to all your classes and you just get a syllabus and be like i can't get all this done then you go to your next class another syllabus i can't get all this done and that other shit and it's just like piles up and then you're just a ball of anxiety and as you just like continue to like work through all this stuff and you know you have a big project at the end of the year or a paper and i would always put things off to the last minute i did fine in college you know i i did you know magna cum laude baby but um i uh maybe that's the name of the show but um you know i did okay at kent state but i didn't really enjoy it i mean there were aspects of college i mean i would i would do it again in a heartbeat but um i didn't like really i don't

00:25:48 - 00:26:30 | Speaker 2:

embrace the classroom that's interesting to me because i do think that you are detail oriented And you like to know things So I just assumed that you were like really into school I did myself a real disservice By You know having a child before college So that I was just like I just saw it as a thing I had to get through So that I could then Get on with my life so I didn't really Absorb a lot of the information I didn't really like I didn't enjoy it I didn't kind of I don't know I wish I would have been more present mentally During those times because there's a lot of You know cool stuff to learn but I was just like Got to get through this so that I can start making money, so that I can get, you know, so that I can host a podcast with Andrew someday.

00:26:30 - 00:26:52 | Speaker 1:

Exactly. Well, it was your career track. All right. You're at Safeco Field, which is now, I believe, T-Mobile Park. And suddenly you have to poop. What do you do? You find the nearest empty bathroom. You run out onto the field and poop on home plate. Oh, yeah. Do we even need to hear the rest? You find the nearest bathroom. No, that's what Kyle Seeger did last night. I wasn't watching, but I believe you.

00:26:52 - 00:26:59 | Speaker 2:

No, he's actually having a relatively okay season. He just had a couple of inopportune strikeouts last night when we had runners in scoring position.

00:26:59 - 00:28:07 | Speaker 1:

But anyway. So there's two similar options here. Find the nearest empty bathroom or just find the nearest bathroom. Run into the field. Use my beer glass. Drive home or try to hold it in. I'm not going to miss this game. I got it for number two. I'm probably just going for the nearest bathroom. Like you're not going to. I do know of one. Do you know that one small bathroom that only has, like, maybe two urinals and two stalls at Safeco Field, Luke? I don't even know how to describe it to you, but it would be out kind of in the main concourse area out past kind of left field, I guess. It's kind of near the entrance if you're using those center field entrances. Anyway, I might see if that one is relatively empty. But, like, I've never – the thing is something has to have gone pretty wrong with my gutty works for me to need to use the restroom in that situation. Obviously, you have a very famous story about that as a kid. But, like, I don't usually have to do that in a situation like that. But if I did, I guess I'd say, well, suck it up, Walsh. Ooh, bad use of phrase there.

00:28:07 - 00:28:35 | Speaker 2:

I think I went with try to hold it, but not because I'm not missing this game, but because I'm not a fan of having to do that at a baseball field. Although I bet you that it's a lot better now than it used to be. Yeah, I agree. But as has been, you know, obviously detailed many, many times on the show, I have a famous incident that happened at the Kingdome, and I think some part of my brain just still thinks having to do that at a baseball game seems terrifying. So I think I would try to hold it, but I would just not so as to not miss the game, but more so as to not have to go use one of the bathrooms.

00:28:35 - 00:29:25 | Speaker 1:

next question gets us back into some direct garbage related um content here how full are your bins when you take them to the curb options being full so full the lid is open because it's slightly overfilled or overflowing i forgot to take it out last week as if compost and recycling full trash half full full no room to spare three quarters full but the glass bottles are overflowing or just three quarters full. I actually have, because I'm so disciplined about getting it out there on time and it's just Veeves and I here, usually my recycling, which happens every two weeks, is always full, but it's not that full. I'm just going to say compost and recycling full, trash half full. That's about as close as I can get given the options.

00:29:25 - 00:29:59 | Speaker 2:

I'm going three quarter full, but the glass bottles are overflowing because i've always i you know you have that experience where you're like who snuck all of these empty beer bottles and wine bottles into this recycling because there's no way i was responsible for this this week that's a lot for one person or two people um but but also you know was back in bellingham it's just me and carrie so we're not generating a massive amount of garbage so it would be you know it was always full was the ding dang yard waste because if you like you know mow the lawn or do anything with the yard that thing fills up super quick

00:30:00 - 00:30:03 | Speaker 1:

So I'm going three-quarters full, but the glass bottles are overflowing.

00:30:04 - 00:30:40 | Speaker 2:

And I was going to say we should create a personality quiz where it can be like, how bad is your drinking problem? And it's, did you switch to cans of beer because you were too embarrassed at the sound of them emptying your bin in the morning? Obviously, the answer is no for me. Do you let other people use your trash bins? If you ask first, I'll probably say yes. I'll stab you if you do. I would, but it's too full. of course my trash is your trash absolutely not they're my bins or if it's something small i would say if it's something small and it's not dog poop i unfortunately would have to go

00:30:40 - 00:31:10 | Speaker 1:

absolutely not they're my bins like even if it wasn't full it would bother me it would bother me if somebody put something in my garbage can which is i again a bad look because if i let's say i've already just said three quarters full if i wheeled the garbage can down to the curb it's three quarters full there is space and somebody had something and they needed to use it and they threw it in there why would that make me mad it does not matter but it just feels like i'm paying for this dang bin i don't want someone else using it you know what mine is really a combination of

00:31:10 - 00:32:01 | Speaker 2:

if it's something small and you ask first um so that's the thing for me is i feel like especially if it's already been empty this did happen to me this week by the way luke i'd left my bins out there a little bit too long in the middle of the heat wave and somebody threw their damn dog poop in there and i know a lot of listeners think i'm on the wrong side of this one i don't care to the people who say well what do you expect me to do with my dog poop i would say i don't know like if you're if you're walking down the street and you think well i'm tired i want to rest why can't i come in your house and use your couch be like because it's my couch just because you're tired you want to rest doesn't mean that my couch is for you and my garbage cans aren't for you either so anyway i guess i am kind of an asshole uh oh the question is how big of an asshole are you i'm gonna say if you're everly we lost everly if you ask first i'll probably say yes because i'm bad at saying no to people and i respect you asking me so i'm gonna go with that you know

00:32:01 - 00:32:12 | Speaker 1:

if somebody came up to me like if i'm wheeling the garbage out and somebody comes up to me and they say you know here's uh can i throw something in there i would not be able to turn them away

00:32:12 - 00:32:23 | Speaker 2:

yeah me but i would be mad then i think that you oh interesting okay what are you gonna put them then absolutely not yeah okay yep i got my answer which trash bin are you would you like to go first

00:32:23 - 00:33:04 | Speaker 1:

um yes i am a glass bin andrew oh wow i'm energetic i'm the life of the party and i make a lot of noise anytime someone puts one beer bottle in me did kevin come up with this that's actually pretty clever yes sorry kevin that i acted so surprised about that no you know that's come a long way you know that not everyone can take on the harder things in life but that's okay because you're willing to do it you have your own personal style and you're not afraid to show it you're the type to finish the bottle because nobody else will you are the fun bin and you always have been this is now that's been and then the second one is b-e-e-n bin this is interesting

00:33:04 - 00:33:38 | Speaker 2:

because as goofy as this is we did kind of get our personalized so you're like you're the fun guy Everybody knows Luke Burbank's the fun guy. I got the green bin. You're a green compost bin. You're responsible, dependable, and you can hold a lot of branches. You might have a Pudge Brothers pizza here and there, but you always put the greasy box in the green bin. You care about others, and that pays off in the end. Even if you don't get a lot of attention, you're never forgotten and always appreciated. You're the anchor of the bin family that always provides stability and comfort. These are the nicest things anybody's ever said about me and my green bin.

00:33:39 - 00:34:07 | Speaker 1:

Also, amazing work by Kevin to the degree that he kind of structured this so that maybe we would get these answers. It totally worked. Yeah, you're Party Boy, and I'm kind of a Green Bin guy over here. Yeah. Yeah, but Green Bin guy's a good guy, too. You got to have Green Bin guy, and you got to have fun Party Boy. Yeah, exactly. Did you put your hat on backwards as you said that? It's been backwards the whole recording. All right, what McDonald's Rockin' Gold song are we going to go out with today, sir? I am glad you asked, Luke Burbank.

00:34:07 - 00:35:16 | Speaker 2:

You know, this song came up in a conversation with my friend Bean recently, and he didn't know it, which surprises me. This seems right up his alley. So Bean was telling me about a podcast that I can't remember the name of right now, but it's a funny podcast out of Britain where it's exactly like a structured parody of true crime podcasts, and apparently it's really well done with a lot of detail. only the true crimes are them getting into the storylines of various songs so if there's like a crime committed in a song and i'm the only example i could think of was this song that i'm going to play for you here stagger lee do you know the song stagger lee i don't but i know there's a band called stagger lee wow bean didn't know this song either well stagger lee is the story of i believe a um it's by lloyd practice. And I believe it's the story of a poker game, I believe, that goes wrong. And then somebody shoots somebody at the poker game. We'll listen to it here. And so you could see a true crime podcast kind of giving that the true crime treatment, you know.

00:35:16 - 00:35:40 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. All right. So that's what we're going to go out with, a little Staggerly, or at least the song Staggerly. Thanks for listening, everyone. We're going to be back with another TBTL summer game tomorrow. So do join us for that. Until then, have a great Tuesday, right? Sounds right. It's a Tuesday. Yeah. Have a great Tuesday, and we'll see you tomorrow. Until then, please remember, no mountain too tall. And good luck to all.

00:35:40 - 00:36:33 | Speaker 1:

When I heard my bulldog bark, he was barking at the two men who were gambling in the dark. It was Sagalee and Billy, two men who gamboling.
